Hi MSK,

Regarding your closure, I think you made one error. You said Concerns have been raised if these lists are undue weight, however, quoting Danners430, whether these lists are appropriate has already been discussed at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)/Airport destination lists 2, and no consensus was found for their removal - so this is very much out of scope for this discussion.

However, as that close was "no consensus", it cannot be used to forestall other discussion of the same topic. BilledMammal (talk) 07:13, 30 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

it cannot be used to forestall other discussion of the same topic, however whether it is undue or not to include the list at all is not in the scope of the discussion, which is about the sourcing requirements if the list is included. Cheers! msk 16:15, 30 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Emeraldsparkk (11:17, 7 May 2026)

edit

Hello :) I was wondering how to fact check stuff and what sources you recommend using, or just any general tips?

Ty- Emeraldsparkk :) --Emeraldsparkk (talk) 11:17, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Finding citations for stuff really depends on the subject. If I were trying to look for sources for writing about a bird, I would search on Google Scholar for papers about that bird; however, if I were writing about, say, a restaurant, I would search on Google News. Rule of thumb, if the subject leans more academic, I would use an academic repository (like Google Scholar), and for more pop-culture oriented subjects, I would use Google News. msk 16:36, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Request on 17:16:23, 7 May 2026 for assistance on AfC submission by Avant Camera

edit

my submission was rejected by the reviewer because "This draft's references do not show that the subject meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. The draft requires multiple published secondary sources" my article cites multiple online resources (Including Smithsonian and Getty museums) that reference the book. I have also found multiple examples of wikipedia articles that contain little or no secondary sources or citations, which contradicts Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion for books. e.g https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twisted_Thing, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Xanadu_Talisman

I extensively researched my article and have provided citations to many credible sources on my subject and am a little confused at why many other book articles have been accepted without any citations at all.

@Avant Camera The museums don't count as significant coverage, and they may not be independent. See also WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS msk 17:50, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
That still doesn't explain how they were able to create the pages without going through the approval process? Does the approval rule only apply to certain users? Avant Camera (talk) 21:29, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Once you are autoconfirmed you can directly create articles without AfC, however they will not show up in search results until they have been reviewed by a new page patroller, or once the article is 90 days old. msk 21:36, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The book I'm writing about is a limited edition (500 Copies) and was published in 1937. As such it is extremely difficult to find online reviews or articles about this book, which is why I created the wikipage. Connell's work from this book is in a number of major collections, including Getty, Met, UCLA and the Smithsonian and he was admired writer and teacher of photography in California. I have provided multiple citations from these institutions that discuss the book in detail and just wanted clarification on why this isn't considered sufficient. edit

Hello MSK,

New Page Review queue November 2025 - May 2026

Backlog update

At the time of this message, there are 15,282 articles and 32,951 redirects awaiting review.

After the January–February drive the article backlog was reduced to 15,179 articles and the redirect backlog to 19,053 respectively. Great job! However, both queues are growing rapidly and any additional reviews are highly appreciated.

2024 and 2025 NPP Awards

JTtheOG was selected as the NPP reviewer of the year for both 2024 and 2025, for reviewing the most articles amongst all reviewers.

Hey man im josh and MPGuy2824 won the Redirect Ninja Master Award for 2024 and 2025 respectively, for reviewing the most redirects.

Overall in 2024, one Platinum, two Gold, eight Silver, 12 Bronze and 45 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 66 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year. In 2025, one Platinum, ten Silver, 13 Bronze and 38 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 38 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year.

BoyTheKingCanDance, Rosiestep, SunDawn, and Vanderwaalforces were inducted into the NPP Hall of Fame for having two separate years of 2,000+ article reviews.

January–February backlog drive

The experimental two-month long backlog drive concluded with 183 reviewers patrolling over 27,761 articles and 35,309 redirects, earning over 36,836 points. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 6,484.6 points in this drive.

May backlog drive

An article-only backlog drive is currently underway. We are hoping to make a big dent in the backlog. You can read more about it or join at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/May 2026.

PageTriage

An attempt was made to get the New Pages Feed to sort by date marked as reviewed instead of date created. However we had to revert it due to bugs. We may try again in the future. You can subscribe to the Phabricator ticket if you're interested in following along.

Draft:August aurelius raber — request for review

edit

hi MSK thanks for reviewing. can you tell me what specifically made you say it was AI? i looked at WP:G15 and the clear cut signs it lists are stuff like "here is your article" text, unfilled [birthdate] placeholders, or fake/dead citations. my draft doesnt have any of those. every source links to a real working article by a real journalist (Formula Scout, Auto Motor & Sport, Arab News etc). the policy also says the subjective signs alone arent enough to apply G15. so im trying to figure out what you actually saw. im new and i used Griffin Peebles and Alex Powells pages as templates which is probably why the format looks polished. if specific sentences read as AI i can rewrite them, i just need to know which ones. thanks Nismo33 Nismo33 (talk) 19:06, 21 May 2026 (UTC) Nismo33 (talk) 19:06, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think I figured it out. Please give me specific examples of bias you see in the article. I eliminated a number of adjectives, but everything else is supported with citations. Thanks. MedillMSJ (talk) 19:16, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Did you use AI to help you write that draft? Using AI to write new articles is prohibited. msk 19:21, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, I'm a professional journalist (two degrees, 40+ years experience), conducted the research, found the citations and wrote this original article. I recently attended Milano's memorial service and was inspired to create this page. MedillMSJ (talk) 19:26, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the quick answer. I'm going to be busy for the next hour or so, but after that, I'll try to provide some examples of bias in the article. While you wait, I recommend reading the policies on NPOV and NOTABILITY. msk 19:32, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Checking back in... MedillMSJ (talk) 21:46, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry about the delay, I forgot about this. Some examples:
  • helping save millions of lives this is probably subjective, and shouldn't be presented as fact
  • landmark HIV-discrimination lawsuit landmark is also a subjective descriptor.
The draft presents a lot of subjective opinions/descriptors as fact, which shouldn't be done with WikiVoice. msk 16:00, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I do not see "a lot of" subjective opinions/descriptors in the article.
I deleted "landmark," although, in terms of law, this suit WAS a landmark, meaning it set new precedent in ADA law that will allow other plaintiff's to sue and win under the same points of law.
He also DID help save millions of lives, as my citation pointed out. The Gore protest and subsequent change of the Clinton/U.S. policy towards generic AIDS drugs in Africa has saved an estimated 26 million lives to date. His work in AIDS education also has helped save countless lives - but I still deleted that.
If what is holding up this page is simply a list of adjectives that could easily be deleted, can you delete them, or at least ask me for the sources?
Thanks. MedillMSJ (talk) 16:38, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Gitalley (17:50, 26 May 2026)

edit

Howdy, What kinds of things should not have links? Is it common knowledge items? I just did my first and I left the 3 links. I tend to overthink things…any suggestions on how to focus on the right criteria? --Gitalley (talk) 17:50, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

The relevant guidelines are at MOS:LINK.
Some important excerpts:
An article is said to be underlinked if unlinked words are needed to aid understanding of the article. In general, links should be created for:
  • Relevant connections to the subject of another article that help readers understand the article more fully (see § An example article, below). This can include people, events, and topics that already have an article or that clearly deserve one, as long as the link is relevant to the article in question.
  • Articles with relevant information, for example: "see Fourier series for relevant background"
  • Articles explaining words of technical terms, jargon or slang expressions or phrases—but you could also give a concise definition instead of or in addition to a link. If there is no appropriate Wikipedia article, an interwikimedia link to Wiktionary could be used.
  • Proper names that are likely to be unfamiliar to readers
Examples of overlinking include:
  • Everyday words (e.g., education, violence, aircraft, river, animation)
  • Common occupations (e.g., accountant, politician, actor)
  • Common units of measurement, often those relating to time, temperature, length, area, or volume. If both non-metric and metric equivalents are given, as in 5 centimetres (2 in), usually neither unit needs to be linked, because almost all readers understand at least one of the units (see § Units of measurement that are not obscure, below).
  • Dates
Looking at your edit, everything looks fine - the link suggestion tool's recommendations usually align with the guidelines; all you really need to worry about is "is this suggested link what this article is talking about and not something else". msk 17:59, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Draft:C-Therm Technologies

edit

Hello,

Thank you for reviewing my article: Draft:C-Therm Technologies.

I understand that the draft did not meet the notability criteria; if you could elaborate on the reason why this draft did not meet this, that would be great. I realized that the references were predominantly from regional (New Brunswick) sources - is this the part of reason why the article was not deemed sufficiently notable?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Hotandcold4444 (talk) 19:31, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

There isn't much to say other than none of the sources are high-quality enough to show notability. There is nothing inherently wrong with regional sources, but in this case the NB govt. is not independent of C-Therm, as they have a vested interest in them. msk 19:35, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Dear MSK thanks for reviewing my new proposed article on Newbury Amateur Orchestral Union. You state that it is not supported by reliable sources. In fact it relies on an article published in "The Strad" in May 1933, a copy of which I recently obtained, and which I give as a reference. "The Strad" is the leading UK classical music magazine about string instruments, and was founded in 1890. It continues to be published monthly. I am surprised you do not regard this as sufficiently reliable.

If lack of reliable sources is your only objection, I do not understand your reasoning. I ask you to reconsider. David e cooper (talk) 17:30, 27 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Which source supports the text
After Eatwells death in 1893 conductorship was taken over by Mr. J.S. Liddle who also conducted the English Ladies Orchestra, and guest conductors included Sir Hubert Parry and Coleridge-Taylor (ibid). A prominent member of the Orchestra from 1885 was Dr Marian Arkwright, a pianist, composer, violist and double-bass player who conducted on some occasions. Later conductors included Mr. D.G.A. Fox and Mr. George Weldon. The orchestra was later renamed to the Newbury Symphony Orchestra and continues to hold concerts.
? Page numbers should be provided.
Also, the notability criteria requires multiple published secondary sources, you only provided one. msk 17:56, 27 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Dear MSK I note your comments and I believe I have now addressed them. I have added a second independent source, a piece from the Newbury Weekly News (a weekly local paper which has running since 1867 and continues). I hope this is sufficient for what is a brief article. David e cooper (talk) 11:49, 28 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question regarding recruitment for an open Reward Board request

edit

Hi MSK, I hope you are well.

I am seeking some brief guidance regarding the best way to connect with independent biographical creators within the community. I have a request listed on the Reward Board to draft a neutral, encyclopedic biography for a South African macro-economic commentator. Because I am a professional associate of the subject, I have explicitly declared my Conflict of Interest (COI) on-wiki and am strictly keeping my hands off the text to ensure full compliance with WP:BLP and WP:NPOV. I have compiled a clean, independent 7-source media dossier directly on the board.

As an active contributor to the Articles for Creation process, you have an incredible bird's-eye view of the community. Since I want to ensure this project is handled with total procedural transparency and strict adherence to content guidelines, could you kindly recommend a specific WikiProject noticeboard, working group, or a few reliable biographical editors whom I might approach directly to see if they have availability for this type of drafting work? Thank you so much for your time and for your dedication to keeping the encyclopedia's standards high. Debt Expert SA (talk) 07:23, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I would actually recommend you contact one of the companies listed here (e.g. Beutler Ink, Lumino, or EthicalWiki - be sure that they are listed under "Disclosed paid editing"), since the reward board is a lot less active than it seems. Hello MSK,

Thank you for reviewing the draft and for your time.

I would appreciate clarification regarding the notability assessment. My understanding of the rejection is that the subject was considered not to meet Wikipedia's inclusion criteria.

Since the earlier submissions, I have identified additional coverage from multiple independent national publications, including ThisDay, Punch, BusinessDay, Vanguard, The Nation, and The Sun. In particular, the ThisDay feature contains substantial biographical information about the subject's background, education, career development, and entrepreneurial activities rather than merely quoting him in connection with his company.

My intention is not to promote the subject but to understand whether the available sources are still considered insufficient for establishing notability under the General Notability Guideline. If so, I would be grateful if you could indicate what aspect of the sourcing remains inadequate so that I can improve the draft accordingly.

Thank you again for your time and guidance.

Kind regards, Adedapo Micheal Sunday

I have checked the sources, and the sources do not support you being notable - e.g, the ThisDay source is not independent and reads like it is AI-generated. msk 18:30, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank God you said it look like ai, something can look like ai and it’s not ai, you keep rejecting my draft, this is the second time even after adjustment and new additional publications added to it, sir, can you please kindly help me look at it carefully? None of my articles is Ai generated one, please help me to look into it… ~2026-31930-36 (talk) 19:22, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have looked into it, and you are not notable. That is why I rejected your draft. No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. By repeatedly resubmitting, you are wasting volunteer time. msk 19:26, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Since you said no amount of editing can overcome lack of notability, so what do you used to scale or to measure notability? Because I believe I am notable enough in this space of tech especially I. Nigeria and in United states… that’s why i appeal, if am not, I won’t even border to appeal and have seen some people who are not even notable or who didn’t even have much independent sources like I do and yet they get approved with their draft, so is there anything I am missing that’s why I message you so you can clarify me sir! ~2026-31930-36 (talk) 19:30, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Other stuff exists, that's not my problem. I am telling you that you are not notable, by the general notability guideline; if other drafts with worse sourcing were accepted, those were accepted erroneously. msk 19:39, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's well,
i just feel like some people are making it hard for other people to make it to this wikipidea but then, i won't give up...
Thank you very much for your time sir. MichealSunday2026 (talk) 23:05, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi MSK, thank you for reviewing my submission. I'd like know better why it is considered to be AI-generated for my future submission. Since the last declines, I have re-written the article manually without any LLM support. And I have re-read the [Signs of AI writing] guideline and cannot spot any issues with it.

Also, understand that a company page may sound like a promotion, but it is a topic of interest for Hong Kong people since the founder Adrian Cheng is a famous local businessman. If it's more an issue with independent sources, I'd appreciate your confirmation.

Clint Howard and Fred Price draft

edit

Hi MSK, thanks for asking directly. Yes, I used AI for the initial draft when I created this on 25 May. I was advised thereafter that this is inappropriate and have only done manual changes subsequently.

Since then I've revised the article substantially by hand, as the edit history from 26 May should show. I'm glad to do another pass if needed. Quietnotionist (talk) 16:00, 31 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello! You recently denied me creating a page for UF's Student Government due to notability. I beg to differ quite frankly. UF's Student Government is a state agency with over $22 million dollars in funding, and is one of the highest funded SG in the US. In addition, if an agency of the Student Government (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACCENT_Speakers_Bureau) and a building funded by the student government (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Florida_Southwest_Recreation_Center) both have enough notability, I would say that the SG itself does.

@MsChicanery Corporations have different notability requirements than buildings; see also WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS msk 17:31, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Cenotaph Park

edit

I'm not here to finger-wag, I'm just curious about your decline at Draft:Cenotaph Park. I see several typos, I don't think this is AI. What do you see in this article that I don't? MediaKyle (talk) 10:18, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Places with nationally protected status (e.g. protected areas, national heritage sites, **cultural heritage sites**) the markdown made me suspect AI, though I might be a bit too paranoid. msk 15:52, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
