Mentoring matters (saying hi)
editHi! I just got a notification saying that you're my new mentor.
I'm quite new to the contributing side of Wikipedia, and it's a bit overwhelming... However, I do hope I will be able to contribute some day (especially corrections and translations).
Anyhow, I hope you're having a nice day! Mihrbeth (talk) 21:47, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Mihrbeth Hello! I'm doing well, I hope you are too. I can help answer any questions you have about editing Wikipedia, so please don't hesitate to ask! 🌀Hurricane Wind and Fire, why did you decline my draft? (talk) (contribs)🔥 23:10, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
Yangon United W.F.C.
editHello, I just updated the draft with a new source and revised the sentences as you suggested. Is it still not acceptable? These links are about Yangon United’s plans. Normally, in my country, there are very few websites, and most information is shared through social media. Also, one of the newspaper websites, Global New Light of Myanmar, was not accepted by Wikipedia. Do I still need to find more reliable sources?

- @ZyTun These sources appear to be good for notability, however since they belong to the same website we still need two other sources that satisfy WP:42. 🌀Hurricane Wind and Fire, why did you decline my draft? (talk) (contribs)🔥 13:43, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello,

i’m a brand new member of wikipedia. occasionally i see very inappropriate grammar or punctuation or vocabulary in English wiki articles. is it appropriate for someone like me to offer an edit in one of these rare instances? --Dejeau (talk) 11:14, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Dejeau Of course! You are encouraged to be bold and make a change whenever you feel it is needed. Everyone started out new and had little knowledge of editing Wikipedia, but if they never fixed mistakes or made additions the project never would've grown to this level. If you think a change may be controversial, suggest it on the article's talk page. 🌀Hurricane Wind and Fire, why did you decline my draft? (talk) (contribs)🔥 13:45, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
Hello! I would like to suggest an addition to a Wikipedia page on Egyptian Revival architecture. The example has its own page: the Temple Works flax mill in Holbeck, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. I haven't done any edits and would be happy if someone with more experience could take this on. --Gwynezzia (talk) 16:19, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Gwynezzia I am not knowledgeable in the subject so I cannot help myself, if you need help ask on the article's talk page or the WikiProject Yorkshire talk page where editors who know more about the subject can help. 🌀Hurricane Wind and Fire, why did you decline my draft? Question regarding redirect policy
editI’m a little confused by the AfC process. I encountered a red link to Mount Rwenzori (it had an extra U in line with older spellings) while doing new user edits. I read through WP:REDIRECT and provided evidence it should point to Rwenzori Mountains. Web searches confirm it’s an alternate name. The decline reason is that the alternate name isn’t mentioned in the article itself. That doesn’t seem to be the policy? MysticEon (talk) 21:59, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- @MysticEon I read through what seemed applicable (mainly WP:R#CRD) and I agree. While I often review full drafts of articles with AfC I have never reviewed at AfC/R. I suggest bringing this up on the reviewer's talk page and feel free to link to this conversation or mention me. 🌀Hurricane Wind and Fire, why did you decline my draft? Question from Ios18lovee (08:59, 27 May 2026)
editI want to be a admin --Ios18lovee (talk) 08:59, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Ios18lovee Becoming an admin requires years of experience. In a few years, if you have committed to and proven yourself as a highly trustworthy user on Wikipedia, you may apply. However, please do not rush to do so, submitting as soon as you are eligible will not improve your record at all and may even decrease your future chances of becoming an admin. For now, it's best to focus on making good quality edits than try to have high permission levels. Read Wikipedia:Administrators for more. 🌀Hurricane Wind and Fire, why did you decline my draft? - @Dafootballguy When I am on mobile devices AfC does not appear for me, unfortunately I do not believe it functions on mobile. I suggest asking at the AfC WikiProject talk page for confirmation. 🌀Hurricane Wind and Fire, why did you decline my draft? (talk) (contribs)🔥 13:05, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from The Bedfordshire Lieutenancy (09:14, 1 June 2026)
editHi, would you be able to advise us on the recent draft submission before we amend and resubmit for approval? --The Bedfordshire Lieutenancy (talk) 09:14, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
- @The Bedfordshire Lieutenancy On Draft:Susan Lousada, you need to follow WP:NPOV, especially do not engage with the subject while writing, for example you need to fix the second paragraph in the "Lieutenancy" section. Also, because this is a WP:BLP, you need to find a source for every statement. The "Early life and education" and "Honours, Patronages, and Appointments" sections do not have any sources. 🌀Hurricane Wind and Fire, why did you decline my draft? I noticed a WWU petition, what would happen should I sign? Would I just let Wikipedia lie fallow or would I still help with my mentees and the like? Thank you. --Dafootballguy | Want to talk? 21:43, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Dafootballguy If you're referring to Wikipedia:Wiki Workers United solidarity signing just expresses your supports the petition mentioned in the lead and will not change anything on your account. Good morning,
I am doing some work for my father, an accomplished jazz and classical pianist based in Upstate NY. I was asked to create a Wikipedia page for him, he has recorded over 29 albums of his own original compositions. A lot of his press attention took place in the early 90s, before the internet was a thing. I’m trying to get the ball rolling with a basic bio and links to some of his work, concerts + collaborations. How would you suggest I start this process?
I can send you links to his music if you like.
Thank you in advance for any help.
~ Hannah --Muse47 (talk) 16:22, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Muse47, First, read WP:COI, that is going to apply to you.
- New users are encouraged to use the article wizard to create a draft that is submitted for review to a group of experienced editors, a process known as articles for creation. However, since you have a conflict of interest, you are required to use the article wizard.
- When writing the draft, I suggest you read WP:MUSICBIO, WP:BLP, and WP:NPOV. These are some very helpful guidelines that will guide you in sourcing and how to write your draft and they must be followed or the draft will not be accepted. Side note, you can always make improvements to the draft after it is declined and then resubmit, decline (an issue that may be fixable) is different than reject (an issue that cannot be resolved, like an irrelevant/non-encyclopedic topic) Look at some existing musician biographies to get the roadmap laid out.
- You can use both online and offline sources as long as they are published under Wikipedia's definition. They can be behind paywalls, etc. See Help:Referencing for beginners for a look at citing sources.
- Don't be afraid to ask any questions or for clarification if you're not sure. 🌀Hurricane Wind and Fire, why did you decline my draft? (talk) (contribs)🔥 18:44, 8 June 2026 (UTC)

Question from Andrewcarroll9 (09:58, 15 June 2026)
editHello! I am wanting to make some changes to pages about cycling in the UK and in particular provide additional information about cycling in London. Would you be able to help me understand the best ways to make these changes and the style of writing which is correct to use. From my understanding I should keep everything as factual and neutral as possible. Additionally what is usually a good way to reference things? Thank you for any help. --Andrewcarroll9 (talk) 09:58, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Andrewcarroll9 Always write in a neutral point of view. Typically, we only write opinions if they are critical reviews from reliable sources. The preferred way to cite sources is by using inline citations, by adding a source no later than the end of the paragraph the information it supports is stated in. If you are using the source editor, there is a template (click the dropdown "Cite", then "Templates", and then choose which citation template best fits your source), but you can also just type it in like this:
- <ref>{{cite web |last1=Doe |first1=John |title=Oil going up (type title of source here) |url=https://example.com/ (paste URL here) |access-date=June 15, 2026 |website=example.com (website container here) |date=June 14, 2026 (date of publication)}}</ref>
- This typed in will display something like this.[1] For more detailed instructions, see Help:Introduction to referencing with Wiki Markup/1 and Help:Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor/1. 🌀Hurricane Wind and Fire, why did you decline my draft? (talk) (contribs)🔥 14:07, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
