Discussion about WikiProject banner templates

edit

For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:

There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners. Proposed deletion of Coșei

edit
Notice

The article Coșei has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability beyond basic statistics (length, tributary relationship) derivable from the Romanian river cadastre. No sources exist beyond the cadastral database entry, and web searches in both English and Romanian return no independent coverage of this 16 km stream. Per WP:NGEO, named natural features require information beyond statistics and coordinates to be known to exist; this article cannot be developed into an encyclopedic article using known sources, and the content could instead be covered in a sentence at Maja (river).

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.

If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 04:16, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ţ verses Ț

edit

Hey y'all, I'm popping over from WikiProject Anthroponymy to get some clarification on best practices with Romanian-language names. I don't speak any Romanian, so I'm relying on machine translation while using an older source written in Romanian. The book appears to use Ţ (T-cedilla) instead of Ț (T-comma), presumably due to unicode issues of the time. When sourcing information about names from this source, is it better to preserve the T-cedilla as it appears in the text I'm citing, or to update it to the modern/correct T-comma? Also, when working with names specific to Moldova, are the standards any different in a way that would warrant also reaching out to WikiProject Moldova?

Thanks for any help you all can provide! — Ike Lek (talk) 01:26, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The Developing Countries WikiContest Gold Belt Buckle
The Developing Countries WikiContest Gold Belt Buckle

Hey WikiProject Romania, the Developing Countries WikiContest is back for a third year, and sign-ups are now open! The contest will run from 1 July to 30 September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia.

Thanks to everyone who answered the call for coordinators, and please welcome the new faces on the coordinator team: the 2024 Gold Belt Buckle winner Generalissima (talk · contribs); and the record-holder for most India-related submissions in 2024, Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs)! Following feedback from last year, adjustments have been made to the scoring rules; discussion can be found on the contest talk page.

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or contact one of the coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), Generalissima (talk · contribs), Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs).
