Cite tweet template

edit

Hello Rich, I may have misread your edit summary, but it looks like this might be a good place to use the Cite tweet template Template:Cite tweet. I find it very easy to use, I only use the 3 required parameters, but maybe the expanded parameters could be good for some things too. Mikewem (talk) 19:49, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I have made the change. Feel free to tweak. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 19:55, 14 December 2025 (UTC).Reply

Please do not create anymore redirects with typos until the discussion is completed. Editors should not continue a series of edits that is being discussed or contested. DrKay (talk) 13:47, 4 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

If you had been paying attention, you would know that this is a plausible typo. Please restore it, and try to AGF. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 21:20, 4 December 2025 (UTC).Reply
Belittlement ("if you had been paying attention") is in breach of Wikipedia:Civility#Identifying incivility point 1d, as is unjustly implying bad faith (point 1c). DrKay (talk) 22:13, 4 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think that's a bit of a stretch, don't you? All the best: Rich Farmbrough 21:29, 8 December 2025 (UTC).Reply
It's interesting that had this existed, your argument in the RfD your refer to would have failed. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 19:04, 15 December 2025 (UTC).Reply

Obstructing consensus at XfDs

edit

Really, can you please cut this out: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6? It's quite disruptive. If I wanted to be a wikilawyer, I could argue that {{annual readership}} has no display and thus reverting my edit is cosmetic; that violates your restrictions. Thanks, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 04:27, 30 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Leave my user page alone, please. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 21:48, 30 December 2025 (UTC).Reply
I'm happy with your latest edits; as long as you are not populating error pages like Special:WantedTemplates or Special:WantedCategories. Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 21:50, 30 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Both the template and the categories are, indeed, wanted. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 21:52, 30 December 2025 (UTC).Reply
What makes the category deletions particularly obnoxious is that they treat dead or retired Wikipedians as non-Wikipedians. There was a compromise method of dealing with these types of categories in the past, but I can't find where it's documented at the moment. It looks pretty much as if some editors just want to delete as many categories, templates and redirects as they can. The fact that they enjoy doing this does not make it right. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 22:58, 30 December 2025 (UTC).Reply
Rich, I actually agree with you that policing userspace categories is a waste of time but consider whether it's the hill you want to die on. It seems a particularly trivial thing to get blocked over, and I know you have more to contribute to the encyclopaedia. No reader will ever care about an argument over some categories on a user page (I doubt most readers know what categories or user pages are). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:29, 30 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Nobody is dying on any hill. I'm too busy trying to upload images of defibrillators to Commons. But thanks. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 23:55, 30 December 2025 (UTC).Reply
