ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

edit

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:38, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Ireland Wolfhounds when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 16:57, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Please include Template:div col end when making columns

edit

When you start a set of columns with {{div col}}, you must include {{div col end}} at the end of the list. When you edited this template, for example, you neglected to include Template:div col end. Other editors and I have fixed a few for you.

December 2025

edit

Your edits are becoming disruptive. You have been warned multiple times about the need to use preview to check your edits, yet you continue to introduce unknown parameters into articles. You did this again at 2025 T100 Triathlon World Tour when you modified the page, you once again did this. If you continue your disruptive editing, you may find yourself blocked from editing. Please take the time to review your edits moving forward. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 04:40, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

I didn't modify the page, I created it. If I added a single wrong paramater during that creation, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa, but the tone of your response is wildly unreasonable - I can hardly 'disrupt' a page I'm actually creating in the first place - there's no-one to disrupt. To threaten an edit block for something so petty, and in fact incorrect on your part, is wholly unacceptable. Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 04:54, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
This is the 3rd time you have been warned about using PREVIEW. The fact that you created the page is irrelevant. When you introduce errors, REPEATEDLY, into articles because of carelessness, you are by definition being disruptive. Had you bothered to respond, or even read, the previous 2 warnings about this issue we would not be here. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 05:01, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Do you know what the words 'define' and 'disruptive' actually mean? You can assert it all you like, but there has to be someone to disrupt to be disruptive. Again, I will attempt to not let this happen again, but I find your tone and attitude far more disruptive and unacceptable than anything I've done - at this stage I consider it bordering on WP:HA, and certainly a failure in WP:CIV, and i am not minded to tolerate it much further Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 05:38, 13 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Adding unreferenced text

edit

Hello, thanks for your edit to Irish Rugby Football Union. However, your edit added unsourced text to a paragraph which already contained a reference in it that didn't support the new information. Text–source integrity is vitally important on Wikipedia; any text added must correspond with its sources. Having said that, I've adjusted the article using text and a reference from the "Ireland's Call" page along the lines of your edit. Graham87 (talk) 05:44, 29 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved content from 3x3 basketball at the 2026 Commonwealth Games into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content (here or elsewhere), Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s).

When copying within Wikipedia, at a minimum, give attribution in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination.

Please add attribution if no one has done so yet. If you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. You copied over references from the 2022 page and did not remove or update the references cited on the 2026 page. You need to be more careful as obviously a 2022 reference cannot be used to cite a 2026 article. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 01:44, 17 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Netball at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 12:18, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

The section names are not 'bizarre', they are pretty obviously references to the two teams involved in each match by their CGF code - TONENG = Tonga v England etc. Using the CGF codes makes it easier to follow when placing the matches in the respective national Games pages, two of which YOU have now disrupted with the unnecessary edit/reversion.
If you can improve it, feel free, but simply hacking them out without even considering the effect on other pages is frankly vandalism. That you failed to understand the name convention and the reasons for it does not make that convention bizarre - similar conventions are used in other pages
Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 12:31, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Hello! Thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia, and in particular for adding references! However, adding a bare URL is not ideal, and exposes the reference to link rot. It is preferable to use proper citation templates when citing sources, including details such as title, author, date, and any other information necessary for a bibliographic citation. Here's an example of a full citation using the {{cite web}} template to cite a web page:

Lorem ipsum<ref>{{cite web |title=Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac |publisher=Canon Inc |work=Ask a Question |date=2022 |url=https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART174839 |access-date=2022-04-02}}</ref> dolor sit amet.

which displays inline in the running text of the article as:

Lorem ipsum[1] dolor sit amet.

and displays under References as:

  1. ^ Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac". Ask a Question. Canon Inc. 2022. Retrieved 2022-04-02.

If you've already added one or more bare URLs to an article, there are tools available to expand them into full citations: try the Citer tool, or in the wikitext editor, try the reFill tool, and in the Visual Editor, the reference dialog can convert some bare urls into a full citation. Once again, thanks for adding references to articles. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 14:29, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Weightlifting at the 2026 Commonwealth Games

edit

Hi, if you could replace the qualification tables in each weightlifting event article with the section heading from the Weightlifting at the 2026 Commonwealth Games – Qualification article that would be great. I suspect there will be changes to whose qualified, and thus its better to centralize the edits in one location. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 01:49, 30 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

No sweat, will get on to it. sorry about being snippy earlier - Tiredness! Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 09:24, 30 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good thanks. Any reason why you aren't linking the individual events in the tables of the nation articles? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 00:54, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also, if a country has 6 or less athletes in a sport, generally one results table is used instead of two separate ones. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 02:52, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Trying to get round to it methodically! And thanks for the heads up on 6 athletes, makes sense, I was mentally using 5 as a cut off Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 10:15, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring?

edit

You don't even have an active case against me, so what is your obsession with this? Watch out that things don't WP:BOOMERANG against you. – PeeJay 13:08, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Is that a threat? Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 15:08, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Grow up. – PeeJay 22:23, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Peejay, given your deplorable previous behaviour, evidenced by your extensive ban record, it's a legitimate question. Your casual insult to 'grow up' suggests you have STILL not learned your lesson from the previous 'retard' fiasco that almost got you a permaban. I suggest you learn that lesson real quick because patience with your aggressive outbursts is already thin with admins. You have very little if any 'good faith' credit left in the bank.Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 22:49, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
You're just making things up now. You were literally edit warring on my talk page. WP:BOOMERANG is something you need to be careful of. It's not a threat, it's a pointer that you seemed to need in spite of your holier-than-thou attitude. – PeeJay 00:14, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Don't try and gaslight me, Peejay. It won't work, and your willingness to mislead over your own entirely and easily provable history makes your bad faith on this all the clearer.
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=PeeJay&type=block
If you want to add to that deplorable list, you're going the right way about it.
Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 04:00, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've been trying to assume good faith from you, but that last message has me fully convinced that you're just baiting. I don't know what you want from this, but it feels like you just don't like someone challenging the way you've been editing the articles you work on and now you're trying to pluck what you think is low-hanging fruit. As I said, you need to grow up; this is just childish. – PeeJay 11:33, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I consider your behaviour vandalistic and destructive, not least with your childish retreat to the non-existent policy of WP:cruft which seems to amount to nothing more than enforcing your own subjective opinion of what's interesting or notable, often breaking the actual no three revert rule to do so. I really, really couldn't give a toss how constructive or good faith you find me, because I have less than zero belief in your good faith. I'm far from alone, clearly.
I remind you which one of us has the long history of being kicked off the site for their bad temper, edit warring, rudeness and baiting. If that's the route you are determined to go again, and it seems it is, I will be very happy to facilitate another such absence.Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 12:10, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
When challenged, I always welcome discussion. Meanwhile, you're showing no desire to collaborate, leaping directly to threats. God forbid anyone go against your internal model of what articles should look like. Your attitude here has brooked nothing more than a need for everyone to walk on eggshells around you. Have you even paid any attention to the number of fixes I've had to make to some of the articles you work on recently? You're not perfect, perhaps you should accept that and welcome a bit of help from someone who cares about this project as much as, and probably more than you do. If you disagree with something, speak to me, don't go running to Auntie Wiki. – PeeJay 13:14, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, when it comes to you, I absolutely will go 'running to Auntie Wiki' as you condescendingly put it. You don't welcome discussion, you mock, bully, sneer and threaten. You're a destructive and baleful influence on the site, which would be better off without you, period. And I'm done with your attempts to gaslight otherwise. If you keep it up, I will report you. Simple as.
Don't want that? Behave better.
I've had some useful collaberation with a number of genuine critics, for example recently on Commonwealth Games pages I realised a 'critic' had a really good genuine point, and attempted to meet it. I'm quite happy to collaberate even with those who want to change what I do for genuine and useful reasons.
You don't fall in that category - you charge around trying to bully people into submission with repeated bullshit like WP:Cruft and ignoring the three-revert-rule to enforce your own bizarrely sujective tastes. And when you don't get your way, you start tossing about words like retard. I won't tolerate that for one second more. And if forced to, I will report to auntie Wiki as I, not you, see fit
I repeat: Don't want that? Behave better.
At this point, I believe we have reached the end of any useful conversation, and I will remove further comments you leave on this page, unless I chose to report tham as WP:Harrassment.
