DYK for -ussy

On 1 February 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article -ussy, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a donut has a donutussy? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/-ussy. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, -ussy), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

piri (singer)

I managed to get the piri to donate some images to Commons. I added it to Template:Did you know nominations/Piri (singer), as well as a more up to date hook. Any chance you could approve it? Launchballer 20:14, 11 February 2023 (UTC)

Two questions:
How 'adult' are hooks allowed to be? I managed to find a source that details exactly what she gets up to on OnlyFans, and I'm wondering if including it may make the hook even more interesting.
If not, as there are now plenty of sources for her having a single called updown, could you please add a green tick to ALT1?--Launchballer 14:08, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
@Launchballer: WP:CENSOR explicitly allows this content on Wikipedia, but I think in general, sexually explicit shock-value is discouraged. ALT1 is not cited in the article, so I was unable to approve it. AviationFreak💬 16:12, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

FA review for Li Rui

Hello! I nominated Li Rui for FA status, but the review is now at risk of being archived because there have not been many comments. Would you be willing to jump in and share your thoughts on the article? You previously were a reviewer for one of my other two FAs (Mary Jane Richardson Jones), which I really appreciated. Question from Baba Elle (01:20, 7 July 2023)

How do I add a photo to Albert Wren, M.P. Northwestern Ontario, Canada? --Baba Elle (talk) 01:20, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

@Baba Elle: Wikipedia stores most of its photos at Wikimedia Commons (if there is no photo of Wren currently on Commons, you can upload it here). Photos there must be copyright-free (this usually means you took it yourself, have permission from the photographer, or the photo is very old - The upload link above should contain a tutorial of sorts). Once the photo is on Commons, you can edit the Albert Wren article to add the image. In the infobox, there will be a parameter called image. Just add the name of the Commons file after the equals sign that follows the image parameter, save the edit, and the image should appear. If you have any trouble, just let me know. Johns Children page, a reply to your message….

Not exactly sure what need… BUT I’m a friend of Andy Ellison and am responsible for the plaque placed in Leatherhead about them and their club. My post refers to the video of the final, and comprehensive, talk about their Club, held last year. Wiki prevents the YouTube link but I then removed and merely made reference to finding it on YouTube! Ie search ‘Marc Bolan Bluesette’. 79.76.68.111 (talk) 14:04, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

Your edit to John's Children did not include a reliable source, which is generally required for a fact to be included in a Wikipedia article. Because no such source was provided (typically things like news organizations covering an item are used as sources), I reverted your edit. Typically, things like YouTube interviews are not of enough relevance to be included in an article. See WP:NOT. AviationFreak💬 14:11, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
Not sure how to overcome! Perhaps you could suggest? I’ve not put things on Wiki before! The video is of the public talk I delivered, and had filmed, from the research I had undertaken over several years about JC and their club in my town. The video has been placed to YouTube for posterity, and also on the related Facebook page. Does that help? 79.76.68.111 (talk) 14:21, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
Generally, we simply don't include that sort of content/information on articles. The video is likely not fit for inclusion on Wikipedia, but I would imagine those seeking it are still able to find it through the channels you've mentioned. AviationFreak💬 16:07, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

Antarctica

Many of the Antarctica short entries should be merged rather than deleted. Tagging them for deletion and spam messaging me is counterproductive. Please revert yourself and consider merging into neighbouring articles.. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:23, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

There is essentially no information to merge; all that exists on each article is the coordinates of the feature and the person who it is named after, neither of which are going to be worth including on a broader article. I do apologize for the spam and I was going back and forth on whether to leave you templates, but I ultimately figured it wouldn't be hard to remove and it'd be important if you wanted to easily de-prod. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/South B

Hello, AviationFreak,

As a NAC closer, please be careful with AFDs like this one that are not unanimous or near unanimous. NACs are not supposed to close "close-call" AFDs and while there were more people arguing to Keep this article than Delete, it did have a couple of editors stating they wanted to Delete this article. However, the one editor who might contest this closure is currently blocked so I do not think your closure will be contested.

My post here is not intended to discourage you from closing future discussions, I just want you to be careful as being dragged to Deletion Review has been one of the most unpleasant activities I've experienced in my 10 years on Wikipedia and I'd like to prevent other editors from having a case brought against them in this forum. Thank you for all of your contributions to the project. Liz Read! Talk! 05:10, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

Liz, thanks for the pointer - I'm very new to NACs so this advice is much appreciated. I felt that both the numerical majority and policy/sourcing argument (i.e., Sirfurboy and SportingFlyer's sources + GEOLAND) were stronger for the Keep !voters, but I'll keep the closure/DRV risk matrix closer to the front of my mind in the future and focus my closures on (more) unanimous discussions. Thanks again! AviationFreak💬 05:44, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

Rejected submission

Hi, I noticed you rejected my recent draft submission since it is very similar to an existing article. I wrote the draft as a improved and expanded version that would replace that one. @Ted Shackelford: I haven't looked at the two articles in detail to compare the differences, but I would suggest simply editing the existing article to add the items you have included in your Draft (but which do not currently exist in the article). AviationFreak💬 03:17, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

The MOS:LEADBOLD situation

Hey, AviationFreak. I've kept watch of the thread I started around a month ago about the bold lead links. It appears there has not been much progress on that recently. It seems you were interested in making a bot to deal with it. Is that something you still plan on doing? If not, should I try? I'm unsure about that last one because I'm unfamiliar with how bots work on Wikipedia and my programming skills will likely need improvement. ~UN6892 tc 03:07, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

Yes - This seems to be an ongoing issue. I have not been doing any work on the issue and I don't think I would be able to be much help between school starting back up and not having worked with WP bots before. This issue is particularly challenging because it centers on a prose issue (i.e., we're dealing with human-readable things here, not machine-readable things like categories) and it's unclear what the best way is to locate these issues when parsing the wikitext in a program. I've made a regex (in linked thread) that seems to work most of the time, but it's not perfect; I imagine that to fully solve this issue, a bot with code more complex than just a regex will be needed. If you'd like to give it a shot, by all means, do - it would make for good programming practice (if that's something you're looking for) and it's nigh-unto-impossible to actually damage the project in a nonreversible way if something goes wrong. On the other hand, it might not be a super easy project (all sorts of edge cases) and it could be worth contacting an editor who is more experienced with bot development. Either way, best of luck - remember that bringing up an issue doesn't put the onus on you to solve it (or have it solved at all), and there is WP:NODEADLINE. Question from We Are Subliminal (05:03, 4 September 2023)

hello, i want to know how to edit a biograpgy --We Are Subliminal (talk) 05:03, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

@We Are Subliminal: Help with editing of articles is given at the editing help page. Biographies in general don't have any special restrictions unless the person in question is living (or recently deceased). These restrictions, which mostly just require heavier use of inline citations, a lack of original research, and more stringent versions of other key policies, can be found at the policy on biographies of living people. Question from Justarandomguy174 (15:03, 16 September 2023)

Hi, I have a question.

Is "to consider" an opinion? Sorry, I'm not native and learning. --Justarandomguy174 (talk) 15:03, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

@Justarandomguy174: The verb "to consider" can be used in many ways, some of which can involve expressing opinions. For instance, "I consider Wikipedia to be a useful source of information" is an opinion. However, it can also be used as an imperative (for example, "Consider the following") or as a synonym to "realize" (for example, "You fail to consider that anyone can edit Wikipedia"), in addition to other possible uses. Best of luck learning the language, no need to apologize! AviationFreak💬 15:24, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

Greetings, AviationFreak. I am curious to know how you find un-copyrighted sources for Wikipedia. Thanks! --Moriarty49 (talk) 13:26, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

@Moriarty49: One important thing to remember is that copyright restrictions generally only apply for images. For that, there's plenty of freely-licensed images available on Wikimedia Commons. Sources for Wikipedia are often copyrighted, and one can avoid infringing on this copyright (or other intellectual property protections) by summarizing sources in your own words. More information on this is available at WP:CLOP. AviationFreak💬 14:15, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive

Hello AviationFreak:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 4400 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:23, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I was wondering how I put in a link... is it as simple as a copy-and-paste, or is there anything special I need to do? Thanks! --Moriarty49 (talk) 19:17, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

@Moriarty49: Welcome to the Wiki! Linking on Wikipedia has a couple of meanings - You can have wikilinks (like that one to our Graph theory article) or external links (that one goes to NASA's website). Wikilinks are inserted by placing the article's title in double square brackets like this: Article title, while external links consist of the URL inside single square brackets brackets. Question from ChuckPhil on Category:Novels set during the American Civil War (23:56, 15 November 2023)

Hello Aviation Freak. Novels Set During the American Civil War. I have contributed to wikipedia before but it’s been a couple of years and “improvements” must have been made. I want to add a novel that climaxes in the Civil War in Kentucky. My last contribution corrected the fleet’s sailing in 1940. The battleships, carriers and heavy cruisers sailed from San Pedro/Long Beach, not San Diego. Enuf. Your advice in navigating the current system. Thanks. --ChuckPhil (talk) 23:56, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

@ChuckPhil: If I'm understanding correctly, you'd like to add to the category found at Category:Novels set during the American Civil War. Since this is a category and not an article (rather a collection of articles), the way you would add an element involves actually modifying the article you'd like to add. If your article is, say, The Red Badge of Courage (which is, of course, already in the category, but I'm using it here as an example), you'd need to edit that article, scroll all the way to the bottom of the text in the source editor, and add the line "" - this would add the article to the category. Let me know if I misunderstood your question or if there's anything else I can help out with! AviationFreak💬 00:44, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Thank you in advance for helping me. I just created a user name and password. My name is Demetrius. I created my account in order to create a Wikipedia for a Musical Artist. I was experimenting with building her infobox within the Sandbox to see what it looked like to test my coding. It was deleted. Obviously, I need to be setup up properly before creating this Wikipedia. I also need to declare a COI. I took all of the photos on her album covers and except 2 albums. I thought I would upload all of the images, album covers (high resolution) first and then work on the article to connect to them. I need help with how to get started in the right direction. Any feedback you have, I am willing to learn.

These articles meet all general notability requirements for inclusion in Wikipedia and that they are separate languages with their Iso codes and reference codes and names. Here they are. They are also not redirects as Anomie bot and Rober Mclennon only added redirects based on similar names but they are totally different language articles that I have created with information verified and reliable. Here they are. Thank you. [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [] 2600:1700:2F01:CDC0:CDB:CEB6:91A7:23BB (talk) 16:59, 27 December 2023 (UTC)

Question from Baqir Muaayad (13:32, 30 December 2023)

How to make a perfect article ? --Baqir Muaayad (talk) 13:32, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

@Baqir Muaayad Wikipedia has a scale used to grade article quality. While it's unlikely that a particular article will ever be "perfect", you can learn more about this scale here. AviationFreak💬 15:09, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

Question from Damian Lew (20:38, 14 January 2024)

Hello, I'm curious on how to change the svg file on wiki commons? I have reverted a file to an earlier version, the png changed accordingly but the svg is still the same. Thank you --Damian Lew (talk) 20:38, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

@Damian Lew: I'm not quite sure what you mean. Is the file you mean to change stored as an SVG or a PNG? As far as I'm aware, Commons does not do any "on-the-fly" conversions between various filetypes; a single file will not be exported as both a PNG and SVG. I have also found that file changes on Commons (particularly with SVGs) just take a little while for changes to be reflected - that may be your issue. AviationFreak💬 20:46, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from Advancemom21 on Food Lion (11:59, 18 January 2024)

William ‘Bill’ Hefner was the founder. It was Hefners then they merged and it became Food Town then Food Lion. They gave wrong information. I know because I was younger when all this took place. --Advancemom21 (talk) 11:59, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

@Advancemom21: I'm assuming you're referencing the "History" section in the article for Food Lion. I did a brief look for sources stating Bill Hefner was the founder, and one of the only pieces I could find that mentioned a "Bill Hefner" and "Food Lion" together was this piece, which only talks about Hefner as a politician (i.e., not involved in Food Lion's leadership). If you can find reliable sources supporting your claim, I'd be happy to help you in incorporating them into the article on Food Lion. AviationFreak💬 16:16, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from NedScopMCC (03:33, 20 February 2024)

Hi, What type of citations are needed to correct a statement or information that is requested to be removed from a wikipedia article. The Council I work for has asked to remove a "Proposed amalgamation". How can I inform Wikipedia that the Proposed Amalgamation did not proceed and that it is noted. Thank you --NedScopMCC (talk) 03:33, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

@NedScopMCC: Hi! Taking a look at the article, it looks like the section you're referring to notes that the proposed amalgamation did not happen, and this decision was made >5yrs ago. The source for this claim, however, is dead, and it would be ideal to have a working source for that information (this would include repairing it if there's not a good current link with the claimed information). Once that's done, the best practice for an editor with a conflict of interest (which I see you've duly declared) would probably be to start a discussion on the article's Talk Page. Given the article's recent history, this would be the third step in the BRD process of achieving a decision on an article edit.
Sometimes, especially on smaller articles, these discussions don't get much action. If that's the case (i.e., nobody has responded) after a few weeks, it would likely be fine to make the deletion with a mention of the Talk Page discussion in the edit summary. Good on ya for declaring your COI and taking the right steps to do this properly; feel free to reach out if you have any other questions! AviationFreak💬 03:54, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks AviationFreak for you advise, really appreciate it. My first edit, didn't go to well. Given the moderators responses (see below) and the manner that the information needs to be verified. I would need to have a council resolution paper written and posted on an independent site to state so that the wikipedia article could refer to it as a citation, and then be assessed if that is sufficient evidence to delete the content from the article.
I understand the premise on ensuring the content is trusted. I'll leave it to the council to deal with as it is way more effort than it needs to be. Even though the article is over 5 years old, and the council operations have no intention to amalgamate,
Thanks for your help.
Below is the request to 331dot, providing context of the deletion.
As an officer of the council and noted in the change as well as on my user page CoI. I have addressed the requirements to request the change. The change has been requested by the Mayor of the City of Maitland CIty Council. NedScopMCC (talk) 01:58, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia does not care about the wishes of the Mayor. It cares about what has been written in reliable independent published sources. Maproom (talk) 08:18, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It wouldn't matter if Prime Minister Albanese or King Charles requested it. 331dot (talk) 08:33, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Quaker terms

Hello, AviationFreak. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Quaker terms".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

I was editing the page for Willy Puchner, when I noticed that there is no short description.

How do I add one?

Leuchar55 (talk) 00:33, 16 April 2024 (UTC)

@Leuchar55: There's a great tool called the Short Description Helper that you can use for this. The page linked there has a lot of info, but the basic idea is that you enable it in your preferences and then can edit/add short descriptions. As an aside, the Willy Puchner does have a short description: "Austrian photographer, artist, painter and author". Let me know if you have any other questions! Question from MikoDT (16:40, 24 April 2024)

how do I add an image to a table of contents, like List of governors of Nevada? --MikoDT (talk) 16:40, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

@MikoDT: I'm not sure exactly what you mean by a Table of Contents - If you're referring to the infobox, you can add an image by adding a filename to the |image= parameter. If you mean something like the images in the long table on the List of governors of Nevada article, you can use to add an image to a table (or anywhere else on an article). I'm not super clear on what you're asking, so if you have additional questions just let me know! AviationFreak💬 22:27, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

@RajiKL: The subject of an Articles for Creation draft, like any other Wikipedia article, needs to be notable. In the case of Draft:Panjab Radio, you'll want to take a look at the notability guideline for broadcast media. In this particular case, it seems your subject may be non-notable, and no amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. AviationFreak💬 13:05, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

Question from Damian Lew (18:26, 24 May 2024)

Hello, I made a move request recently and I'm pretty sure it qualifies for approval as there are two users in support of it and non against. The 7-day listing period has elapsed but the request was moved to WP:RMB instead of being resolved. Is there any way I can notify admins of it? --Damian Lew (talk) 18:26, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

@Damian Lew: As this falls under a few of the contentious topics on Wikipedia, I think it might be prudent to wait a bit more before closing a discussion; if there were, say, 10 unopposed supporting users at this point then I'd be well-convinced of consensus, but at this point there's no rush. In perhaps a few weeks, if the discussion has not been closed, I believe the closure requests page would be the right place to ask. Thanks for your contributions thus far, and thanks for reaching out - article moves and naming conventions aren't my strong suits by any means, but I'm always happy to help! AviationFreak💬 02:04, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
I know you're not an expert in this regard, but seeing that this is a time consuming process, is there a way to move an article to a specific title that is currently being used as a redirect without making a request? For obviously less contentious topics. Many thanks Damian Lew (talk) 02:29, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
I believe the most relevant information is in this section; it appears that non-admins have the technical ability "move over a redirect" with only a single line of page history. Anything more than that would seem to require a technical request. In the past, I've effectively "moved" pages that only had me in the edit history by copy-pasting the page's contents over a redirect with nontrivial edit history (and then requesting speedy deletion under criterion G7), but this is probably not best practice, especially if the page to be moved has any substantial editing history. Map for American Airlines Flight 320

Hi there, last year you added a map to the Paradise Airlines Flight 901A article that you'd created to show the flight path, using the CAB report as a source. I've been trying to wrap up the American Airlines Flight 320 article for a FA Nomination, and it could benefit from a similar map, showing the approach to LaGuardia over the East River. Any interest in trying to take on that kind of project again? Appendix B of the CAB report (page 27 of the PDF here) has a drawing, but it's not clear enough to try to integrate directly into the article. Thanks! RecycledPixels (talk) 20:25, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi RecycledPixels - thanks for reaching out! I'm always excited about this kind of work, but at the moment I'm unfortunately going to have to turn you down. This is mainly due to the fact that I can't find a good way to export an SVG of the NYC area that doesn't result in a massive file, causing Inkscape to become unusable for editing it. Obviously the on-ground details aren't a necessary part of this map, but I don't see an easy way to just export the land shapefiles with perhaps some light ground detail for context. This is made less solvable (for me) by the fact that I just started a new internship and haven't had much time for WP in general. If you're in a pinch for a map, putting a red line on a PNG export of the area from OpenStreetMaps would always work. Again, thanks for contacting me - this particular article is a tricky one, but if you have a need for similar maps in the future, I just might be able to help out. Best of luck! Question from RadzynMojeMiasto (07:19, 2 July 2024)

Hello! I will appreciate your help.

Can a documentary film with memories of older residents of the city, be an encyclopedic source?

15 years ago, a film was made with memories of old residents of my city about what the city looked like in the 1930s-80s. The film was released in an analog version, and was also shown at a local cinema. Today you can find it as a series on YouTube divided into 15 episodes.

The film contains photos, plans and materials from the National Archives, and I have no doubt that they are historical sources. My question, however, is about the recorded memories themselves. At one, a person recounts that the building (about which I am writing an article) was converted into a military casino during WWII. However, I can't find information about this anywhere. Is such information with a footnote to the film suitable for publication on Wikipedia? --RadzynMojeMiasto (talk) 07:19, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

@RadzynMojeMiasto: That's a good question! This is a question with a bit of a nuanced answer, but I think it's probably not a great source to use. I think it's reasonable to interpret the guideline on reliable sources as discounting something like anecdotes in a documentary interview. There is also an essay on interviews that may be tangentially relevant. Ultimately, I think perhaps the most relevant policy is what can be found here on primary sources. If you're able to incorporate the source into the article in a way that complies with these policies and guidelines, I think it'd be fine (maybe something with in-text attribution?), but I think that might be difficult to achieve. I know this can be a bit confusing, so don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions! AviationFreak💬 14:54, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from Krysler.m (16:18, 2 July 2024)

Hi! I’m trying to revise an edit from another editor, but after seeing revisions by other editors, it seems required to mention not only who’s edit you are revising, but also specifically what edit, using a long string of digits to denote it. Can you help me extract this string of digits from an edit? Thanks! --Krysler.m (talk) 16:18, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

@Krysler.m: Hi! In general, it's not necessary to mention an editor/edit when revising it. Simply editing the page will allow you to make any desired modifications (from your contribution history, it seems you know your way around this). What I imagine you're seeing is editors reverting edits by others, which is common when things like vandalism or unsourced claims are added. These edits are often made semi-automatically, using tools like the undo feature or Huggle. These tools (at least the Undo tool, and I believe Huggle as well) will automatically create an edit summary like "Undid revision 1234567890 by A_User_Name (talk)". It is not necessary to add this edit summary when manually editing a page. I hope I've answered your question - feel free to let me know if you have others! AviationFreak💬 15:02, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

Hi, I tried to post an article but it seems to have disappeared, I can't find it in any drafts. How do I know when the drafted article has been published/ how do I access it? I thought I posted it but it has now disappeared. --Cactusmooncat (talk) 20:21, 16 October 2024 (UTC)

@Cactusmooncat: Based on your contributions, it doesn't look like you made any edits before leaving this comment. However, I see that you've now submitted Draft:Janet Pomeroy. AviationFreak💬 17:33, 17 October 2024 (UTC)

Question from Andreascontent (15:47, 14 October 2024)

Hi there, I have just created a draft, thinking that this would be saved automatically. I didn't dare press "Publish". Any hints, how I can see the draft anywhere. Or was I supposed to press the "Publish" button? --Andreascontent (talk) 15:47, 14 October 2024 (UTC)

@Andreascontent: Hi! Based on your contributions, it doesn't look like you've saved a draft - i.e., it likely is not saved anywhere. If you're creating something in the draft namespace, there's absolutely no harm in pressing "Publish" - it'll just be saved in as a draft, not immediately accessible to readers in the "main" article namespace. AviationFreak💬 17:44, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for the quick response, that's what I thought after the page warned me that changes might be discarded if I leave. At least, I copied the content here offline. So back with this tomorrow. And probably more questions to you.
Thanks again! Andreascontent (talk) 19:34, 14 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi again,
I edited quite a lot on my entry about EOMAP today and was wondering, if you could have a look at all this. Perhaps you could give it a critical review and provide some feedback, where there is (most) room for improvement. That would be very helpful. Thanks! Andreascontent (talk) 18:17, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
I think the draft looks fairly good; just make sure you've familiarized yourself with the conflict of interest guidelines. Formatting-wise, I'd encourage you to look at similar articles and use the "edit source" function to see what kinds of wiki-code they use. AviationFreak💬 17:31, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. Will look into that tomorrow! Another user has made me aware of that, too. As you might have thought, I am working for that company, and I will of course make that transparent. There was some advice on the platform, that we'd rather have someone else write about "us". But I am realist enough to know that no one will ;-). - And I still find the text a bit edgy. I was using the References as a guiding thread, but have to put that together to something people enjoy reading more, I guess. 85.85.130.173 (talk) 19:31, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
@Andreascontent: Note that per this page, any paid editing performed (i.e., situations where the editor has a "close financial relationship" to the subject), must be declared on the editor's userpage. There are further requirements enumerated on the aforementioned page. AviationFreak💬 19:49, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
Hi again, I did some edits, have disclosed COI in my account.
Now, another user has recommended to put this into a draft section, rather than into my sandbox to enable checks by other users. Would you recommend that, too?
Thanks. Andreascontent (talk) 14:54, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
I don't see this other user's suggestion right off, but I assume they're referring to Articles for Creation, a process by which experienced users can leave comments on a draft and then either reject or accept it into the Article "mainspace" for readers to view. Note that rejected drafts can often be improved to a point for resubmission, but no amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. There are instructions here on submitting your sandbox draft; these AfC drafts can exist in either the "User" space (e.g., your sandbox) or the "Draft" space - moving the content from your sandbox to the draft space should not be necessary. Question from Informationappeared on Wikipedia:Teahouse (03:21, 8 December 2024)

Hello, I have a question. Is cia.gov a primary or secondary source? --Informationappeared (talk) 03:21, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

@Informationappeared: This is a great question! There's a lengthy and relatively recent discussion here on the reliability of the CIA; the general gist is that other reliable sources are almost always preferred, and sourcing from the CIA should be avoided in anyplace where the US government has a particular interest (i.e., treat as a primary source in these places). Documents like the the World Factbook are typically considered reliable secondary sources, but in cases where you're looking to cite less "polished" communications, there is more nuance and caution should be applied. Ultimately, it's not a cut-and-dry question, and you should consider the context in which you're citing (both the specific item you wish to cite and the article/claim you wish to apply it to). If you have a specific article/claim in mind, I'd be happy to provide further advice. AviationFreak💬 22:57, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

Question about Ted Kaczynski revision

Is there a reason you reverted my addition to Ted Kaczynski in the Life in Montana section? It just says ' Rv huff post-sourced addition'. The Huffington Post is listed as a reliable source. Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources

Chiffre01 (talk) 19:25, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

My apologies, I should've been more aware of the status of HuffPost - I was under the impression that the whole site was considered generally not reliable, not just politics content & some pre-2018 stuff. With that said though, I think the particular article at hand here is still not an FA-quality source. It's written by a person who was personally connected with the subject, and the article has a fairly editorialized tone. The specific claim, that "Kaczynski is known to have poisoned his neighbor's dogs", is not sufficiently supported (one dog is claimed to have been poisoned, and there is no real evidence of this in the article besides a single-sentence unsubstantiated claim - remember, the author here has a personal stake in the content). I'm skeptical of the reliability of these "HuffPost Personals" articles overall; they seem to have little editorial review, making them akin to WP:SPS. AviationFreak💬 22:29, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
I can include some other sources just to make sure everything is credible.
Here's a couple newspaper articles from the Missoulian (4th largest newspaper in Montana) with additional info about the dog thing, but with more details including evidence the FBI found and Kaczynski himself admitting he killed someone's dog. .
https://missoulian.com/ted-the-menace-and-killer/article_36a3e5b2-10b1-5e01-9edc-9047d68c658e.html
https://missoulian.com/kaczynski-blasts-unabomber-book/article_061cde39-ad8a-5dee-86b0-a2793ed92f16.html
I can add more sources about the rifle scope thing, but they are all interviews with the family referencing Kaczynski's journals. The NYTimes article already sourced, says the same thing but from an interview with a book author. Chiffre01 (talk) 13:57, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
The dog stuff seems reasonably well-sourced, I'd just change up your wording (the original formulation, Kaczynski is known to have poisoned his neighbor's dogs, is WP:WEASEL-y). The rifle thing seems poorly-substantiated if it only appears in interviews and the off-hand mention in the NYT Opinion piece. AviationFreak💬 00:39, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
Re-added the dog part with better working and additional sourcing. Chiffre01 (talk) 20:11, 19 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from TurboSuperA+ (12:20, 24 December 2024)

Hello. When Wikipedia "edit ribbon" suggests articles that it says need to be brought up to date, sometimes these articles are about things that no longer exist or are no longer in use, for example the []. The center has been closed in 1999, and demolished five months later, yet someone placed a "needs to be updated" notice on October 2024.

What kind of update is expected here? A new hospital was built in its place, I don't see how we can have further updates on a building/facility that no longer exists in any shape or form.

I removed the notice, but I'd just like confirmation that the notice is unnecessary for articles like these. --TurboSuperA+ (talk) 12:20, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

@TurboSuperA+: First of all, thanks for helping out in this area. This kind of tagging articles without sufficient explanation is a problem on-wiki, and I'd suggest asking the tagging editor on their talk page if their tagging is unclear. Ideally, if the problem is not unambiguously obvious, the tagger will leave an explanation in either the tag template or article talk page. In this particular case, I agree that the tag is not clear and seems odd. AviationFreak💬 19:35, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
Cool, thanks. I thought it was odd, as well. TurboSuperA+ (talk) 19:05, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from TurboSuperA+ (12:09, 23 January 2025)

I noticed that editors fail to archive live links on the Israel–Hamas_war article. How do I add a notice (or request one to be added) that reminds editors to archive live links? Ideally, it would be displayed with the other notices when one clicks the "Edit" button. --TurboSuperA+ () 12:09, 23 January 2025 (UTC)

There's not a policy that I'm aware of requiring editors to archive links in any scenario. I would strongly advise against adding an editnotice to that effect, both because (at least right now) I don't believe editors are compelled to do so, and there are already several editnotices in effect, contributing to banner blindness. There are bots that will run on a user's behalf to archive sources on a page (InternetArchiveBot comes to mind, but appears to only archive dead links - I believe there are bots that will do it for live ones too, but I can't find one at the moment). @Cameron Macaulay: Good question! This page has information on the kind of independent sources Wikipedia values. I will also note that the page you linked seems like it has some promotional aspects already, but part of improving that problem is not allowing new unreliable sources to be added. Question from A.H.M Badruddoza Khan (20:07, 7 April 2025)

How can I create wikipedia page on a prominent politician of my country --A.H.M Badruddoza Khan (talk) 20:07, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

@A.H.M Badruddoza Khan: Assuming the politician does not yet have a Wikipedia article, the first step is to check their notability using this guideline. If they pass that guideline, this page has information on writing an article. Let me know if you have any questions along the way! AviationFreak💬 20:17, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi, could you please share some methods to find articles? --Dennisaxim (talk) 10:54, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

@Dennisaxim If you mean Wikipedia articles, the website's search function is great. If you mean articles for sourcing Wikipedia articles, the "News" tab of Google often will have relevant results, but it depends on the type of topic you're interested in. AviationFreak💬 12:51, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Got it thanks.. Dennisaxim (talk) 06:32, 8 April 2025 (UTC)
Hi,
I’ve been working in the swimming industry for several years now and have developed deep knowledge about various swim brands, clubs, and companies that contribute to the sport. I recently attempted to create a Wikipedia page to share this information and highlight some of the key companies in the space.
However, my draft has been declined twice, and I’m not entirely sure what I’m doing wrong. I understand Wikipedia has strict guidelines for notability and reliable sourcing, and I want to make sure I'm following them correctly.
That’s why I’m reaching out to you—I’d really appreciate your help in reviewing my draft or guiding me on how to improve it. My goal is to contribute useful and verifiable information to the platform—not to promote, but to inform.
If you’re open to helping or can point me in the right direction, I’d be truly grateful.
Thanks in advance! Dennisaxim (talk) 05:09, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
@Dennisaxim: Hi - I see you've found some help at the Teahouse since leaving this message. I think it's worth adding the info/advice that Wikipedia generally tends to err on the side of not having articles on companies that are of borderline notability. There will be exceptions, of course - the 'pedia is a big place - but this helps to reinforce the idea that Wikipedia is not intended to serve as an advertising platform. This may not be at all why you're making this draft, but people attempting to get their company some recognition/legitimacy through a Wikipedia page is quite common. I know it sucks to have a draft rejected (I've been there before!), but let me know if there are any other questions you have about editing or the project in general. AviationFreak💬 04:19, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
@AviationFreak, Thank you for your reply. If possible, could you please share any tools that help determine whether a source is reliable? I sometimes struggle with evaluating the reliability of sources.
Also, if you don't mind, could you help me rewrite my draft according to Wikipedia's guidelines or share the steps that would help me publish it successfully? Dennisaxim (talk) 07:20, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
@Dennisaxim: I really like this page as a means of evaluating reliability for common sources. There's also a searchable source reliability discussion page that's linked there. As far as the draft, unfortunately no amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. If sources don't exist to show that the subject meets the notability guideline for corporations, there's nothing that can be done to publish it. AviationFreak💬 14:57, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks about being my mentor, at the moment I have only one question: could you explain me the Wikipedia's section called "Watchlist"? --Simona0802 (talk) 16:45, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

@Simona0802: Hi! There's a detailed explanation of the Watchlist function here, but the gist is that you can "watchlist" any page, and then when you visit your personal watchlist (at Special:Watchlist), you'll be able to see a list of the pages you've watchlisted which have had recent changes made to them. Hello, I wanted to know how do I pair references from the same source, so as to not crowd the references? --AkEd21 (talk) 03:44, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

@AkEd21: Hi! This is a great question - This section has a detailed explanation. Essentially, in the . After you've used that, you can then later invoke that same reference using the name: (claim). Let me know if you have any other questions! AviationFreak💬 15:55, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Jovani47 (04:28, 7 May 2025)

Hello! I'm new to this and still figuring out the ropes, but in some of the articles that are suggested for me to edit (specifically ones with biased tone/language), it isn't quite clear where the specific biased sections are. When an article gets marked as having that bias, are the particular sections marked, or is it more of an 'article wide' mark that it gets? --Jovani47 (talk) 04:28, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

@Jovani47: Welcome to the project! I suspect most of what you're seeing will be tagged "article-wide", but I don't know the specifics of how the suggested edits feature works. If a tag is placed at the top of a specific section, it indicates problems with that specific section - a tag at the top of the article is more vague, but typically covers most/all of the article. The best place to check for clarification would be on the article's talk page (it's good courtesy to leave a rationale there for tagging as opposed to WP:DRIVEBY tagging), but frankly that's rare - there may also be a rationale in the edit summary where the tagging user added the tag. If you're confident that there isn't any significant bias on the page, feel free to remove the tag, but do leave an explanatory edit summary. Otherwise, it's not unreasonable to contact the tagging user on their talk page, especially if the tag placement was within the past few months. Hope this helps, let me know if you have other questions! AviationFreak💬 05:08, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Kohenmccann5 (20:51, 12 May 2025)

Hello! I was wanting to make a page for somebody I know, he is a young curler from a small town in New Brunswick Canada and I’ve often heard him mention how everybody knows his father, but he’s generally unknown despite wanting to get his name out there to grow his amateur (or possibly professional) curling career. I thought it would be a nice idea for me to make a page for him, as it’s strangely enough something he’s wanted for a long time hahaha. I just want to make sure that the page is objective, and valid under wikipedias guidelines. And I was hoping you’d be able to give me a few tips on certain vocabulary to use, or more specifically, which NOT to use. If you could get back to me with some tips, it would be greatly appreciated!! --Kohenmccann5 (talk) 20:51, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

@Kohenmccann5: Welcome to Wikipedia! As far as your question, the relevant guideline in terms of language to use/avoid so that the article isn't overly promotional would be found here. In addition, I think you ought to read our guideline on the notability of sportspeople, and especially the subsection on curling. If the curler in question doesn't meet that guideline (i.e., hasn't won a national-level curling tournament), it's extremely unlikely that they would be considered notable enough to warrant a Wikipedia article at this point. Of course it may be that later in life they do ultimately qualify by winning one of these tournaments, but until then, Wikipedia's guidelines would consider them not notable enough for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Your generosity is admirable, but at this point it seems unlikely that they're eligible for an article - if you have any further questions about this or about editing Wikipedia in general, please don't hesitate to let me know! AviationFreak💬 21:22, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
They have won a silver medal at a junior national tournament and has played in 2 briers with his father, do they have to win gold to qualify? Kohenmccann5 (talk) 21:55, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
I'm not super well-versed in the intricacies of curling, but from what the guideline says, it looks like taking any medal at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships would be sufficient. If that's the junior national tournament you're referring to, you should be good to go! If that's the case, this page has instructions for creating your first article. It's important to note that you have a conflict of interest with the subject, so it'll be necessary to submit through the Articles for Creation process. AviationFreak💬 22:04, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

@Bappikar0: Assuming you mean earn money, this is difficult - essentially the only way to do it would be to have a third party pay you to edit (typically a corporate article), but this has lots of restrictions as it creates a financial conflict of interest. Wikipedia tends to work better when folks edit as volunteers, since this reduces POV-pushing. AviationFreak💬 23:53, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

@Shawnnickell It's included in the submission - the current (i.e., most recent) version of the page will be reviewed. AviationFreak💬 13:43, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
I had a submittal in May and it was rejected for several reasons which I believe I have fixed. I then thought that I should "resubmit" and submitted the page again. I received a "This appears to be a duplicate of another submission" response. I have not received any updates/notifications since 6/17. Does my page get evaluated again after I make changes? Is there a queue that I can see for its progress?
Thank you in advance. Shawnnickell (talk) 15:26, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
@Shawnnickell: There are currently two versions of the draft: one lives at User:Shawnnickell/sandbox (it looks to me like this is the updated version), and one is at Draft:Florida Medal of Honor Memorial. To keep things less confusing we only ever consider one version of a draft article - in this case that's the one at Draft:Florida Medal of Honor Memorial (see DoubleGrazing's comment on the sandbox draft). First, I would copy the wikitext from your sandbox to the other draft, being careful not to remove the Articles for Creation templates at the top. After saving, click the blue "Resubmit" button to submit the draft for review - currently, neither draft is in the pool to be reviewed. Let me know if you have any questions! Question from OliviaRigby (16:31, 12 July 2025)

Hello AviatonFreak!! I am wondering if a section of a specific page (I.e. Elisabeth Amalie of Austria) that does not cite any sources (via any citations) would require the tag indicating the lack of inline citations, or, the tag indicating that the section does not cite any sources. I hope this is clear enough for you to understand, and thank you. --OliviaRigby (talk) 16:31, 12 July 2025 (UTC)

@OliviaRigby: This would depend on whether the article itself contains a source that could presumably be used to support the claims made in that section: the first template you mention is used to say "this article has good sources listed, but it's unclear which claims are supported by which sources." The second one is more useful in cases where there is a section that doesn't have clear support from any of the listed references. I hope this answers your question! Hello @AviationFreak Reaching out as I am eager to learn and contribute more effectively to Wikipedia, and I appreciate your support as my assigned mentor.

I have 2 topics. a) My original account (@Nitroklaus is over 10 years old. But I moved to the Philippines and here I seem to be in a IP range which is blocked. So, I am not able to get my password resetted and can't access my account. I made a unblock request but I guess this will take some time.

b) I have created hence a new account since I really need to set up some pages which are dearly missing. I am working on Ocean Literacy and Ocean Empathy and I am in the group of experts with the United Nations Ocean Decade: Ocean Expert Profile or see one of my talks here August-2024-Webinar-Highlights-Questions-and-Answers-with-Nik-Metaxa-Schwarten-v1.pdf.

I have written (with the help of ChatGPT since I am not native English speaker) the page for Ocean Literacy. But it got rejected bcs. of ChatGPT. Now: I have reviewed of course word by word the content and it is perfectly fine. How can I get this content published (we have to publish quite a few pages about that topic in general and some special (Ocean Literacy is one part of the United Nations Ocean Decade Ocean Decade – The Science We Need For The Ocean We Want. @Proud.ph Hi! I'm not familiar with the process for the issue you lay out in (a) - it seems like you have a handle on the situation though, and I can dig a bit deeper into it if you run into issues. As far as the ChatGPT issue, I'd encourage you to read WP:LLM: for a laundry list of reasons, using Large Language Models to write Wikipedia articles is inadvisable and discouraged.
If you are facing a language barrier, I might suggest visiting a relevant WikiProject and asking for assistance. Best of luck, let me know if you have any other questions! AviationFreak💬 08:18, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Question from OliviaRigby (04:10, 14 August 2025)

Hello again!!! I'd like to ask you about participating in talks. I recently began a discussion about the name of an article, but I am not sure if it has come to an end, as only one person has responded, as of yet. Would you know if that would mean it was over if my idea was rejected, or should I wait for more people to reply? And if it is over, what must I do about that? Thank you in advance, --OliviaRigby (talk) 04:10, 14 August 2025 (UTC)

@OliviaRigby Hi! I'm currently away from a computer and can't work as well on mobile, so I'm not able to actually view the discussion you're referring to - If it's been less than a few weeks, I'd leave it, but if the discussion has been open for awhile and no opposition has been voiced, I'd recommend being WP:BOLD and moving it. I'll be away for another week or so; if you have further questions give a shout to the WP:TEAHOUSE! AviationFreak💬 08:33, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

Question from RASA Dave (20:56, 16 August 2025)

Hey AviationFreak: I am totally new to this and have a question or two.

I not only used to own controlling interest in Electrocon, Inc., the original owner of WXIL radio in Parkersburg, WV (now assigned to Elizabeth, WV), I had the original channel 236B assigned to Parkersburg, WV. It took me close to five years to accomplish. The station went on the air on November 28, 1975 and I sold it to Burbach Broadcasting on September 10, 1980. I managed the station and programmed it as well; although I did hire a Program Director. I am writing to you because the Wikipedia listing for WXIL radio has a number or errors that I would like to correct. I would also like to add information from the era that I had control of the station. See: www.dastrock.com and www. reelradio.com/wxil. Please advise when you have a chance.

Thank you. --RASA Dave (talk) 20:56, 16 August 2025 (UTC)

@RASA Dave Hi, and welcome! I'm away for a bit and won't be able to do much work directly, but I can point you to the relevant policies/guidelines to get you started - This page is an introduction to sourcing, and this one talks about Wikipedia's standards for reliability. In this case where you're personally connected to the topic, please make sure to abide by the conflict of interest and original research policies. AviationFreak💬 08:38, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

Question from Limtsui (06:30, 17 August 2025)

Hello, what are the parameters regarding what can be placed in the info box's "results" section. My understanding is that I am not allowed to state the result in unclear terms like "pyrrhic victory" or "strategic defeat"/"tactical defeat". --Limtsui (talk) 06:30, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

@Limtsui Hi! Template: Infobox military conflict provides an answer: The results parameter should contain either "X victory" or "Inconclusive", and is an optional parameter. The page indicates that nonstandard terminology like "decisive" (or, I'd imagine, "pyrrhic", "tactical", etc.) should not be used. AviationFreak💬 08:42, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

Hi! I am new to Wikipedia and I’d love your guidance. I am affiliated with OTC Markets Group and notices that the current Wikipedia page contains outdated and incorrect information. Question from Cheddarsworth (03:05, 7 September 2025)

Hello! I have an image I think would be appropriate to add to an article, but it comes from a still of a livestream on YouTube (the livestream is run by the organizers of GalaCon). Would Wikipedia have the rights to include such media, and if not could I somehow get said organizers to approve and cooperate in such a way to allow its use. Admittedly I'm not fully aware how to embed said media yet but first things first I want to get matters of usage rights squared away. Thank you very much! --Cheddarsworth (talk) 03:05, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

@Cheddarsworth: Hi! There are a few questions that come up here. The first is the question of copyright. Generally, if an image is copyrighted (this is presumed on YouTube, though creators can specify a license in the video's description), it cannot appear on Wikipedia. An exception is fair use: essentially, if the image/subject is something the article discusses (e.g., in an article like this one that specifically discusses an art piece), copyright law allows for that image to be shown in places where the authors do not have the rights to it. If an image is not copyrighted (this typically requires the author expressly tagging it as being licensed under Creative Commons, a lot of time having passed since its creation, or something else), it can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and included in Wikipedia from there. This is an area where law and Wikipedia policy come together in a way that is rarely straightforward. I suspect the answer to your specific question is "no, unless the authors are willing to use a special license for their work". Let me know if you have any questions!! AviationFreak💬 18:51, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
If you could convince GalaCon to explicitly tag it as being licensed under the Creative Commons license in the description of the livestream video, that should be sufficient for inclusion on Wikipedia. GregariousMadness (talk to me!) 20:25, 8 September 2025 (UTC)

Question from Crispnews (04:57, 9 September 2025)

Hi @AviationFreak!

Just to confirm — when I ask a question here, does it get publicly posted under my username 'Crispnews' on your talk page so you can reply? Also, I’m working on adding a new page for Newsful.ai, a financial news summarization platform focused on daily market prep and auction-based insights. I’d love your thoughts on whether it meets the notability requirements, and any tips for drafting or sourcing would be really helpful! --Crispnews (talk) 04:57, 9 September 2025 (UTC)

@Crispnews: Yes, your name shows up on my talk page as "Crispnews". I don't have a ton of time to investigate the notability question at the moment, but the relevant guideline would be at this page. In terms of sourcing tips, find what you can using your search engine, but there's likely not much else (e.g., books) on something this new and niche. I'd also strongly recommend looking over our conflict of interest policy if relevant. AviationFreak💬 16:31, 9 September 2025 (UTC)

@Sharon E Weed: This may be difficult to do per WP:LISTCRIT; it's not clear to me how one would determine inclusion criteria for this sort of list. This is not to say that there aren't lists with fuzzy inclusion criteria on Wikipedia, but something to keep in mind. The process here would involve creating a new article through this guide and formatting it as a list - let me know if you have any other questions! AviationFreak💬 14:27, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
There are articles online from reputable sources which detail this famous person's premature obits, so they is well-documented.

Pomona Football Club article

Hi, I'm trying to get my article approved. Would you be able to tell me where I am going wrong with referencing? I assumed it was just linking the site of the information which I thought I had done. BayHarborButcher1 (talk) 03:24, 2 October 2025 (UTC)

@BayHarborButcher1: From a quick glance, it looks like most of the sourcing on your draft is pulled from The Courier-Mail, which is a tabloid and therefore of questionable reliability, and the AFL Queensland website itself, which is not a independent source. See the general notability guideline for a full outline of the requirements for notability, and let me know if you have other questions! AviationFreak💬 05:49, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
Just lost on that though cos looking at every other local football team they all have the same sources but they're published BayHarborButcher1 (talk) 23:30, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
It's worth reading this section - the existence of similar articles doesn't make any given subject notable. I'll also point out that none of the three different opponents listed under the "Grand Finals" section of your draft have articles. The level at which a sports team competes is generally the largest factor in its notability, as this will drive sources being created about it. AviationFreak💬 03:22, 7 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from MaeLovesBread (21:13, 11 October 2025)

looking to fix come citation needed stuff on an article and think i have it figured out (both the sources and how to edit it), but some tutorial articles mentioned a draft. will "Publish changes" submit it for review or make it live instantly and how do i avoid the second (in case i f-ed up, yknow) --MaeLovesBread (talk) 21:13, 11 October 2025 (UTC)

@MaeLovesBread: Yes, "publish changes" will make your changes live instantly. At least in the Source Editor, there's a "show preview" option that will allow you to see what the article would look like with your changes applied (but does not actually update the page - if you scroll to the bottom when previewing, you'll see the option to publish changes). A draft is a separate thing - drafts are pages that can be created/edited to workshop an article over time before actually publishing it. AviationFreak💬 01:56, 12 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from OliviaRigby (07:05, 18 October 2025)

Hello, I hope you are doing well. It has been a while, but I have a question regarding what should be done for an article (if you're wondering, it is Stanisław Poniatowski (1676–1762)) that is listed as good but relies too heavily on a single source. I feel it may not meet good article criteria, and when I view it when it was promoted (2012 I believe), it seems like it NEVER should have been promoted. So, I was wondering, what steps should I take with this? Would a maintenance template be appropriate first or should I discuss this on the talk page? Is there anything else I should know about this issue? Apologies if I overload you, but thank you. --OliviaRigby (talk) 07:05, 18 October 2025 (UTC)

@OliviaRigby: You're not overloading me - I'm here to help :)
The article in question is pretty reliant on that one source indeed, but given that the source is a very in-depth biography which is quite likely to be reliable, I don't personally see it as a huge issue. There are other sources cited where applicable, but I can see where your concern comes from - I don't want to dismiss your worry, because I do think it's possible this is something that can/should be addressed. I think a talk page message would be warranted to see what others think, and if you're concerned about the GA status then the relevant place to bring it up would be WP:GAR. It seems the GA-nominating editor, Piotrus is still regularly active as well - it could be worth speaking to them about it. Let me know if there's anything else I can help out with! AviationFreak💬 01:29, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
Okay. If it does seem like the one source is reliable and there may be no problem, would it be okay just to let it be for now? It does indeed meet all other criteria and I don't feel anything could be seen as dubious, it is well written. It seems good enough. So, again, would it be okay just to let it sit? Apologies if this seems a bit rushed, but I am currently preoccupied. Thank you, OliviaRigby (talk) 00:25, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
For sure! You're generally not obligated to do any work on Wikipedia, and you haven't started any formal process here so there's nothing to worry about. There is no deadline, see also WP:VOLUNTEER. AviationFreak💬 00:55, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

Hey! I just wanted to say that your user page is super cute and super impressive! I didn't even know Wikipedia had awards haha. I'm super excited to have been assigned a mentor (I didn't know they did that) and you seem super sweet! I also had one mini question: on the article for Fromis_9, I noticed that the entire article refers to them as Fromis 9 instead of fromis_9 (or Fromis_9) with the underscore, which as far as I know, has been part of their name stylization since debut and has yet to be removed. Is that a choice purely for ease of reading or should I be changing it to include the underscore? Thanks in advance! Azshiyi (talk) 19:39, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

@Azshiyi: Hi! :) I'm flattered to hear your thoughts on my userpage, and I'm excited to help out! There's a guideline on this here - Wikipedia avoids stylizing names of artists. The relevant bit of the guideline is surprisingly short, so I can't offer any justification for sure, but my suspicion is that this has to do both with readability and keeping articles relatively uniform. Let me know if there's anything else I can help out with! AviationFreak💬 03:34, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
p yess of course I seriously love it! need to figure out how to make mine all cutesy too....but yes regarding the fromis_9 thing that's what I thought was going on (readability edits). It's really interesting to have been using Wikipedia for so many years and finally seeing the backend of things. I have a **Conflict of Interest** as I am the subject of this article. I am requesting updates to ensure accuracy and completeness, based on reliable sources.

I sent a draft to the "talk section" of my account for this wiki entry and was wondering how to get it published.

Summary of changes

  • Update lead to reflect current position (Laurence F. Whittemore Professor of Business Administration; Professor of Finance at Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College).
  • Add details on research areas (corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, NLP and AI in finance).
  • Include institutional roles (faculty advisor at Center for Private Equity and Venture Capital; NBER research associate; visiting appointments).
  • Add structured sections: Early life and education, Academic career, Research.
  • Add a **Selected publications list (2000–2025)** with citations.

Question from OliviaRigby (04:36, 11 November 2025)

Hello. I found an article (biography) on somebody I don't believe is very notable, and I don't think it should be here on Wikipedia. It mainly states that this person simply existed, with no information that couldn't be found anywhere else. All it is about is a short lived child of a prominent 18th century figure, not uncommon for children to die young during that time; it also seems to have less than sufficient reliable sources to establish notability. See the article titled "Maria Elisabetta Carlotta of Savoy" to see it for yourself, recently edited by myself. I want to see what you think, since I am unsure of beginning a discussion surrounding that first. I've also just realized that I post unusually long questions here, so thank you for answering my absurdly long questions! <3 --OliviaRigby (talk) 04:36, 11 November 2025 (UTC)

Good question, happy to answer it! :) From looking at Maria Elisabetta Carlotta of Savoy, the claim to notability seems to lie in her having been a Princess of Savoy. I'm not familiar with how notability guidelines apply here (I don't see any WP:NROYAL, so presumably WP:GNG applies?), but I suspect arguments from people who are pro-keeping the article would focus on the fact that holders of some titles (especially rulers) are generally notable. I don't know how far this extends (i.e., how far do you have to be from the throne before you're nonnotable), but we do have quite a few articles on Princesses of Savoy. This is a case where I'm genuinely not sure how notable the person is. I'd recommend a WP:BEFORE check, looking at any deletion discussions on similar articles you can find, and going from there. I don't think opening a deletion discussion here would be unreasonable, but I'm also not sure how it would end up. Let me know if you have any other questions! AviationFreak💬 04:51, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for trying your best to help. Thank you for recommending I look at deletion discussions to similar articles, because I actually knew of a few beforehand. All of them regard children aged five or under, all of whom were the children of ruling monarchs. They seem to have died too soon to do anything noteworthy? So I think it would be worth trying. Thank you for suggesting looking through those old discussions. So I just nominate for deletion now? OliviaRigby (talk) 04:10, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
Yep, that would be the next step! AviationFreak💬 17:30, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
Okay. I did that, but I reverted since I couldn't figure out how to create the discussion. I read this page, followed the instructions, but I was stuck when it came to creating the discussion. I tried to create the discussion by clicking the red link of that template. Sent me to create an entirely new page I believe. Is that how it's supposed to work? It's been a minute since I've done this, but I think the way to do it after making the initial template-adding edit is to click the "Preloaded Debate" link listed in step 2 on the template (you can see it in this revision). This will take you to a page to create the discussion itself, with some instructions on how to categorize the discussion, etc. After that page has been deleted, you should be able to jump straight to Step III of the instructions listed at WP:AFDHOWTO. That will make the discussion visible to other editors.
I'll also note that Twinkle is an awesome utility for doing this and so many other things in an automated way that doesn't involve getting your hands quite so dirty with these kinds of manual technical edits, if that would be appealing to you. AviationFreak💬 04:12, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
Just to clarify, after I create the discussion I move onto step three and add the article to the log? Thank you :) OliviaRigby (talk) 05:12, 15 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from ZeddicusTuTran (22:56, 16 November 2025)

Hey, I have a question. Why are some articles locked for me to edit? --ZeddicusTuTran (talk) 22:56, 16 November 2025 (UTC)

@ZeddicusTuTran: Hi! Per this policy, some articles are locked for editing by less-experienced users (i.e., those with fewer edits). In general, contentious articles that are highly-edited and recieve a lot of vandalism are those chosen for protection. This is often a temporary measure. Article protection significantly reduces the load on vandalism patrol - if you'd like to request an edit on a protected article, you can follow the instructions here. ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add NoACEMM to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:42, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

my article (ARC) was denied can you give me some tips so it won't be denied next time the article in question is in my user talk page --CasonPlayzYT (talk) 01:25, 15 November 2025 (UTC)

@CasonPlayzYT: Hi! The article was declined for a lack of in-depth, reliable, independent sources. Taking a look at your draft, the only references that might be useful to establish notability under the relevant notability guideline would be the two local news articles. Local news is generally reliable, but having these as the only two notability-supporting sources is not going to be sufficient. I'll also note that the KLTV link is a 404 page at the moment, so that leaves only the KETK article. As for the other four sources, two are from the company itself (not independent), the Florida Dept. of State one is only a database entry (not useful for notability establishment), and the Texas Tribune article does not appear to mention MSB at all. I hope I've made it clear what needs to be addressed - let me know if you have any other questions! AviationFreak💬 04:29, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
Do you have any tips on finding reliable sources /references? CasonPlayzYT (talk) 17:32, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
There are a number of resources listed at Help:Find sources. Search engines will usually do a solid job of finding available sources, but some (especially print) sources need a bit more looking to find (e.g., newspapers & books). AviationFreak💬 01:07, 29 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from Bellybutton.webnode.page (21:40, 12 December 2025)

Hello! Building on the previous inquiry regarding the epistemological underpinnings of Wikipedia's editorial principles, I’d be interested in your thoughts on how one might effectively address the intersection of WP:FRINGE and WP:WEIGHT in the context of a highly polarized article, particularly when the subject matter is controversial and involves sources that, while academically credible, might still be categorized as fringe due to their limited acceptance in the mainstream scholarly community. Given the increasing scrutiny on the verifiability and reliability of sources under WP:RS, how does one avoid the risk of oversaturating the article with marginal views, while still respecting the principle of neutral point of view (NPOV) and the need for comprehensive representation? Further, could you elaborate on strategies for successfully managing content disputes that arise when editors with varying levels of conflict of interest (WP:COI) introduce or defend such borderline sources, especially when they claim that the sources in question offer novel perspectives that, though non-mainstream, are nonetheless supported by rigorous academic methodologies? Additionally, how would you handle the potential issue of edit warring in such situations, particularly when multiple parties might resort to aggressive citation and counter-citation practices in support of their positions? Finally, when engaging in Talk page discussions, how do you balance the need for thorough, constructive dialogue with the risk of veering into circular arguments or, worse, editors' soapboxing, while maintaining adherence to the policy of consensus-building in contentious areas of highly debated subject matter? --Bellybutton.webnode.page (talk) 21:40, 12 December 2025 (UTC)

Ideally this article would be added to some categories. Hope you're having a good one! AviationFreak💬 20:14, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

Guidelines for cutting down articles?

Hey, I was looking to help improve the page of interacial marriage, and one of the issue notes is that its too long to read. A few users agree with the post in the talk page (with no objections) that it needs to be trimmed down (18k works), and that a lot of the included information is not strictly relevant (A lot of it overly focuses on statistics of interacial relationships in every country in depth which isn't needed). So I wanted to go ahead and try to trim out a lot of uneccesary information from the 18,000 word article, but I'm unaware of the policies for doing such and I don't want to be destructive or mistaken for a vandal. Is it acceptable for me to go in on my own, be bold, and delete and condense massive swaths of article by my own judgement? What guidelines exist that I should follow? What are best practices to follow? Should I edit little by little over time or can I make one massive edit that summarizes a lot or irrelevant data or moves it to a new article? Also what's the procedure for splitting, because that's one potential solution I might look into. Thanks! Wik206 (talk) 07:32, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from BrandsyncAfrica (10:21, 12 February 2026)

Hello is are there any criteria to meet when publishing an article --BrandsyncAfrica (talk) 10:21, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Yes there is! Typically, it is WP:General notability guidelines but there are topic specific versions like WP:NBOOK. Obviously, there is stuff like WP:Ignore all rules, but, I wouldn't worry about it.
I have transluded GNG below.

A topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.

  • "Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material.
    • The book-length history of IBM by Robert Sobel is plainly non-trivial coverage of IBM.
    • Martin Walker's statement, in a newspaper article about Bill Clinton,[2] that "In high school, he was part of a jazz band called Three Blind Mice" is plainly a trivial mention of that band.
  • "Reliable" means that sources need editorial integrity to allow verifiable evaluation of notability, per the reliable source guideline. Sources may encompass published works in all forms and media, and in any language. Availability of secondary sources covering the subject is a good test for notability.
  • "Sources"[3] should be secondary sources. There is no fixed number of sources required since sources vary in quality and depth of coverage, but multiple sources are generally expected.[4] Sources do not have to be available online or written in English. Multiple publications from the same author or organization are usually regarded as a single source for the purposes of establishing notability.
  • "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by the article's subject or someone affiliated with it. For example, advertising, press releases, autobiographies, and the subject's website are not considered independent.[5]

If a topic does not meet these criteria but still has some verifiable facts, it might nonetheless be useful to discuss it within another article.

- Flower (she/her) 14:52, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

References

  1. Moreover, not all coverage in reliable sources constitutes evidence of notability for the purposes of article creation; for example, directories and databases, advertisements, announcements columns, and minor news stories are all examples of coverage that may not actually support notability when examined, despite their existence as reliable sources.

  3. Including but not limited to newspapers, books and e-books, magazines, television and radio documentaries, reports by government agencies, and academic journals. In the absence of multiple sources, it must be possible to verify that the source reflects a neutral point of view, is credible and provides sufficient detail for a comprehensive article.
  4. Lack of multiple sources suggests that the topic may be more suitable for inclusion in an article on a broader topic. It is common for multiple newspapers or journals to publish the same story, sometimes with minor alterations or different headlines, but one story does not constitute multiple works. Several journals simultaneously publishing different articles does not always constitute multiple works, especially when the authors are relying on the same sources, and merely restating the same information. Similarly, a series of publications by the same author or in the same periodical is normally counted as one source.
  5. Works produced by the subject, or those with a strong connection to them, are not evidence of notability. See also: Wikipedia:Verifiability § Questionable sources for handling of such situations.

Question from Bellybutton.webnode.page (17:27, 24 February 2026)

How do I create a citation? --Bellybutton.webnode.page (talk) 17:27, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) There are various ways to create a citation. One of the easiest ways is to use WP:Visual editor. It has a simple guide for doing so at Help:VisualEditor#Adding a new reference. Though, VE uses the next method under the hood. Wikipedia:Citing sources is a good reference (and guideline) for how to manually format references if you want to go that way. - Flower (she/her) 17:57, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Mrgoodfriend (21:15, 26 February 2026)

Hello. I really like your moniker, especially since my son is an ATC. I have created an article about a living person. I am quite confident it is worthy and relevant to be published; however, it is about a person with whom I am acquainted. Where can I put the article so independent review before publishing can be adequately obtained? I have followed all of the article creation guides, and the article is neutral, not promotional, but definitely informational for the group of individuals who are interested in the topic. Thanks for your assistance. Mrgoodfriend (talk) 21:15, 26 February 2026 (UTC)

@Mrgoodfriend: Hi, and thanks! This process is what Articles for Creation is designed for. The page I linked there has a blue "start a new article" button; that should guide you through the process and ultimately submit a draft for review. Let me know if you have any questions! Question from An Eolas Mór (23:34, 26 February 2026)

How can I move a sandbox into alive wikipedia page./ I tried looking in tools but nothing there --An Eolas Mór (talk) 23:34, 26 February 2026 (UTC)

@An Eolas Mór: Hi, welcome! I've taken a look at your sandbox. I'd suggest you go through the Articles for Creation process that is designed to review new articles before they're published. If you visit this link, you should be able to submit your sandbox (you'd want to put "User:An Eolas Mór/sandbox" in the first input box). I will note that before this draft can be accepted, multiple reliable sources that are independent of the subject will be needed to meet the relevant notability guideline. Let me know if you have any questions! AviationFreak💬 04:55, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you. I am new to this and not very good with computer stuff and appreciate any help. I have added references which I hope will help. Please advise further. An Eolas Mór (talk) 12:02, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
@An Eolas Mór: Apologies for the later response. At the top of your sandbox there is a banner with a blue "Submit your draft for review!" button. Clicking that will take you to a page where you can enter a little more info and then submit it for review by experienced editors. That page may complain that you don't have any references, but that's just because they're not formatted like it's expecting (not a critical issue; see this page for info on how to properly format your references). Question from Bizzyfan (20:50, 11 March 2026)

Hello there dear Mentor! Do you know of any way I can expedite the publication of this page? I know I am supposed to be patient! But, yikes, I am not being patient. Here is my opus: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:A.E._%22Dal%22_Grauer

Thanks for your help, Dear Mentor!! --Bizzyfan (talk) 20:50, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

@Bizzyfan: Hi! Sorry, but unfortunately there's no real way to speed up the AFC review process. A list of active reviewers by topic is available here; you may be able to contact a relevant editor via their talk page but please avoid spamming these requests. Question from Fubb9 (15:39, 16 March 2026)

How do I list a page about a company --Fubb9 (talk) 15:39, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

@Fubb9: The first step would be to verify that the company meets the relevant notability guideline. If the company does meet that guideline, see this page for info on creating an article. AviationFreak💬 21:41, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
The page was up for many years. Not sure why it disappeared ~2026-17041-16 (talk) 21:51, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
What is the page in question? If the page was taken down, it was likely as the result of a deletion discusion or a proposed deletion. AviationFreak💬 03:59, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
Lombart Instrument was the page. I am trying to relist it ~2026-17041-16 (talk) 13:08, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
Ah yep, that was deleted in June of last year. When resubmitting it via WP:AFC, make sure to include references that show significant coverage of the company in independent sources; not having those was the reason the page was deleted. AviationFreak💬 15:31, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from SomethingEditor (01:29, 23 March 2026)

Hello! I was wondering what type of 'code' does the source editor use (so I can learn it better)? Thank you! --SomethingEditor (talk) 01:29, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

@SomethingEditor: The source editor uses Wikitext; there's a great guide to using it at Help:Wikitext. Let me know if you have any other questions! AviationFreak💬 02:06, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

Adding easily verifiable info to my biographical page.

Hello, my page was recently flagged when I tried to add information that is very easy to verify, and I'm in the process of adding sources. I am not so famous that people are clamoring to update my page (which I did not create myself). How can I ensure that it is accurate and up-to-date without getting it flagged? Asking someone else to do it for me seems no better than just doing it myself--and creating extra work for someone who already has plenty to do. Thank you! Also, what is the best way to get the flag removed? SneedCollard (talk) 14:12, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

@SneedCollard: Hi! Wikipedia can only be as up-to-date as reliable sources are. In general, editors are encouraged not to directly edit pages they have a conflict of interest on, so asking on your article's talk page or at a relevant Wikiproject would likely be the best course of action. You can provide sources there as well as asking about the removal of any banners, given the concern they express is no longer the case. AviationFreak💬 17:33, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Fdopen (09:30, 25 March 2026)

Hello!

I have a question about the editing of tables in Wikipedia. Specifically the templates. For example when I go to edit "Airlines and Destinations" on some articles, it says that it uses a template called "Airport-dest-list". When I try to edit the table it opens the Visual Editor that I can't really understand. Also I dont know how to add citations onto the templates since the option just isn't on the screen.

Thanks ahead! --Fdopen (talk) 09:30, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

@Fdopen: Hi! Tables can be tricky. With a template like Airport destination list, all the template is doing is standardizing some of the header information. In the Source Editor, you can see how things are structured (this is how all the examples on the template documentation page are done) - I'm not really sure how well the WP:VisualEditor handles templates generally. Adding a citation in a table is done using the same source editor syntax as it would be anywhere else: <code></code>. When working at this technical level, using the source editor is really best. The visual editor is sort of built "on top of" the base-level WP:WIKICODE and sometimes doesn't allow for fine-tuning, but it can be useful for other things (I like to use it if I need to add a whole 'nother column to a non-template table as it makes that much easier). Let me know if you have any other questions; if you're interested in the source editor syntax for tables the documentation is at Help:Table. AviationFreak💬 04:31, 27 March 2026 (UTC)

Linking to a comment on a talk page

Hi there, thanks for becoming my new mentor! I have a couple questions... This is the first one. I've been trying to figure this out forever, and I just can't. Can you point me to instructions on how to link a comment to another comment on the talk page? Thank you so much! Slava570 (talk) 17:08, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

@Slava570: Hi, glad to help out! Typically the way this is done is just by referencing the relevant talk page, sometimes including a section link. The way that would be done to link to this conversation, for instance, would be User talk:AviationFreak#Linking to a comment on a talk page. If you want to highlight a specific comment (though not really the context in which it occurred), a diff can be used to show a specific contribution. The comment you left that I'm responding to can be viewed at Special:Diff/1346575553. Let me know if you have other questions! AviationFreak💬 18:19, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
Thank you so much! I've linked this comment to my sandbox, so I can refer to it later. Slava570 (talk) 18:43, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
You can also copy the timestamp link to the exact comment.
For example, your last comment - Flower (she/her) 20:24, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
Thank you, this helps so much! Slava570 (talk) 20:43, 2 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from Qazers (17:55, 2 April 2026)

Hello! I’ve been working on an article to translate from Ukranian into English, with the help of the translation machine.I have done the Chornyy Lis Republic, a small Ukranian microstate during the Russian Civil War. I have finished the draft, but I don’t know what to do next? How can I submit my draft? How can I fix a few things that are broken on the article (like a picture not showing up)? Help will be appreciated Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3AQazers%2FChornyy_Lis_Republic&wvprov=sticky-header Thanks, Qazers --Qazers (talk) 17:55, 2 April 2026 (UTC)

@Qazers: Hi! I think the issue with the image is that the one on the ukwiki article is not on Commons, so it would need to be manually added on enwiki (why it wasn't added on Commons is unclear to me - maybe copyright concerns?). With that said, there is a very similar image available here on Commons that could be used in your draft. As for submitting the draft, I think it would be best to go through Articles for Creation to ensure notability. To do this, folllow the instructions here: you can either go through a more wizard-style submission or add to the top of your draft. In either case, you should see a yellow box indicating that the draft is waiting to be reviewed. From there, an experienced editor will either accept or reject the article, in the latter case offering insight as to what needs to be improved about the article. Let me know if you have any other questions! AviationFreak💬 19:50, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
The picture has been changed and it’s up for draft. Thanks for the help! Qazers (talk) 22:57, 2 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from Mradziwon (19:21, 14 April 2026)

Hello AviationFreak!

Thanks for taking the role of the mentor. I really appreciate all efforts of wiki actively supporting members.

I have a question about my wiki account. I have established my initial account mradziwo long time ago and I need to admit I have left the wiki for quite a bit:(.

I have used my username mradziwo (without tailing "n") but I do not have the access to the e-mail I have used to create it. Is there any way to reclaim my username (that I use across some other platforms too) ?

Best regards Mike --Mradziwon (talk) 19:21, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

@Mradziwon: I'm sorry to hear that you've lost access to that email. If you still remember the password you used to create the account, you should be able to login just using the username and that password. From there, there's an option in your user preferences to change the email address associated with the account. If you've lost access to the email and your password though, as far as I am aware there is not a way to recover your account. The relevant help page is here. In cases like these, it's not uncommon for users to simply note that they used to edit from a different account on their user talk page. Let me know if you have any other questions!
