Hello, Romanians! I'm after WP:N-good sources for LINDA SASKIA MENCZEL, would like to make an article about her if possible. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:56, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ping to @Nenea hartia, who helped me once before. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:05, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Gråbergs Gråa Sång: Unfortunately I can't find much about her in the Romanian press. There are many references to her actually, but generally they are announcements of her exhibitions, most of them published in the local press of Timișoara. I have a subscription to this big Hungarian and Romanian newspaper archive and I searched there too but found only the same kind of articles in the same kind of newspapers (Renașterea Bănățeană from Timișoara). See for example here (the link is valid for 6 days). However, I also found a potentially useful source: her profile published on the webpage of the Timiș County Council. Recently someone also created an article about her on ro.wiki, but it's mostly her about her, so not very useful. I am sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. --Nenea hartia (talk) 16:24, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Nenea hartia, thanks, I owe you! Yeah, that WP-article wasn't there when I looked yesterday, though I found her name at . It seems to have the usual COI-beginner problems, pictures included. I learned of her name at Wikipedia:Teahouse#Posting/Pasting_from_a_google_docs_file.
- Thanks for the pdf:s, I grabbed them. On the uapt.cjtimis.ro link, I got the impression it's a website by an organization she's a member of (Uniunea Artiştilor Plastici din România)? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:51, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

- @Gråbergs Gråa Sång: yes, I think you are right. 'cjtimis.ro' is definitely the website of the Timiș County Council, but that link is weird. The official website of the Timișoara chapter of Uniunea Artiștilor Plastici din România seems to be this one, so I really don't know what to say. They seem to have two websites, one probably hosted by the County Council... On the other hand, if you think that the pdfs can be useful, I have added the complete newspapers in the same link. --Nenea hartia (talk) 17:30, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks again. I haven't tried to read the pdf-articles yet, but the text is copypaste-able, so I should get the gist with google translate. I managed to make an article on a Slovenian, Christoph Steidl Porenta, so this seemed like an interesting task. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:51, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Nenea hartia, this should count as independent RS coverage, don't you think? There may be useful commentary about her in there. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:09, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

@Gråbergs Gråa Sång: That is a nice find! TVR (Romanian Television) should indeed count as an independent RS source. I'll reproduce the dialogue below and I hope you don't mind that it's in Romanian, but it's hard for me to translate it, because the two ladies use very artistic and complicated words. But a decent translation tool like Google Translate should give you an idea:

- Excellent! I'll take a closer look at this tomorrow. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 22:12, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- Well, putting these 3 together, I'm not confident an article would be afd-safe enough. I'd like to see 1 or 2 more good ones. Maybe something will pop up. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:28, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

Standarization of ș vs s , ț vs t etc.
I propose we standardize the use of ș or s on english wikipedia.
For example Valery Oisteanu VS Andrei Oișteanu (these 2 are brothers). Both are the english versions of the article, and yet they use different versions of ș. I believe, although i'd prefer using "ș", we should use "s" considering that "ș" doesnt exist in the english alphabet. Either that, or use "sh". However doing that would also start the argument of using "uh" for "ă". I can understand standardizing it to ș too, since that is usually whats on the person's birth certificate, in Valery's and Andrei's case, even though "ș" doesnt exist in English. Although this is about the use of "ș" vs "s", realistically there proabably are instances of using a instead of ă or â, or the opposite, and most definently of t instead of ț, or vice versa. Starting this July, we will see a new contest on the scene - the Developing Countries WikiContest (WP:DCWC)! Think of it as a WikiCup but only for articles and media on developing countries.
Competitors may submit GAs, GTs, FAs, FTs, FLs, FPs, and DYK and ITN entries from/on developing countries to gain points and climb the leaderboard. Points are also awarded to those who review GAs, FAs and FLs.
Romania is listed as a developing country for the purposes of this contest and articles related to it are eligible to be submitted for points, so I encourage everyone here to sign up and compete with editors from around the world to create high-quality content!
Append your name to the DCWC signup page today!

Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon

Hello WikiProject Romania:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!

The European Destubathon
Project members are invited to participate in The European Destubathon in April. Almost $3000 in Amazon voucher prizes, including a prize for articles from your project, which can be used to buy books for content, though it can also be treated as an editathon if you're not interested in competing! Minimum content to be added to each article just to ensure that they're over a stub, though longer expansions also welcome. Entries at the end of the contest will be tipped into the 50,000 Destubbing Challenge and European Challenge. Previous contests were really enjoyable and I'm hoping this one will be too! Sign up if interested. Thanks! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:45, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello everyone,
I am requesting feedback on a draft article I am working on: [Draft:Rova Roșiori de Vede](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Rova_Ro%C8%99iori_de_Vede), about a Romanian football club.
I would appreciate any comments regarding the article’s notability, references, and structure to help it meet Wikipedia's standards for publication. If anyone is also willing to contribute by polishing or improving the draft directly, their help would be highly appreciated.
Thank you very much for your time and support!

The DCWC is back!

WikiProject Romania, the Developing Countries WikiContest will be returning for a second year, and sign-ups are now open! The contest will run from 1 July to 30 September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia.
In other news, we have a new face on the coordinator team this year: last year's sixth-place finisher, Arconning (talk · contribs)! The coordinators would like to extend a sincere thanks to Ixtal (talk · contribs), who is leaving the team, without whom the contest would not exist. After feedback from contestants last year, the scoring rules are undergoing some modifications; the new rules and a summary of the changes made will be posted to the contest talk page shortly.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page, use the {{@DCWC coordinators}} template, or contact one of the coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). The article Stadionul CFR (Craiova) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged as Unreferenced and unimproved for over 15 years. No other language, not even Romanian, has a sourced article from which to translate. Run of the mill, small stadium used by amateur teams.

Concerns about recent edits on the Anti-Hungarian sentiment article
Over the last week, two editors on this article have edited it profusely using emotionally charged language and heavy bias against Romanians in general. They have added excessive examples on Romanians destroying and vandalising Hungarian heritage in Transylvania, Anti-Hungarian statements made by Romanians, verbal and physical aggression against Hungarians, even going as far to chastise the Romanian national holiday of December 1st and historical figures such as Avram Iancu, writing in an exceptionally chauvinistic tone. I looked a little into the main editor, and they were blocked several times over edit-warring on the Magyarization article, I think they are channelling the edits they weren't able to put onto that article onto this one. In general the article presents Romanians as hostile oppressors in Transylvania who make it so their main purpose in life to discriminate against the Hungarians. Most of the citations they use have Hungarian sources too. I didn't want to revert any of their changes because it's clear they'll just get reverted back so I'm writing here to ask for help. Please take a look at the article, let me know If I'm out the one out of order here or if I'm onto something. SpandauSteaua (talk) 18:57, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
