I am seeking assistance regarding the use of the ProseSize tool on Wikipedia, specifically in relation to word counting. I am currently using the Vector Legacy skin. Although I have enabled the gadget through the Preferences section and have also added the corresponding script to my common.js page, I am still unable to view the word count for articles. I would appreciate any guidance on how to correctly configure or access this feature.
@Itcouldbepossible: Glad that you found the links to the monthly categorizations of the backlog. For the word-counting script, does "Page size" not appear in the left-hand sidebar under "Tools"? You click on that to get a word count. If "Page size" does not appear, it is hard for me, at this point, to know what is wrong. Alternative word-counting is possible with your word processor or online sites such as Wordcounter.net and Google Docs. Hope this helps. Dhtwiki (talk) 04:31, 1 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Looking at your snapshot, I see only two tools on the left-hand side, and you should have more, just by default. I also use vector legacy without many changes, and I have a number of tools listed on the left sidebar. So, your snapshot must have cut off your listing. Have you found "Page size"? Yes, I have found the Page Size option. It was in the left side of my screen. I was clearly searching in the wrong place! Thanks for your help sir. ItcouldbepossibleTalk04:56, 1 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Itcouldbepossible: I see that you have done quite a bit of work already. However, your scoring needs work. I hope that you will take the word counts of the version just previous to when you started editing and add it to the article entry, as well as observing appropriate formatting and taking a total count of what you have done. For example:
CompletedCalvin and Hobbes (2935) *R [note that the word count, not the article status flag, belongs in parenteses]
Yes! I will surely add the word counts. I couldn't add them until recently because I was unable to figure out why the tool wasn't working. Thanks for your help once more! ItcouldbepossibleTalk05:42, 1 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Movses: Is that article from a journal? It might help to know which one. The article speaks of similarities between Zaporizhzhia and Isfahan in the context of future Soviet-Iranian relations but doesn't say that it became something of consequence. It certainly doesn't state that there is a modern recognition of that fact, that they are "sister cities", something that should be listed at either city's official website in order to be included in each city's Wikipedia article. Dhtwiki (talk) 21:38, 23 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The similarity is simple, both Isfahan and Zaporozhye were important metallurgical cities in the 1980s. Of course, Zaporizhzhia and Isfahan are not sister cities today. But the question is - whether they were in the 1980s? I tried to search in Farsi and found zero. So asked you for a help with the search:-) Movses (talk) 20:00, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I am not a Farsi-speaker and so can be of limited use in that regard (anyone can always work with machine translation these days, which is how I have handled any such need to consult such sources). Dhtwiki (talk) 23:21, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello!
Thank you so much for keeping up with the bot that keeps "rescuing" links. You have far more experience than I do and I am sure that you know how to handle the situation. If there is anything I can do to help, please just let me know!
And, finally, thank you for all that you do for the Wikipedia community!
Thanks!! Read through it and will think about whether I have anything interesting/helpful to offer. Thank you again for all your work in the community (and I hope I didn't break protocol but adding to your user talk page!). Hawkinsw2005 (talk) 23:15, 27 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

The script is hanging up on Itcouldbepossible (57 articles and a humongous word count) for no reason I can see, and I noticed that they're not on the barnstar-page table. Coincidence? Jonesey95 has offered to help, and says they can't find anything obviously wrong. In solidarity, Miniapolis23:19, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I am in the midst of adding new editors to the barnstar table. See what happens when I am done. I have audited the drive page and numbers should add up there. Dhtwiki (talk) 23:46, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Miniapolis: I have just published the barnstar page in May signup order but without much in the way of totals, which I can complete if the script is not cooperating. Dhtwiki (talk) 23:59, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
