300 years ago, a Bach cantata was born: happy new year! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:25, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- Makes me wonder what music from today will anyone care about in 300 years. Happy New Year, Gerda! --Rosiestep (talk) 23:36, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- Good question ;) - inviting you to check out "my" story (fun listen today, full of surprises), music (and memory), and places (pictured by me: the latest uploads) any day! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:37, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
- Today you can watch the 2010 premiere of a violin sonata with the composer also the pianist. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:23, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- Mozart music for today, same procedure as 10 years ago! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:01, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
- 20 January is the 100th birthday of David Tudor (see my story) and the 300th birthday of Bach's cantata Meine Seufzer, meine Tränen, BWV 13, if we go by date instead of occasion as he would have thought, so see my story for last Sunday, and celebrate ;) - I captured 3 cats yesterday - at the usual January retreat - but only one turned out well + I can't decide which of two, and I saw 5 cats around dinner outside but got only one, with too much reflection, but I keep hoping, - will upload eventually --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:18, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

- 21 January means that you were found precious 14 years ago, - here are three cats promenading, and the DYK of the day pictures two women, one who performed in 1951 and 2010, and the other to be created. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:55, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the memory of 14 years ago. Has it really been that? (rhetorical question) Great cats. Last month, I adopted two new kittens: the smaller is a calico while the large one is fluffy black (sort of like in your photo) with a white medallion. Happy to hear that you're back in La Palma. Someday ... I'll get there, too. Read David's article and that of experimental music (which I knew about, but only just now read the wiki article). --Rosiestep (talk) 12:52, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- Couldn't decide for the next, File:Cat facing low sun, San Antonio, La Palma.jpg or File:Cat walk in low sun, San Antonio, La Palma.jpg? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:39, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- Look for Wind of Change in music, and for vacation in places, now with the first of the two cats. The story is about a unique Bach cantata that relates to a current DYK nom. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:53, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
- Love that song (WoC). First photo, looking towards the sun, my favorite (kept staring at it), though second, with only one of four legs in motion is interesting (plus it shows the beautiful blotching). Read up on the cantata and the evening song, too. Thanks for sharing, Gerda. --Rosiestep (talk) 11:53, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from SailorChris1951 (16:50, 3 January 2026)
Hello! I'm absolutely new here. I expect my contributions to be limited and focused. I've made one edit (before I set up an account) in which I added parents to my uncle's page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradford_Lyttle). I am active in genealogy (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lyttle-395), and I anticipate that any activity I will have on Wikipedia will stem from that interest. I'm not clear on how citation standard differ in Wikipedia from what I'm used to. Comments and guidance are welcome! Best, Chris --SailorChris1951 (talk) 16:50, 3 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi SailorChris1951 and welcome to Wikipedia.
- There are several different citation templates that editors can choose from; the list here.
- For information regarding citing sources in general, see here.
- Never use self-published sources, e.g., FamilySearch; more about that here.
- The article you mentioned, Bradford Lyttle, is a living person, so here is the policy and other information regarding biographies of living people.
- Looking closely at the reference which added parents to BL's article, I do not see where it indicates that those people are his parents. Adding information that you know but without including a reliable source to verify it is considered to be "original research", which is prohibited; more about that here. Perhaps there's an interview someplace which states that those people are his parents; I would add that reference and remove the FamilySearch one.
- Editing articles about our relatives (unless they are dead) denotes a perceived conflict of interest, so it's best to avoid doing so, but it you do so, the editor must declare the conflict of interest; more info here.
- Lastly, I left a welcome message on your talkpage with information for new editors which should help you get started.
- Glad that you're here, SailorChris1951, and you're always welcome to ask more questions. I'm still asking them, even after 18 years and >300K edits. --Rosiestep (talk) 12:28, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your response. I am very much aware of the conflict of interest issue, which is why I attempted to limit myself to some very concrete facts. I'm embarrassed that I did not check the link more closely once it was inserted in the biography. I made the mistake of relying on a WikiTree citation building macro. FamilySearch has both user created family trees and document images. What I was attempting to cite is an image of his birth certificate, which is about as authoritative a source as one can ask for. I could cite the certificate directly, but then there would be no link to an online copy. I will see what I can do to fix this and make it conform in style to the other citations. SailorChris1951 (talk) 17:02, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
Help finishing my article?
Can you help to me finish my article or refer to someone who can help? I would like to hire you.
Rdp51 (talk) 19:08, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Rdp51 and welcome to Wikipedia! Mentors don't typically help new editors finish articles. Instead, we answer questions with information that might be hard for a newcomer to find themselves.
- Regarding hiring an editor. I don't edit for pay — ever. If anyone takes you up on the offer, you and they should be aware of the following policies regarding paid-contribution disclosure and conflict of interest.
- Regarding the page you started: Draft:Ralph D. Pittle... Based on your username (Rdp51), I'll make the assumption that you are Ralph D. Pittle. If that is the case, here are some policies you need to abide by: conflict of interest and autobiography. Whether you are or aren't Mr. Pittle, you should be aware of the following: biographies of living people policy, notability policy and the requirement to include reliable sources that are verifiable.
- I wish you well as you start your Wikipedia journey. To help you along, I left a welcome message on your talkpage with important information for new editors. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:53, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
Question from WARrixie24 (06:41, 5 January 2026)
Hey happy for you could you please help me with mi Google account --WARrixie24 (talk) 06:41, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi WARrixie24 and welcome to Wikipedia. I am available to answer questions related to Wikipedia, but not those related to Google. That said, I wish you well as you start your Wikipedia journey, and to help you along, I left a welcome message on your talkpage with important information for new editors. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:58, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
Question from Gealwiki (19:07, 5 January 2026)
Hello Mentor Hope you're fine. Happy new year. Wish you all the best this year. I wrote my first article on wiki but it has been tagged Speedy deletion. Can I have your help please ? --Gealwiki (talk) 19:07, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Gealwiki and welcome to Wikipedia. I see that the page you started, Draft:Kezias Kazuba Mwale was speedily deleted and the reason is described here. It can be quite disappointing to a new editor to draft an article and have this be the outcome, but there are plenty of resources to explain things so that when you are ready to write another one, you'll be better prepared. To that end, I left a welcome message on your talkpage with important information for new editors. --Rosiestep (talk) 22:06, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
Question from Banimani (19:45, 5 January 2026)

I am a new contributor Heald Green 10:08, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
You have been nominated as my mentor. I note that on my personal page, my username is in the standard blue colour, but on the pages of the contributors to whom I have contacted, my username in shown in a red colour. Why is this?
Heald Green (talk) 10:08, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Heald Green and welcome to Wikipedia. A redlink denotes a page that doesn't exist. As you haven't written anything on your userpage, it's still red; more about userpages here. More about redlinks, bluelinks, and other link colors here. I've also left a welcome message on your talkpage with additional information for new editors. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:01, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
Some information about my new Wikipedia membership
Thank you for your recent notification. My main interest lies in closed railway stations in England, Scotland and Wales but also to a lesser extent in the settlements of those three countries.
Heald Green (talk) 17:15, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- Happy to hear it, Heald Green. I love reading those types of articles (closed railway stations in GB). If you haven't done so already, check out: Category:Former railway stations in Great Britain. If you review the articles in this category, you can use them as teaching guides on how to structure the articles you wish to write, what kinds of sources to seek, etc. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:58, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
Question from Def W34K3ST (10:47, 7 January 2026)
Hello, how do I edit an 'edit summary'. I recently made an alteration to a page and (in trying to move to the next line) I accidentally pressed ctrl + Enter. --Def W34K3ST (talk) 10:47, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Def W34K3ST and welcome to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, 'edit summaries' cannot be edited. I've left a welcome message on your talkpage with other helpful information for new editors. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:49, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
Question from Def W34K3ST on Dinho (singer) (23:08, 7 January 2026)
Hey again. I'm currently editing this page and I think there's a formatting error. In the first part (the introduction) it is stated where the singer was born and when they started singing. This is then ( almost verbatim) repeated in the 'Early Life' section. Am I correct if I remove this info in the opening and leave it to the second portion? --Def W34K3ST (talk) 23:08, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi again, Def W34K3ST. Short answer: leave in both sections. Reason: The lead (introduction) section of a Wikipedia article is meant to summarize the rest of the contents. More info about the lead section here. --Rosiestep (talk) 08:36, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
Question from Maryterw (06:12, 8 January 2026)
Hi Rosiestep, I'm new to the platform but I'm a long-time user of Wikipedia and want to do anything I can to help support the organization! I'm a little nervous publishing edits I've made so I was hoping to reach out for some advice. I don't want to do something wrong and get blocked or banned; I use Wikipedia way to much to be able to handle that. Thank you for your time! --Maryterw (talk) 06:12, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Maryterw and welcome to Wikipedia. Don't worry about "getting something wrong"; everyone is new around here when they get started and other editors will assume good faith regarding your edits as you learn the ropes. To that end, I left a welcome message on your talkpage with some helpful information for new editors. --Rosiestep (talk) 08:41, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from ClassicPrinceWiki (10:07, 8 January 2026)
Hello mentor, thanks having you, so what's my first step towards starting my editing journey --ClassicPrinceWiki (talk) 10:07, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi ClassicPrinceWiki and welcome to Wikipedia. I left a welcome message on your talkpage with a lot of information for new editors. So, the first step of your editing journey is to review the links, and put some of what you learn into practice by making small edits until you feel comfortable making larger ones, and eventually, creating articles. Have fun! --Rosiestep (talk) 10:11, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

How do I create a post --Tshepomathebula (talk) 21:00, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Tshepomathebula and welcome to Wikipedia. I left a message on your talkpage with a bunch of links that explain things. These should help you get started posting (we call it 'editing') Wikipedia. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:04, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
Question from BookMuffin (05:23, 17 January 2026)
Hello! Someone reverted a contribution, saying it needs secondary sourcing. Does that mean it needs an additional -- second -- source, or a "secondary source" (as opposed to a primary source)? I thought that would be the kind of thing someone would just note "additional sources needed" or something rather than deleting the whole thing. Thank you! --BookMuffin (talk) 05:23, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi BookMuffin and welcome to Wikipedia. I think you're talking about this edit on the Tchaikovsky article. This article is a Featured Article (FA), meaning that it has gone through a rigorous review process in compliance with FA criteria. Edits made after the article has reached FA status have not gone through the rigorous review, ergo, instead of editing the article, it's prudent to make a suggestion on the article's talkpage. Beyond this, if you seek further clarification about the edit summary, I recommend asking the reverting editor. In the meantime, I left a welcome message on your talkpage which has helpful information and links for new editors. --Rosiestep (talk) 12:37, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
Good to see you mentioned in the FT article on Wikipedia's anniversary
I was interested to see you mentioned in Darren Loucaides' feature article on Wikipedia published in FT Weekend today 17 January. There is a paywalled version here, but from the print version, I can send you (and page viewers) the article's last paragraph which reads:
- At one point during WikiCom, long-time Wikipedian Rosie Stephenson-Goodknight told me that someone texted her after the incident with the gunman to say: "We're just trying to write an encyclopedia!" She replied: "Amen." The texter was Jimmy Wales.
Pity the lengthy article is not freely accessible. It makes interesting reading. A snippet is included in Wikipedia:Press coverage 2026. Maybe you could persuade them to allow free access.--Ipigott (talk) 13:12, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- Ipigott, thanks for sharing, especially as I don't have access to the paywalled version. Would be nice to read the whole article if it were available. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:19, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- OK Rosie. Just for you, here's an accessible version of the article. Enjoy!--Ipigott (talk) 14:19, 17 January 2026 (U
- Very grateful. Thank you, Ipigott. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:43, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- All part of the service! I've also provided access on the Wikipedia Press Coverage listing. I think the article deserves wider attention.--Ipigott (talk) 15:49, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- Very grateful. Thank you, Ipigott. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:43, 17 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from HospitalityEditor (23:08, 17 January 2026)
Hi Rosiestep,
I’m a new editor and recently attempted to create a draft article that was speedily deleted as promotional. I also received a temporary IP block, which I understand can happen with new accounts.
I’ve submitted an undeletion request and am now waiting. When editing access is restored, I want to proceed correctly and avoid repeating mistakes.
If you have any general guidance on how to approach rewriting a draft neutrally and in line with conflict-of-interest and notability guidelines, I’d really appreciate it.
Thank you for your time. --HospitalityEditor (talk) 23:08, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi HospitalityEditor and welcome to Wikipedia. Sorry to hear about your draft article being speedily deleted as promotional. If you aren't aware of this, it would be helpful for you to do read it now as it explains promotional content. As for general guidance, I'd have pasted this on your talkpage but someone beat me to it. It has a lot of helpful information for new editors, so follow the links. Last but not least, I recommend that before creating another new draft, edit some existing articles in order to get comfortable with editing. --Rosiestep (talk) 23:22, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
Privacy on wp
Hi again Rosie, I want to know about my privacy on wikipedia. Also is there any "direct message" option available where we can talk with wikipedians without having it posted on any public talk page etc? Further I also want to know whether I can change my username or not. Iamvbv (talk) 21:57, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi again Iamvbv.
- Regarding privacy: general info here, the WMF's Privacy Policy (including legal considerations) is here, privacy of affiliation info is here, and sockpuppetry privacy info is here.
- Nope, there is no "direct message" feature on wiki. If you post on a talkpage, it's publicly viewable.
- Changing your username info is here. --Rosiestep (talk) 22:23, 18 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from PixelCraze (14:16, 20 January 2026)
- Note: PixelCraze's mentor GrayStorm is away.
Hai Rosiestep recently I removed a link from a article which is from an unreliable source know as filmyfocus.According to wikipedia it is considered as an unreliable source. So my question is am I doing the write thing here. --PixelCraze (talk) 14:16, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi PixelCraze. I searched through your contribution history and found the article in question, Sathish Krishnan, and the edit you are referring to—deletion of the filmyfocus.com citation.
- In order to answer your question (are you doing the right thing), I need to verify your claim that
... According to wikipedia it is considered as an unreliable source ...
; please provide a link. - In the meantime:
- I checked the Perennial Sources List and filmyfocus.com isn't listed there.
- I gave a cursory inspection of the filmyfocus.com website to see if it's a user generated content website, but looking at the website's disclaimer, I couldn't be certain.
- I checked to see if other articles contain filmyfocus.com and/or Filmy Focus and found many that do; see articles with filmyfocus references here and Filmy Focus references here. (Do you think all of these should be deleted or just the one that you found on Sathish Krishnan's article)? --Rosiestep (talk) 15:59, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- I think all of these references from filmyfocus should be deleted I guess. PixelCraze (talk) 18:18, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- (arriving via interactions with PixelCraze and their edits...) Filmy is identified at Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force as "Generally unreliable". Based on my experience with this sort of topic-area on Wikipedia, I could see it being reasonable for non-controversial details but not for controversial or BLP details. In those cases, a better source should be used (and if a better source isn't available, that tells us something both about the info and Filmy as a source). DMacks (talk) 15:53, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- @PixelCraze and DMacks, I suggest you take this conversation to Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force as I am not familiar with the topic (Indian cinema) or the website. Good luck! --Rosiestep (talk) 19:09, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- I have no horse in this race, just responding to your concern about verifying the editor's claim. They can follow up in whatever way they see fit. DMacks (talk) 19:35, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- I was just here clarify my doubts that's all nothing else to discuss. PixelCraze (talk) 06:17, 25 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from Jackthemodernist (20:43, 20 January 2026)
Hello Rosie - My page for Millennium Film Journal was relegated to draft space and I'm confused about why - thanks! --Jackthemodernist (talk) 20:43, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Jackthemodernist and welcome to Wikipedia. I see the article you started writing here. It's missing cited sources. To establish notability on Wikipedia, articles are required to have multiple reliable, secondary sources so that the reader can verify what's on the page.

- Good to see that once again you've been so active on this. No doubt you are spending some of your time on trying to reduce the number of women's biographies which has now fallen to around 700 from over 1,500 in December. It would be good if we could bring it down to less than 200 and keep it there even when there no special exercise. It's really frustrating for recently registered Wikipedians interested in covering women to find that their articles have not been reviewed for several weeks. I'm trying to help out a bit with this myself.--Ipigott (talk) 11:11, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks Ian, and I'm happy to hear that you're also chipping away at some of the backlog. For me, it's about honoring something my sons started saying a few years ago: "Mom, you can't write all the articles; you have to inspire others." So, since terming off the WMF Board in Dec 2024, I've been (a) trying to make WP:NPP a weekly habit, and, (b) mentoring newbies here on my talkpage. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:08, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- I distinctly remember what your son told you way back. It's also been an inspiration to me, Now that I'm no longer able to find time to concentrate on new articles myself, I try to encourage new contributors, especially those interested in improving our coverage of women. In this connection, if you have time I think it would be interesting to see your "Totals at a glance" for the whole of 2025. The most recent entry is up to July. But maybe this is because Humaniki is no longer functioning?--Ipigott (talk) 16:00, 22 January 2026 (UTC)

Dębówek
You marked Dębówek as a stub. There is little to no history on the settlement, so there is nothing more to add. I don't really know what to do from there, but I hope you can remove the stub template. Fortek67 (talk) 19:05, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Fortek67 and thanks for the articles you've been creating, including Dębówek. I marked it as a stub because ORES classifies it as "Stub class", and rates it 1.15. Because prose size (text only) is 468 B (68 words) of "readable prose size". Because it has <250 words and <1,500 characters in the main text. While
"(t)here is little to no history on the settlement..."
today, in the years to come, this might change. That said, you're welcome to remove the Stub template if you disagree with the assessment. --Rosiestep (talk) 23:00, 26 January 2026 (UTC)- Thank you, I think it's currently appropriate to keep that Stub template until pictures are added which I will do so in the coming months unless someone else does before me. Question, Węgliniec railway station
Back in September I rewrote and expanded Węgliniec railway station from it being a stub. Same with Czerwona Woda, Lower Silesian Voivodeship. They are still assessed as stub-class. Who can review these pages and give them a content assessment? Unless you can do so since I thought the changes would have been noticed by a reviewer already. Fortek67 (talk) 19:06, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

"Who can review these pages and give them a content assessment?"
, the answer is, anyone... including you. :) --Rosiestep (talk) 00:44, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from Granchini on User:Granchini (12:10, 2 February 2026)
Hi Rosiestep,
I hope you’re doing well. I’ve been working on creating a Wikipedia draft for Jayd Poels, a young Belgian field hockey player. I’ve prepared a neutral, verifiable draft with references from HLN, Le Soir, EuroHockey, and official league sites, and I’ve included an infobox with his club and international career.
Since this is my first draft submission, I would really appreciate your guidance in reviewing it and making sure it meets Wikipedia’s standards before I submit it for review.
Here’s the draft page I’ve prepared: Draft:Jayd Poels
Thank you so much for your time and support!
Best regards, Granchini
--Granchini (talk) 12:10, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Granchini and welcome to Wikipedia.
- I moved the information you pasted on my talkpage to the draft space you started on January 22, 2026: Draft:Jayd Poels. In the future, don't paste an article (or part of an article) on someone's talkpage. Keep edits regarding the subject on the subject's page. The way to notify someone that you'd like them to look at an article (or draft article), is to wikilink it, such as this: Draft:Jayd Poels. You'll be able to tell if you didn't wikilink it correctly if the link is redlinked such as this, where I'm introducing a typo: Drdft:::::Jayd Poels.
- Regarding initial guidance about the draft: the current version needs significant improvement to establish the subject's notability. Specifically, familiarize yourself with these policies: Notability (sports), biographies of living people, reliable sources, and verification. The current version also needs to be put in the correct format for an encyclopedic article. There are 161 examples of that here: Category:Belgian male field hockey players.
- I noticed that you declared a conflict of interest with the subject (Jayd Poels), ergo, if you haven't already, you should familiarize yourself (and comply) with this conflict of interest policy.
- Regarding further comments about the Jayd Poels draft: the volunteer editors at Articles for Creation (AfC) will provide that once you submit it for review. I don't participate in the AfC discussions, so it won't be me.
- In the meantime, I left a welcome message on your talkpage with additional helpful information for new editors. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:57, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- I noticed you're also working on the Jayd Poels draft on your userpage, in addition to Draft:Jayd Poels. Your userpage isn't meant for content writing, so I recommend that you move the info either to Draft:Jayd Poels or User:Granchini/Jayd Poels.
- Here are instructions for how to move a page. Hope this is helpful. --Rosiestep (talk) 23:13, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from EmiYfmania (11:37, 5 February 2026)
What's Wikipedia bio --EmiYfmania (talk) 11:37, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Here is a link to the "wikiproject" for editors who are interested in working on biographies, and you're welcome to join it. The notability guideline for biographies is here. Still on vacation, so missed some interesting stories, such as about Jubilant Sykes. Richie Beirach, jazz pianist, is still on as I write this. Which of his music samples would you have chosen? - I met five shy cats in three places yesterday-;) -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:47, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
- Oh, that's a tough one to answer. I listened to most of these (not all the way through for each one, but enough to get a sense of who Richie was). Didn't care much for the piano and duet solos. Did enjoy the quartets and ensemble pieces. Thanks for sharing; liked learning about him. Hope you're having a great vacation, G. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:43, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, great vacation! Back home. Pics uploaded to 23 Jan. - Tamás Vásáry today, who began his career with a Mozart concerto at age 8. - Tough to make a choice. The piece that I chose in the story isn't on youtube (but on facebook), and I liked all I checked out, so went by the choice of the FAZ obit. We have now the NYT but I can't see it. If you do feel free to add. (Some quotes were already added by others but I wasn't too impressed.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:37, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

- I made Rilling my story today, - I listened to one of his talk concerts in Frankfurt, not sure if Sendesaal, nor which music, I think it wasn't Bach. Long ago. If you turn to the video, I picked my response to arbitration (2013): "Ich steh hier und singe" ([Rage and jump,] I stand here and sing). No cantatas during Lent, so I wanted something different ;) - I like that you hear the altos well, in that five-part texture. The movement with the quote begins at 51:22, the first (repeated) word is Trotz (defiance). - I finally uploaded another cat, on a wall (that you don't see, just by me being eye to eye with the cat while standing). I took two more of the same, one at the table looking down on face and tail, the other jumping from the wall, but strangely without legs. Let me know if you want those also. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:44, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

They played as the 2019 DYK said, on an upright piano, - listen, the last piece was the same. - More pics uploaded, enjoy. Butterfly. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:10, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

- That's great! - Today's main page features four biographies I helped to bring there, two women and two men, three opera singers (one pictured) and an actor, - a record for me, I believe ;) - Also uploaded pics, and the 28 Jan have animals dead and alive, the one entitled "crabs" has many eyes ready to watch this page (sadly unqualified as no cat's), - eyes that I didn't see when I took the pic. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:29, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Fortune26a (11:19, 19 February 2026)
Hi there! I signed up for Wikipeda to know what it's all about and getting to contribute to sources that im interested in. I've already started doing the small recommended tasks to get started. But is there a way to find things I can edit topics more closely related to what I am interested in (I think the recs are very general tbh) :)
Just wondering and appreciate any help.
P.s. How long have you been on Wikip? :) --Fortune26a (talk) 11:19, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Fortune26a and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm happy to learn that you want to contribute. We need you!
- Keep at the small recommended tasks over the next few weeks — but know that it isn't required. It's meant to help you learn how to edit. While doing those small tasks, tart noticing other things on the page that needs fixing, e.g., a missing comma, a typo.
- When you feel ready to edit an article that actually interests you, go for it! You can start today.
- How to find them? Let's pretend that you're Swiss, and you are interested in working on Swiss articles, but you don't know which ones need a small fix. Find the broadest category: Category:Switzerland. Click on a subcategory: Category:Swiss people. Click on a sub-subcategory: Category:Swiss people stubs. If you click on each person's name, you'll see that some have templates at the top indicating that something needs fixing or improvement, e.g. Ernest Francillon, Lucien Gautier, Fritz Gegauf, Raphaël Martinetti, Karl Meier.
- Another way to find things to fix or improve is to look for all articles needing one thing in particular. I started editing Wikipedia in June 2007, so here's the category for articles that have been tagged since June 2007 that would benefit from someone's attention: Category:Clean-up categories from June 2007.
- All of this is to say that clicking through Wikipedia's categories is the key to finding stuff. Once you're ready to create a new article. Find the category that it would fit in, open a dozen the articles in that category (separate tab for each one), and see how the articles look. What headers are common? What types of references are common? What does the first sentence commonly look like? The first article I created was Book League of America, a defunct American book publisher. Before I created it, I found this category, Category:Defunct book publishing companies of the United States and looked at more than a dozen of the articles in that category, which gave me a lot of info, e.g., I needed to find a lot of references and they had to be reliable sources, etc.
- Hope this was helpful. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:32, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Leon C Mitchell (00:40, 21 February 2026)
Hi Rosie I'm new here and would like to request your guidance. I want to ensure I contribute to Wikipedia correctly. I have a Conflict of Interest (COI). I would like to create a biography about my work for consideration, which now includes recent peer-reviewed research in the British Psychological Society(BPS) journal and several commercially successful projects.
I am aware a version of a page was deleted over 10 years ago, and I want to make sure this new version meets all notability and neutrality standards now my work has evolved. I plan to use the 'Articles for Creation' (AfC) process. Could you advise me on the best first step to avoid any issues with this and so I follow and respect all guidelines. Thank you. Leon C Mitchell (talk) 00:40, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Leon C Mitchell and welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not try to create an article for yourself. Read these instructional pages to understand why: WP:BIO, WP:BLP, and WP:AUTOBIO. If you are notable enough to have a Wikipedia page, then it falls on other editors to create it (specifically, people who do not have a conflict of interest, e.g., family members, etc.).
- I'm an Administrator on English Wikipedia, so I have access to deleted pages. I searched for a deleted version of Leon Mitchell, Leon C Mitchell, and Leon C. Mitchell but none exists under these variations. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:12, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from 2 Salukis (02:39, 23 February 2026)
- Note: 2 Salukis's mentor Clovermoss is away.
Thank you for mentoring, and stepping in for my primary mentor! I suspect there might be an Edit War about to happen on Democratic backsliding in the United States. Without warning, another editor removed content that was well cited, claiming it was original research. It's not.
I've started a new Talk entry, but want to better understand the arbitration process should it come to that. How do I make sure the entry remains if the dispute continues? Thanks! --2 Salukis (talk) 02:39, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi 2 Salukis. Here's info regarding edit warring. Its "See also" section provides additional avenues of engagement should a dispute continue. --Rosiestep (talk) 10:27, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you. The dispute continues, with additional Users.
- IMO (and that of some others on the Talk page) Democratic backsliding in the United States fails in the Neutral point of view requirement. There seems to be a group of Users intent on keeping it so. Since their deletions of my edits focus on No original research and Reliable sources, I'll proceed to those noticeboards.
- Just an FYI, the only sources I've used, yet they claim are not reliable: Time (magazine), NPR, SCOTUS, Hillary Clinton, and CREW. 2 Salukis (talk) 18:15, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi again, 2 Salukis. Just FYI, in case other mentors handle things differently, the mentorship that I provide to new editors includes information, resources, and "how to". In this regard, as an addendum to yesterday's answer, yes, Noticeboards can be other avenues for seeking conflict resolution. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:29, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Pinging problems?
Hi Rosie. Thought I ought to let you know that I looked through the events for March yesterday and everything seems to be OK. I suggested a tip whivh needs approval. On the main WiR talk page I've suggested deleting the Showcase icon as the page is no longer being updated. Pertinent info can in any case be found on Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Recognized content.--Ipigott (talk) 09:02, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for writing to me here, Ipigott as I did not get the ping on the Ideas page. I'll MassMessge now. As for deleting the Showcase icon, it's fine with me if there aren't objections on the WiR talkpage. --Rosiestep (talk) 09:20, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from Ghostedd1 (07:33, 26 February 2026)
How do i publish an article to wikipedia? --Ghostedd1 (talk) 07:33, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Ghostedd1 and welcome to Wikipedia.
- Start here: Help:Your first article.
- These guidelines on the notability of music-related topics will also answer some of your questions.

Question from 404.seikoko (23:03, 27 February 2026)
hello! i was wondering about the article-making process. I'm looking to create two articles, one for the musician Kets4eki and one for the music collective FabFantasy. Do you have any advice? --404.seikoko (talk) 23:03, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, 404.seikoko and welcome to Wikipedia.
- Start here: Help:Your first article.
- Make sure that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article, and include reliable, secondary sources independent of the subject that can be verified.
- Familiarize yourself with and follow these guidelines regarding the notability of music-related topics and this one regarding biographies of living people. Also, familiarize yourself with referencing for beginners and citing sources.
- In the meantime, I left a message on your talkpage with tutorial links and basic editing tips.
- Happy editing! --Rosiestep (talk) 01:08, 28 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Diminished Triad (04:03, 28 February 2026)
Hello, are there any tips to find grammatical errors? Thank you. --Diminished Triad (talk) 04:03, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Diminished Triad and welcome to Wikipedia. When an editor spots an article that has grammatical errors, they can add this template to it: {{Copy edit}}. All the articles that have this template are sorted in this category: Category:Wikipedia articles needing copy edit. Note, as copyediting is broader than just grammar, e.g., typos, punctuation, etc., not all the articles here will have grammatical errors, but it's a good start.
- Another option (something I did in my early editing days ... I've been editing since 2007) is to do a google search for a particular type of error. I am a proponent of fixing punctuation so I ran google searches for: wiki +
"in 1492 he"
, and then I clicked on each article in that long list and added a comma so that it read"in 1492, he"
. Then I ran a search for wiki +"in 1493 he"
, and so forth. Perhaps this would work for you, too. - In the meantime, I left a message on your talkpage with tutorial links and basic editing tips. Happy editing! --Rosiestep (talk) 09:52, 28 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Gustavs586 (12:18, 2 March 2026)
Hello! I was just wondering about how to properly add references/citations to websites. So far, the extent of my editing is just unorphaning articles, so I'd like to make bigger contributions to the website. --Gustavs586 (talk) 12:18, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Gustavs586 and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm happy to see that you've been de-orphaniing articles; that's a very useful action. Regarding how to add a reference, start here. When you're through with that, check out the many citation templates (cite web, cite news, cite book, cite journal, etc.) available here. By way of example, I created this article yesterday and it uses at least three different citation templates. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:06, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

Aribert Reimann's 90th birthday, with a hook mentioning his 80ths, the opera played by Oper Frankfurt after he died, see video, and I was there. - Ruta de los Volcanes is among the latest places. - I see you are away, so am I, on an island full of cats, - on one pic I stopped counting at 10. - I like one of two cats, but patience please, the Ruta was on 3 Feb, not 3 Mar, as those two. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:28, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
- I hope you are staying safe during your travels. (P.S. Sounds like a lot of cats!) Will look at your photos, etc. when I return home from AWP. --Rosiestep (talk) 10:08, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for thinking of safety, - a conference was cancelled, flights were cancelled, UK territory travelled the first day was then closed ... - now at the western end, - we'll see and hope. Great hike today, and three cats waiting for leftover super-fresh fish, but no good pic. - Believe it or not: I finally managed to upload pics of 5 Feb. I called the main pic File:Los Lomadas, three cats above Los Sauces.jpg. If you look at the last image of that day, the place where the cats were could be one of the small houses on the right, looking down to Los Sauces and further down to the sea. I wasn't too inventive with the other pic names: File:Los Lomadas, two of three cats.jpg, File:Los Lomadas, one of three cats.jpg, File:Los Lomadas, other one of three cats.jpg. The looks of the latter two told me they really had enough of me taking pics ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:43, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Back home, and I finally uploaded a few pics from the first evening there, with a black cat, and a look at Frankfurt from high above (flight from Cologne). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:18, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Uploaded another cat. - Of the four topics I helped to bring to the main page, I'm most proud of a woman's work, so made it my story. As it happens, last year's story OTD was about the woman. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:37, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

- Four topics on today's main page; I congratulate you.
- I hope you enjoy the woman's work! DYK rejected the topic as not interesting, - it's not without triumph OTD, I must say. The cat is also on the previous pic, I believe. That little white something around the chapel may not even be a wall, but sometimes I miss words. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:23, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- on Bach's birthday, a story about my joy - places now have three more cats, on two pics, and I uploaded the one with many cats mentioned at the beginning of this thread - 10+? - but all very small. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:12, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for sharing your personal story regarding that motet; I can see why it is special to you. I had a lovely day yesterday at a Women's History Month event at the SF public library. Saw some Wikipedians I hadn't seen in a while, and created an article to support the day's theme. Today, I returned to working on an entry for Wikipedia:26 for '26. - Sounds like a lot and interesting! - I uploaded another cat. How do you like the two in the mosque garden? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:49, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
- more Bach in story and music on Palm Sunday, imagine: four Easter cantatas in today's concert, performers pictured! ... and more places in Cyprus, - there were two cats in front of Kykkos and on on a chair at hotel breakfast, but not good enough --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:35, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
- I managed to upload the last Cyprus pics, 2 more cats, one included, the other one is File:Nea Paphos, Cyprus, cat lying on side on parking lot.jpg; that cat lay there looking to the other side, I said "turn to me" (in German) and cat stretched a bit more than already and turned just the head ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:06, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

- Lovely, thank you. I wrote - a first - about a transgender woman, on this day of visibility. Is she a woman in the WiR sense? Can you please check the article? How to say that she, I mean he, was married to a woman, and they had a child, which a ref has? Ignore the red links, I'll work on those. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:24, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Diminished Triad (23:07, 5 March 2026)
Hey there! I am here to ask a question again. How do you or other wikipedians find sources? I am just curious --Diminished Triad (talk) 23:07, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Diminished Triad. Start here. Beyond that, it depends on the type of article, but commonly, I use Google. Also, as I'm a Visiting Scholar at Northeastern University, I have access to its library holdings, so I run searches there. Also, Internet Archive and Newspapers.com. As for "tips & tricks", commonly, I look at 10-20 articles within the same subcategory on Wikipedia as the article that I want to create and I check out the sources of those 10-20 articles, as they'll give me info on where to find sources for the article I want to write, which will be the 11th article within the same subcategory. --Rosiestep (talk) 10:19, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from Igtal2dmafy (00:08, 6 March 2026)
I would like to edit the simple english wiki as well. I got into trouble under another account (same email) two months ago when I tried to do this, so understand if it may take a while (I got confused and paranoid, whoops) But generally, how can I get recommendations for the simple english wiki? do I need to set up another username? --Igtal2dmafy (talk) 00:08, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Igtal2dmafy and welcome to Wikipedia. Each person has one account (one username), which is used on all wikis (e.g., to edit English Wikipedia, Spanish Wikipedia, Simple Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, etc.); more info about that here. If someone tries to skirt around that by establishing multiple, undisclosed accounts, it's referred to as sockpuppetry and can lead to a block. Some people do have multiple disclosed accounts, e.g., while I served on the Wikimedia Board of Trustees, I had a second account (m:User:RStephenson (WMF)) for edits I made in that capacity. P.S. I don't know what this refers to,
"I got into trouble under another account"
, but we're creating an encyclopedia here, so best not to edit when you feel"confused and paranoid"
. --Rosiestep (talk) 10:31, 6 March 2026 (UTC)- Yeah, I don't need to get into the "confused and paranoid" details but safe to say we're past that now. Thank you for your quick reply! Igtal2dmafy (talk) 19:17, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Effie Mona Mack (Nevada Women’s History Project).png

Thanks for uploading File:Effie Mona Mack (Nevada Women’s History Project).png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Did you find this version somewhere else? --Rosiestep (talk) 12:58, 11 March 2026 (UTC)- I manually resized the original image to just under 100,000 pixels (0.1 MP), the maximum resolution recommended by the non-free content criteria, specifically 3b and the section "Image resolution." I tried to use this user script to resize the image to 0.1 MP, but I couldn't reupload the file because when I tried to do so, due to the curly mark which this page does not allow. tjd (he) T/C 19:32, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from StickyMan1982 (23:29, 10 March 2026)
Hello, I just created a draft page for a video game in my sandbox, I want to make this my first article, and I was wondering if I could get someone more experienced to look at it and give me feedback? --StickyMan1982 (talk) 23:29, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi StickyMan1982. You've done a nice job creating Jumanji: Wild Adventures here. I think it is quite ready for review and feedback. To do so, follow these instructions: Wikipedia:Articles for creation#Submitting for review. As I don't participate in the WP:AfC process, nor have any experience reviewing video games, it won't be me who does the review, but there are lots of volunteers who work in that area, so just watch for their comment(s). Good luck! --Rosiestep (talk) 13:06, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from LeviathanShinobi (05:49, 11 March 2026)
Hello Rosie, I had a doubt lingering in my mind. If i am a student at a particular university, does that mean that i cannot edit the respective universitites WIki pages or the WIki pages of any of its Professors or its Vice-Chancellor/Dean, or the group of Universities where it belongs because of Conflict of Interest (COI)? --LeviathanShinobi (talk) 05:49, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi LeviathanShinobi and welcome to Wikipedia. Great question. The answer is: it is not a COI and it is okay for you to edit the university's wiki page, also the pages of its professors, vice-chancellor, and dean, and the group of universities to which it belongs. Go for it! If you wish to create a new article about a professor, vice-chancellor, or dean, you'll want to familiarize yourself with the academics notability guidelines. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:15, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Croshbash (01:16, 13 March 2026)
Hey! I wanted to ask some questions about what would be acceptable in editing pages that have wording that makes it harder for the reader to understand, especially when it comes to more niche or complex topics.
As an example I find this pages writing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llanquihue_glaciation) to be more than abysmal in writing. Here is an excerpt from a really difficult to understand part that I am not used to seeing on Wikipedia, and part of the reason I created this account.
"Maximum glaciers advances were not synchronous across the whole latitudinal gradient as they were triggered by north and southward shifts in the moisture-bringing Westerlies and its storm tracks."
Would simplifying these statements be productive or against wiki culture? How would you go about making simplifying edits? I will stick to smaller edits and don't want to rewrite this niche page but want guidance in how I can make these pages easier to read without ruining others works. Thanks! CroshBash --Croshbash (talk) 01:16, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Croshbash and welcome to Wikipedia. Great question!
- Just like every editor has a unique talkpage (this one is mine), every article does, too, so addressing the issue on the talkpage, e.g., here, is the best option for heavily-edited or contentious articles/subjects. Ditto for "Good articles" and "Featured articles" as they have gone through review processes.
- Another option is to check the editing history, and then connect with the editor who created the article and/or the main editor (if that's someone else). In this case, User:Sietecolores and User:Mamayuco are both blocked indef, so that's a dead end.
- Ergo, IMO, go for it! Improving the wording of Llanquihue glaciation (and other articles) would be welcome. Twenty-five editors have edited it already; you would be #26. When you do edit it, do so incrementally, e.g., 1 sentence or 1 paragraph at a time. This way, if someone wants to contest an edit of yours, they would point out which edit (e.g., like this), and it wouldn't be an entire rewrite, it would be 1 sentence, or 1 paragraph. If you introduce new material, do so in a separate edit and remember to add an inline citation for a new fact.
- P.S. In my early editing days, I spent countless hours adding commas to articles that lacked them. You learn a lot about editing (you start noticing other things) by making small edits (1 comma, 1 sentence, etc.) so be bold, be brave, and go for it. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:12, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from Pierlo19 (11:31, 13 March 2026)
Dear Rosie,
I would like to edit the Joint undertakings of the EU on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Agencies_of_the_European_Union. I noticed that it is very outdated (eg: ECSEL was known as KDT for a few years, and now as CHIPS). For the same reason (name change of the JUs), I would also like to edit the page https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Clean_Sky. This one would even need a new title for the page. In brief, I am wondering how I should approach such large edits. Should I open a talk on the pages I am planning on editing to get the opinion of other contributors? Can titles even be edited?
Best regards, --Pierlo19 (talk) 11:31, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Pierlo19 and welcome to Wikipedia. Great question!

Ditto for "Good articles" and "Featured articles" as they have gone through review processes.
- When leaving comments/recommendations on the article's talkpage, include pinging the article creator and/or main editor (if that's someone else) as they may not have watchlisted the article. To figure out who the article creator and main editors are, check the page history, e.g., like this one.
- If your edit is relatively minor (fix a typo, add a comma, add a category, etc.), just go for it.
- If you edit adds new information, do it incrementaly, and add an inline citation for every new fact.
- Regarding title changes. Yes, titles can be edited by moving the page from one title to another. (Mechanically, it's quite simple.) First, though, start a discussion on the talkpage and wait for at least 7 days. If there's consensus to make the change and you have only a relatively small number of edits (e.g., less than 500) over a relatively short period of time (e.g., less than 6 months as a Wikipedian), and no one who participated on the talkpage wants to do it, ping me again and I'll be happy to help. (I'm an admin with >322K edits.) --Rosiestep (talk) 13:50, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from Haobinmpregisreal (08:49, 14 March 2026)
Hey how do I make a wikipage for someone? I want to make one for Ricky from Zb1 since he doesn't have one. --Haobinmpregisreal (talk) 08:49, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Haobinmpregisreal and welcome to Wikipedia. (a) Make sure that the subject meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. (b) Collect your reliable sources in a bunch of open tabs, and then read up about how to cite the sources. (c) Use existing similar articles as your guide for layout, e.g., Kim Ji-woong, Zhang Hao (singer), and Sung Han-bin. Then (d) read this and (e) click the blue button that says
Click here to start a new article
. - In the meantime, I left a message on your talkpage with information for new editors, which should help you get started. --Rosiestep (talk) 10:40, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi mentor! Hope you can help to add this Draft:MetaDAO
How can i get this draft approved?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:MetaDAO SrMessi (talk) 00:00, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi SrMessi and welcome to Wikipedia. To get the draft of MetaDAO approved, you and/or other editors must deal successfully with the issues identified by the reviewers: (a) significant coverage of the topic in (b) independent, (c) reliable sources. To understand this better, review similar articles that exist in the Category:Decentralized autonomous organizations.
- While the reviewers didn't mention it, I will: be mindful of formatting errors. I fixed them with this edit.
- If you have an affiliation with the subject you're writing about, read up about and disclose your conflict of interest.
- To help you along, I left a message on your talkpage with tutorial links and basic editing tips. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:49, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Than you very much Rosiestep! This is so helpful. Already researching on all the links you provided me and going to make the edit with the draf you edited and disclosing that I'm currently working with the company. SrMessi (talk) 22:04, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- SrMessi, if you're working on the article on your own time because you feel like it, then, just the conflict of interest guideline applies. If, however, you're working on the article because your company wants you to do so, e.g., during working hours, then the paid-contribution disclosure also applies, so familiarize yourself with that one, too, if applicable. --Rosiestep (talk) 23:27, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks Rosiestep. I currently work with MetaDAO and therefore have a financial and professional conflict of interest with this article. I am editing in accordance with WP:COI and WP:PAID. All edits are made on my own time and follow Wikipedia's neutral-point-of-view policy. --SrMessi (talk) 23:54, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Anticostitours (20:07, 17 March 2026)
Hi. I have to admit the entry about Port-Menier in Canafa. It ‘ primary activity is not a fishing town. It is an area where people live of eco-tourism. Because they are UNESCO world Heritage site (known for an abundance of fossils). --Anticostitours (talk) 20:07, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Anticostitours and welcome to Wikipedia. While that may be true, readers must be able to verify that. So you need to add an inline citation to support the information you added to the Port-Menier article with this edit. If you don't add a reliable source, your edit may be reverted.
- FYI: there's a typo in your edit (hare/here).

Question from SimonLKelly (21:37, 19 March 2026)
Hello! I am a web designer and digital marketer. I also own my own business in Australia. What kind of articles can I get started with editing and contributing to? Should I be looking to add value to the article, or just review errors in grammar, etc? --SimonLKelly (talk) 21:37, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi SimonLKelly and welcome to Wikipedia. It's your choice: fix errors or add value or both. My recommendation: start by checking out the links that were left on your talkpage so that you gain a rudimentary understanding of how to edit Wikipedia. Then scroll through Wikipedia's categories and look at articles within them. Maybe you'll see some article that's missing a reference, or missing information, and or has a typo. Just as a sample, here are some categories that might interest you (or not): Category:Australian businesspeople, Category:Web design, Category:Digital marketing; as you can see, they each contain a lot of articles to peruse. Be bold; have fun. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:21, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
- OK great! Thanks, that should be good for me to get started :) SimonLKelly (talk) 03:57, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Tomholland23 (00:26, 24 March 2026)
Hi, Rosie! I need your guidance big time!
The following Wiki page is about me:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Holland_(politician)
I want to broaden my Wiki bio by including other non-political accomplishments in my life. I also want to eventually get rid of the "_(politician) portion of the URL and instead have something that reflects my significant entrepreneurial accomplishments. Is this possible, or am I stuck with Tom_Holland_(politician) forever?
Thank you! --Tomholland23 (talk) 00:26, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Tomholland23 and welcome to Wikipedia. It is very nice to meet you!
- Firstly, sort out the issue with your username before you make any other edits. After that ...
- I am happy to see here that you understand it would be a conflict of interest to edit your own biography. But it's easy for you to provide information that would broaden it. Start here to understand how to approach an "autobiography" and then add information (and reliable sources) here. Be methodical.
- Regarding changing the page name: the career section of the article would need to establish that your entrepreneur career is more notable than your political career. That said, even if the entrepreneur paragraphs overshadowed the political ones, it's possible that some editor(s) might argue against the name change (there'd be a discussion and consensus would dictate the outcome).
- Good luck. And feel free to check back with me at any time. --Rosiestep (talk) 10:50, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from BRAINER Jr on File talk:Alps location map.png (19:55, 25 March 2026)
Hello? --BRAINER Jr (talk) 19:56, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
How will I get my citation?
Point of may I know. BRAINER Jr (talk) 19:59, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi BRAINER Jr and welcome to Wikipedia. I don't understand the question. Can you try rephrasing?
- The link you provided, File talk:Alps location map.png, doesn't lead to anything, so it's unclear what article you're referring to.
- Wikipedia doesn't give you a citation. Instead, editors add citations to Wikipedia articles.
- If you're asking when will you be able to see your edit: the answer is right away. For example, so ofar, you've made two edits, both on my talkpage, and here's the record of them.

, instead of this,Hello I want to leave a name on Wikipedia that will always be remembered how do I start

Question from Dreesehudson (13:46, 26 March 2026)
Hello, I am trying to create a new draft article "2026 Louisville City FC Season" it will follow similar patterns to the other previous years' season articles. I have drafted the beginnings of the file but when I try to publish it I click the button and get no feedback that anything has or has not happened. No error messaging, nothing is obviously missing. Can you help determine if I'm missing a required step? --Dreesehudson (talk) 13:46, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

A kitten for you! Cute grey kitten

Hi Rosie, I notice you're a cat person (like me), so that seemed like a good way to get your attention!
The real reason for contacting you is that I very recently signed up to become a mentor, and I have a few questions about it. As you appear in the mentor list immediately below me, I thought I'd plump for you. Would you mind if I asked you a couple of things? Rodney Baggins .talk. 09:05, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kitten, Rodney Baggins, and of course, ask away. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:34, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you Rosie. I signed up for mentorship about 3 days ago and have already accrued almost 30 mentees! Mostly newbies who aren't doing much yet, but it's a bit alarming. I think some of them are doing a wiki editing module as part of a college writing course, some are specifically wanting to create a new article. Should I introduce myself to any of them or wait for them to contact me? How likely are they to use their "ask your mentor" button? I notice that you've signed up for about twice the average – so how many mentees do you have, and how much time do you devote to helping them? Any advice would be welcome at this stage.
Thanks, Rodney Baggins .talk. 07:57, 29 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi Rodney Baggins. Early on, I would leave templated "Welcome!" messages on all of my mentees' talkpages, if someone else hadn't already done so. But it got tedious for me, so I stopped. Instead, I doubled the number I would take on, but I only take them on if they write to me on my talkpage. Then, this is what I commonly do:
- 1. Before responding to a question that a mentee leaves on my talkpage:
- I check out their contribution history (which might help me understand their question better)
- Leave a Welcome message on their talkpage if someone else hasn't done so already
- 2. Respond promptly (within 24 hours) to questions they leave on my talkpage.
- Include wikilinks to appropriate policy pages, etc.
- If the mentee is talking about an article they started or wanted to start, and if they haven't wikilinked the draft and/or the article, I include those wikilinks so they learn what that looks like.
- Sometimes, I include a link to the category for articles within the scope of what they want to create and encourage them to check out a dozen or so of those to get a feel for what to emulate.
- 3. I don't work on their articles, even if asked to do so; I explain that I answer questions and give recommendations.
- 4. I never over-rule what reviewing editors have already said at AfC. Instead, I reiterate it, and give wikilinks to explanatory pages/policies. (P.S. I don't work at AfC; never have had the desire to do so.)
- 5. If the mentee starts a second section on my talkpage and I haven't archived the first one (I archive my talkpage around the 1st of each month), I shift the newer section as a subsection of the earlier one before responding. I hope it teaches them something about how to handle talkpages.
Hope this is helpful. I welcome any other questions! r--Rosiestep (talk) 16:35, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks Rosie, that's very sound advice. I now have 33 mentees, but I've not yet heard from any of them – I suspect they haven't even noticed I exist! A couple of them look quite promising, so I think I might send them a tentative "welcome, I'm here if you need to ask me anything" message, see what happens!
I don't work on their articles, even if asked to do so
> I would agree with that, but if I see something blatantly wrong then I might do a tweak with an explanation of why and how I did it, as a kind of spot tutorial. - I may want to consult you again at some point... Thanks again. Rodney Baggins .talk. 09:48, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia policy on AI article creation accounts (Input Zoom)
Hi, I would like to know the legality of AI accounts on Wikipedia. I believe that this user, Input Zoom is an AI powered account that mass creates articles. Now, even if they aren't, I have noticed that their contributions (I have been looking into the railway station related ones) are of a low quality, poorly sourced, and not following the MoS. This sounds harsh, and I really hate being that person, but take a look at these articles: Jedlina-Zdrój Borowa station, Wrocław Świebodzki station, Świerki Dolne station - there are much, much, more - they listed all of them in their user page. A lot of the text in the articles does not sound encyclopedic, has little background and history information, which, even if it does, it isn't sourced or is cited with an unreliable source. The only sources that usually are on there are from Polish State Railways, which is just basic information/designation of the stations. And they also do not follow the naming conventions of stations in Poland, I have moved Wrocław Świebodzki to add railway station. Could you please look into this, or just give me advice on what I should do, because this user will keep creating these articles, which they seem to be doing very quickly. Thanks, Fortek67 (talk) 14:36, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Fortek67. A quick note to say thanks for stopping by and flagging this account. I need to do some research and will write again after that. In the meantime:
- "Legality": see this from March 20, 2026: Wikipedia:Writing articles with large language models.
"... the use of LLMs to generate or rewrite article content is prohibited, save for these two exceptions ...
- Their contribution history: here
- Looked at their EN-WP userpage and that's a lot of articles since the account was created 35 days ago. A lot of uploads on Commons.
- I don't know how to verify if it's an AI-powered account, so I'll look into that.
- Looking at the articles. Random one: Berufsverbrecher; I can't tell if the 14 sources are applicable, or random; the article was created in DE-WP in 2005; ten language versions of the article. Another random one: Federal Supplementary Compensation Act for Victims of National Socialist Persecution, includes Wikipedia as a reference; an editor who's created as many articles as Input Zoom has would know you can't use WP as a reference; ergo, suspicious.
- PAGESTALKERS: Help is welcome. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:21, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
