Threshold for subtopic article creation

It appears Wikipedia has assigned you to be bothered by me in HouseBlaster's stead. I'm working on a draft article titled 'Draft:Cheating in online chess', a subtopic of the already existing 'Cheating in chess'. Cheating in online chess in particular is both notable and complex, and many aspects of it would qualify for article level coverage under Wikipedia's requirements, let alone section level. However, I don't wanna make a 100KB article in draft space all by myself. Should I expect to need more information and citations than would be expected of other articles because I'm making one on a subtopic for it to get past reviewers and controversy, and to what extent if so? Do I only need to establish the breadth of the topic with some summaries, or do I have to flesh all of it out? I've read WP:Splitting and I know the regular requirements. Also, are there any means of finding sources you use other than the ones given by Wikipedia? Thanks, and よろしくお願いします。 Kaotao (talk) 14:21, 16 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello Kaotao. I'm not sure just what you mean by being assigned, but i'm happy to answer questions any time, if i can. Here, my best advice is probably two-fold: First, don't look at writing Draft:Cheating in online chess as making a 100kb article yourself; look at what you're doing as merely making a start that will then be expanded as needed, by you or by other editors once it is in mainspace; that way you don't need to feel overwhelmed by the task, it's just a small bite to begin with. Second, there are some editors who dislike splitting off subtopics, but under legitimate operations it isn't likely to cause controversy (in mine opinion); have you read WP:CFORK, most especially the sections under WP:GOODFORK, such as WP:SPINOFF and WP:RELART? If not, i highly recommend you do so now, before going any further with the draft; they should give you some direction as to what is generally acceptable in creating a subtopic such as you are. To answer the specific questions, no, i wouldn't think yo should "need more information and citations" than any regular article; that it's a subtopic doesn't mean it requires even more substantiation than usual. To begin with, i would certainly not try to flesh everything out; i would not attempt to write full sections for each heading you currently have in the draft, but maybe start with "Overview" and "Detection", and perhaps give a couple of examples. More can be done once the article is accepted. If i can help you with any further advice or experience or whatever, please feel free to ask, and どういたしまして (Google translate, so i hope it's what i mean to say!) ~ LindsayHello 11:15, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for the thoughtful and elaborate reply! I'll check those guidelines out, and I got the you're welcome. Kaotao (talk) 11:24, 17 January 2025 (UTC)

Question from Ravi Choudhary.rc on User:Ravi Choudhary.rc/sandbox (08:31, 2 February 2025)

How do i create template --Ravi Choudhary.rc (talk) 08:31, 2 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello Ravi Choudhary.rc! I'm pleased to meet you; i've seen some of your edits listed along with some other new editors, and i'm happy to see you seem to be active and enjoying yourself.
I am not a great technical expert unfortunately, so i don't know an awful lot about templates. The best thing i can do is to guide you towards this guide and this one: The first is a quick guide to templates, the second a detailed guide; i suggest you take a good look at each. There are some excellent technical editors in the community; a great place to find them is to read some of the technical village pump and see the names of some of the editors who hang out there; after a while you'll come to recognise those who are skilful in different areas. I also suggest looking through the FAQs of that page, as you are very likely to find that someone has asked whatever question you're interested in previously.
Again, i'll just say welcome, and i'm pleased to see you in the community. If i can help, please don't hesitate to come back here and ask ~ LindsayHello 09:03, 2 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from RichlyMelb (10:13, 2 February 2025)

hi there Bhairava (or LindsayH). I decided to start editing a wikipedia page because I saw a link where I knew the background story. The page is Nigel Beusst (an Australian filmmaker) who died recently. The FIRST film on his 'filmography' list is a film called 'Fun Radio', which is an old film they played at the funeral. It's available on YouTube on Peter Tammer's YT page. Peter is a friend of Nigel's (also my friend) who gave a eulogy. MY QUESTION is why is this link to YouTube not possible to include? I understand that there's probably lots of good reason (considering all the rubbish that goes on YouTube!) but perhaps this is a special case? OR is it possible to link out to 'Internet Archive'? I could ask Peter Tammer to post the film there. Peter has the rights to post the film online, so I just want to help him (he's an older man himself so i want to encourage this archiving & sharing of old films while we still have knowledge and expertise of these works). Many thanks! Richard --RichlyMelb (talk) 10:13, 2 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello RichlyMelb. First, i must apologise for the lateness of my reply; it is panto time here, and much of my non-work time is taken up with rehearsals and panic, so i've not been editing much. Second, YouTube is not generally considered a reliable source for us, and therefore is not considered a good place to link to, because it is user-generated content with little or no oversight or review, meaning that within certain very wide limits anything can be posted on it, but not anything is a good source for us to use in writing our encyclopaedia. I'd suggest you take a look at WP:NOYT, which explains why YouTube isn't reliable, and this discussion about much of the same. If i can answer any further questions, or if you need any further help or just friendship, please do let me know ~ LindsayHello 16:01, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
Thanks Lindsay, that all makes sense. I'm seeing if we can get the film uploaded to Internet Archive instead, which doesn't seem to be an 'unreliable source' - presumably because it's a non-profit org? Anyway, appreciate the feedback and connection to another person in this amazing online community. All the best with the pantos (here's to good rehearsals and less panic, ha!) Question from MonkeyKing4753 (12:31, 9 February 2025)

Would it be a good idea to create pages about youtubers Scorpionking279 and Monkeyking4753(Me) --MonkeyKing4753 (talk) 12:31, 9 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello MonkeyKing4753. First, i must apologise for the lateness of my reply; it is panto time here, and much of my non-work time is taken up with rehearsals and panic, so i've not been editing much. To your question, i do not know much (if anything) about YouTubers, but i can say that it would absolutely not be a good idea to create a Wikipedia page about yourself, or about Scorpionking279 if you are collaborators or in any way related (by work, acquaintanceship, or other means). If you are notable, someone will create a page about you. We determine notability in various ways, the best place to look is here, in our guide to that very subject; a more specific guide is that about the notability of people, WP:BIO, and an advice page for YouTube notability, here. I am sorry to sound somewhat negative, but it is better that i am direct and tell you that writing an article about yourself is a very bad idea than that you do it and then, potentially, be hurt if it is argued against or deleted. I suggest you take a look at this page which is a good explanation about not writing about yourself. If i can answer any further questions, or if you need any further help or just friendship, please do let me know ~ LindsayHello 16:01, 11 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from Pasteels (22:39, 17 February 2025)

Hello, I am grateful for your guidance. I elected, as a first edit, to modify one sentence in one of the 'suggested edits' articles. The edit was rejected and the explanation is opaque to me. I *think* I needed to use strikeout or some method to make it clear what my edit was (a deletion of extraneous/redundant text), but I dunno. Thanks. I'm not sure how to link the info to you. --Pasteels (talk) 22:39, 17 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello Pasteels; i'm not sure what you are referring to as your first edit modifying a sentence, as all i can see that you have done is write a very generic single sentence in your sandbox ~ a place for experimenting and learning about wikimarkup and assorted other things ~ and then submit it for review, none of which i think is something in the list of suggested edits. If you have a clearer explanation or question, feel free to ask; i would also suggest that you look at the links left on your talk page, here, as there is a wealth of information available for newcomers ~ LindsayHello 12:48, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Hello, apparently I did not (do not) understand how to submit an edit for an existing article. I wrote out an explanation of what I attempted to do (see my sandbox) and copied the editor who declined my submission. I'm trying here, but somehow I'm missing something very basic about process. Pasteels (talk) 18:51, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
I'm having trouble understanding you, if i'm honest. You haven't made a single edit to any page, let alone sinus lift, which i think is what you want to edit. Have you read any of the help pages? This one, is a very good place to start. In brief, your sandbox isn't for making real edits, it's for practising, as i said above. To make an edit, the copyedit you want, for example, you need to go to the page, sinus lift, find the "edit" button, press it, and then carefully change the text you think needs changing before pressing the "Publish changes" button once you have it how you want it. If this is not what you have done, that is why your edit isn't being accepted. Is there more i can explain? For sure, feel free to ask, if so ~ LindsayHello 21:04, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
Thanks, Lindsay, for some reason I was under the mistaken impression that I was supposed to work from the sandbox. Thanks for your patience and detailed reply, I do appreciate it. 97.120.14.216 (talk) 17:38, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from Princess Abolanle on Debit Mastercard (09:53, 19 February 2025)

Question from Bejns (08:57, 23 February 2025)

I am finding a highly biased content. How can I edit it or report it. It also uses loads of sources but all sources are from the same leaning media with the same narrative. --Bejns (talk) 08:57, 23 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello Bejns! Welcome to Wikipedia! While i don't know where (in which article or articles) you are finding biased content, if that is so, it is good to want to correct it, as we are determined to produce content without a point of view, that is unbiased. The place to begin a conversation about bias would be on the talk page of the article you are concerned about; every article has a talk page, you find it by putting talk: in front of the article name, so if you were concerned about hummingbird you would type talk:hummingbird in your search box, which would take you to talk:hummingbird. There, you could join a current discussion about bias or, if there isn't an active one, start a new section with that topic.
Let me add a couple of caveats, however. It is not uncommon for new users to come here thinking there is bias without realising what NPOV (our information about neutral point of view) means, so i urge you if you have not already to read that link. Also, if the article or subject area you are concerned about is one that is either controversial or heavily in the news at the moment, such as current politics, religion, or actors in or subjects of popular films, it is very likely that there already is or has been a discussion about sources and perspectives, so your views, while welcome, may not be new to the conversation and may already have been talked about. Have you taken a look at our guide to what kinds of sources we use? The fact that, as you say, all sources are from the same leaning media with the same narrative is not necessarily a bad thing; to go back to my example, if someone went to talk:hummingbird complaining there is a blog which says that hummingbirds can fly at a million kilometres an hour and why isn't it being used, well that is not going to be taken seriously; so what i mean is, if you are going to point out weaknesses in the sources and their bias, make sure you have fully reliable, secondary sources which support any other viewpoint you want to see included.
I hope this helps; again, i'll reiterate my welcome, and say you are very welcome to come back here if you have any further questions or if there is something else i can help you with ~ LindsayHello 09:57, 23 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from QFAMarketing (08:30, 24 February 2025)

Hi Lindsay, Hope you're doing well. I'd like to please correct the QFA Logo on our article. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Qatar_national_football_team

In arabic it's correct and in english it's not correct.

1- is there a way to have the log appear correct on all languages? 2- what's the method in order to correct the image in english?

Thank you for the help. --QFAMarketing (talk) 08:30, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello QFAMarketing, welcome to Wikipedia. I do not understand what you are asking for above. As far as i can see, the logo in Qatar national football team is directly from a .pdf file from the Qatar Football Association, so i don't see what could not be correct.
My next point is rather important, as it looks to me that your username/account is not appropriate. If you read WP:ORGNAME you will see that [u]sernames that unambiguously represent the name of a company, organization are not allowed. More that, an account is not to be shared or used by an organisation; your message implies your account is an official representative of the QFA. I suggest you take a look at WP:SHAREDACCOUNT for more information ~ LindsayHello 15:12, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
I have put a template on your talk page with further information about shared/official accounts ~ LindsayHello 15:16, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from Niall146 (15:39, 27 February 2025)

I am trying to create a Wikipedia page about the Tamil politician Annamalai Kuppusamy. The article will mostly be a translation of the corresponding article from the Tamil Wikipedia.

However, when trying to edit the draft, I received a warning stating that I am not allowed to edit the article due to a similarly titled article being blacklisted previously.

How do I overcome this? --Niall146 (talk) 15:39, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello Niall146, welcome! I do not have experience with blacklisted titles, so i can't offer a great deal of help; what i can say is that more than likely there has been some editing outside the community's requirements around this person, by which i mean that paid editing has taken place or editing by someone with a conflict of interest, or perhaps Annamalai Kuppusamy does not meet our notability requirements and someone has repeatedly tried to create an article despite that. Your best bet is probably to go to the teahouse and ask your question there, as there are far more experienced editors than i who will be able to explain to you why it has been blacklisted. I'm sorry i can't offer more help than that ~ LindsayHello 17:23, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from Wikilover143 (07:50, 1 March 2025)

How Can Movie Sandbox in Article --Wikilover143 (talk) 07:50, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello Wikilover143, welcome to Wikipedia. I am not certain i understand your question, as it does not make sense as written, but if you mean to ask how to convert your sandbox into an article, i have to tell you that what you have in your sandbox currently is not sufficient for an article. There are a few problems, and i would not be fair to you if i didn't point out a couple before giving you a bit of advice. First, it is not really written in good English; that can be improved of course. Second, and more important, it is not anything like a full article, in that it tells us essentially nothing except that there is a company with this name owned by that man. Third, and most important, it is not at all clear that either the man or the company is important or notable enough to warrant an article; there is a page here about notability and what it means in determining if someone or something should have a Wikipedia article, and i really suggest that you read it, as well as this page about sources. Finally, as to technically how to move what is in your sandbox ~ once you have improved it and made sure it fits our criteria and style ~ to make it an actual article, this page will help you understand what to do, and i suggest you look at it, too. Again, i repeat "Welcome!" and tell you that i am happy to help if i can ~ you can feel free to come back here and ask further questions if you like ~ LindsayHello 08:55, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from Inspirationforgood (15:35, 1 March 2025)

Hi, Lindsey. Great to connect. Thank you for mentoring!! My Q: How do I create a citation for birth and death dates using a state-issued death certificate? --Inspirationforgood (talk) 15:35, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello, Inspirationforgood, and welcome to Wikipedia. I have never myself used such a reference, nor really noticed one in use, so this answer is not to be taken as gospel but more as a general guide. If the certificate is available online, a reference would probably look something like this: with the generic parameters i have used filled in correctly. How can I publish on this platform --Sunnychidube (talk) 21:05, 9 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello Sunnychidube, welcome. In the most basic answer, you publish by opening a page and editing it then pressing the Publish Changes button. A better answer, however, is found if you follow this link to our help page on your first article, which has a lot of helpful information on what to write about, how to write, how to ask for review (if you want it), and how to actually publish. Further help on the actual mechanics can be found if you click on this link, too. Question from Judyvanstaden (08:40, 11 March 2025)

Hi LindsayH I've tried two times now to add an article for an upcoming memecoin (Bitchcoin). There's another article about Bitchcoin but that's an NFT made years ago so not too relevant anymore. Is there a way to also add a Bitchcoin article on the memecoin? --Judyvanstaden (talk) 08:40, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi @LindsayH, following up on the above. Thank you. Judyvanstaden (talk) 07:57, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Judy. I have taken a look at Bitchcoin and while it is about something from some years ago, that doesn't necessarily mean that the article should be removed to make way for one on the new memecoin (i'm using the word, but i don't understand it!). In general, we would expect that, if the new subject is in some meaningful way linked to the old, it would be appropriate to add a new section to the current Bitchcoin article giving the new (verifiable) information. If it is entirely unrelated, and if the new memecoin is notable (for which you would need to read WP:GNG, our guidance on notability), then a new article would be started at a different title; the title could be something like Bitchcoin (memecoin) or using some other disambiguator to show it is different from bitchcoin. Does this make sense? If not, feel free to continue the conversation here, or visit the WP:TEAHOUSE where you can get information from other editors ~ LindsayHello 16:24, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from TurtleFrog (20:10, 19 March 2025)

If I have something important about an article, like a fact or something, but it doesn't fit under a topic within the article, do I create an topic just for that one fact, or do I just not add it? --TurtleFrog (talk) 20:10, 19 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi, TurtleFrog. I'm not certain i'm understanding your question exactly, so please forgive me if i don't answer perfectly, My best explanation for what i understand you to be asking is probably an example.
If, for example, in the article bookshelf you noticed that there is not a section on which material made the strongest bookshelves, and you had one or more reliable sources which contain that information then, yes, you would be justified in starting a new section (topic) within that article. If, on the other hand, you wanted to put in that people with collections of Agatha Christie's novels prefer red bookcases then, even if you did have reliable sources, such a fact could not support a new section and, really, such trivia would not belong in the article (though it might, conceivably, belong in a different article such as, perhaps, desire).
I hope that this answers your question; feel free to return and clarify, if it does not, or if i can help in any other way ~ LindsayHello 16:24, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from Empire spring (01:26, 21 March 2025)

How do I edit a war on the Nader Shah page, for example the Battle of Damghan, so that it becomes blue and the war can be searched for, because the writing is red? --Empire spring (talk) 01:26, 21 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello Empire spring. In the article Nader Shah the Battle of Damghan does not appear red but blue; that is because the battle has an article itself (and has done so since 2005), at Battle of Damghan (1729); you can click on that link and edit the article on the battle, subject to the regular requirements of using reliable sources and improving the article and so on. Question from Sabokhat Juraeva (06:09, 26 March 2025)

Hello, it's me Sabokhat, I've just submitted a new article which I wrote, it is my first time writing an article, so can you explain me when can I get response that my article is okay and in which section of the profile it will be visible? --Sabokhat Juraeva (talk) 06:09, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello Sabokhat Juraeva, and welcome to Wikipedia. As you can see at the top of the article you've written and submitted, in the big, ugly puce box, it says that review "may take 3 months or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order", so that answers your immediate question. I can, however, offer a few suggestions, first to help with the draft article process (this won't guarantee acceptance, but may help the reviewer look favourably on it), and second to improve the quality of the article. Your formatting does not meet our standards: The title should probably be bolded, and not have any wlinks (links to other WP articles) in it; there is a lot of bolding within the article, which we do not really do so, for example, take out all the bolding in the History section; also, your use of sections is not in line with our use ~ the very first one should probably go, and all the others be sections not sub-sections.
I realise that this is probably not the answer you were hoping for, but it is better to point you to helpful answers and information than to raise false hopes. I do have one further suggestion which is that, for now, you forget about this draft and do some minor and easy editing in other articles, gain some experience, learn what being a Wikipedia editor is all about; it might help you take your mind off "E-Government in Uzbekistan", and will make it easier for you to understand how to improve it in the long run; it will also show that you are here to help, and not just focussed on the article you wrote. Finally, and again, welcome! I hope you enjoy your time here and decide to continue with being an editor ~ LindsayHello 09:19, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
Thank you very much for detailed answer @LindsayH, I'll try to learn editing at first then)) Sabokhat Juraeva (talk) 10:46, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
You are most welcome. Please feel free to come back here if you have any further questions; i may not know the answers to everything, but i've been here long enough that i usually have a reasonable idea where to go to find an answer! Happy editing ~ LindsayHello 11:41, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from Paoladavis (04:16, 28 March 2025)

Hello,

How can I edit incorrect information on Wikipedia? For example, I recently edited an entry about the creator of Sensual Bachata, as it should be Daniel y Desiree, not Korke and Judith.

Let me know if you need further refinements! --Paoladavis (talk) 04:16, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello Paoladavis, and welcome to Wikipedia. As you know, anyone can edit Wikipedia; this means that rather than insisting on our own way and edits, we all have to agree on what we say, and the basis of that agreement is what we call consensus. If there are disagreements between editors about what an article says, we discuss meanings and sources and content and so on, on the talk page that every article has, until there is consensus ~ which doesn't mean absolutely everyone is convinced, but that there is general agreement. In the particular case you asked about, you edited bachata (dance) to change the creators of the dance style, and you were reverted; the next step would be to start a section on the talk page laying out what you believe to be true, why, and what reliable sources you have to support your belief, so that anyone else is free to answer. A couple of caveats, though: I note that the page is under an editing restriction currently which means that edits by newer editors are examined before approval, and this probably means that there has been edit warring in the past ~ possibly about an entirely different portion of the article ~ and so the community is more sensitive about it; also, i haven't looked, but it would be worth you looking on the talk page (the link i gave you above) to see if the question of the creator of the style has been discussed previously and, if it has, read those discussions and be prepared to explain logically and reasonably why what you are saying is a new issue. I hope this is of some help to you. The final bit of advice i would give is, if you do want to be a part of our community (and not just put Daniel y Desiree in place of Korke and Judith), then don't focus on this one article, but do some simple editing elsewhere, learn your way around, and thus become a constructive and valuable member of the community. Again, i say, Welcome to Wikipedia, i hope you stick around! ~ LindsayHello 07:49, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi,

I have just published a page but the title of the page is incorrect. How do I edit this please?

TIA, Lauren --Wiki-LongL (talk) 20:27, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Wiki-LongL, hello and welcome. I'm not sure what you mean, as you have only made two edits ~ your question here and an edit to your userpage at user:Wiki-LongL, which is not something you can or should need to change the title of. In general, titles are changed by moving the page, but that is probably something you don't want to do this early in your WP career. Please do ask if i can offer any assistance, or if you need to clarify your question ~ LindsayHello 20:35, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
Okay, thank you. I would like to publish a page. How would I do this please? Wiki-LongL (talk) 20:41, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
Hi Lindsay,
Apologies - Please ignore this :) I panicked that the page had been published and contacted you, but can see it's safely in my Sandbox. I can rest easy and carry on editing before publishing.
Looks like it will be fun! Wiki-LongL (talk) 21:05, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from IcantACEit (03:36, 2 April 2025)

Hey, I just created a draft for my first article, I was wondering if you'd give your input? And yes, I am aware I have not put my citations. Yet... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Barca_v_Bayern --IcantACEit (talk) 03:36, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

And also yes, It is not finished. I was just curious if you feel I should continue. IcantACEit (talk) 03:39, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello IcantACEit, and welcome to Wikipedia. I am not an expert on our articles about sports matches, though i can perhaps give you a couple of pointers:
 1. Have you read a few articles about such games, to get the idea of how to structure, the sort of content and referencing you should aim for, the value of such an article? For example 1923 FA Cup final and FC Bayern Munich 1–2 Norwich City F.C. (1993) and Arsenal Women 11–1 Bristol City Women are three featured articles (the best work in the encyclopaedia) about association football matches; i suggest you read them to gain an idea of what to aspire to;
 2. Second, as you point out, your writing is currently entirely unreferenced; i'm sure you intend to correct that before offering the article to the community. Be sure that you read this page which is about sources and how to choose good ones to cite;
 3. It's a minor point, but some of the formatting you are currently using is not what we do; your article needs a lead paragraph or section, for example, that is a section without a heading which introduces the subject and explains why it is important ~ and this leads me on to my last point...
 4. Possibly i should have put this as my first point, why are you writing this article? What is notable about the match you cover, that is, what makes it worth writing an encyclopaedia article about it? As you can imagine, we don't have articles on every baseball, football, cricket, hockey, lacrosse...match, so why this one? This is a helpful page as you need to answer this question.
I hope this is helpful; please feel free to come back here to ask more questions or look for guidance or just to chat; i'm delighted to help newer members of the community if i can. And, once again, welcome! ~ LindsayHello 08:30, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
 1. Thanks, I'll read those articles and make attempts to structure it properly.
 2. Yes, I do intend to reference before offering it, and I'll look into the page you gave.
 3. Thank you, I'll make sure to fix my formatting
 4. Lastly, I feel the match is notable given it set stadium records for attendance, Barcelona hadn't beaten Bayern Munich in almost ten years and lost 5 games continuously. Robert Lewandowski, one of Bayern's main players and the second best goalscorer, scored against his former club. And lastly, Raphinha got his hat-trick versus the Bavarian giants, becoming the fourth Brazilian to do so since Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, and Neymar.
IcantACEit (talk) 13:06, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
Say, that's a great set of answers from you! If you continue to listen to suggestions and act on them within the community's guidelines, there is no reason you shouldn't become a valued and productive member of it. As for that particular match, yes, those sound like reasonable reasons for it to be notable; the key, though, will always be what kind of sources (references) you can find to back up the notability. Articles with good sourcing, proper mentions in the sources (i.e., not just passing "this happened" mentions), even if they are taken to AfD (Articles for Discussion ~ where decisions are made about keeping an article someone feels doesn't deserve to be here), tend to pass and stay.
On a personal level, i have read with interest your user page, with its potted autobiography. Warren County looks interesting ~ the waterfall illustrated on the article page is certainly beautiful ~ pretty sure i've not been there, though i have passed through Tennessee several times. If i may, without sounding too "adult" and boring, i'd advise you to be careful about what else you put on your user page; remember that everything you publish here (and elsewhere on the Internet) is forever, so don't put anything you may regret later. Okay, that to one side, if i can help in any other way, or if you would like me to take a look at Barca/Bayern 2024 when you have worked on it some more, just give me a shout and i'll be happy to respond ~ LindsayHello 21:39, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
Ah, I forgot about my user page. I meant to take that down haha... I just made it as something for me to be proud of. I forgot I put it there! As for the rest, thanks for taking the time out of your day to help me here, it means a lot. Thanks again, Emerson. IcantACEit (talk) 01:13, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from IcantACEit (02:46, 3 April 2025)

Hi, it's me again, I was curious about how I would go about adding references into infoboxes, I know it's probably elementary to you, but it's like my fourth day here😅 --IcantACEit (talk) 02:46, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

I was also curious if the the information under the "details" and "statistics" headings would be correctly formatted and etc... IcantACEit (talk) 05:58, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
Hi. An infobox is a specific form of a template, so in an article you call the template and fill in the appropriate parameters. If you mean literally references, putting a cite in an infobox, personally i don't care for that, as the infobox is intended to summarise information from the article, which is where the reference should be. It can, however, be done in just the same way as using a regular cite ~ , for example. The best way to learn about infoboxes (and templates in general) is to look at one or more in articles, on the editing page, and see just how it is done there ~ being very careful not to press the Publish button before leaving the page. If you were to go to edit William Blake, in the first section you would see this
{{Infobox writer <!-- for more information see :Template:Infobox writer/doc -->
| name = William Blake
| image = William Blake by Thomas Phillips.jpg
| caption = Portrait by Thomas Phillips (1807)
| birth_date =
| birth_place = Soho, London, England
| death_date =
| death_place = Charing Cross, London, England
| education = Royal Academy of Arts
| occupation =
which is the infobox used on that page. You can see how each parameter is filled in, including two references. And, if you look at William Blake you can see that it is all formatted correctly. ~ LindsayHello 07:55, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from IcantACEit (13:51, 3 April 2025)

I feel like I have contributed a decent amount into each category on the Barca v Bayern draft. I added a few citations and will add more later. The real reason I reached out, was because I am asking if it is good enough, I tried changing it to look more like FC Barcelona 2-8 Bayern Munich, another infamous encounter of the two clubs --IcantACEit (talk) 13:51, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello IcantACEit. I'm afraid i've been a bit inactive here for a couple of days; i'm not at work tomorrow, so i'll take a look at the draft ~ in between enjoying a bit of sunshine! ~ and let you know what i think ~ LindsayHello 18:00, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Lindsay! Take as much time as you need, enjoy your sunshine! IcantACEit (talk) 01:03, 8 April 2025 (UTC)
Hello IcantACEit ~ i'm slow, but i have eventually come back to my talk page and am responding to you. I see that another editor, Greenman, has reviewed the draft you wrote and submitted; he is an experienced editor and his opinion is to be valued. I would likely defer to his view: Unless you can more clearly show why this particular match was more notable than any other either of the two played that season ~ in other words, the same question i asked a fortnight or so ago, why this match? I notice that you have now referenced it, nice; it looks, though, that the references are not all of the same quality ~ any published by Barcelona or Bayern FCs are probably not good as not being independent ~ and of the others, i didn't look at all of them, but i didn't see a lot of coverage of this match in a notable way, more mentions in material about something other. I hope this is not too disappointing, and i would urge you to continue editing: This is a fun place, with a good community involved in a positive project; maybe set this article aside for a little while and try some other subject, then come back to it with a new set of eyes ~ LindsayHello 09:42, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Mandira 5596 (12:07, 8 April 2025)

Hi, this is Mandira. Can you please tell me how to add links for "dead link" --Mandira 5596 (talk) 12:07, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello Mandira 5596, and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm not entirely certain what you are asking, so tell me if i have misunderstood. To show that a link in a reference is dead, it is possible to use the "deadlink" template, which is added after a reference like this: You can get more information about this template reading its documentation at Template:Dead link.
As a second point, i have taken a look at some of your contributions, and i suggest you may need to be careful about following our Manual of Style (WP:MOS) ~ it appears that you have changed the spelling of words from the British/Canadian standard to the American standard in an article about a Canadian subject, and you have put an extra capital letter in a heading ("Radio days" to "Radio Days"). Neither of these is awful, but if you want to become a part of the community ~ and i hope you do ~ you'll want to learn and follow the standards we use. If i can help in any way, please feel free to give me a shout here, or on your own talk page ~ LindsayHello 12:38, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from KozakKarl1 (18:05, 8 April 2025)

How do I create a page about myself? I am a filmmaker and entrepreneur. Thanks Karl Kozak --KozakKarl1 (talk) 18:05, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello KozakKarl1, and welcome to Wikipedia. The short, and perhaps unwelcome, answer is that you don't. You can read about it more detail here, but the essential point is that there is no way for any person to write objectively about themselves or to judge if they are notable ~ which is the foundation of an article, you can see here. If you are actually notable, if there are good, solid references to you in reliable sources, rest assured that someone at some point will write an article about you. What you can do, on the other hand, is edit your userpage and put some information about yourself there, so that your colleagues in our community of editors can know a little about you. Your userpage is to be found here, and you can click in the edit box (or click the "edit" button or tab if someone else has created the page to open the editor) and then start typing what you want. I hope this is helpful; please ask if i can answer anything else for you ~ LindsayHello 18:27, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello, Indy2081, and welcome! I have combined your two sections into one, for ease of reading and answering. If you take a look at the section above, another new user asks very much the same question, and i am going to quote myself in replying to you: The short, and perhaps unwelcome, point is that you don't write your autobiography for Wikipeda. You can read about it more detail here, but the essential point is that there is no way for any person to write objectively about themselves or to judge if they are notable ~ which is the foundation of an article, you can see here. Hello Sufyan Hashmi01. I'm sorry it has taken me a few days to get back to you, nevertheless, welcome to Wikipedia. I have taken a quick look at your contributions and it looks as though you are starting out well, figuring out how to edit and publish. Well done. I see you have already submitted the draft you made for Qurtaba City; i suggest you continue to improve it as it waits for a more experienced editor to approve and move it to what we call "article space" ~ the real encyclopaedia. One improvement i would say would make it immediately better would be to put the references you use in line, that is, use the cite by each paragraph or sentence that it supports. If you haven't read it, WP:FOOTNOTES is a useful guide to how to do that. Please feel free to ask if i can help you in any other way; and again, welcome ~ LindsayHello 08:30, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

First, though, i need to ask you,, and i hope you don't take this as being rude, but what is your first language? It may be easier for you to edit, at least at first, in the Wikipedia for that language rather than the English Wikipedia, as it appears from your short question that your English may not be up to the level needed to edit here usefully ~ LindsayHello 08:34, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Hailing Cheerily (00:04, 21 April 2025)

COI Question. I would like to expand the stub article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerome_Gratian since I know where to find factual biographical information: e.g. https://historia-hispanica.rah.es/biografias/20549-jeronimo-gracian-dantisco (as well as printed books I have read and can cite). He was a member of the Discalced Carmelite Order, and I am also a member of the order (Secular Carmelite) - does this constitute a conflict of interest and in that case would I need to use the Talk page to request edits instead of editing directly? The COI page says to use common sense, something which I generally lack, hence my question. --Hailing Cheerily (talk) 00:05, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello Hailing Cheerily, and welcome to Wikipedia. First, COI, in mine opinion while you do have a COI with the Carmelites, such that i would recommend using the talk page if you were to edit those pages, for someone like Gratian or others of the order it is such a minor COI that i would find it difficult to argue that you shouldn't edit his article directly ~ after all, we don't forbid modern-day masons to edit such articles as George Washington or Edmund Kean. So long as you are not editing primarily about the Carmelites, i see no reason why Jerome Gratian should not be open to you. Please give me a shout here (or your talk page), if i can help any further ~ LindsayHello 06:23, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Xzit49 (06:51, 26 April 2025)

I hope you’re doing well. I’ve been working on my first Wikipedia article draft about Ace China (“Mayor of Housing”) in my user sandbox, and I’d like to take it to the next level. Specifically, I want to ensure it fully complies with Wikipedia’s style and content policies—neutral point of view, reliable sourcing, proper formatting, and correct WikiProject tags.

Could you please take a look at my sandbox page and advise on:

Tone & NPOV – Does it read neutrally, without promotional language?

Citations – Are the sources appropriate, properly formatted, and sufficient to establish notability?

Structure & Formatting – Any suggestions for section organization, infobox parameters, or category links?

WikiProject Tags – Are my project classifications (Biography, Nigeria, Real estate, etc.) appropriate?

Any other improvements you’d recommend before I submit via Articles for Creation?

Here’s the link to my sandbox: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Xzit49 --Xzit49 (talk) 06:51, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello Xzit49. I have taken a look at your draft, and also at your talk page and contributions; it looks to me as though you have created a draft article once and it was deleted as advertising or promotion, am i right? Now i am not an administrator, so i cannot see the version which was deleted, but i would guess that what you have on your user page is probably not far from the previous, because it also seems very promotional. If you want to create and keep an article about this person ~ if they are notable enough in Wikipedia terms to warrant an article ~ then it needs to be much more a reflection of what actual reliable sources say, and not so much puffing up his reputation. In addition, the format of the article as you have it, is not in line with out Manual of Style; much of that is easy to correct, but getting it right first time probably makes an article more likely to be accepted.
I really apologise, because i did not intend to write what feels negative, so i will take just a moment more of your time and answer some of your direct questions:
 • Tone: Honestly, to me the tone reads as positive but giving as little information as possible, just enough verbiage to make him sound good
 • Structure: The section on his career doesn't seem useful ~ "He became known...", "He also leads a lifestyle brand..." ~ this kind of language is almost useless for an encyclopaedia; tell us what he did, what actions he took, then if necessary use sources to intepret what it means
 • WikiProjects: I don't have anything to do with projects, i don't really care for them, so i have no advice there
In all honesty, i would not submit this version of the draft, but see if you can address some of the issues i have pointed out. I am happy to be questioned further, to give advice, to take a read of a different version, so please feel free to return here and let me know ~ LindsayHello 08:30, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello LindsayHello,
Thank you again for your helpful feedback on my draft.
I've revised the draft in my user sandbox () based on your suggestions. I focused on improving neutrality and presenting verifiable actions supported by the sources.
Could you please take another look when you have a moment? I'd appreciate your input on whether the tone is now neutral and if you think it's closer to being ready for submission via Articles for Creation.
Thanks again for your help.

General Question from Icarus

Hello, this is Icarus. I hope you'll doing fine. Thank you for letting a message earlier regarding to the concerns of speaking English in WP:ANI.

To be clarified this, Gino March's continuously disruptive their edits on their television series/programs without providing a summary as he chose the unnecessary removal content in MOS:TVINTL. As far I know, he didn't response any of the concerns from the IP's and editors (especially me) until he blanking the page in unusual manner.

Although I'm worried of not getting help towards the admins, my grammars and cohesive tones are poorly statement. Thus, Gino says that he will leave alone for nothing as rejected. So, how I can help to avoid the misunderstandings in a situation (only a grammar and comprehension)? Icarus 🔭📖 05:07, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

Icarus, i can only repeat what i said on your talk page ~ your English does not seem good enough to contribute here: You have having difficulty with simple sentences and constructions, even here, your reply is confusing and confused. I suggest that this is the reason that you feel it is being ignored at ANI, not that no one cares or wants to help ~ LindsayHello 07:02, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
FYI, I'm not confused with my English language. As you mentioned for my talk page, "This is not intended to be rude or an attack, merely a personal note ... Have you considered editing at whichever Wikipedia is in your mother tongue?". The basis is not taking a consideration as a personal note and thus, only grammar and comprehension seems to my problem that no one needs help. If this is your concern to me, then I'll admit it as a common mistake. For now, I will fix this for my English language and grammar as a next conversation and report. With regards, thank you for notifying me. Icarus 🔭📖 07:52, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from WordsmithPea (14:51, 12 May 2025)

Hi! Is it possible to find out why a particular Wiki Page (not created by me) was taken down? --WordsmithPea (talk) 14:51, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello WordsmithPea, and welcome! The best way would be to look at the logs for the page where, if it has been deleted, there will be a reason from the admin who did so. You would find the log for, for example, salt, at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Salt; in this case it shows the various moves that have been made, but also that the page has not been deleted. Question from AmielRieger (14:07, 13 May 2025)

Hello Lindsay,

I am a developer in a company and we are seeking to convert a large amount of articles to voice.

I work at a company that does text to voice/speech conversions and we are wanting to do our part in converting articles to sound.

I was trying to use the API to fetch the content of the articles. If I fetch individual / single requests all is good. However I had a series of requests, many many of which failed.

I realize I need to set API user agent parameters and hence I turn to you to seek assistance in this matter.

Best regards

Amiel --AmielRieger (talk) 14:07, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello Amiel; welcome. I am afraid that i am not a tech-y editor; i know and understand very little of how the interface works and what drives it. There are, however, people and places you can ask. A good place to begin is the Teahouse which exists to support newer editors. Another, maybe more appropriate, would be the Village Pump, specifically the Technical branch of the Pump. A huge number of questions have been asked before, so i would suggest looking through the FAQs and maybe searching the Archives before actually asking the question; i know i have found answers there without in fact having to ask ~ LindsayHello 16:23, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Prdarshi (06:30, 19 May 2025)

Hello ! hope you are doing well. I am a professor working in a college named Lachoo Memorial College of Science and Technology. Earlier I was able to see wikipage about it, but now when I search for it, it redirects me to another page, Jai Narain Vyas University. Please help me how can i make the page visible again. --Prdarshi (talk) 06:30, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello {U|Prdarshi}}; welcome. Every article on Wikipedia maintains a "history" page which show almost every single edit every made to the article, so it is possible to trace what has happened and, often, why. If you look at its history you can see that Lachoo Memorial College has been changed to a redirect which, as you say, points to Jai Narain Vyas University. Looking at the edit summaries there, it appears that an editor decided that there was not enough of value, by way of content and references, in the article to keep it, nor did it meet our notabiity guidelines, so redirected it and, later, another editor agreed. It is possible to change their edits, but only if you have sufficient content to support an article and, i suspect, because the college is not notable, that won't exist. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news ~ LindsayHello 07:01, 19 May 2025 (UTC) extra ping ~ Prdarshi ~ to make up for the one i messed up on ~ LindsayHello 18:05, 21 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Ted64050 (12:45, 20 May 2025)

I have a question that might not be related to editing. I was a Wikipedia member several years ago and I changed email addresses when I changed internet providers. Is it possible to re-establish with my past account? --Ted64050 (talk) 12:45, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello Ted64050; welcome. As far as i understand it, without email access it is not possible to get back to an old account you have not got the password for. Your best bet is to read this page and if you still need to ask at the WP:TEAHOUSE where people who are more knowledgeable than i may well hang out ~ LindsayHello 18:08, 21 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello I unable to create a wiki page every time is been deleted --NUJ001 (talk) 05:27, 21 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello NUJ001, and welcome. I haven't seen any of your contributions or creations as i am not an admin so cannot see deleted edits; i have taken a look at your talk page, however, and notice that at least three editors, including two admins, have written to you there with the information you are asking me about. I suggest you look at your talk page, take their advice to heart, and start to edit constructively within the bounds of the community's needs, restrictions, and desires ~ LindsayHello 18:13, 21 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from OurNationSong (05:23, 22 May 2025)

I want to put a song on the site. --OurNationSong (talk) 05:23, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello OurNationSong, and welcome to Wikipedia. It's not clear exactly what you mean, so i'll answer the two questions i see, but you should feel free to come back and clarify or ask again if i have misunderstood.
 1. If you mean that you have the file of a song which would be a meaningful addition to a particular article, bearing in mind the requirements of copyright and notability, then Wikipedia:Media is the place to look for information;
 2. If, however, you mean that you have a song of your own that you would like to put on the site in general for people to hear, well i'm afraid that this is not the place for that; we are not YouTube or that kind of a social media site, so such a song would not be appropriate.

Again, if i can help in any way, or if i have misunderstood, please feel free to ask again/another question ~ LindsayHello 17:44, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Guders (15:22, 22 May 2025)

Hey how do I create a business here --Guders (talk) 15:22, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello Guders; welcome. The short but accurate answer is, you don't. This is a site for the collection and dissemination of knowledge freely throughout the world, not a business nor a place for people to set up businesses. Question from Angelina Bharwaa (15:31, 23 May 2025)

I have just created a wikipedia account and want to edit the whole article about my friend's filmography --Angelina Bharwaa (talk) 15:31, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello, Angelina Bharwaa, and welcome to Wikipedia. I have to say that i would encourage you not to edit any article about someone you know personally; it would be very difficult to avoid doing so lacking objectivity. I would suggest you take a look at WP:COI and understand why we have such guidelines. I urge you, instead, to edit elsewhere and, at most, make suggestions on the talk page of the article on your friend's filmography, being clear as anything when you do so about your connexion to your friend. Talk pages are a good place for conversations about the subject. If i can help you in any other way, please feel free to ask ~ LindsayHello 18:32, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from BW26 on Draft:Greece-North Korea relations (22:06, 26 May 2025)

How do I add an image? --BW26 (talk) 22:06, 26 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello BW26. You should read the advice i gave you the last time you asked this exact question three weeks ago, further up this page. I will quote mine answer to make it easy for you: The best thing to do is to read IMAGES, which is the basic guide to using pictures; it has a lot of links to useful guides and information about why, where, and how to edit them, and also what kind of images and also, importantly, what kind not to use. That page is the best place to start learning how to use and add images ~ LindsayHello 04:29, 27 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Ofcalive (15:51, 29 May 2025)

Hello so i am founder of Encore co. and wanted to add info about it on wikipedia its related to discord and some I.T. solution tools so how could i do it? is it free? --Ofcalive (talk) 15:51, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello Ofcalive and welcome to Wikipedia. The short answer is that you should not edit any article about anything with which you may have a conflict of interest (a COI, as we call it): It would be too difficult for you to be neutral and properly evaluate and present information. This COI would certainly include a company or organisation you founded, so i suggest that you cannot add the information you want to. The very most you can do, if there is already a page on Encore, is go the the talk page, disclose your COI, and make suggestions for other editors to evaluate. If there is not currently an article, wait; if Encore is notable enough for one, someone (other than you) will start it. I know that this is not advice you probably want to receive but, trust me, it is the best i can give you. Please feel free to answer or ask another question here if you want ~ LindsayHello 21:32, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

Hi, Lindsay H.,

Hope that all is well. I was wondering how to delete my user page called user:CaringGrace/autismmasking. --CaringGrace (talk) 19:34, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello CaringGrace; welcome! Edit the page and at the top put db-u1 and in the edit summary just indicate that you want the page deleted. Hello again, CaringGrace; i was tired when i answered previously and didn't realise that it is probably your sandbox that you are talking about ~ User:CaringGrace/sandbox ~ right? Question from SarahButler0001 (08:43, 9 June 2025)

Hi Lynsey, I don't know where to start with all this! I am not a programmer. Are you available to speak on a video call to offer guidance/tutoring please? Best Wishes Sarah --SarahButler0001 (talk) 08:43, 9 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello Sarah! Welcome! I agree, when starting out Wikipedia can seem very daunting ~ i was afraid to just about anything when i first started ~ but it is actually a resilient site and pretty much nothing you or i do is going to harm it. Though it appears to be difficult, in the basics editing and helping out is, in fact, surprisingly easy: I haven't done any programming for...lots of years, but i am able to make my way around here without the need for any of those skills, and i have no doubt that you will too. You have already done some of the most basic stuff in putting your statement on your user page and asking this question here: Pressing the "Edit" button, typing something, then pressing "Publish" is just how easy it is ~ the difficulty comes in knowing what to type, how to phrase it, how to reference it, and how to interact with other members of the community. I cannot offer to help over a video call, but please do ask questions here and i will do my very best to answer and help if i can. Anyway, i am pleased to meet you and hope you take the plunge, stick around, and become a functioning member of the community ~ LindsayHello 09:03, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply Lyndsay. Is my page up and published? SarahButler0001 (talk) 16:35, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Certainly, Sarah ~ just click on your name where you signed your question, or even right here, where i have put a link to your user page. I read it when i first saw your question, that's how i know you have a potential conflict of interest with Cronos Wellbeing Solutions, and i imagine how Acroterion knew too, and why he put a template message about conflicts of interest on your talk page ~ here. As well as the COI message, the template he left has a number of good links you can click on to learn more about how and where to start, thus answering your original question. But, of course, you are free to ask me, if you like, back here on my talk page, if i can help ~ LindsayHello 17:39, 9 June 2025 (UTC) Acroterion, ping just for politeness' sake, because i mentioned you!

Question from Bwizalpha (11:56, 10 June 2025)

Hello! Can you explain to me about this kind of "editing" What to edit? Thank you. --Bwizalpha (talk) 11:56, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello Bwizalpha, and welcome! That is a very open-ended couple of questions! "What to edit?" Well, in short, whatever catches your interest, whatever you feel like: There are no assignments, we are all volunteers and do what we choose. I, for example, often correct simple errors or grammar or formatting; some are image specialists, spending hours and days improving pictures or taking new ones, then adding them to appropriate articles; others give their time to researching sources and writing a range of articles based on the content (though not the words) of those sources; and then there are some who are specialists with a specialist's knowledge of a particular area, and they use sources they're aware of, many times that others may not be aware of, to improve our coverage of their own area. So, "what to edit?" Well, what do you feel like editing? ~ LindsayHello 13:28, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
I guess i could have done a bit more explaining in response to your first query; there is a huge amount of help available for newcomers on how to edit, with quantities of guides and manuals and directions. Two very good ones are the Introduction and the guide to how; i suggest you take a look at them, see what you can find, and decide what you want to edit, probably very small, experimental edits at first, and try. There is also the Teahouse, which is a great place for new contributors to ask questions and look at what others have asked and learned. i hope this helps; of course, you are free to ask me any further questions you like, here on my talk page, and if i can, i will answer ~ LindsayHello 13:33, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Thanks a lot.I well understand what to do. 154.68.70.184 (talk) 13:36, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from Shauneasthope (13:25, 13 June 2025)

Hello, first time editor. What have I done wrong with my edits? --Shauneasthope (talk) 13:25, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello Shauneasthope; welcome! I have not looked in detail yet, but the first thing i notice is that the only page you have edited (other than this, my talk page) is Shaun Easthope, and i have to assume (as will every other experienced editor) that this is not a coincidence: Either you are claiming to be Shaun Easthope or you are representing him or, possibly, focussed only on editing the article about him; all three of these are undesirable traits. First, if you are this person, we do not recommend writing about yourself; the talk page at the end of this link is the place to make suggestions and give information. Second, if you are representing him or being paid to edit about him, you have a Conflict of Interest, and we do not permit such editing without the fact of payment or representation being declared openly on your user page. Third, if you have no relationship with him, you need to change your account name as names implying that an editor is someone they aren't are not good. There are a couple of messages on your talk page which explain some of this from a couple of other editors. That being said, at least one of those messages is unacceptable and i am going to go to the editor's talk page and leave them a message, as it is clear that you are editing in good faith, trying to improve the encyclopaedia; i apologise for the reception you have been given. I hope that you will stick around, and if i can offer any further help, please do not hesitate to ask, here or on your talk page, if you link to me like this ~ LindsayH ~ i will get the message and answer ~ LindsayHello 22:16, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from Cordifolium (18:57, 14 June 2025)

Is there any way i can get (mostly) danish editing recommendations? Right now it only suggest english language articles, and i want to make the danish side better. --Cordifolium (talk) 18:57, 14 June 2025 (UTC)

Hmm, not certain i understand just what you mean, Cordifolium, as this is the English Wikipedia. Do you perhaps want to edit the Danish Wikipedia, here? Or do you mean coverage of Danish related articles here on en.Wikipedia? If the former, i'm sure there is a programme there which you can use; i imagine something like our mentoring programme, and places like our Teahouse to ask at. If you meant the latter, i would suggest that Portal:Denmark is the place to go; specifically, that page has a "Tasks" section for suggestions on how to help. I hope that this answers your query; if i can help in any other way, please feel free to ask ~ LindsayHello 19:35, 14 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from Roger Rave Wilkinson (11:24, 15 June 2025)

Hello !

I am 63 years old and currently living in Scotland. I was born and raised in Rhodesia; my father was British and my mother Cypriot.

I lived in South Africa for a few years, working at Sun City, and have travelled extensively. I began visiting Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in the 1980s, including a three-week stay in 1992—what was meant to be a short visit became a 30-year residency.

My DJ career began in Harare, Zimbabwe, in 1981, and that same year I was voted Zimbabwe’s Top DJ. I also appeared as a guest on several radio talk shows.

Over the years, I performed as a DJ in many of Zimbabwe’s leading nightclubs and continued my entertainment career in Dubai from 1992 onward. During this time, I also worked as a compère, auctioneer, and MC for numerous high-profile events, including providing rugby commentary for various tournaments such as the Dubai 7s.

While remaining active in the entertainment industry, I founded an IT company in the UAE and travelled throughout the Middle East presenting seminars. I also wrote articles for newspapers and magazines. I served on several business committees, including the British Business Group, the South African Business Council, and others. I also chaired the Great British Day committee.

Through this work, I had the honour of meeting local sheikhs and associating with many global dignitaries, including Margaret Thatcher, Nelson Mandela, members of the British Royal Family, and numerous international celebrities and sports personalities. I also appeared as a guest on a Dubai TV talk show.

I am currently on the committee of a rugby club in Glasgow and continue to work in entertainment across Scotland and the UK, primarily at large Southern African events.

I have led a colourful and public life, deeply involved in both entertainment and business for several decades.

I have supporting documentation and many photographs covering all of the above.

My question is: do I qualify to have a Wikipedia page about myself? --Roger Rave Wilkinson (talk) 11:24, 15 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello Roger Rave Wilkinson, and welcome to Wikipedia. Sounds as though you have had a fascinating and varied life; i hope you are still healthy and enjoying it. I have no idea what you know about Wikipedia or, indeed, if you have any experience editing it, so i will start with basics; please, forgive me if i say things you already know.
The way we determine if a person (or any subject, topic, event or thing) qualifies for an article is to determine if they are what we call notable; we define this as having mentions in reliable sources, that is sources other than Wikipedia writing about the subject which verifies for us the facts, which others (readers or editors) can also use for verification. A few links here which explain these concepts probably better than i have: WP:NOTABILITY talks about how we determine article subjects; WP:RELIABLESOURCES gives the basics of how we verify what we write; WP:VERIFIABILITY explains why we need sources and what they are used for. So the answer to your question is another question: Are there independent, reliable sources which give information about your life in a way that can be checked by others?
A more important point, however, and one i would be doing you a disservice if i ignored it, is that we strongly ~ strongly ~ urge against editors writing about themselves. There is, naturally, a link i can give you and this i suggest you read: WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY which tells why it is a bad idea to write about yourself. The concept goes further, in that most editors won't write about subjects they have any real relationship with ~ in my case, for example, one of my brothers-in-law is notable and, while i have read the article on him i haven't edited it and won't. The upshot of this is that if you are notable someone else will create an article on you; you can make suggestions, if that happens, that's one of the reasons articles have talk pages, but that is all you should limit yourself to. I hope this is not disappointing to you; better to be told the truth up-front, though, than find out the community's feelings through a later, poorer, experience ~ LindsayHello 13:28, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply, the contents have been noted.

Hello hello :) so, i have tried and edited a page, but, it got rejector or? how can i see? --Dimitar.najdenov1 (talk) 11:46, 25 June 2025 (UTC)

@Dimitar.najdenov1, hello. I have not looked in detail at your edit - i'm not currently in a position to do so - but i note that the edit to the chemical company was reverted by someone as not being written from a neutral point of view (this is what NPOV stands for). Some of what you wrote definitely looks like boosterism of the company, though i suspect some, the additional information in the infobox, for example, would be acceptable if you have a source for it. I suggest you could read and learn from WP:NPOV, which will likely help you understand ~ LindsayHello 14:30, 25 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from Stu8882 (10:26, 27 June 2025)

Hello I dream of horses.

I was just wondering how. you can start a new page?. I am very interested in Irish History and wish to publish an article. Additionally what are the source requirements? do they all have to be academic? Many thanks indeed. --Stu8882 (talk) 10:26, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello Stu8882, and welcome.
First, i am not I dream of horses' talk page; i am an editor called LindsayH; i don't know how you made that error, but no matter, i will try to answer your question (as well as give a shout to I dream of horses just so she's aware).
Second, it is outstandingly easy to start a page, and i'll point you in the right direction in a moment, but the first thing to do, though, is to be sure that a page your particular subject is needed. We only keep pages on subjects we call notable, which has the fairly specific meaning for us of having sufficient coverage in reliable sources. (You can read more about notability at the end of this link WP:N, and more on sources here WP:RS.) The point is that we don't write what we know, rather we summarise what other people have written.
Third, if your subject is notable, has it already been covered? It may be that it has, but under a slightly different title, so use the search function and see what can be found. It's also possible that your subject is covered in a different form ~ for example, if you planned an article on the books of Daphne du Maurier, you'd soon discover that the vast majority of them already have individual articles, so yours may just be going over already covered ground.
Fourth, if the subject is notable and is not covered elsewhere, then start the article. There is good guidance at the end of this link HELP:YFA; some is what i have already mentioned, but a lot is not and is good technical help on editing and publishing using your own experimental area or what is called Draftspace. I hope all this is helpful ~ LindsayHello 15:08, 28 June 2025 (UTC) I dream of horses, ping, just because you were mentioned, Lindsay

Question from Aarder123 (20:30, 18 June 2025)

So why are some articles editor locked and some are not --Aarder123 (talk) 20:30, 18 June 2025 (UTC)

@Aarder123 ~ welcome. Certain articles draw vandals, such as those on bodily functions or sex; others draw arguments and radically POV edits, such as ethnic or nationalist subjects; others have targets of abuse as the subject, such as controversial people, and thus are targets for nasty edits. Each of these subjects, can be protected at differing levels by administrators; the vast majority aren't. Hope this helps, please ask if there's more i can help with ~ LindsayHello 20:20, 19 June 2025 (UTC)

Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates

Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Candidates.

Here is the schedule:

 • July 9–15 - Call for candidates
 • July 18–22 - Discussion phase
 • July 23–29 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

 • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
 • Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
 • The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
 • The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
 • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

You're receiving this message because you signed up for the mailing list. To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the list.

Question from Glonnadiyedits (15:37, 23 June 2025)

Hi LindsayH,

I'm contributing to a draft article about David de Ferranti as part of a paid assignment (which I’ve disclosed per Wikipedia policy).

I’m trying to find a freely licensed image of him to upload to Commons but haven’t had any luck so far.

Some images have no clear license, how do i know it's okay to use or not.

Would you be willing to assist or advise on how to locate an eligible photo? I want to make sure I follow all Commons and Wikipedia rules properly. I will be grateful. --Glonnadiyedits (talk) 15:37, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

@Glonnadiyedits, hi. Not mine intention to be unhelpful, but i know very little about images, and am away from my PC, so navigating with the phone is silly. I think there is a board you can get advice at, maybe at WP: IMAGES, or ask for advice at the WP: TEAHOUSE ~ LindsayHello 18:20, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Mepperelf

Hi. I noticed that you, like me, have taken umbrage with Mepperelf's disruptive edits. I have begun rolling them back. Feel free to help, if you wish. ✠Saltymagnolia✠ 15:42, 15 July 2025 (UTC)

Haha ~ i think you mean that you are now helping me ~ for which i'm grateful! I've done maybe a hundred and twenty reverts today, as well as several messages on his talk page. I hope he doesn't start again tomorrow, because i really don't want this to escalate ~ LindsayHello 15:50, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
@LindsayH you'd think he'd get the message by now. It's not just the potential inaccuracies this might introduce into an otherwise accurate article, simply removing the "redundant" phrase without editing the remainder of the sentence is flat-out lazy, and makes sentences a lot more stilted.
Ugh.... my OCD is showing again. ✠Saltymagnolia✠ 15:54, 15 July 2025 (UTC)

CS1 error on Marcopolo S.A.

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Marcopolo S.A., may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

 • A bare URL error. References show this error when one of the URL-containing parameters cannot be paired with an associated title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 09:28, 5 October 2025 (UTC)

Nope; neither edit is me introducing an error; the bot has misread the edit which merely modified a previously incorrect/less than perfect citation. And, yes, i'm replying to a bot merely for my current peace of mind and future clarity ~ LindsayHello 11:29, 5 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from EphGross (23:42, 16 June 2025)

Hi, I would like to publish a page about an issue quite close to me. Would I be able to show you a draft before I try publishing it? Thanks Eph --EphGross (talk) 23:42, 16 June 2025 (UTC)

@EphGross certainly. Right at the moment i am away from home and my PC, and i don't edit well on the phone, but i'm happy to take a look and see if I can help. Just link to it here and i can see it ~ LindsayHello 20:24, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
Hi Lindsay, thanks for offering to help.
Here is the draft: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sabeny_Kosher_Groceries_Online
This topic is quite close to me, as someone who keeps kosher and works in tech, I’ve often felt that the kosher grocery space in the UK has lagged behind when it comes to digital access. So when I saw Sabeny being written about in multiple outlets for trying to modernise that space, I thought it was worth contributing an article to Wikipedia.
I submitted it and received feedback from a reviewer (Cactusisme), who initially tagged it for deletion but then offered guidance on how to improve it. I followed that advice and rewrote it to remove promotional tone, expanded the operational and market details, and made sure everything is supported by third-party independent coverage (Jewish Press, Jewish News, KosherLDN, and Business Mole).
After resubmitting, a third reviewer then declined it, saying it reads like advertising and lacks reliable sourcing. I’m not trying to promote the company, just to reflect what’s been covered independently, in a neutral way.
If you can take a look when you’re back at a screen, I wouldd be really grateful for any suggestions you might have on how to improve it further to make it acceptable.
Thanks EphGross (talk) 12:57, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
Hi EphGross. I apologise for the delay in replying; since early summer i have gone through a couple of periods when editing has been difficult, so i haven't managed to get around to everything i wanted to. So, i have looked at the draft article and, though you have improved it since Cactusisme reviewed it, i note that it has been declined again, for similar reasons, by another reviewer. I would have to say that i tend to agree with Cactus and MCE89, though i suspect i might have approved it myself and allowed it to go to Articles for Discussion to see what the community consensus is, rather than immediately declining as they did.
All that aside, however, do i have any suggestions? Yes ~ if you are still interested in the article and its potential i would:
 1. See if we have any useful articles on similar subjects ~ are there any article on the kosher food market in the UK (or elsewhere) currently, or on similar companies in the US or Australia, for example? If so, that gives you something to model yours on or possibly ideas for expansion in showing the background need for such a company;
 2. Be sure the draft read at all like an advert; it should be more neutral (not praising or criticising the subject), and encyclopaedic (delivery charges, for example, aren't encyclopaedic);
 3. Find more independent references, if possible. Is there anything which shows how it is/was financed, for example, or who founded it, or, even, how widely it is used; the more "general" the sources for such information (i.e. rather The Times than Jewish News) the better, i think;
 1. Consider that it may be the subject would be better folded into an existing article (Kosher food in the UK or some such) rather than trying to be a standalone without sufficient backing or sources.
I hope that these suggestions are helpful to you; if i can help in any other way, please feel free to come back here and ask again. Happy editing ~ LindsayHello 12:18, 5 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Glonnadiyedits (19:29, 21 June 2025)

Hello, 1. Can you kindly review my paid editing disclosure and confirm it's compliant? 2. How can I avoid getting my edits reverted or flagged as promotional? 3. Are there red flags I should watch for that might get an article deleted even if I follow the rules? Thank you! --Glonnadiyedits (talk) 19:29, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

@Glonnadiyedits hello, welcome. Unfortunately, i am away from my PC at the moment, and editing on mobile is not at all satisfactory, so this will be a very brief answer. Your declaration on your userpage looks good. I would suggest that there are links you can read, i think WP:PAID is one, which should help answer questions. Ultimately, the best answer to your question is twofold - be open about your paid status, and edit as though you're not being paid, i.e., be completely NPOV, don't puff up your subject, give all sides to any subject you edit on. Hope this helps ~ LindsayHello 20:15, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi; i don't see why it would be a problem to make unpaid edits; to be honest, though, i would probably have another account, if you find you are wanting to make random non-paid edits, and dedicate the second account to them, and use Glonnadiyedits solely for the paid edits you're wanting to make. If you do decide to go this route, be sure to link the two accounts by indicating on the userpages that they are both you (as an example, you can see on my user page at user:LindsayH that i indicate that i have alternate accounts, and why, and i link to them in order to be fully open ~ LindsayHello 12:24, 5 October 2025 (UTC)

Nobel Prize Controversies.

Hello. I was about to remove the irrelevant cite that was appearing at the head of the page. In the meanwhile, could you suggest a relevant page where this well researched excerpt can be included? In fact, I think, maybe we could, perhaps, include an additional heading for nominations? In fact, now I see that it is already suggested that article be split. And as far as "Peace Prize" is concerned, it is rife with controversies over both winners and nominations. That alone warrants a page of its own. Don't you think? Ritwik Deuba

Question from FamilyLore (19:05, 27 July 2025)

Hi Lindsay,

My name is Ali. A few days ago, I created a draft Wikipedia entry for my great-grandfather, who was a significant courtier, politician, and administrator in Iran during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Unfortunately, there isn’t much published or online information about him in English, which I believe is part of the challenge with getting the entry accepted.

However, there is a detailed biographical account in a reputable Persian-language book. I suggested to the reviewing editor that I could translate and reference this material, and I’m waiting for their response.

Could you advise me on how best to move forward? I’m pursuing this both as a family and cultural project — I’m also writing a significant (~8000 words) book about him — and I genuinely believe this entry would add historical value.

I’d appreciate any insights or suggestions you can share.

Warmly,

Ali --FamilyLore (talk) 19:05, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

Hello Ali, and welcome. I don't know if you did, but you should certainly have cited the account from the book you mention, even if it is in Persian; references do not have to be in English, though it helps if they are; if i were writing an article depending solely or almost so on non-English sources i would cite the source where ever needed, and give a quotation in the reference itself to support what i wrote. It would also be ideal, of course, if there were more than one source the article depended upon. What i see as the bigger issue, however, is that writing about one's family ~ even, in mine opinion, distant relations ~ is strongly advised against in our conflict of interest guidelines; you can read about it here, at our COI guideline. Apart from anything else, it is extremely difficult to neutrally evaluate the notability of things we are connected to, so it's best to allow others to. If you do decide, despite this, to go ahead with an article on this man, i urge you to be very open about the potential for COI, err on the side "against" your interest, and document and reference everything. I hope this is helpful; if i can answer any further questions, or give any other help, please don't hesitate to ask me ~ LindsayHello 06:53, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Question from Chusella969 (09:46, 29 July 2025)

How can I provide information in References? --Chusella969 (talk) 09:46, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

Hello Chusella969, and welcome. That's quite a vague question, so i'll answer a couple of things you might mean:
 1. To actually insert references you can use this format: ; usually i prefer a CS1 template, which you can learn about at this link HELP:CS1. The result is usually something like this . If you open a page with references and press the edit button, you can look at the source code which shows you how references have been done
 2. To find references, that's more complicated, and depends on your ability to search ~ libraries, books, websites, reference works, et cetera, and then your dexterity in using the sources you find to substantiate what you have written
I hope this is a bit helpful for you ~ LindsayHello 13:29, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

Shelby Mackay is a Canadian singer-songwriter and producer based in Toronto, Ontario. She is known for her emotionally rich, sonically vivid music that blends electronic, pop, and experimental genres. Mackay writes, records, and produces her own work, often crafting immersive soundscapes that explore vulnerability, transformation, and identity.

In 2025, she was featured in ArtistRecap as “Canada’s Wild Card,” a spotlight that praised her genre-defying style and introspective songwriting.[1] Her work has gained traction across streaming platforms and independent music circles, earning recognition for its raw emotional depth and innovative production. Hello Jacquelinelove; welcome. I'm not certain i understand your problem as, so far as i know, a desktop PC by no means necessary for creating an article. I can see that you have obviously done some writing and created the above section, and even given it one reference (though i haven't taken a look to see if it is a Reliable Source by our definition, nor have i searched for Mackay to see if i can determine if she is WP:NOTABLE enough to warrant an article. Why can you not create it? Have you been to Wikipedia:Articles for creation to see if it can be created there? There is all sorts of advice and help at that page, so i suggest that is where you go.
Incidentally, though i'm not offended by it, i suggest that you do not edit other editors' pages ~ other than the actual conversational sections of a talk page ~ as you did mine because it can be taken as rude behaviour; i am going to revert your edits, because that is how i choose to have my introduction to this page read.

@PaulMMCooper I'm very sorry, i'm having difficulty connecting to the Web at the moment, so can't reply. I hope another is able to help you ~ LindsayHello 18:44, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
Hello Paul; i seem to be back online now, so i can give you a better response than my previous. I've looked at both the page and the talk page and, though i am not an expert on COI just an ordinary editor, mine own opinion is that once it has been given the once-over by an editor other than you to vet the neutrality there is no reason for the tag to stay on the article itself; the talk page is a different matter, as i think it should stay there indefinitely ~ and i commend you for your openness in declaring your COI as too many don't. I'm pleased to see that Heavy Grasshopper says he believes it is notable, as that is one of the most basic things people with a COI are unable to determine. I can't promise i will immediately, but i shall try over the next week or so to at least take a closer look at the page and see how i feel about its neutrality. If i can help in any other way, please feel free to ask me, cheers ~ LindsayHello 13:51, 22 August 2025 (UTC)

Hi I'm trying to create my page but do not know how to, I would like to upload our league logo and write a description about our league. --Legacyfootballalliance (talk) 19:45, 14 August 2025 (UTC)

Hello Legacyfootballalliance, and welcome to Wikipedia; i hope you are taking time to explore and learn about how the community here works. There is an issue with your desire to write about your league and that is that it is extremely difficult to write in a neutral fashion about a subject one is involved with. We have a whole guideline about this at WP:COI where you can learn why it is very strongly discouraged and how to do it, if you must, in an open and clear fashion. I recommend you read that page before creating any page about the league; in addition, i suggest it is best to learn to edit slowly before actually creating a page. There is a lot of help available, the best way is to, maybe, read a page like H:EDIT and then find a very simple edit you might make ~ correcting a typographical error, for example, which allows you to learn by doing. Hi Lindsay, I'd like to add a page about myself. What's the process to do that? --Dewan.ahmed (talk) 15:33, 21 August 2025 (UTC)

Hello, Dewan.ahmed, welcome. The short, though perhaps unwelcome, answer is that you don't. If you are truly notable (see WP:NOTABILITY to find out what that means), than someone else will create a page about you. Writing about yourself is a very bad idea, as you cannot be neutral about such a personal topic; try reading WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY for a fuller explanation. This link https://ggbooks.ca/past-winners-and-finalists appears to be the source of truth for all of these awards since 1936. (talk page stalker) @Ibarlet: Hey there and welcome - you can actually reuse a citation multiple times in an article, Help:Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor/4 has information on how this can be accomplished.
Regarding the content itself, we generally follow the policy of verifiability to determine where citations should be placed throughout an article. You can add them as you see fit in ensuring the content can be backed up by the source. ~Liancetalk 14:35, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

I am trying to write articles for the missing pages of service sororities/fraternities. After reaching out, they share most of their information on blogs or in facebook groups, which are not reliable. Question from LynnOConnorF on O Diabo (1977) (15:13, 25 September 2025)

Hello How do I create a citation? --LynnOConnorF (talk) 15:13, 25 September 2025 (UTC)

Hello LynnOConnorF, and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm sorry i've been a little slow in answering; i hope this will help. There are a couple of page you can look at to help with adding references, you can fine them at WP:REF and especially WP:INLINECITE and WP:IL. For me, the easiest way to add a citation is to use a pair of tags and then use a CS1 template between the tags (where i have put "X"). You can learn about these templates at HELP:CS1; the simplest to use is usually cite web which requires an URL and website and title, as explained in the HELP link i gave. I hope this is helpful information for you; if i can help in any other way (or if this need clarifying!), please do ask and i will try to answer quickly ~ LindsayHello 11:40, 5 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from CasualWaiter (19:13, 25 September 2025)

Hi there! How are you? I'm new to editing on Wikipedia and I would really like to be a pro like y'all one day,so... can you please assist me? --CasualWaiter (talk) 19:13, 25 September 2025 (UTC)

Hello CasualWaiter, and welcome to Wikipedia. Apologies for the delay in answering you. I would be happy to help, but you'll need to be a bit more specific.... Probably the best advice i can give you is to read some of the help and advice pages we have; you'll find a whole lot of them available starting at HELP:INTRODUCTION ~ just start clicking and following the links you're offered. Of course, if you have a specific or precise question, i am very happy to offer answers if i can (by no means do i know a lot, but i do usually know where to start looking); just come back here to my talk page and ask me again! ~ LindsayHello 11:45, 5 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Hydroiodic acid (10:44, 3 October 2025)

Hello, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_cyanide#cite_note-14 (https://omim.org/search?index=entry&start=1&limit=10&search=omim/304300&sort=score+desc&field=number) Doesn't return the document. Should i remove the citation? --Hydroiodic acid (talk) 10:44, 3 October 2025 (UTC)

Hello Hydroiodic acid, welcome! I would not remove the citation: Presumably it was correct at some point, when added, so it is reasonable to leave it. What you might do, however, is see if the Internet Archive has a live copy of the link, that can be added to a CS1 template or, if there is truly no way to find a copy of the original citation, you can append to the reference. Does this help? ~ LindsayHello 11:50, 5 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Kasule Fred (04:57, 6 October 2025)

Hello,

Hope this text finds you well. I would like to make my profile visible. Kindly advise.

Thanks. --Kasule Fred (talk) 04:57, 6 October 2025 (UTC)

Hello Kasule Fred and welcome. I am not sure exactly what you mean, so i shall answer the two things it seems you may be referring to.
 • If you mean that you want to write an article about yourself and appear in the encyclopaedia, i can only say, "Don't!" If you are WP:NOTABLE, at some point someone else will;
 • If, on the other hand, you mean that you want something on your user page, at user:Kasule Fred, you simply edit it like any other page and put, within certain limitations, what you want on it. To help out, i have simply created the page for you with a single character on it; you can remove that and make it as you like ~ LindsayHello 09:56, 12 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Tech wikiboy (21:25, 7 October 2025)

Hii, I’m a bit confused about the following error: cite news: Empty citation (help): Check date values in: |access-date= and |date= (help).

Could you please help me understand how to fix this issue? --Tech wikiboy (talk) 21:25, 7 October 2025 (UTC)

Hello Tech wikiboy, welcome. Well, you've not told me where you found that error, so i can't help exactly, but i can ask, did you follow the "help" link in what you copy/pasted? It takes you to Help:CS1 errors#empty citation, where you can learn that the error is caused when there is information in the CS1 cite which is not linked to to a parameter ~ in other words, the CS1 template doesn't know how to interpret the information (i.e., doesn't know if it's a date or a title or a language or...). So, the solution is to go to where you found the error code and tell the template what the information is by putting in the correct parameter. If this isn't clear i recommend following the help link, and if that's not clear, feel free to come back here and ask again and i'll see if i can be more precise if you give me more information ~ LindsayHello 10:12, 12 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Mehecht (12:42, 13 October 2025)

Hi. I have a submissions i would like to make. I drafted it and coded it. Where do I send it? --Mehecht (talk) 12:42, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

Hi Mehecht, welcome, and how are you? The best place i can point you is to Your First Article, a page with lots of helpful information which i suggest you read; i'd also recommend that you follow the advice (since this is your first article) and submit it as a draft for review. Is this helpful? I hope so; if not, of course, you are absolutely free to come back here, to my talk page, and ask again or for more information. Again, welcome, i hope you have a good article which is published, and i hope you stick around ~ LindsayHello 14:27, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Dharmendardas on SHA-3 (10:31, 15 October 2025)

Hii, what I do I'm not undestanding this platform --Dharmendardas (talk) 10:31, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

Hello Dharmendardas, and welcome. That's a very broad sort of question/statement, and i'm not really sure i can answer helpfully. I suggest that you look at this introduction page and see if that helps. Beyond that, you could try the Wikipedia Adventure, which is a learning tool much like a game to introduce how the site/platform works or perhaps some of the very large number of help pages, such as Help Editing. I hope that this is some useful information; if not, feel free to ask a slightly more focussed question here ~ or, indeed, at the Teahouse, where very knowledgeable editors offer answers ~ LindsayHello 14:42, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Bersot12 (14:15, 4 November 2025)

In the **Yom Kippur War** article The article's own infobox currently states the result as "Inconclusive / Both sides claim victory", which is supported by multiple reliable sources cited in the article:

Ref [12]: Oren, Michael B. (2002). Six Days of War. Oxford University Press. p. 305. → Describes the war as ending in a "military stalemate". Ref [15]: Herzog, Chaim (2003). The Arab-Israeli Wars. Vintage. p. 342. → Notes that "neither side achieved a decisive victory". Ref [19]: Rabinovich, Abraham (2004). The Yom Kippur War. Schocken. p. 498. → States the war ended in a "ceasefire with no clear winner". Ref [23]: Bawendi, Moungi G. (1979). The War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur War. Harvard University Press. → Concludes the outcome was "strategically inconclusive".

Additionally, the lead section says:

"The war ended with a ceasefire, with neither side achieving its political objectives, and both claiming victory." (Supported by citations [6], [9], [14]).

Therefore, describing the war as "inconclusive" is not original research — it is the consensus of the cited scholarly sources and the article's current framing. Any change to "Israeli victory" or "Arab victory" would require new high-quality sources that override this established consensus. --Bersot12 (talk) 14:15, 4 November 2025 (UTC)

Hello Bersot12, welcome to Wikipedia. If you have anything to say on an article and its subject, the talk page of that article is the place to go ~ in this particular instance, that would be talk:Yom Kippur War. I will warn you, however, that this article falls under a series of editing restrictions because of disruptive and problematic editors and edits in the past; one result of this is that newcomers often find it difficult to get a hearing ~ so much so that in many such areas an editor is required to be "extended confirmed" (that is, with thirty days experience and at least 500 edits) before being able to edit. Furthermore, though perhaps of slightly less importance, it appears to me that you have used an LLM or other AI tool to write here, and the community has very little patience with people who do not communicate in their own words. If i can help in any meaningful way, please do not hesitate to ask ~ LindsayHello 15:24, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
Can you do that? Bersot12 (talk) 21:24, 4 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from DessHolliday (22:06, 3 November 2025)

Hi! I just posted a question to the John Mulaney talk page regarding an updated image. When you have the time, can you review and give us some pointers?

Thanks so much!

~~ --DessHolliday (talk) 22:06, 3 November 2025 (UTC)

Hello DessHolliday, welcome! I'm not certain what sort of pointers you are looking for; you have asked (seconded) a question on that talk page, and the ideal now is to wait and see if anyone has such an image ~ or look actively yourself for a free image of this person and add it to the page. I note that there is a second conversation currently going on there, i haven't followed it up really, though it seems at least tangentially related; i would suggest that Soetermans is a very experienced editor and worth listening to.
Hmm, in case that wasn't helpful, i will repeat the most important thing i wrote in its own paragraph: This is the "DIY encyclopaedia", so i urge you to see if you can find an appropriate free image of John Mulaney to update the page with.
If i can help in any way, please feel free to ask me ~ LindsayHello 15:33, 4 November 2025 (UTC)

I would like to point your attention to our account naming policy, as i suspect your name may be contrary to it. I suggest you read the policy at WP:U, particularly the sections at WP:ORGNAME, WP:REALNAME, and WP:MISLEADNAME. It is not impossible for you to edit, though you should probably request a change to the account's name (that can be done at WP:RENAME if you decide to do so. Question from Karl WB,E (13:26, 20 November 2025)

Hello! I have 3 questions about how to reference correctly.

I am going to add Lemon Demon's album View Monster to the page "List of albums with tracks hidden in the pregap" and I was wondering:

1: Does Wikipedia allow Fandom.com to be used as a reference, all the information is correct, I just don't know if Fandom is in a "Website not to use" list.

2: There is this video ("ALL ABOUT LEMON DEMON'S VIEW MONSTER") and I don't know if I am allowed to use videos like this that have strong language, again however, I can vouch that this video is fully correct in all the information it gives.

3. Does "Date Retrieved" mean what I think it means, the date when you added the reference onto the article?

Sorry if these questions seem a bit silly, I do want to get this right. :) --Karl WB,E (talk) 13:26, 20 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from R.P. Infantino (20:18, 12 December 2025) =

I created an addition to the Beauty and the Beast page, adding my own variant under the North America | United States category, as well as the Modern Uses and Adaptations | Literature. I added a link to my written work but when it's clicked, there is a 404 page instead of the page with my work.

The external link with my variant is https://rpinfantino.com/short_stories_gianna_and_the_ogre.html but it was changed to https://rpinfantino.com/short stories gianna and the ogre.html

I assume the editing process doesn't accept underscores?

If not then why the 404 page and not the page with my variant? --R.P. Infantino (talk) 20:18, 12 December 2025 (UTC)

@R.P. Infantino: Please see your talk page for reasons you should not be adding that link nor content.
Works just fine. It appears your browser, editor, or you changed the underscores to spaces. Please do not add this BTW. It would be considered wp:or and is wp:UGC. Also, you should not be adding it as you have a wp:COI. Thank you Adakiko (talk) 21:43, 12 December 2025 (UTC)

Question from Pointer to Address (11:16, 25 December 2025)

Hark! I'm currently editing a page (self-harm) in an attempt to re-instill its status as a good article. It seems the main issue here was the lack of medical sources. As of sending, I've nearly corrected this.

I noticed on the talk page it mentions any further comments should be made on the discussion page but, I can't find it. Would you be able to help me understand what that means?

I'm also wondering how, once I'm done with my edits, I can have the article re-reviewed?

Thanks! --Pointer to Address (talk) 11:16, 25 December 2025 (UTC)

Question from RMaize (19:26, 28 December 2025)

Hi Lindsay I am excited to know it's possible to connect with Wikipedia. I have old family letters of historical importance. I have been researching the people and events mentioned in the letters using Wikipedia. These letters are from Robert Emmet, the eldest son of Thomas Addis Emmet, to his fiancee and then wife, Rosina Hubley Emmet. The time frame is from 1815 to1817, and then later in 1823 and 1827-28. --RMaize (talk) 19:26, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

Looking higher up on this talk page, it seems many mentee questions aren't being answered.. If you still want to be a mentor, please attempt to respond to questions more actively, otherwise you can resign or mark yourself as away via Special:MentorDashboard. * Pppery * it has begun... 21:33, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
