COI edit request: Addition to Applications section

edit

I have a conflict of interest regarding this topic, as I am involved in the project described below. I therefore do not intend to edit the article directly.

I would like to propose adding a short implementation example to the "Applications" section. In May 2026, students at Nagaoka Institute of Design installed a bench-shaped lantern incorporating transparent wood under the gangi, a traditional covered walkway in snowy regions, in front of the Goze Museum Takada in Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The translucent wood panels were used as part of a lighting design depicting Takada goze (visually impaired female musicians) walking through a snowy arcade.

Possible sources:

  • Joetsu Times, "ベンチ型あんどんの新作 長岡造形大の「木匠塾」寄贈 上越市 瞽女ミュージアムに設置" [New bench-shaped lantern donated by Nagaoka Institute of Design's Mokushōjuku: Installed at the Goze Museum in Joetsu City], 13 May 2026. https://j-times.jp/archives/136971
  • Joetsu Town Journal, "夜の雁木通りに高田瞽女の姿浮かび上がる 上越市東本町1に「瞽女木行灯」" [Takada Goze figures emerge on the night gangi arcade: "Goze Mokudon" at Higashihoncho 1, Joetsu City], 14 May 2026. https://www.joetsutj.com/2026/05/14/185057

Would other editors consider this a suitable short example for the applications section? If so, I have drafted a proposed text block below that can be easily copied and pasted into the article.

Proposed text:

In May 2026, transparent wood was used in a bench-shaped lantern installed in Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Students from Nagaoka Institute of Design incorporated translucent wood panels into the lantern, which was placed under a gangi covered walkway in front of the Goze Museum Takada. Backlit by LEDs, the panels depict Takada goze walking through a snowy arcade."ベンチ型あんどんの新作 長岡造形大の「木匠塾」寄贈 上越市 瞽女ミュージアムに設置" [New bench-shaped lantern donated by Nagaoka Institute of Design's Mokushōjuku: Installed at the Goze Museum in Joetsu City]. If this mention is going to be made, then an image file should accompany it. Text placed in an application section means nothing if those applications can't be seen with the reader's eyes. The text description leaves a lot to be desired; wood was used in a bench-shaped lantern installed in Joetsu. A lantern and a bench are such opposites as far as shape, size and function go, that to describe something as a "bench shaped lantern" one immediately thinks of a sofa shaped 500,000 lumen spotlight roughly the size of a small bus. And I bet, what it really looks like will be nothing like I imagined, demonstrating the raw power of an image. Regards  Spintendo  02:16, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedback. I have uploaded four freely licensed images to Wikimedia Commons:
I think the installation view under the gangi covered walkway may be the most suitable image for the article, since it shows the object in its actual application context: a bench-shaped andon lantern placed under a traditional covered walkway. The night front view and close-up image are also available on Commons as supplementary documentation of the LED-backlit transparent wood panels.
Because I have a conflict of interest, I will not add the text or image to the article myself. I would be grateful if independent editors could review whether the following short application example, with one appropriate image, would be suitable for the Applications section.
Proposed text:
In 2026, students at Nagaoka Institute of Design installed Goze Mokudon, a bench-shaped andon lantern incorporating transparent wood panels, in front of the Goze Museum Takada in Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Measuring approximately 40 cm high, 100 cm long, and 38 cm wide, the work uses LED-backlit transparent wood panels depicting Takada goze walking through a snowy gangi covered walkway.[1][2]

COI edit request: Add Goze Mokudon as an application example with image

edit

I have a conflict of interest regarding this topic, as I am involved in the project described below. I previously proposed a short application example, and an editor noted that an image should accompany the text. In response, I have uploaded freely licensed images to Wikimedia Commons and revised the proposed wording below.

I would like to request adding the following short implementation example to the “Applications” section, with one accompanying image.

Specific text to add:

In 2026, students at Nagaoka Institute of Design installed Goze Mokudon, a bench-shaped andon lantern incorporating transparent wood panels, in front of the Goze Museum Takada in Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Measuring approximately 40 cm high, 100 cm long, and 38 cm wide, the work uses LED-backlit transparent wood panels depicting Takada goze walking through a snowy gangi covered walkway.[1][2]

Suggested image:

Reason for the change:

This would add a sourced real-world implementation example of transparent wood in a lighting application. The suggested image addresses the previous concern that the application should be visible to readers rather than described only in text.

Proposed update — incorporating developments 2021–2026

edit

I would like to request that the current article be updated with the revised version available at User:Gatterdam/Focal molography draft. The draft has been reviewed and approved by Christof Fattinger (ETH Zurich / F. Hoffmann-La Roche, principal author of the foundational focal molography publications), who confirmed scientific accuracy on 2026-06-09.

Summary of proposed changes:

  • Lead: added a sentence noting commercial availability since 2024.
  • History → Commercialization (new subsection): founding of lino Biotech AG as an ETH Zurich spin-off in March 2020, Miltenyi Biotec acquisition of lino Biotech in February 2023, and the launch of the MACS Matchmaker (first commercial focal-molography instrument) in October 2024. Sourced from PR Newswire and BioSpace coverage.
  • Realization: added a paragraph on total internal reflection focal molography (TIR-M), a variant using objective-side illumination on inverted-microscope platforms (Blickenstorfer et al. 2021, Sensors and Actuators B).
  • Applications: expanded with four new subsections backed by peer-reviewed publications from 2025–2026:
    • Measurements in complex biological matrices — comparative study against SPR and BLI in 50% bovine serum (Dirscherl et al. 2025, Biosensors).
    • Concentration quantification — protein quantification with 97.8–100.3% recovery in cell culture media / 50% FBS (same study).
    • Drug discovery / Targeted protein degradation — β-catenin/TCF4 interaction in cell lysate (Cedro et al. 2025, PLOS ONE); 20-plex multiplexed measurement of DNA–VHL ligand conjugates (Raschke et al. 2026, ChemRxiv preprint).
    • Bioprocess monitoring — direct titer measurement in bioreactor harvest and cell culture media.
  • Comparison with other label-free methods (new section): neutral comparison of FM with SPR, BLI, and ITC, including relative installed base and track record.
  • Limitations: updated to reflect commercial status as of 2024.
  • References: six new sources added (two press releases for the commercialization timeline; four peer-reviewed papers / one preprint for the application examples).

Disclosure: I am an employee of Miltenyi Biotec, the parent company of lino Biotech AG, which commercializes focal molography. See my user page for the full COI/paid-contribution disclosure. In accordance with the commitment on that user page, I am refraining from editing the article directly and request independent community review per WP:COI and WP:PAID before any changes go live.

A section-aligned side-by-side comparison of the current live article versus the draft is available on request, or can be reproduced from the draft's edit history.

Thank you for your time. — Gatterdam (talk) 11:43, 9 June 2026 (UTC)

Edit request — 14 atomic changes incorporating developments 2021–2026

edit

Hello Spintendo, thank you for the clarification. Following the Edit COI submitter instructions, I have decomposed my previous narrative request into 14 atomic edit requests below. Each contains the verbatim remove text (where applicable), verbatim add text, location, reference template, and rationale.

Disclosure: I am an employee of Miltenyi Biotec, parent company of lino Biotech AG, which commercializes focal molography. See my user page for the full COI / paid-contribution disclosure. I am refraining from editing the article directly per WP:COI and WP:PAID.

Where the same new reference is cited by more than one block, it is defined inline at first use (Blocks 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10) and reused thereafter via . Six new references are introduced overall; all existing references are preserved unchanged.

Block 1 — Lead: copy-edit "holography" → "focal molography"

  1. Please remove the fourth sentence of the only paragraph of the Lead section:
"Contrary to refractometric methods for label-free biomolecular interaction analysis, such as surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and reflectometric interference spectroscopy (RIfS), holography allows quantification of molecular interactions in living cells in real time."
  2. Please add the following as the fourth sentence of the only paragraph of the Lead section:
"Contrary to refractometric methods for label-free biomolecular interaction analysis, such as surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and reflectometric interference spectroscopy (RIfS), focal molography allows quantification of molecular interactions in living cells in real time."
  3. Reference: no new reference required (copy-edit only).
  4. Reason: The current wording reads "holography allows quantification..."; holography in general does not by itself enable this — the property is specific to focal molography. The surrounding paragraph discusses focal molography throughout. Restoring the full term aligns the sentence with the article subject.

Block 2 — Lead: add commercial-availability sentence

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following as a new fifth (final) sentence of the only paragraph of the Lead section, immediately after the sentence ending "...in real time.":
"Focal molography was developed through a collaboration between ETH Zurich and Roche from 2014 to 2020 and has been commercially available since 2024."
  3. Reference: defined inline above (PRNewswire2023, press release, PR Newswire, 2023-02-22).
  4. Reason: The Lead currently ends at the 2020 academic state. Per MOS:LEAD the Lead should summarise the article body. The commercialization timeline (spin-off 2020, acquisition 2023, first commercial instrument 2024) is a material development of the past six years; the press release establishes commercial availability since 2024.

Block 3 — History: add Commercialization subsection

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following new subsection at the end of the History section, immediately after the existing sentence ending "...from 2014 to 2020.":
    === Commercialization ===
In March 2020, lino Biotech AG was founded as an ETH Zurich spin-off in Zurich to commercialize focal molography. The company received funding from Roche Venture Fund, High-Tech Gründerfonds, and private investors.

In February 2023, Miltenyi Biotec, a German biotechnology company, acquired lino Biotech. The technology continues to be developed at the Zurich site. In October 2024, lino Biotech launched the MACS Matchmaker, the first commercial focal molography instrument.

  3. Reference: reuses `PRNewswire2023` (defined in Block 2); newly defined inline `BioSpace2023` (news article, BioSpace, 2023-02-22).
  4. Reason: The History section currently terminates in 2020 with the ETH–Roche collaboration. The two acquisitions/foundations and the 2024 instrument launch are material to a complete history of the method, are independently reported by two distinct outlets (a wire service and a trade publication), and follow standard Wikipedia practice for documenting commercialization timelines of academic-origin biotechnologies.

Block 4 — Realization: heading grammar fix

  1. Please remove the current Realization heading:
== Realization: A special photolithographic method enables the synthesis molograms ==
  2. Please add in its place:
== Realization: A special photolithographic method enables the synthesis of molograms ==
  3. Reference: no new reference required (copy-edit only).
  4. Reason: Insertion of the missing preposition "of" between "synthesis" and "molograms". The current heading is ungrammatical; pure copy-edit, no content change.

Block 5 — Realization: add paragraph on TIR-M variant

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following as a new second paragraph of the Realization section, immediately after the existing paragraph ending "...desired analytical application.":
"A variant of focal molography, total internal reflection focal molography (TIR-M), uses an objective-side illumination geometry to enable measurements on commercial inverted microscope platforms."
  3. Reference: defined inline above (Blickenstorfer 2021, Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical).
  4. Reason: TIR-M is a published instrumental variant of focal molography (peer-reviewed paper, 2021) extending the method to inverted-microscope platforms. It is currently entirely absent from the article.

Block 6 — Applications: heading simplification

  1. Please remove the current Applications heading:
== Applications of the molography method ==
  2. Please add in its place:
    == Applications ==
  3. Reference: no new reference required (heading style only).
  4. Reason: Shorter heading consistent with MOS:HEAD (avoid redundant words; the article's subject is already established).

Block 7 — Applications: new subsection "Measurements in complex biological matrices"

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following new subsection immediately after the existing numbered list (item 5 ending "...by means of binding assays."):
=== Measurements in complex biological matrices ===
A distinguishing feature of focal molography is its ability to perform kinetic measurements directly in complex biological samples without prior purification. A 2025 comparative study evaluated focal molography against SPR and BLI for antibody–antigen interactions using single-domain antibodies (VHHs). Measurements in 50% bovine serum yielded KD values within 1.8-fold of those obtained in standard buffers. The method maintained stable baseline signals in serum without requiring external referencing, a practical advantage over SPR and BLI, which exhibited baseline drift under similar conditions. For proteins with high intrinsic non-specific binding tendencies, such as Granzyme B, focal molography was able to determine kinetic parameters where SPR and BLI measurements were not feasible due to non-specific binding to sensor surfaces.

  3. Reference: defined inline above (Dirscherl 2025, Biosensors, Open Access).
  4. Reason: The existing list-item 2 ("Quantification of biomarkers in biological samples") is unaccompanied by quantitative cross-platform evidence. The cited 2025 peer-reviewed study provides the SPR/BLI cross-platform comparison in 50% bovine serum (within 1.8-fold of buffer) that empirically substantiates the existing list claim.

Block 8 — Applications: new subsection "Concentration quantification"

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following new subsection immediately after Block 7:
    === Concentration quantification ===
Beyond kinetic analysis, focal molography can be used for quantitative concentration measurements in complex matrices. Studies have demonstrated protein quantification in cell culture media and 50% fetal bovine serum with recovery rates of 97.8–100.3% and inter-assay coefficients of variation below 1.3%.

  3. Reference: reuses `Dirscherl2025` (defined in Block 7).
  4. Reason: Concentration measurement is a distinct application from kinetic measurement and is reported quantitatively in the same Dirscherl 2025 study. The recovery (97.8–100.3 %) and CV (< 1.3 %) come directly from the paper.

Block 9 — Applications: new subsection "Drug discovery"

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following new subsection immediately after Block 8:
    === Drug discovery ===
Focal molography has been used to characterize protein–protein interactions relevant to drug discovery. A 2025 study measured the interaction between β-catenin and TCF4, a target in Wnt signaling-related cancers, in both buffer and cell lysate. KD values in cell lysate (100–140 nM) were comparable to those obtained in buffer (68–160 nM), while SPR measurements in cell lysate were not feasible due to non-specific background binding.

  3. Reference: newly defined inline `Cedro2025` (PLOS ONE, Open Access).
  4. Reason: The Cedro 2025 PLOS ONE paper provides a specific, named pharmaceutical example (β-catenin / TCF4, a published cancer drug target) with direct cell-lysate vs. SPR comparison. The cell-lysate comparison (focal molography feasible, SPR infeasible due to non-specific background) is explicit in the paper.

Block 10 — Applications: new sub-subsection "Targeted protein degradation"

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following new sub-subsection (heading level ====) immediately after Block 9, as a child of "Drug discovery":
    ==== Targeted protein degradation ====
The multiplexed measurement capability is suited for targeted protein degradation research. A 2026 study used 20-plex multiplexed measurements to investigate linker effects in DNA–VHL ligand conjugates ("DNA-PROTACs"). The approach enabled simultaneous affinity determination of 20 compounds per experiment, achieving 20-fold higher throughput than sequential measurements. DNA-directed immobilization via Watson–Crick base pairing allowed rapid array formation within 5–10 minutes.

  3. Reference: defined inline above (Raschke 2026, RSC Chemical Biology, Open Access, first published 20 March 2026).
  4. Reason: Targeted protein degradation (PROTACs) is a major emerging field in drug discovery; this Open Access peer-reviewed paper provides a verifiable primary source for the 20-fold throughput claim and the DNA-directed immobilization timing.

Block 11 — Applications: new subsection "Bioprocess monitoring"

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following new subsection immediately after Block 10:
    === Bioprocess monitoring ===
Focal molography has been used for protein quantification directly in cell culture media without sample preparation, a capability relevant to bioprocess quality control.

  3. Reference: reuses `Dirscherl2025` (defined in Block 7).
  4. Reason: The Dirscherl 2025 paper explicitly demonstrates protein quantification in cell culture media. Bioprocess quality control is an industrially distinct use case from drug discovery and warrants a brief separate subsection.

Block 12 — New top-level section "Comparison with other label-free methods"

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following new section immediately after the Applications section (and before the References section):
    == Comparison with other label-free methods ==
Focal molography belongs to a family of label-free techniques for biomolecular interaction analysis. Other established methods include surface plasmon resonance (SPR), bio-layer interferometry (BLI), and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC).

Unlike SPR and BLI, which measure bulk refractive index changes near the sensor surface, focal molography uses spatial filtering to selectively detect molecules bound to the patterned binding sites. This design reduces sensitivity to non-specific binding and temperature fluctuations. A 2025 comparative study found that KD values determined by all three methods were within a 2.4-fold range in standard buffers. In complex matrices such as 50% serum, focal molography maintained stable baselines, whereas SPR and BLI exhibited baseline drift requiring correction. Similarly, kinetic measurements of the β-catenin / TCF4 interaction in cell lysate were feasible with focal molography but not with SPR.

SPR and BLI have larger installed bases and longer commercial histories, with instruments available since approximately 1990 and 2005, respectively. Focal molography was commercialized in 2024.

  3. Reference: all references already defined elsewhere (`":2"` existing; `Dirscherl2025` from Block 7; `Cedro2025` from Block 9).
  4. Reason: Per WP:NPOV, an article describing a recently commercialized technology benefits from explicit comparison with established alternatives. Both strengths (stable baseline in complex matrices, smaller temperature dependence) and relative weaknesses (newer technology, smaller installed base, single commercial provider) are stated. The numerical comparisons come from the cited 2025 peer-reviewed paper.

Block 13 — New top-level section "Limitations"

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following new section immediately after Block 12:
    == Limitations ==
As with all biosensor technologies, focal molography has specific characteristics and constraints:

    * Established use: As a technology commercialized in 2024, focal molography has a shorter track record than SPR (available since approximately 1990) or BLI (since approximately 2005).
    * Chip fabrication: The molograms require specialized photolithographic manufacturing processes.
    * Commercial availability: As of 2024, commercial instruments are available from one provider, whereas SPR and BLI instruments are offered by multiple manufacturers.

  3. Reference: existing `":2"` (Gatterdam 2017); no new reference required.
  4. Reason: Per WP:NPOV, known limitations should be stated explicitly. All three items are factual and verifiable: the 2024 commercialization date is documented via the press release in Block 2; the photolithographic fabrication requirement is in the existing Gatterdam 2017 reference; the single-provider status as of 2024 is a verifiable market fact.

Block 14 — New top-level section "See also"

  1. Please remove: nothing (addition only).
  2. Please add the following new section immediately after Block 13 (and before the References section):
    == See also ==
    * Biomolecular interaction analysis
    * Surface plasmon resonance
    * Bio-layer interferometry
    * Label-free detection
    * Biosensor
    * Protein–protein interaction
    * Dissociation constant

  3. Reference: none (internal Wikipedia links only).
  4. Reason: A "See also" section is standard Wikipedia structure (per MOS:SEEALSO) and helps reduce the article's orphan status (currently flagged with Orphan) by signalling reciprocal-link candidates. All linked articles are directly related (peer techniques, parent concept, foundational terms).

Thank you for the careful review. I will not edit the article directly; please apply or revise these as you see fit. Happy to provide further detail or revised wording on any individual block.

Update: Production and Manufacturing

edit

Hi all, I would like to suggest an update to the section. First, Schott Pharma now has locations across 15 countries instead of 14. Second, I propose replacing the current list structure (which is both incomplete and inaccurate) with a summary of Schott Pharma's production locations. Then the incomplete template could also be removed.

Proposed text:

The company is headquartered in Mainz and operates in 17 locations across 15 countries. Its main manufacturing activities are located in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
In Europe, the company’s production sites are located in Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Serbia, Russia, Italy, and France.
Schott Pharma operates production facilities in the United States and in Mexico, and in South America in Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia.
In Asia, it operates productions in China, Indonesia, and India (through a joint venture with the Serum Institute of India and TPG).

Let me know if this would work. Thanks! Elisabeth at SCHOTT (talk) 13:47, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

@Spintendo, thanks for reviewing the edit request. I may not have explained my intention clearly enough. My aim was to replace the existing list-style “Production & Manufacturing” section with a concise prose summary, not to add to the list.
I would also be happy with a shorter version, for example:
Production and Manufacturing
Schott Pharma is headquartered in Mainz, Germany, and operates manufacturing sites across Europe, North America, South America and Asia.[2]
Its business is divided into two divisions: …
Would this address the WP:NOTDIRECTORY concern? Thanks in advance. Elisabeth at SCHOTT (talk) 08:15, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

Revised edit request: concise manufacturing summary

edit

Hi, I would like to submit a narrower version of my previous request, taking into account the concern raised under WP:NOTDIRECTORY. I am asking to replace the list of manufacturing sites in the "Production and Manufacturing" section with a brief prose summary.

Suggested replacement:

Schott Pharma is headquartered in Mainz, Germany, and operates manufacturing sites in Europe, North America, South America, and Asia.[3]

This would avoid a directory-style list while still giving readers a concise overview of the company’s manufacturing footprint. Thanks for considering this revised request. Elisabeth at SCHOTT (talk) 09:14, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

BLP/BLPCRIME concern: Epstein section

edit

Disclosure: I have a personal connection to the subject and a conflict of interest, so I am not editing the article directly. I'm raising this here for independent editors. I am not being paid.

I have two policy concerns about the "Epstein Controversy" section and propose a more neutral version. I am not asking to remove the material entirely.

1. WP:BLPCRIME and sensational quotes. The section quotes "owes him two girls" and "make it up to him in Paris". These lines strongly imply involvement in serious criminal conduct. Sturm has not been charged with or convicted of any offence, and the emails are described in the sources only as "allegedly" between her and Epstein. Per WP:BLPCRIME, WP:BLPSTYLE and WP:UNDUE, reproducing these specific quotes gives the matter undue weight for a living person facing no charges. The encyclopedic facts can be stated neutrally without the most damaging phrasing.

2. Section heading (WP:CSECTION). Standalone "Controversy" headings are discouraged. I suggest merging this content into the "Private life" section rather than keeping a dedicated heading.

Proposed wording (to sit within "Private life"):

In 2026, following the release of emails from the Epstein files by the US Department of Justice, NRC Handelsblad reported a 2012 email exchange said to involve Sturm and Jeffrey Epstein. Sturm described her contact with Epstein as "naive" and a "serious error of judgement".

This keeps the reliably sourced facts and her own public response, while removing quotes that are unduly sensational and imply uncharged criminal conduct. Happy to discuss and defer to consensus. Thanks. TMeijer86 (talk) 09:35, 22 June 2026 (UTC)

BLPCRIME prevents "...any article that suggests (an unconvicted person) has committed, is suspected of, is a person of interest in, or is accused of having committed a crime." What is it about those emails, in particular, that suggests Sturm has committed, is suspected of, is a person of interest in, or is accused of having committed a crime? When ready to proceed with your answer, kindly switch the request template's answer parameter to read from |ans=y to |ans=n.  Spintendo  07:09, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for engaging. Here is the BLPCRIME concern. Jeffrey Epstein was a convicted sex trafficker. The quoted exchange has him saying Sturm "owes him two girls", with her reported reply that she "will make it up to him in Paris". To an ordinary reader that implies Sturm was involved in procuring or supplying girls to Epstein, in other words complicity in sex trafficking. That is a serious crime. Sturm has never been charged with, arrested for, or convicted of any such offence, and the sources themselves describe the emails only as "allegedly" hers. By reproducing those specific quotes, the article suggests to readers that she is a person of interest in, or complicit in, criminal conduct. That is precisely the implication WP:BLPCRIME asks us to avoid for unconvicted individuals.
Even apart from BLPCRIME, the same change is supported by WP:BLPSTYLE, which cautions against sensationalism, and by WP:UNDUE. The direct quotations are disproportionate to the encyclopedic significance of this episode for the subject.
To be clear, I am not asking to suppress the matter. The proposed wording keeps the reliably sourced facts: that NRC Handelsblad reported a 2012 email exchange said to involve her and Epstein, and her own public response describing it as "naive" and "a serious error of judgement". It removes only the sensational quotes and the standalone "Controversy" heading. I will switch the template to |ans=n as suggested. Thanks again. TMeijer86 (talk) 09:24, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Edit Request: Update Lead Paragraph (Outdated 2019 Stats)

edit

  • Description:

The current lead paragraph for Avaya relies on 2019 data and obsolete terminology. This request updates the section to reflect the company's 2026 status as a private, enterprise-focused entity with its current Infinity and Nexus architectures.

  • Current Text:

"Avaya LLC (/əˈvaɪ.ə/), formerly Avaya Inc., is an American multinational technology company headquartered in Morristown, New Jersey,[4] that provides cloud communications and workstream collaboration services. The company's platform includes unified communications and contact center services.[5][6][7] In 2019, the company provided services to 220,000 customer locations in 190 countries.[8]"

  • Proposed Text:

"Avaya LLC (/əˈvaɪ.ə/), formerly Avaya Inc., is a privately held American multinational technology company headquartered in Morristown, New Jersey, that provides enterprise customer experience (CX), unified communications (UC), and critical communications infrastructure solutions. The company's core portfolio includes the Avaya Infinity platform for AI-powered workflow orchestration and Avaya Nexus, a platform designed for mission-critical voice environments supporting on-premises, hybrid, and cloud deployments. Avaya provides communication services to over 90,000 customers worldwide, including approximately 90% of the Fortune 100, with a strategic focus on large global enterprise clients."

  • Supporting Sources:

No Jitter (Nov 6, 2025): Avaya Infinity Architecture

CX Today (April 17, 2024): Verifies 90% of Fortune 100 base and private status

The Futurum Group (Mar 19, 2026): Avaya Nexus Launch & Hybrid Support

  • Rationale: Per WP:LEAD, the lead must summarize the current state of the subject. The proposed text replaces outdated marketing jargon and seven-year-old statistics with third-party verified facts regarding the company's 2026 business model and product architectures.

Archer15000 (talk) 17:04, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi Archer15000. I am declining this edit request: while you are right to identify marketing jargon as a concern, the updated paragraph is even more reliant on marketing speak and does not adhere to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. For instance, why say "strategic focus on large global enterprise clients" when you could go with something much more plainspoken, like "Avaya's customer base consists mainly of large corporate entities?" That's just one example, and I would recommend rewriting the rest of the paragraph if you intend to resubmit it. Thank you for your understanding. Altamel (talk) 04:35, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the detailed feedback and examples, Altamel. I have revised the draft to better align with Wikipedia’s neutral point of view and verifiability standards. I removed product-specific and promotional language, and I updated the lead paragraph to use more neutral, descriptive wording based on the sources.
Proposed Text:
Avaya LLC (/əˈvaɪ.ə/), formerly Avaya Inc., is a privately held American multinational technology company headquartered in Morristown, New Jersey. The company provides software and services for customer experience, contact center, and unified communications. It serves more than 90,000 customers worldwide, including around 90% of the Fortune 100.
Supporting Sources:
Rationale:
This revision is intended to reflect the company’s current description in a neutral, source-based way.
Archer15000 (talk) 16:07, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
The first two sentences as revised look fine to me. I'm on the fence about the third sentence: I believe it's OK to include the customer stats if they can be verified, but I am not familiar with cxtoday.com and whether it is a reliable source. I'll leave it up to another reviewer to assess. You are free to submit the revised request back into the queue for someone else to take a look. Altamel (talk) 15:12, 9 May 2026 (UTC)

Revised Lead Paragraph Update (COI)

edit

Please can the Lead paragraph be updated as follows to remove outdated 2019 stats and a simplified description.

Current Text: "Avaya LLC (/əˈvaɪ.ə/), formerly Avaya Inc., is an American multinational technology company headquartered in Morristown, New Jersey,[4] that provides cloud communications and workstream collaboration services. The company's platform includes unified communications and contact center services.[5][6][7] In 2019, the company provided services to 220,000 customer locations in 190 countries.[8]"  Preceding unsigned comment added by Archer15000 (talkcontribs) 11:41, 26 June 2026 (UTC)

Proposed Text:

"Avaya LLC (/əˈvaɪ.ə/), formerly Avaya Inc., is a privately held American multinational technology company headquartered in Morristown, New Jersey. The company provides software and services for customer experience, contact center, and unified communications."

Supporting Sources:

  • Avaya LLC - Company Profile (Bloomberg) — Verifies company name (LLC) and core business focus on software and services for contact centers and unified communications.
  • Internal Consistency: The company's private status and Morristown headquarters are already established and sourced within the existing "History" section and the article's infobox.

Rationale:

This revised request follows guidance from Altamel and focuses on the first two sentences previously reviewed as acceptable. It uses a high-authority Bloomberg profile to verify the LLC designation and core software focus, while maintaining consistency with the private status and headquarters location already documented elsewhere in the article.

Archer15000 (talk) 07:32, 14 May 2026 (UTC)

Hello reviewers! I am removing the "answered" parameter to place this request back into the active queue. This is a revised version of a previous request. Based on prior feedback from another editor, I have dropped the third sentence regarding customer statistics to avoid any reliable sourcing issues.

The proposed text now only includes the first two sentences (which were previously reviewed as acceptable), supported by a Bloomberg company profile. Thank you for your time! Archer15000 (talk) 12:09, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Edit request 1 of 7: Infobox cleanup and lead rewrite

edit

Hi, @Spintendo:. I'm a paid editor working on behalf of Intuit through NP Digital. Per WP:PAID, I'm posting requested changes here rather than editing the article directly.

Following the 26 May 2026 clarification request, I've broken my Sandbox draft into seven specific proposals so each change and its rationale can be reviewed on its own. This is the first. I hope I've formatted this correctly; please LMK if you'd like to see these suggestions differently.

Requested change 1.1 – Infobox industry field

edit

Change industry = Enterprise software to industry = Financial software.

The current article's Lead already describes Intuit as a company that "specializes in financial software," and Intuit's FY2025 Form 10-K uses the same framing. "Enterprise software" is narrower than what Intuit actually sells, given that TurboTax and Credit Karma are consumer products and QuickBooks and Mailchimp are SMB products.

Requested change 1.2 – Infobox key_people update

edit

The current infobox still lists Suzanne Nora Johnson as chair, but on January 22, 2026, she stepped down from the board and Sasan Goodarzi became chair in addition to his existing CEO role. Vasant Prabhu became lead independent director on the same date.

Change from:

| key_people =

To:

| key_people =

Sources:

  • Intuit's November 20, 2025 press release announcing the transition: Intuit Investor Relations
  • Intuit's Form 10-Q for the quarter ended January 31, 2026, which lists Goodarzi as "Chairman and Chief Executive Officer": SEC filing
  • A February 24, 2026 Business Wire announcement using the title "Intuit Chairman and CEO Sasan Goodarzi" in active use: Business Wire
  • NVIDIA's May 8, 2026 announcement of Suzanne Nora Johnson's appointment to its board, which independently confirms her departure from Intuit: NVIDIA Newsroom

Requested change 1.3 – Lead rewrite

edit

The article carries a Lead rewrite maintenance tag from March 2022. Setting aside what specifically prompted that tag, the current Lead has a few issues worth addressing:

  • It's out of date. The Credit Karma (2020) and Mailchimp (2021) acquisitions aren't mentioned. The 2022 $141 million multistate settlement and the 2024 FTC Final Order — both of which postdate the current Lead — aren't mentioned. The March 2026 Fifth Circuit ruling vacating the FTC order isn't mentioned, even though it's now in the body.
  • It contains a stale figure. The "more than 95% of revenue" line is sourced to the 2019 10-K.
  • It lacks basic historical anchors (founding year, IPO, the 1993 ChipSoft acquisition) that the body covers in detail.
  • It includes a third paragraph specifically about lobbying. The proposed Lead consolidates the regulatory and lobbying narrative into a single paragraph and lets the Lobbying section in the body carry the detail, which fits WP:LEAD's guidance on proportionate summary.

Proposed Lead:

Intuit Inc. is an American financial technology company that develops financial software and services for consumers, businesses, and accounting professionals, including its TurboTax and QuickBooks products. Founded in 1983, the company is headquartered in Mountain View, California. What's different from the current Lead:

  • Adds 1983 founding, 1993 IPO, and the ChipSoft acquisition as historical anchors.
  • Adds the Credit Karma (December 2020) and Mailchimp (November 2021) acquisitions.
  • Names the 2019 ProPublica findings explicitly (search engine delisting, military discount), preserving the specifics from the current Lead.
  • Adds the 2022 $141 million multistate settlement and the 2024 FTC Final Order.
  • Reflects the March 2026 Fifth Circuit ruling, which is already covered in the body.
  • Adds a one-line reference to the High-Tech Employee Antitrust Litigation.
  • Drops the outdated 2019 international-revenue claim.
  • Removes the standalone lobbying paragraph; the Lobbying section in the body covers the detail.

What hasn't changed:

  • All controversies in the current Lead are still in the proposed Lead.
  • ProPublica is named directly as the source of the 2019 findings.
  • The Free File Alliance departure is still there.

If this is accepted, the Lead rewrite tag can come down.

Posting the remaining six proposals as separate sections below once this one is addressed. Jcaspers37 (talk) 14:16, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Proposed article text
PlayOn Sports is an American sports technology company focused on high school athletics. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the company operates a portfolio of brands — including GoFan, MaxPreps, and the NFHS Network — that together provide digital ticketing, live streaming, and athletic coverage to high schools across the United States.
History
Origins (2006–2008)
PlayOn Sports originated as a division of Turner Broadcasting System, a subsidiary of Time Warner, Inc., launching in August 2006 with a focus on producing and digitally streaming collegiate sporting events. In 2008, the company became an independent entity under the leadership of founder David Rudolph.[4]
Pivot to High School Sports (2009–2012)
Following its transition out of Turner Broadcasting, the company shifted its focus to high school sports. In 2009, it produced a webcast of a Georgia state wrestling championship and subsequently expanded coverage through partnerships with state athletic associations.[5] The company subsequently expanded coverage of high school events across multiple states, establishing partnerships with state athletic associations.
NFHS Network (2013-present)
In 2013, PlayOn partnered with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) to launch the NFHS Network, a subscription-based service that streams high school sports events. The network is a joint venture with the NFHS and its member state associations, with PlayOn responsible for day-to-day operations.[6][7] The NFHS is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, and serves as the national governing body for high school sports and performing arts activities.[8][9]
School Broadcast Program
PlayOn and the NFHS Network also developed the School Broadcast Program (SBP) to support member high schools in building out their own broadcast capabilities. The program provides students with hands-on production experience and distributes event videos — including regular season sports, graduations, and school announcements — through branded school pages on the NFHS Network platform. Schools participating in the program are also able to generate revenue from their broadcasts.[10]
Pixellot Partnership (2017–present)
In 2017, PlayOn partnered with Pixellot, an automated sports production technology company, to deploy AI-driven camera systems for high school coverage.[11] As of 2025, the system has been implemented in thousands of U.S. high schools.[12] In November 2025, the companies announced a five-year extension of the partnership through 2030.[13]
KKR Investment and GoFan Merger (2022)
In 2022, PlayOn announced an investment from KKR, a global investment firm, with participation from existing investor Panoramic Ventures (formerly BIP Capital), an Atlanta-based venture capital firm.[14] KKR made its investment through its North America Fund XIII.[15][16]
That same year, PlayOn merged with GoFan, a digital ticketing platform for high school events. The transaction was supported by additional investment from KKR and expanded the company's ticketing and event management operations.[17][18] The combined company offered streaming and digital ticketing services to approximately 10,000 high schools at the time of the merger.
MaxPreps Acquisition (2025)
In 2025, PlayOn acquired MaxPreps from CBS Sports, a division of Paramount Global. MaxPreps is a high school sports platform which publishes scores, schedules, statistics, and rankings across multiple sports nationwide.[19] Financial terms were not disclosed.[20] The acquisition united PlayOn streaming and ticketing capabilities with MaxPreps editorial content under a single company.[21]
Leadership (2025)
PlayOn Sports is an American sports technology company focused on high school athletics. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the company operates a portfolio of brands — including GoFan, MaxPreps, and the NFHS Network — that together provide digital ticketing, live streaming, and athletic coverage to high schools and club sports organizations across the United States.

History

edit

Origins (2006–2008)

edit

PlayOn Sports originated as a division of Turner Broadcasting System, a subsidiary of Time Warner, Inc., launching in August 2006 with a focus on producing and digitally streaming collegiate sporting events. In 2008, the company became an independent entity under the leadership of founder David Rudolph.[1]

Pivot to High School Sports (2009–2012)

edit

Following its transition out of Turner Broadcasting, the company shifted its focus to high school sports. In 2009, it produced a webcast of a Georgia state wrestling championship and subsequently expanded coverage through partnerships with state athletic associations.[2]

NFHS Network (2013–present)

edit

In 2013, PlayOn partnered with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) to launch the NFHS Network, a subscription-based service that streams high school sports events.[3] The network is a joint venture with the NFHS and its member state associations, with PlayOn responsible for day-to-day operations.[4] The NFHS is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, and serves as the national governing body for high school sports and performing arts activities.[5]

School Broadcast Program

edit

PlayOn and the NFHS Network also developed the School Broadcast Program (SBP) to support member high schools in building out their own broadcast capabilities. The program provides students with hands-on production experience and distributes event videos — including regular season sports, graduations, and school announcements — through branded school pages on the NFHS Network platform. Schools participating in the program are also able to generate revenue from their broadcasts.[6][7]

Pixellot Partnership (2017–present)

edit

In 2017, PlayOn partnered with Pixellot, an automated sports production technology company, to deploy AI-driven camera systems for high school coverage.[8] As of 2025, the system has been implemented in thousands of U.S. high schools.[9] In November 2025, the companies announced a five-year extension of the partnership through 2030.[10]

KKR Investment and GoFan Merger (2022)

edit

In 2022, PlayOn announced an investment from KKR, a global investment firm, with participation from existing investor Panoramic Ventures (formerly BIP Capital), an Atlanta-based venture capital firm.[11] KKR made its investment through its North America Fund XIII.[12][13]

That same year, PlayOn merged with GoFan, a digital ticketing platform for high school events. The transaction was supported by additional investment from KKR and expanded the company's ticketing and event management operations.[14][15] At the time of the merger, the combined company served nearly 10,000 high schools with streaming and digital ticketing services.[16]

MaxPreps Acquisition (2025)

edit

In 2025, PlayOn acquired MaxPreps from CBS Sports, a division of Paramount Global. MaxPreps is a high school sports platform which publishes scores, schedules, statistics, and rankings across multiple sports nationwide.[17] Financial terms were not disclosed.[18] The acquisition united PlayOn streaming and ticketing capabilities with MaxPreps editorial content under a single company.[19]

Leadership (2025)

edit

In October 2025, Perkins Miller was named chief executive officer. Founder David Rudolph transitioned to a leadership role focused on streaming and analytics.[20][21]

Products and Services

edit

PlayOn operates several services related to high school athletics.[22]

GoFan is a digital ticketing platform used by schools and athletic organizations to manage event admissions.[23]

NFHS Network is a subscription-based streaming service that provides live and on-demand coverage of high school sports events.[24]

MaxPreps is an editorial platform that publishes scores, schedules, statistics, and rankings for high school sports in the United States.[25]

Recognition

edit

PlayOn has appeared on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the United States, including in 2025.[26] The company has also been recognized on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 for four consecutive years, reporting 136% revenue growth over a three-year period as of the 2025 ranking.[27] PlayOn has also been named a Pacesetter by the Atlanta Business Chronicle among the fastest-growing private companies in metro Atlanta.[28]

Requesting infobox edits

edit

Hi, this is a request that I'm making as an employee of ClimateWorks Foundation, acting on the organization's behalf.

Starting small, I want to suggest two additions to the infobox table that seem to be commonly included in other non-profit organization Wikipedia articles:

Also, the logo in the infobox is our old logo. Our new logo file is here: https://www.climateworks.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/cw-logo-white-bg.svg

Could someone review and make these updates? If there's anything I can do to help, let me know. I'm planning more requests to help add better sourcing to this article and correct and update information about the organization, so if editors have any pointers, that would be appreciated. TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 18:50, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

Hello! I've  Implemented the infobox changes, though for the new logo, you will need to upload it to Commons first via the upload wizard, and file a VRT ticket (the upload wizard will provide instructions for how to do so.) monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 18:55, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks, User:MSK! Can I ask: is it possible to add "foundation" in the Type, as well as "non-profit"? Also, I was able to upload the logo on Wikimedia Commons, here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ClimateWorks_Logo_2026.svg
Would you mind adding this to the infobox now? Thanks! TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 22:24, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
Done monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 23:48, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks, User:MSK! If you're around, I hope you'll be able to look at my future requests. TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 18:06, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

Requesting Organization addition and changes to Partnerships and donors

edit

Hi, this is another request that I'm making as an employee of ClimateWorks Foundation, acting on the organization's behalf.

For this request, I suggest adding a section that provides an overview of how the foundation is organized. I suggest keeping a short summary about leadership within this section and removing the overly detailed paragraph about past leadership from the History. I also suggest putting the section about donors as a subsection within this one. In short, the draft below includes:

  • A summary of how the foundation is organized and the geographic split of its work
  • Summary of leadership (allowing the details about leadership from the History to be cut, since they seem too in the weeds about those individuals’ past and future roles)
  • Moved the section about donors to be a subsection of this suggested new section
  • Retitled "Partnerships and donors" to "Donors and grantees"; the current content and my suggested update don't include any actual "partnerships", so it feels more accurate and less confusing to title this "Donors and grantees"
  • Rewritten content about donors, to summarize major donors
  • A paragraph summarizing regional grantees, which would replace the sentences about Greenpeace India (which feels more appropriate for that organization's article; the funding was not a major grant for ClimateWorks) and Energy Foundation and Green Tech, since that one is flagged as not having a reliable source, and is less recent

Could someone review the draft and make these changes? Let me know if I can answer any questions or help with anything. TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 17:48, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

Hi User:MSK, would you be willing to review this request too? Thanks! TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 22:24, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
Hello! A question, is ClimateWorks is organized as a non-profit foundation [...] intentional? If it isn't, then ClimateWorks is a non-profit foundation [...] is more grammatical. msk 22:40, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for replying so soon, User:MSK! Yes, it was intentional as a formal way to state that the foundation is officially registered as a non-profit, but either phrasing is fine. If you think it's better to say "is a non-profit" that works just as well. Do you have any other feedback about the request? TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 03:43, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
I think "is a non-profit" probably is enough, since the infobox and lead make it clear enough that ClimateWorks isn't some kind of unregistered non-profit (which iirc the guidelines disallows anyways). I'll hopefully finish reviewing and implementing your suggested edits tomorrow. Cheers! msk 04:03, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
Should be  Done. msk 19:52, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the review, User:MSK, it looks great! TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 23:36, 7 May 2026 (UTC)

Requesting History changes

edit

Hi, this is my next request that I'm making as an employee of ClimateWorks Foundation representing the organization.

For this new request, I suggest updating the History for a full summary of the organization. Right now, the History heavily focuses on the founders and gives a lot of weight to details that could be summarized or even trimmed. In short, the draft below:

  • Summarizes the founding history, removing the overly detailed explanation of the initial strategy
  • Removes the paragraph about two former leaders sourced from a press release and a profile page
  • Removes the sentence about a discussion at Climate Week in 2018 since this seems like a minor/non encyclopedic detail
  • Adds sources and details about the foundation's developments to present day

I've tried to keep this succinct to help reviewers. Please let me know if there are additional details I can share. TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 18:39, 20 May 2026 (UTC)

Hi there, User:MSK and thanks again for the help so far. Would you be able to review this update, too? Thanks in advance! TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 18:20, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
I'm a bit busy right now with other (some of it onwiki) stuff right now so I won't be able to fully review this in the near future, however some at first glance suggestions.
  • first 3 sentences are all about the founding of CW and are a bit redundant to each other
  • There might be too much detail on the Design to Win report, some of it could probably be trimmed
  • The sentence on criticism in the 2020s could probably be expanded to explain the explicit rationale behind the criticism.
  • The "By XXXX, the organization had _____ billion in grants" might do better moved to the donors and grantees section.
Cheers, msk 18:59, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick reply, User:MSK. I'll work on making some updates to the draft with this feedback and get back to you soon. Appreciate your help. TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 23:39, 28 May 2026 (UTC)

Thanks again for that initial feedback, User:MSK. Below is an updated version that:

  • Trims down the first few sentences to make it less repetitive
  • Reduce details about the Design to Win report. I had included more because of the article's current level of detail, but it's fine to briefly mention the report if you think that’s best.
  • Added a line to explain the 2020 critiques
  • Removed the sentences about the amount of grants awarded. Could this sentence be added to Donors and grantees? As of 2026, the foundation had made around $2 billion in grants to organizations and initiatives globally.[1]

Thanks! TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 19:18, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi again, User:MSK. A quick note here that I'll be reaching out to WikiProject Climate Change to see if anyone has time to review this. Your review is very welcome if you have the time, but understand if you're busy. TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 17:38, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
@TDM for ClimateWorks Thanks for going through the process, I have posted the update -- I removed a few sentences, that seem to put undo emphasis on initiatives or practices "specific to ClimeateWorks's self-identity". I did a couple of fact checks and links, but for future updates:
  • it would be great to have more external coverage if you have it, especially about the impact of specific programs.

Thank you, User:Sadads! All the changes you made make sense to me. I'll definitely keep your suggestion in mind for future updates, though I'm happy to see the page updated for now. Thanks for reviewing this. TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 21:03, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

Requesting introduction changes and infobox correction

edit

Hi, this is a new request that I'm making as an employee of ClimateWorks Foundation representing the organization.

Now that the rest of the article has been updated, I have a small correction for the infobox and I also suggest cleaning up the introduction and providing a straightforward overview of ClimateWorks Foundation.

For the infobox, as the History discusses and as confirmed by multiple sources, the founders of ClimateWorks are the three foundations: Hewlett Foundation, McKnight Foundation and Packard Foundation. Can the "founder" entry in the infobox be changed from Hal Harvey (who was the first CEO) to:

For the introduction, the draft below:

  • Removes the outdated sentence about the organization's mission, replacing it with a simple statement that the foundation focuses on climate change
  • Adds a sentence noting the organization's founders
  • Removes sentence about the 2016 listing as a Top 100 Charity by Forbes, as this is included in the History but doesn't seem important enough for the introduction
  • Removed the sentence about the Partner Circle, as while this is correct this doesn't feel important enough for the introduction and doesn't have an independent souce
  • Added a simple statement to note that ClimateWorks provides grants and support to other organizations
  • Added a sentence that notes the amount of grants given as of 2026

User:MSK or User:Sadads would either of you be able to review this request? Thanks! TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 17:50, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi User:MSK, sorry if you've already seen this, but I'm hoping that you might have time to review this as it's a smaller request? TDM for ClimateWorks (talk) 23:12, 7 July 2026 (UTC)

Suggested updates to El Especialito article

edit

Hello. I am requesting updates to the El Especialito article because several details appear to be outdated. I have a conflict of interest because I work with El Especialito / Ibarria Media Group, so I am not editing the article directly. I am asking an independent editor to review the proposed changes below. Suggested updates: Lead section Current text:

El Especialito is a free Spanish language weekly newspaper magazine, which was originally published under the name of El Especial in the 1980s and renamed in the 1990s. It was founded by Cuban American entrepreneur Antonio Ibarria and is distributed by United States Distributions Inc in northeastern New Jersey, New York City and Miami.

Requested replacement:

El Especialito is a free Spanish-language weekly newspaper serving Hispanic communities in New York and New Jersey. It is owned by Ibarria Media Group and was founded by Cuban American publisher Antonio Ibarria. The publication began as El Especial in 1985 and evolved into El Especialito in 1996.

Reason:

The current wording includes outdated distribution information, including Miami, and does not clearly explain the publication’s history. A 2024 NewsBeat feature published by the New York Press Association states that Antonio Ibarria became publisher of El Especial in 1985 and that the publication evolved into El Especialito in 1996. It also describes El Especialito as serving Spanish-language readers across the metropolitan New York region.

Sources:

NewsBeat, February 2024, “El Especialito’s American success story”
New York Daily News, October 30, 2016, “N.J. businessman, publisher of largest Spanish-language weekly newspaper, master of reinvention”

Distribution section Current text:

El Especialito is distributed to more than 5,500 yellow news racks in thirteen independent zones. With a weekly publication of 250,000 copies reaching more than one million readers, it the largest Hispanic weekly in the US.

Requested replacement:

El Especialito is distributed weekly through its yellow newspaper boxes and print editions in New York and New Jersey. As of 2024, the newspaper prints 230,000 copies each Friday. Its New York distribution includes the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan, while its New Jersey distribution includes Hudson, Passaic, Essex, Union, Middlesex and Bergen counties.

Reason:

The current text includes an outdated circulation figure and references Miami distribution, which is no longer current. The 2024 NewsBeat feature states that El Especialito prints 230,000 papers each Friday and circulates in New York City and northern New Jersey.

Source:

NewsBeat, February 2024, “El Especialito’s American success story”

Infobox circulation Current text:

270,000 (as of 2015)

Requested replacement:

230,000 weekly

Reason:

The current circulation number is outdated. A 2024 NewsBeat feature states that El Especialito prints 230,000 papers each Friday.

Source:

NewsBeat, February 2024, “El Especialito’s American success story”

Infobox circulation date Current text:

2015

Requested replacement:

2024

Reason:

The updated circulation figure is supported by the February 2024 NewsBeat feature.

Source:

NewsBeat, February 2024, “El Especialito’s American success story”

Infobox headquarters Current text:

3510 Bergenline Avenue, Union City, New Jersey

Requested replacement:

3711 Hudson Avenue, Union City, New Jersey 07087

Reason:

The listed headquarters address is outdated.

Source:

[Please insert a reliable source confirming the current address, such as the official company website, media kit, business listing, or audit document.]

Infobox website Current text:

elespecial.com

Requested replacement:

ElEspecialitoDigital.com

Reason:

El Especialito now maintains its digital presence through ElEspecialitoDigital.com.

Source:

[Please insert official website source.]

Miami distribution Requested change:

Remove references to Miami from the article.

Reason:

El Especialito no longer has a Miami edition or Miami distribution.

Source:

[Please insert a source if available. If no source is available, this can be reviewed as an outdated statement that is no longer supported by current sources.]

Employee count Current text:

El Especialito is part of Ibarria Media Group, which employs ninety employees.

Requested change:

Remove the employee count.

Reason:

The employee count appears outdated and is not necessary to the article’s summary.

Ownership and family business language Current text:

El Especialito is part of Ibarria Media Group, which employs ninety employees and operates as family business run by Ibarria and his two sons, Anthony and John.

Requested replacement:

El Especialito is owned by Ibarria Media Group. The publication remains associated with founder Antonio Ibarria and his sons, Anthony Ibarria and John Ibarria, who have held leadership roles in the company.

Reason:

This keeps the ownership and leadership information while removing the outdated employee count. The 2024 NewsBeat feature states that the newspaper is still run by Antonio Ibarria and his sons Anthony, general manager, and John, president.

Source:

NewsBeat, February 2024, “El Especialito’s American success story”

Suggested short description Requested short description:

Spanish-language weekly newspaper in New York and New Jersey

Reason:

The current short description should reflect the newspaper’s current geographic focus and publication type.

Suggested article wording for current operations Requested addition:

El Especialito publishes a weekly Spanish-language newspaper and maintains a digital news presence through ElEspecialitoDigital.com. Its coverage includes entertainment, lifestyle, health, sports, fashion, community resources and other features aimed at Hispanic readers in the New York and New Jersey area.

Reason:

This adds updated information about the publication’s print and digital presence in neutral language. The 2024 NewsBeat feature describes El Especialito as a full-color features publication covering celebrities, entertainment, lifestyle, health, sports, fashion and exercise.

NewsBeat, February 2024, “El Especialito’s American success story”

Thank you for reviewing this request. Because of my disclosed conflict of interest, I am requesting that an independent editor evaluate and make any appropriate changes. Adislaespecial (talk) 20:40, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Sourced accomplishment and career-context update

edit

I have a personal connection to Hérica Tibúrcio and am therefore requesting review rather than editing the article directly.

Please consider the following sourced updates:

1. In the "Championships and accomplishments" section, under "Invicta Fighting Championships", add:

    • 2014 Invicta FC Fan's Choice Upset of the Year vs. Michelle Waterson[1]

2. If editors think a short personal/career context sentence is appropriate, please consider adding the following after the paragraph about Tibúrcio's 2015 title defense: Tibúrcio returned to Invicta FC in 2020 after a three-year hiatus; Brazilian outlet Jornal Bragança Em Pauta reported that the break followed the birth of her son and identified her husband, fighter Bruno "Jacaré" Dias, as one of her trainers.[2] I am deliberately not proposing private details about children, ages, or family life beyond what has already been published by reliable sources and is relevant to her career. Follow-up with additional sourced material that may be useful for improving this article
Follow-up: additional sourced material (MMA Junkie, MMA Fighting, BJPenn, Combat Press, Invicta FC, MMARising, FightMatrix) to support article improvements
Additional sources for the title win
The Invicta FC 10 title win was covered extensively by major MMA outlets. These could support expanding the article's prose:
  • MMA Junkie: "Tiburcio upsets Waterson to claim atomweight title"[1]
  • MMA Fighting: "Herica Tiburcio stuns Michelle Waterson to win atomweight title"[2]
  • BJPenn.com: "Brazil Has A New Champ! Tiburcio Dethrones Waterson"[3]
  • Combat Press pre-fight profile with biographical details[4]
  • Invicta FC official results[5]
  • Invicta FC "Fighting Words" pre-fight interview[6]
Notable early opponent
The article lists the Cláudia Gadelha loss in the fight record but doesn't mention it in prose. MMARising.com covered the bout.[7] A brief mention that early opponents included future UFC title contender Gadelha would add useful context.
Move to Boston and UFC aspirations
In a January 2017 interview with MMA Fighting, Tibúrcio confirmed she had moved to Boston to train at Juniko Hanower and Sityodtong Boston, and expressed interest in regaining the Invicta title and potentially fighting in the UFC at strawweight.[8]
Historical ranking
FightMatrix's historical rankings show Tibúrcio was ranked as high as #2 Women's Atomweight in the world from January 2015 through January 2016.[9]
Fan's Choice Awards context
Per the Invicta FC awards page already cited in my original request, Tibúrcio was also a nominee for Fighter of the Year alongside Katja Kankaanpää, Tonya Evinger, and Roxanne Modafferi. The award went to Alexa Grasso.[10]

Follow-up: existing cross-linking context

For reviewer reference, Hérica Tibúrcio is already mentioned by name and wikilinked on multiple established Wikipedia articles, including Michelle Waterson-Gomez (prose and fight record), Cláudia Gadelha (prose and fight record), Ayaka Hamasaki (prose and fight record), Jinh Yu Frey (prose and fight record), Tessa Simpson, Simona Soukupova, and the main Invicta Fighting Championships article (listed as 3rd Atomweight Champion in the title lineage). She also appears on the List of current Invicta FC fighters. The proposed additions above would strengthen connections to these already-linked articles. Kevglynn (talk) 15:10, 1 May 2026 (UTC)

Official remix release

edit

Hello. I have a conflict of interest because I am the remixer/producer of the official remix mentioned below. I am therefore not editing the article directly and would like to request review by an uninvolved editor. I would like to propose adding neutral, sourced information about the official remix of “Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)”. Suggested text: “In [2026], an official remix of ‘Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)’ by [Al Päär] was released by [Iceberg Records].” Sources:

Request edit: Infobox and lead paragraph update

edit

I work in digital marketing for Hackett London (COI disclosed on my user page). I'd like to propose two corrections to the infobox and lead paragraph, both objective factual updates:

1. Ownership: The infobox currently lists M1 Group and L Capital Asia as owners. Hackett has been part of AWWG (formerly Pepe Jeans Group) since 2020. Source: FashionUnited.

2. Flagship store info: The infobox shows "160 stores as of June 2019," which is now a stale date reference. Proposing to update with current sourced figures, or remove the date qualifier.

3. Lead paragraph: Proposing an expanded lead that reflects the brand's current ownership and flagship location. Draft below:

"Hackett London is a British menswear brand and multi-channel retailer founded in 1983 by Jeremy Hackett and Ashley Lloyd-Jennings, specialising in tailoring, smart casual clothing, and accessories for men. Headquartered in London, the brand operates over 160 stores across more than 30 countries. Its flagship store is located at 14 Savile Row, London, a site previously occupied by fashion house Hardy Amies from 1946 until 2019. The brand is owned by AWWG (formerly the Pepe Jeans Group) and is positioned in the accessible luxury segment of British menswear."

Sources for verification:

  • Retail Gazette, "Hackett flagship to replace Hardy Amies on Savile Row," June 2019
  • AWWG official website, "About us" (awwg.com/about-us) — confirms Hackett is part of AWWG, owned by M1 Group, L Catterton and founder Carlos Ortega.

Happy to adjust based on feedback. Thank you for reviewing. Luis Manuel AWWG (talk) 09:44, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
