The Ultimate Boss

edit

Hello,

I know you had issues with this user (previously known as DarklyShadows) in the past; they have quit Wiki and left their user page with text clearly directed at me after my comments at their recent FAC. Also, look at their comments on my talk page, does that break WP:CIVIL? --K. Peake 14:36, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Kyle Peake: Don't think about it too much, he will be back sooner or later. He is just "mad" due to the comments, I guess he can't assume "good faith". Regards, MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 14:45, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I'm not sweating it to be honest, though "Can't Tell Me Nothing" is under review by him so should it be changed to second opinion? Also, how do you feel about my comments, was I correct to make them or too specific? --K. Peake 14:48, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Kyle Peake: I would give it some time, but it is your call. They were correct, if the user took your advice and changed the article, which actually looks like a huge mess, he could even make you support it. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 15:01, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
That is fully true, though he has now stated that the review will be continued prior to his apparent retirement. --K. Peake 19:05, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Kyle Peake: So he is back for good or just to finish the review? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 14:34, 16 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
See what he has recently posted and you will find that out. --K. Peake 16:50, 16 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

GA reviews

edit

Hello,

I have not been reviewing articles as much over the past week and a bit, though will be making more of a return soon but feel worried for some reason; like as someone that's seen plenty of my work, am I a slow reviewer... sorry I just get anxious? --K. Peake 18:57, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Kyle Peake: Hi there! You are not a slow reviewer at all. Anyway, take as much time as you need to make a great review and good luck with those. Nothing better to beat anxiety than a GA review. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:31, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yeah this has more so been propelled by real-life experiences, but thanks for giving feedback. I honestly do enjoy contributing to this site and it is sure as hell rewarding to get barnstars! --K. Peake 20:34, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Reviews are going fine, though I do have a question; this year-end chart for 2019 in Portugal has a streaming chart for 2019; should this be cited on year-end charts as Portugal Streaming (AFP)? --K. Peake 20:22, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Kyle Peake: I cited the singles and digital and not the stremaing. Perhaps if it doesn't enter the normal year-end chart? However, mention it is the streaming and not the regular? Nontheless, I'm not 100% sure. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:48, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Good topic

edit

Hello! Can you reply at Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/Melodrama (Lorde album)/archive1 re: whether or not you think the topic should be promoted? I don't understand what the little issues with specific articles have to do with the Good topic promotion. Thanks! IMO, we should be judging if the collection of articles meet Good topic criteria as a whole. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:40, 6 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Break My Heart Again

edit

I was about to start my review of this article, but I noticed in the past that you had successfully nominated it for deletion so thought it would be appropriate to reach out to you now and ask if the article is ready to be reviewed or still lacks notability? --K. Peake 05:42, 18 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

K. Peake, it was deleted because it lacked notability. I found more sources that were reliable and had more information about the song. The Ultimate Boss (talk) 06:38, 18 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Kyle Peake: It does look better. But I would have to give it a more detailed review. Just compare it to the WP:NSongs and take a closer look at the sources, it is you call in the end. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:22, 18 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Tours

edit

Hi I was considering reviewing your GAN of Hooligans in Wondaland Tour, though I am not too sure what the criteria is for tours. Could you try to explain somewhat from an unbiased standpoint; I have looked through some GAs so began to develop an idea but still not certain... --K. Peake 15:04, 27 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Kyle Peake: Hello! That would be nice indeeed. I have promoted two other tours, they were bigger nontheless. Take a look at some FA tours to get a good grasp, such as The Breeders Tour 2014, Mozart family grand tour and Zoo TV Tour. They usuualy have a background and/or development section, they also include the performane section (with the songs and how it was perfomed), people can be bias in this setion, so be careful! Critical response for the critics who attended certain shows, setlist with the songs usually performed and some exceptions, the tour dates and gross if available. They can also include some stage design and show production, if available. Did it helped? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 15:28, 27 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Message from Tease Pillar

edit

Hello, MarioSoulTruthFan! I just came to thank you for your help with the article for "How Do You Know?" by K. Michelle to prepare it for it's GA finalization. I would extremely like to thank you for adding the credits and personnel to the article as I have been having a hard time adding that. I also am wondering if you could try adding the credits and personnel for another article I am currently working on which is "Never" by Keyshia Cole as I do not know how I should put the credits in. I really am trying to set that article up for a GA nomination and I would like for you to also help me on that. Thank you! Tease Pillar (contributions) • (let's chat) 23:48, December 3, 2020 (UTC)

@Tease Pillar: Besides one article or two and some improvement here and there I'm not that active and I don't take requests. At that point, the article you nominated was an exception since I tried to improve it as it didn't meet the GA requirements at a bare minimum, missing sections, doubtuful/unreliable sources...it could be further improved. BTW not sure why wyou removed the chats it entered? I could do that or teach how to do that for yourself, which is much better. Please read Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Album article style advice#Personnel to have a better grasp of that section and others can also be found on that page. "Drive the Boat"

edit

I was thinking about taking this article to AFD since it does appear to lack notability, but I thought it'd be best to reach out to someone experienced in that regard like yourself first. With only nine sources, only seven of which (including Tidal) are specifically about the song, plus it did not chart or receive promotion, should this be taken to AFD? --K. Peake 14:56, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

user:Kyle Peake I’ll take it to AFD myself. So you don’t have to. The Ultimate Boss (talk) 20:01, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Non-notable album tracks

edit

Hey, MSTF. I appreciate the work you are doing to uphold notability standards on music articles. Are you aware that a whopping 19 tracks on the album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon have their own articles? It seems to me that every 4-5 days a new one is created. I haven't personally looked into the situation as my track record at AfD is bad, but you might want to.--NØ 15:21, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@MaranoFan: Greetings, I'm aware of that. However, for notability two sources are needed and all of them but 1/2 tracks, one is actually on AfD, and the other one is not. However, I don't want to have more than two/three AfDs open at the same time. I have three right now. I'm trying to make my record on there better, you can do the same. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:59, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
As I mentioned earlier, my judgement isn't very good when it comes to what should be nominated for deletion. I especially won't be nominating any articles for songs that you think are notable, as you are way more experienced. Thank you.--NØ 01:53, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
MaranoFan I guess it comes from a place with error and trial. Sometimes they will be deleted/redirected other times they won't. It dependes on who is voting and their perception on the guidelines. For example, I won't name the article because I don't want any problmes with users here. But a year before it was kept and it was pushed again to be deleted this year and this time it was voted to be deleted. Regarding music its not black and white and the bar is very low for WP:NSongs. As long as you have two articles talking about "X" song is good enough. Regarding the article you talked about...just go through each one and see if they have minimum of two sources talking about only the song. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 09:33, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Can you tell me what the track is so I could put it up on AFD for you? If the community agrees that the track is not notable, it should definitely be redirected to its parent album. ShootForTheStars (talk) 17:51, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

MaranoFan, The Ultimate Boss: Its Something Special (song), you only have one source covering it, a genius one. The rest comes from album reviews and interview with management team, which itself doesn't show notability. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:03, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Here's one source I found talking about the song . I'm not sure if it is reliable or not. ShootForTheStars (talk) 18:05, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
@The Ultimate Boss: Unfortunately is not according to wikipedia. Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums/Sources#Reliable_sources the site belongs to medium "Per WP:RSP, Medium is a blog hosting service. As a self-published source, it is considered generally unreliable and should be avoided unless the author is a subject-matter expert or the blog is used for uncontroversial self-descriptions. Medium should never be used as a secondary source for living persons." So unless the author is an expert. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:19, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi MarioSoulTruthFan, I found a couple of problems. The lists of instruments in the "Production equipment" section are confusing for non-experts ; it might be a good idea to reduce these lists to something more generic. AFDs

edit

To Superastig, Northamerica1000, and Eddie891 I'm reaching out to you because you are quite active on AFDs and I trust your judgment as you are all very experienced users.

Lately, I have been haressed, stalked and target on AFDs, a user has it out for me, and I'm not sure why. We engage in two discussions, see 1 and 2. There was no rudeness at this point or any sort of attack just two clear cut discussions. However, at some point things have changed and I'm not sure why. To begin with he makes false claims, he affirmed I nominated an article to be deleted, which I have note along with other claims. He calls the nominations to which I have gained supporters as "nonsensical" and that fall under "WP:SNOW" when he goes on a rampage nominating over ten articles for AFD all copy-paste (irony?)

He used an article that I submitted to AFD and was kept as an argument to keep other articles that I nominated and to be quite rude "and got his ass handed to him on a platter for a good reason", see this and this. I'm sure you can't use this as an argument as it is nothing but a fallacy and the sentence I enlighted should serve as warning, its just a personal attack at this point! So it should be removed from the AFD. I'm fine with someone disagree with my POV, but this feels like its over the top and stalky and quite offensive at best. Moreover, I feel like he is picking the articles I have nominated. He refuses to acknowledge any point I make and seems to make his own guidelines. If you go to the Afds I voted he is on all of them but one at the time I'm writing this. He claims "Who has time for this stupid shit?" So its stupid and doesn't have the time...but he votes? I'm confused, seems more than your casual voter.

Not sure if you can do anything about this, whats the best course of action here? I do feel stalked and target and this isn't good at all, Wikipedia is a place where you should feel safe. Should I address this to other adms or can any of you help me with this? Believe me I have never felt like this before and I never had issues with any user here, some discussions but nothing taken this far. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 23:13, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

MarioSoulTruthFan, both of you have a point in your statements as each of you follow different policies. However, HumanxAnthro seems to go out of line by flinging personal attacks in some of his statements and I find this intolerable. @JSFarman: It is all good, if it wasn't for you I would not have noticed the spelling of Matt Galle. Remember the Name

edit

Hi Mario, it has been a long time. I saw you have done a, self-proclaimed, "major lead revamp and also major revamp of Critical reception" on Remember the Name (Ed Sheeran song). I would have preferred you discuss this with me considering I had nominated the article for a GAN five days ago. I welcome the changes but this is inappropriate behaviour.--NØ 15:35, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

MaranoFan Hello! You are indeed correct, I should have discussed and warned you about the changes. Nevertheless, I believe I improved the article majorly as I was able to correct previous mistakes, add a new source, added information that was missing. The critical reception I added when the song was released divided the critic's analysis according to their preference and removed some information as one of the reviews was "copy and paste". Next time I will warn you. By the way, I will make some other changes in the meantime. Nevertheless, it is not "inappropriate behavior" as anyone is free to improve articles at any given point. I'm sure you know nobody owns wiki articles. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:08, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Majorly restructuring an article that has been GA-nominated by someone else four days earlier can reasonably be interpreted as stepping on toes. Kindly do not do this in the future without discussing it with the major contributors. I am not asking you to "warn" me, by the way, just inform. However, the article does look better and I have decided to keep the changes. Do let me know if you would like to be included as a co-nominator. Regards.--NØ 02:18, 20 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
MaranoFan Well, better to have the reconstruction than a GA fail, isn't it? I just took your groundwork and expand upon it, created a section, and re-worded some stuff, you can see the edits. However, I can see how that can come across, therefore next time I will let you know something. I wouldn't have made changes if it was to look worst, now would I? Sure add me, after the changes I did I can't possibly review it. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 10:54, 20 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
MaranoFan On another note, how do you know it is a hip-hop song? You don't point a source for it. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:02, 20 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I figured the paragraph-wide discussion about Sheeran's rapping in the Composition section would suffice. I don't remember the exact source. This one is pretty descriptive but I don't see a genre.--NØ 11:13, 20 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
There is a lot of useful information on that article that could be added. However, there is no genre. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:03, 20 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
MaranoFan "“Remember The Name,” this time drawing inspiration from the tradition of rap posse cuts with 50 Cent..." → Uproxx. What do you think? The author also states "While he also sings the hook here, there’s a clear hip-hop bent to the delivery, as well as a distinctively Eminem-inspired flavor to the beat.", but this is more regarding the delivery, I believe. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 10:45, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Good find. Maybe let us use this as the source in the infobox and we will remove the genre if the reviewer takes issue with it.--NØ 10:51, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
MaranoFan: Nevermind, I found a better source, take a look at the article page. I don't think anyone will require to remove it. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:28, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Remember the Name (Ed Sheeran song)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Talk:Leave the Door Open/GA1

edit

MarioSoulTruthFan, I noticed that you added a note to the GA nominee template for this nomination asking for a second reviewer, so I went ahead and changed the status from "onreview" to "2ndopinion". Given that this review was opened over three months ago and has been abandoned for well over two, I was wondering if you'd prefer that I put the nomination back into the pool of unreviewed noms with no loss of seniority. This would put the nomination as the sixth-oldest nomination needing a reviewer, which might well improve your chances of finding a new reviewer over that of those reviews looking for a second opinion/reviewer, though of course there are no guarantees. I'm very sorry you've had to wait so long. Please let me know your preference, and I'll make the adjustments needed. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 19:56, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thus far you are doing an awful job of explaining. "It's already below" are the words you used. I am guessing you think some of the information is covered twice. I believe you are wrong but show me clearly what you mean. I find you to be editing in a fashion which is not proper.Justanother2 (talk) 12:25, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes the information is covered below. It means it is twice in a row, just read the paragraphs MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 14:44, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
STOP. You're not using correct grammar. You called it a paragraph and it's more than one. Justanother2 (talk) 23:51, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
If information is in an article twice it could be removed. Understand in a lede things are mentioned and then repeated at times in the bio section. You don't have to revert to remove info. I really think you should study writing and stop with your mistakes. Justanother2 (talk) 23:55, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Smokin out the Window

edit

Hi MarioSoulTruthFan, this one was fairly straightforward but in the first paragraph of "Production and release", you have "Serban Ghenea mixed "Leave the Door Open" at MixStar Studios in Virginia Beach;"—I thought the song title might be a mistake and was about to change it for "Smokin out the Window" but decided to ask you instead. If "Leave the Door Open" is correct, I would remove that sentence because it's not relevant here. I also thought the list of musicians in that para is a bit long-winded—it might be best to reduce it to the main musicians and technicians since there's a list of personnel at the end of the article. Good luck with your planned FA nom. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 05:41, 27 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

It is supposed to be "Smokin out the Window". It is just GA. Cheers, MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 21:01, 28 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

How is it not a real single cover? It’s sourced and there’s even promotional cd singles https://ibb.co/9TfYJvX https://web.archive.org/web/20130703200408/http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/singlesreviews/a332198/bruno-mars-marry-you.html Friendlyhelper9949 (talk) 22:24, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

That's a promo single distributed by labels to radios, promoters and others. Not for commercial release. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 08:50, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
news sources have the art on the single announcement though. other singles art are listed from links like that Friendlyhelper9949 (talk) 05:36, 17 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Bruno Mars covers

edit

Hi, happy new year! How do you know that they are not official covers? DollysOnMyMind (talk) 21:52, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I have done that edit as well. Those covers are fan art. Those songs don't have cd singles. digital download or even vynil released alongside those covers. There is a chart source that uses those. However, Atlantic Records never used those or the songs have been promoted along side those covers. Happy new year! MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 21:54, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oops. Apologies, they seemed pretty real though, same style, same font. But the "Runaway Baby" one was a little trashy I'm not gonna lie lol. Thank u DollysOnMyMind (talk) 22:03, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

An Evening with Silk Sonic

edit

Hello there! I wanted to ask for a little more context on this revert. To be blunt, I have no idea what you mean by this edit summary and I've never seen a similarly phrased rationale for an edit, so I was hoping to get a better understanding of what you meant here. Thanks! Sock (tock talk) 12:46, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

The liner notes of the album state that for example, Mars played the congas. I have no idea why you reverted such things. Regards. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:11, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
This response has only added to my confusion. I encourage you to look at my edit again, as I didn't remove any credits and do not understand how you got that idea. I added links to congas and sitar, but I did not delete those credits.
The main goal of the edit was to reformat the credits to be more in line with the layout suggested by WP:TRACKLIST, primarily because the col-2 formatting displays strangely on mobile. I'm fine letting that go if you feel strongly about the formatting, but please be more diligent about your reverts in the future so they don't erroneously remove helpful additions. Still Breathing (Green Day song)

Hello! I recently made my first GA nomination (so I'm not even sure if this is customary procedure lol) on Still Breathing (Green Day song), after improving the article. If you're interested, the door is open. If not, then thank you regardless for making the original GA review, because it's guided me throughout my editing as, for the first time, I spruced up an article to make it GA-ready. Bruno Mars singles

edit

I see you edit Bruno related articles a lot. I checked his discography and there are a bunch of singles that are not his releases as a main act, but they are classified “As lead artist” just because of the trending way of commercially releasing songs without the ‘featuring’ mark. I think it gotta be fixed with his releases only staying there, and the other ones being moved to a proper section. Right now it looks complete, but pretty messy still ThisIs00k (talk) 14:34, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

That's way you have two table one his featured singles and the other one is solo and co-lead (Silk Sonic, etc). Its not a trend, it means they both share the same credit, It should be included in the lead of both artist. Please do not change that, it would be classified as vandalism MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:01, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
You clearly are not getting the point. For example, “APT” is a song where he has made an appearance on. It's not HIS song. He's credited that way because of the commercial trends of releasing songs on the streaming era, but that's not a song where he's the lead artist. It's not going to end up on his album, it's not released on his official platforms like YouTube etc. Same for the Gucci Mane track, or the Cardi B etc. Those are featured appearances released in a different form, but that doesn't change the fact of them being featurings. I'm discussing it with you before taking it to the page, oh and btw WP: vandalism says otherwise. You're not fooling me with these tricks, please get to the point ThisIs00k (talk) 16:46, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Does it say feature? No, its separated by a comma, so they share lead artist credit. He sings as much as Rose. A lyric video is on his YouTube channel. Do whatever you want, don't say I didn't warned you after you getting everything reverted. Not sure what you argument is here. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:57, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
This is a single then, because it says single ThisIs00k (talk) 17:20, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's a song. Please read Wikipedia:Singles criteria. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 17:30, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I read it, the song was referred to as a single by the record label releasing it on Apple Music as such, and was released commercially independent of an album. I'll add it as a single to the page ThisIs00k (talk) 17:47, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
You didn't red the all thing. That song was never promoted to RADIO, I can pick any song from the album and buy it individually and Apple Music will ALWAYS call it a single. Please don't do so, it will be reverted. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 17:55, 12 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's a banger though ThisIs00k (talk) 14:36, 13 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's beside the point. You should familiarize yourself with criteria before making any major changes to articles, mainly if they have achieved GA or FA status. Nevertheless, if you take a look at other discographies they all look like these. Moreover, its not only a trend since it benefits both performers more than if X or Y was a featured singer. Cover versions of Die with a Smile

edit

Hello! I noticed you thanked me for my contribution about Bruno's tour performance of Die with a Smile. I'm from the Spanish Wikipedia, and I wanted to offer another addition related to the song. Since my English isn't the best, I thought I'd share this translation of what I wrote on the Spanish Wiki for you to adapt with better wording if you'd like:

"On September 24, 2024, shortly after the song’s global release, Filipino singer Julie Anne San José shared a version of the song on her social media accounts, where she showcased her skills by singing while playing guitar, piano, and drums. Damiano David, lead vocalist of the Italian rock band Måneskin, performed an acoustic version during a SiriusXM Hits 1 session in their New York studio, accompanied by background singers and a live band. The magazine NME described this rendition as ‘minimalist, intimate, and emotional.’ On October 18, 2024, British singer Perrie Edwards, known for being part of the musical group Little Mix, presented her cover of Die with a Smile on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, which was later published on the station's YouTube channel."

I also have the references if you'd like me to share them! Surely, as time goes by, many more covers will emerge since the song went very viral, so it might be a good idea to continue developing this section. Let me know what you think or if there's anything else you'd need. 😊

Bruno Mars promotional content

edit

You are restoring to the Bruno Mars article text that is overly detailed and promotional to the extreme. Please desist from such disruptive editing. In your latest attempt to restore previously deleted content, you described disingenuously the deletion as "vandalism"; it was not vandalism but clean up. -The Gnome (talk) The Gnome (talk) 23:18, 15 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

THE GOCE went over it and fixed the issues. The issues for you "it has more words than mozard"...makes no sense MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:34, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
The GOCE is not the final arbiter here. I pointed out the relevance of weight in every article, pointing out the respective size of the Mozart article. Your contributions to Wikipedia, so far, are overwhelmingly related to the artist Bruno Mars himself and his works. Kindly have a look at this important policy and let us know if you are you in any capacity being paid for these efforts. -The Gnome (talk) 23:25, 15 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Again not paid. Stop annoying me with those questions MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:34, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Why are you annoyed by such a question? As long as you are being honest, this is completely unimportant. But you should still be careful: Pure love of a subject often leads us editors in expressing that love in incorrect ways. For example, fattening up the size of the article on our dear subject with details such as his every small opinion and ambition is incorrect. -The Gnome (talk) 12:08, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
if it is unimportant then why you keep asking the same question over and over again? There is no opinion on the subject, there are achievements he made during his career than you keep erasing MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:16, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
However, I'm doing the changes you suggested for the band section. Cheers, MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:47, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
You were asked that question by me only once, above. You must be confusing me for someone else. In any case, the consensus reached at the discussion about the article's size was that we should trim it down. Your fattening up edits are not only going against consensus but constitute edit warring. You are kindly requested to stop the disruptive editing. -The Gnome (talk) 18:47, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
I saw your conversation with another user about me being a paid editor and not coming forward with it. Yes and after the copy edit I've also trim down the article quite a bit for the past few weeks and everyone (but you) was happy with it. As far as I understand, the MOS:OVERLINK guideline applies to the article's main text, not to the references section. In fact, several Good Article reviews for articles I've nominated have specifically requested that the magazine or website name be linked in every citation for consistency. Sricsi (talk) 11:58, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

I have nominated several GA articles that is Overlink, once is more than enough, plus is already wikilinked on the article, more than enough. Either you WL everything or only once I rather do it only once on its first instance MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 12:00, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I understand the concern about overlinking. The reason I added links in every citation is that, in at least three of my past Good Article nominations, reviewers specifically asked me to do so for consistency. It would be great to have a concrete guideline or consensus on this, because practices seem to vary. Sricsi (talk) 12:10, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Indeed I agree with you. They asked me to remove those. I never had a another problem with that, there are already a bunch of wikilinks from Billboard on the chart sections should be consistent enough MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 12:16, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'd suggest leaving the rest of the sources as they are for now. The reviewer can be asked during the GA process for their preference on handling wikilinks in citations. That way, the final decision aligns with their expectations. Sricsi (talk) 13:23, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
We might skip GA and go straight for FA MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:28, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hello, I don't know if this is written somewhere in the guidelines, but this change has been implemented on multiple lists recently (List of awards and nominations received by Lady Gaga, List of awards and nominations received by Beyoncé, List of awards and nominations received by Ariana Grande, List of awards and nominations received by Meryl Streep...). King10 (talk) 20:39, 11 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

@King10: The Meryl Streep and Beyonce are not featured lists. The other two are, but why is that changed? That's what I want to know, who made those decisions? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 21:59, 11 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Die With A Smile

edit

Hi Mario,

Hope you're doing well.

I've been down with the flu for the past couple of days and haven't had the chance to work on the "Die With a Smile" article recently. I've just made some adjustments to the Critical reception section, but I noticed it has already gone through an initial approval. Please take a look at my changes, and feel free to revert anything (or everything) if you find it unnecessary. Sricsi (talk) 20:47, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I had no idea, hope you are feeling better. Rest and take care of yourself! I will take a look, don't worry. A lot has happened to the article to be quite frank. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:03, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
One observation, though. Someone added the following sentence to the Comments on the song's placement within Mayhem section: "Gaga has described Mayhem as an intentionally eclectic project that moves between contrasting sounds and moods before ultimately resolving in love, framing the album as a complete experience rather than a strictly cohesive genre piece.". Not sure what was the reason, because the section is about critical opinions, not Gaga's own explanation. That's why we had the quote-box there, as a "side-note", to put those critical opinions into a bit of context.
Now I feel like that quote-box is kind of redundant. If we keep this sentence, which basically summarizes what Gaga was saying, then we should not also quote her. Sricsi (talk) 10:31, 16 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
So yes, that was during the FA review. That was a footnote and the reviewer said we should do something about it. CHr0m4tiko0 moved it to the top to make it more clear, to which the reviewer agreed upon. Me and the reviewer did raise some questions regarding the quote-box, I feel it is more appropriate on the album. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:45, 16 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don’t know why the footnote existed in the first place. Nevertheless, it definitely feels unnecessary to keep the quote-box if we have that sentence in the main text. Sricsi (talk) 18:54, 16 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I do agree with you. We have a couple of options here, wait for the next reviewer to point that out (I'm sure he will); just remove it or ask CHr0m4tiko0 if he is ok with that. I don't want to go on someone's back doing that since he was and still is an important part of this article. The article wouldn't look like today without the three of us, working non-stop on it. I will ask him to come here. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:18, 16 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
We can wait for the next review round. It's not urgent at all, I've just noticed it and was wondering what you think. Sricsi (talk) 22:23, 16 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
The less work we give the reviewer the better. It should go, that's what I think, I told CHr0m4tiko0 to come here to give his two cents. It is still 2 vs 1 if wants to keep it MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:27, 16 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
While the quote itself is fine, it leans more toward Gaga's personal and lyrical reflection, whereas the prose sentence contextualizes Mayhem as a project and helps frame how critics assess the song's placement within the album, which is the focus of this section. I think the section reads more clearly and stays more focused on critical perspectives if we keep the contextual sentence and remove the quote-box. CHr0m4tiko0 (talk) 00:09, 17 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I guess all the three of us are in agreement with removal of the quote-box. It is also in line with what the previous reviewer said. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 15:19, 17 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
One editor has made some trimmings to the article today (e.g. the Top section). Not sure if that's really helping, when the article is in the middle of a FA-nomination and review process. Sricsi (talk) 15:23, 17 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Of course not, I just reverted it. It does make some good pointers which I'm trying to add on and improve, but not major changes like he did and his claim regarding cherry-pikcing is false, mainly when he only left two certifications and not charts. Bruno Mars, music video director

edit

Hi Mario, I was wondering if it would be appropriate to include ‘music video director’ in Bruno Mars’ infobox under occupations, since he has directed several of his own videos. Twister Swagger (talk) 13:48, 7 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

He mostly directs videos for his own songs or collabs. Apart from a couple videos, but he produced or wrote those songs. He is not exactly Hype Williams do you know what I mean? I'm not sure where wikipedia stands on that. If you show me a guideline for that or a similar case we will consider it for sure. I don't want to open a precedent with his article.
Kind regards, MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:40, 7 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

"Hold My Hand"

edit

Hi Mario,

I wanted to get your opinion on the "Hold My Hand" article. I'm still working on it, and I've been debating whether it should be nominated for GA or FA. While it's not as comprehensive as, say, the "Die with a Smile" article—coverage is more limited—I was wondering if FA might still be appropriate.

Lately, I've noticed that the quality of good articles has been somewhat inconsistent. There's little control over who can be a reviewer, and the final outcome often seems to depend on who happens to review the article. For example, this article (link) blows my mind—it received a Good Article rating despite looking barely more than a stub when the review was finished. And it's not like there weren't sources available online.

Anyway, I'm just curious what you think. It's not urgent, as I still have two pending GA nominations (Alice, Stupid Love) at the moment. Thanks! Sricsi (talk) 22:11, 1 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

I will give you my honest opinion. "Hold my Hand" can go for FA and become one, but only after "Die with a Smile", its out first nomination for FA article (I have done lists, but so different when compared to a full article) we will get experience on it, mistakes we made won't happen again and if you are working on both articles at the same time even better because you can correct stuff right away, before nomination you can even submit it to the GOCE to get its prose even better for FA. In the long run is better, and they might have something against "new" people nominating more than an article at the same time. Plus the backlog there is huge
Advice, get someone else (the second/third person with most contributions) to be co-nominators, sometimes you guys knows exactly what to do and I don't and I hope vice-versa (otherwise I'm just looking ahah), plus if you can't get to wiki quickly and address their concerns in due time (life, sick, etc) they will just tossed it out.
Anyone can become a GA reviewer, so articles like that will happen, you can always reassess it and it might get demoted. If you think it has grounds on it (quick glance on the sources, I have some doubts on some) and if the coverage can be broader than expand it. Some of this people might be doing quid for pro, which is legal but of course just because an article passed doesn't mean yours will pass (but I know how people are). When I started I had like 5 GA's reviewed for me and from there on I learned. There were were already a lot of articles, but lately it has been insanity! Also during my time (very active) there were two other reviewers and we just bombed the music stuff. After a month there would be like 2-3 songs on the list and like 10 albums! This was a couple of years ago, after a while they ask me to go to the FA to review stuff! The thing is that the article has to be broad in coverage. Helping with the GA backlog right now, just to get some different medals (ahah) I'm not aiming to win another backlog, I don't have time for it right now.
All in all, keep improving "Hold My Hand" and if you want to become a GA reviewer I think you have what it takes. I have helped other reviewers improving and becoming better MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:39, 1 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the advice. I'll focus on improving Hold My Hand and keeping Die with a Smile as the first FA nomination to gain experience. Sricsi (talk) 22:52, 1 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Lets home we get more than the nomination, we want the promotion. I didn't put sweat, blood an tears for nothing! You need to trimmed down, it has to do with the length of the song. 10% or around it Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Music_samples. On top of that, I don't use samples on songs. Only singles and promotional singles, but it can be used. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 23:01, 1 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Makes sense. Thanks! Sricsi (talk) 23:03, 1 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sure. But I'm confident DwaS will be FA. Sricsi (talk) 23:04, 1 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
We are gaining more traction on the article, which is good and someone is going to toss more comments at us. Images are being reviewed, let's hope we gathered a lot of support MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 23:11, 1 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

DWAS

edit

Regarding the recent FAC comments: this is an editor with whom I previously had a somewhat "interesting" interaction (see this talk page discussion: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:The_Life_of_a_Showgirl#Proposal), so I hope this is not a case of vendetta given that I am a co-nominator. Otherwise, I don't see how such comments would be helpful to anyone during the FAC review process. Sricsi (talk) 19:47, 18 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

I reviewed one of his articles for GA and we also had a very "interesting" interaction. I already contacted Gog the Mild (see FAC talk page of DWAS) regarding this case, you can do the same. One target it was chance, two is nowhere chance.. I'm not saying he doesn't make good points here and there, because he does but he doesn't want the article to become FA that's a fact MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:23, 18 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
@CHr0m4tiko0: and @Sricsi:. Am I going crazy and old or the article does not look so bad? Its never going to be perfect because its massive and its like a volcano when it comes to certifications and stuff. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 00:50, 19 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, you’re not. Although criticism can and should be expressed constructively, this editor’s commentary was anything but. I hope we can still move ahead with the nomination. Sricsi (talk) 07:58, 19 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, you're not. Especially after the extensive revisions we made in response to the constructive feedback from previous reviewers, the article is in very solid shape. We will continue, we are in too deep to withdraw it. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 14:59, 19 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
