- Hi!! Thank you very much for the welcome.
- I'm trying to get the rest of team Grattan set up with wiki pages as well as add some photos to my dads already existing one (Andy McCann). Was just wondering how I would go about that and if there is a verification process that I must go through before publishing a full page? If you could help me out with some insight on that it would be greatly appreciated.
- Thanks again for the warm welcome!!!
- All the best,
- Kohen Kohenmccann5 (talk) 22:33, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- I'd encourage you to give this help page on writing your first article a readthrough to get an idea of what the community's expectations would be. When I'm writing a new article, I personally prefer to work on it in the draft namespace at first before it's ready to be published as an article, which is super easy to do when it's ready to go. When you're ready to start writing, you can use the Article Wizard to get started. Hope that helps! Happy editing! OhKayeSierra (talk) 22:41, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
edit
Hello, Kohenmccann5. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Andy McCann, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the Edit Request Wizard), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 23:00, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi! Much appreciate the information, this was very helpful and I appreciate you saving me from possibly getting caught up in a situation like that, but I am more or less just looking to add the photos of Andy that I took myself to his page, they are not licensed by a professional company but they belong to me as they were taken on my professional camera and edited by me, is there any way that I can add these photos to his profile? Kohenmccann5 (talk) 23:19, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Kohenmccann5, you can upload the photos to Commons (but be aware that this means that anyone else in the world can use those photos). Once you've done that, you can make an edit request to add the images to the article. WP:ERW makes that a bit easier. -- asilvering (talk) 02:37, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
