- Alexander Goehr
formed New Music Manchester, described as a "distinctive, progressive force", with Peter Maxwell Davies, Harrison Birtwistle, Elgar Howarth and John Ogdon. - In 1968, the German artist Bazon Brock created a sign in the style of a high voltage warning saying "der Tod muß abgeschafft werden ..." ("death must be abolished ..."). (2012)
- The art photographers Anna and Bernhard Blume created Kitchen Frenzy and Pure Reason. (2011)
- In the Opernhaus Wuppertal production of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring,
choreographed by Pina Bausch, the dancers performed on a stage covered with soil. (2013) - "Ständchen" (Serenade) by Richard Strauss begins with an appeal to creep out quietly and ends with a climax of expecting a rose to glow from the rapture of the night. (2016)

- The 1510 Gerechtigkeitsspirale, carved on a pew of St. Valentin in Kiedrich declares: "Justice suffered in great need. Truth is slain dead. Faith has lost the battle". (2015)
- "Geh aus, mein Herz, und suche Freud", written by Paul Gerhardt after the Thirty Years War, was translated as "Go Forth, My Heart, and Seek Delight". (2015)
- In her 2021 composition with string orchestra, This too shall pass, Raminta Šerkšnytė used a vibraphone for the flow of time, a violin for the transience of humans, and a "heavenly" cello. (2022)
