editHi again Aoba. I know you're on wikibreak rn, but once you're free; can you possibly help/locate more sources for Claire Redfield's reception? I couldn't find more for it to be expanded sadly. Thanks! 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 15:19, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Boneless Pizza!: I will look for sources either later today or sometime tomorrow. Would you prefer that I post any additional sources that I find here or somewhere else? I hope you are having a great week so far. Aoba47 (talk) 22:00, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi. You can post it here at your talk page. Thank you! Have a great weekend aswell. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 22:01, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Boneless Pizza!: I honestly could not find much else. I looked for more scholarly coverage on places like Google Scholar, and I tried going for coverage on places like Newspapers.com to get coverage from when the games were first release. I could not really find anything that substantial. It seems that you may have found everything. It may be worthwhile to check out reviews of the games and films that include her, but based on my search, none of the articles I found really talk about her at all other than giving a cursory explanation of her character.
- There is this book, Heroic Girls as Figures of Resistance and Futurity in Popular Culture, and the first chapter, "The Narratives of Survival: Final Girls in Videogames", may be helpful. I cannot access it through either the Wikipedia Library or Google Books, but it may be worth asking at the resource request. I cannot guarantee that it would be useful, but it appears the chapter at least references Redfield in some capacity.
- Again, I am not that familiar with Resident Evil. My experience is limited to watching my brother play one of the early ones back in the 90's and seeing the Paul W. S. Anderson movies so I could be overlooking something. Homeostasis07 was the primary editor for the Jill Valentine FAC (and honestly deserves all the credit for it). From my experience, a big part of doing research is knowing the right search words and experimenting with different combinations and parameters. Sorry for not being much help with this. Best of luck with the FAC! Aoba47 (talk) 03:25, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Its okay. I really appreciate for all your help since Ada's article. Have a great day! 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 10:45, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Aoba47 It has this but I don't know how to paraphrase and not sure if this is worth adding. WDYT?
🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 03:03, 1 December 2024 (UTC)In the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, a subtle way of establishing the Final Girl’s attitude to their situation can occur during combat. When the player chooses to aim a weapon held by the protagonist (Claire Redfield or Jill Valentine) towards an enemy, during combat with the enemy, or after the enemy has been defeated, a semi-random situational quip or ‘dialogue bark’ will be triggered by these actions. This line will speak directly to the opponent or be used as a pep talk for the character to carry on with their survival ambitions. The combat itself is an emergent narrative, but the interactive narrative works in tandem as both a directional, formal narrative commentary for the player and to add characterisation to the Final Girl’s character in a way that shows how they differ from their male counterparts in an identical situation (Beaulieu 2020).
- I do think that it would be worth adding. It is an interesting analysis, but it has more to do with how Resident Evil does comabat with its female characters and is less about Redfield in particular. Redfield feels more like a mention or an example for something else and not the focus so it would not really fit the scope of her article. Aoba47 (talk) 03:05, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- I see. I guess Claire's reception is 2x shorter than Ada. Many thanks again! 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 03:08, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Sometimes, that just happens. I would honestly just treat each article as its own separate thing and not compare lengths like that, but that is just my opinion of course. Aoba47 (talk) 03:52, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Fair enough 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 04:13, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

- Hey again Aoba. I think this will be my last main RE character that I'm planning to bring in FAC in the future since Rebecca Chambers looks like it is not FA-able. If you have free time would you chime in at the peer review of Leon S. Kennedy . Thanks again! 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 23:32, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Boneless Pizza!: Thank you for your message. I am currently helping with the Steven Universe peer review, but I will try to help out with your Leon peer review when I am done. Why do you think that Rebecca would not be appropriate for a FAC? I do not know anything about here, but I was just curious about this. Aoba47 (talk) 01:18, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you. No rush. About Rebecca, her reception is mostly trivia content, and there's no additional notable discussion about her after digging. After trimming most of it, it'll probably be a lot shorter than Claire, and would be deemed non-notable character. Additionally, she has limited character development info since we're lacking reliable sources about her development. It will probably generate more discussions about her after Resident Evil 0 remake is dropped (it's rumored to be in development). 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 01:33, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Boneless Pizza!: That makes sense. It is a shame whenever a character does get more attention. Have any plans for what you will do next? Aoba47 (talk) 01:46, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- After Leon, Ethan Winters is still a maybe. After that, I have no other interested articles to send in FAC. Hbu? what article youre planning to send soon after 4 da Fam? 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 01:59, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- That makes sense. I would be interested in seeing your work on that article if you decide to go down that route. I thought about working on the "4 da Fam" article as I had worked on a related article that just passed the FAC process, but I think I will do something else instead. I might come back to it some other day. For now, I will focus on getting to reviews, including to your peer review. I do not really have any projects in mind at the moment, but I am sure I will think of something when the time is right. Aoba47 (talk) 02:04, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- Maybe a fictional character? hehe Anyway, I am hoping that you tackle first your other stuff irl before spending a lot by reviewing articles, Aoba. I've checked and saw your contributions that you've been reviewing articles from left to right. Just in case if you forgot this (I'm a little worried like what happened to Vami; it reminded me), your health also matters Aoba. Also, thanks a lot for helping people! Your reviews actually helped a lot since the time you reviewed Ada's article. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 02:11, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- I would love to do another fictional character. Thank you for the kind words. I really do appreciate that. That is honestly one of the big reasons why I decided against pursuing "4 da Fam" as a project since I had already committed to doing reviews. I have been trying to be better with my own health and with balancing things, I always appreciate a friendly reminder about that. I do not want to fall back into bad habits or burn myself out on anything. I hope that everything is going well with you! Aoba47 (talk) 03:02, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

Kiruko
editHi there. Busy with nominations? I nominated Kiruko from Heavenly Delusion to GA after its big copyedit but the first reviewer quit due to real life events. I tried to make sure the character article had proper pronouns considering it's the first time I nominate an article whose gender is discussed a lot by the narrative and themes from the author and third party sources. If possible could you give it a look? Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 22:58, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Tintor2: I will look through the article later this week if that is okay with you. I will pay close attention to the use of pronouns and discussions on gender as you have requested. That being said, I do see issues with the citations so I wanted to point them out to you below:
- The Japanese and Spanish (and any foreign language) sources need a translation included in the citations for the titles.
- Items like Heavenly Delusion would need to be consistently italicized in the citation titles.
- This source has a credited author, who is not included in the citation formatting. It would be a good idea to use this as an opportunity to double check the other citations to make sure all of the available information is included.
- There are issues with the way that the websites/works and publishers are linked in the citations Game Rant is only linked in one citation (and not on the first instance even). I would be consistent with how things are linked. I think it is best to link for each citation.
- Avoid using words in all capital letters, as done for the citation for this source, and this goes for even when the source does this in their own titles.
- What makes Shashwat Publication a reliable publisher? I have the same question for Anime Feminist.
Again, I will look through the article more later in the week, but I would focus on these issues with the citations for now. By the way, have you tried reaching out to the GAN reviewer since their last post on the GAN? I hope you are having a great day so far. Aoba47 (talk) 03:20, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
@Tintor2: I have started to look through the article. I will do a deeper dive either sometime tonight or sometime tomorrow. I am completely unfamiliar with Heavenly Delusion. I have a few clarification questions about it, but apologies in advance if any of this is obvious. In regards to pronoun usage, what pronouns does the character use in the manga and anime? What pronouns doe the coverage, both from the manga/anime creators and from the journalists and critics, use to reference the character?
An option to help potentially make this clear could be to add a note on the first pronoun usage in the lead to clarify why a specific pronoun is being used (like how it it is done for biographies on non-binary people, such as Hikaru Utada, or those on queer people, such as Lily Gladstone, or for those on transgender people, such as Elliot Page). It is just an idea of course so feel free to disagree with it. I hope this helps and makes sense. Aoba47 (talk) 17:37, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. The thing is that the series avoids Kiruko choosing one pronoun. If you read the talk page you will see that it's inconsistent. Initially, Kiruko says they are a woman but when confessing the truth to the other protagonist, Kiruko claims instead he is a man, Haruki. In more comical episodes, Kiruko has some sort of pride of a woman but isn't afraid of showing their naked body in front of Maru casually as they claim he is a guy after all. I guess it depends on the people Kiruko interacts with. To Maru and Robin, Kiruko confesses being a man while to the caretaker, Kiruko is a woman. The exact chapter of the caretaker has Kiruko pretending to be the sister, resulting in the character pronouns that are only used women in Japanese like "watashi" over "ore". Sorry if this is confusing. Tintor2 (talk) 17:47, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation. From my understanding, "watashi" is gender-neutral and not specifically used by women. I learned it and used it while learning Japanese for instance. It is unlike "ore", which is more so used by men.
- Aside from that, it may be best to add a note to more directly explain to readers why a specific pronoun will be used throughout the article. Has they/them ever been used in the context of this character or the surrounding coverage? I know that it can be difficult to track this kind of gendered language in a different language and culture like Japanese, and even more so when the subject material is deliberately playing with and blurring gender in this way with the character. I would just be concerned about using they/them potentially being considered original research, especially if this type of pronoun is not used with the character in other spaces.
- Sorry for not having a more straight-forward answer about this one. Maybe it would be helpful to reach out to some of the Wikiprojects, like Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan or Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBTQ+ studies? These are just some ideas to think about of course. Whatever direction you decide to take with this, I think that it is important to do something that establishes from the start why certain pronouns are being used. Aoba47 (talk) 20:04, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- This is an interview with the author himself: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interview/2023-09-25/crafting-a-hell-in-heaven-with-heavenly-delusion-creator-masakazu-ishiguro/.201179
- "Gender expression and sexual identity seem to be important themes in the story. How did you decide to approach this aspect regarding Kiruko and the school-like setting?
- ISHIGURO: As for Kiruko, the character represents not a binary of “male” or “female” but rather a gradation of spiritual sexuality. The school is depicted as a kind of thought experiment in a world where sexual elements are abolished."
- I'm not sure with how to exactly handle this response but I have seen this website using they for Kiruko during reviews since last year they used make reviews for the 13 episodes. Hope that helps. Tintor2 (talk) 21:27, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- That does help a lot actually. I think that source justifies the usage of the they/them pronouns. It may be good to add some sort of note in the beginning about this. Something along the lines of they/them will be consistently used through the article except for instances that discuss their past identity as Haruki Takehaya or their sister's body. Thank you again for the response and for taking the time to explain this to me. Aoba47 (talk) 23:17, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- It may be helpful to bring this article through the peer review process prior to a GAN. I did a brief copy-edit of part of the lead, and of course, feel free to revert anything that you disagree with. I was confused by one pronoun instance in the lead. Why is her used in reference to the gun? I was also uncertain about what was meant by this sentence: (In contrast to previous stories he read, Ishiguro wanted Kiruko's body change to be written in a realistic manner.) What is meant by "a realistic manner" in this context? The story itself is more of a science-fiction one and not particularly realistic one.
- Apologies in advance as I will not be able to do a full GAN review for this article. I have the time to assist with FACs and peer reviews, but a GAN in my opinion does take quite a bit of time and work. Also, sorry for posting so many messages on here about this. I am just trying to help as much as I can right now. Aoba47 (talk) 03:40, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- No problem. Thanks for giving so much attention. About realistic, it's probably because some other anime series write gender swap in a comical manner which Ishiguro didn't like so he wanted to give Kiruko a realistic take of a man experiencing a woman's body forever. The anime cut down some parts like when Kiruko is weakened and upon being treated in a hospital, it is revealed the body is going through its first period. Same with gender identity involving the relationship between the two leads. Maru early confesses Kiruko that he is in love with them which results in a rejection when Kiruko claims the true identity. Even after feeling depressed by the response, Maru keeps feeling attracted by Kiruko until one scene mentioned in the reception has Maru saying that while he doesn't know Haruki or Kiriko he is still in love with Kiruko and no gender identity can change such feelings. Anyways,I noticed Pizza nominated Chris to FA. It sure would be nice if most Resident Evil characters reach that status. Cheers. Tintor2 (talk) 00:52, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- That makes sense. Thank you for the explanation. It would be great to see other Resident Evil characters become FAs in the future. It definitely inspires me to work on other fictional characters in the future. I went with something smaller and easier to ease my way back into doing projects on here for the time being, but as I have said before, fictional character articles are one of my favorite parts of Wikipedia. Kennedy and I'm just wondering if the 3 sources at the talk page is usable? I'm just quite surprised that the iconic character like him doesn't have that much reception, unlike Chris Redfield. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 14:10, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

WP:VG/RS lists PCGamesN and Polygon as reliable sources. It also helps that for both, there is clear evidence of editorial oversight and both are seemingly well-known in regards to video game journalism, although I am admittedly more with Polgyon. I am curious on how you plan to use the Polygon source? I was a bit uncertain about it as it seemed to be more of a make-up tutorial, but it does have good information in it, especially about the dislike for Ashley Graham. Just to be clear, I do think that it is a good and appropriate source that honestly had more than I expected based on the title, but I was just wondering how you were planning to use it for the Leon article? But, in short, all three sources look appropriate to me for a FAC/GA. Aoba47 (talk) 15:40, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

Hi there, I recently started working on this article again, and I wanted to know what were your takes on it. If I don’t burn myself out, I could have it at FAC after a while, I just need to add academic input and maybe request another copyedit. 1989 (talk) 01:52, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- @1989: Thank you for the message. I hope you are doing well. I honestly have not thought about Steven Universe since maybe 2016. It is crazy how time flies. I respect your choice to work on the article as it is a really popular show with a lot of research to contend with. I completely understand what you mean by burnout. I have felt that way many times on here, and I have plenty of false starts with project ideas. I am sure you will do great though. I would be more than happy to look through the article. I will try to do so over the upcoming week and weekend. Please ping me as a reminder if I have not updated you by this time next week.
- I've always found it helpful to go through the citation formatting as I think it creates a solid foundation for future work on the article. Here are some points with the article's citations: at least one foreign-language citation does not have an English-translated title, show titles like Steven Universe should be italicized in the citation titles per MOS:CONFORMTITLE, the use of title case is inconsistent in the citation titles, and it is unclear to me how the website/work and publishers are linked. Aside from that, I see some uncited areas in the article, and I would encourage citation bundling for any instances of four or more citations to avoid citation overkill.
- Apologies for the length of my response. I just wanted to help by at least posting some suggestions/comments, which I hope are helpful and not too annoying. I hope to see this in the FAC space in the future. Aoba47 (talk) 03:19, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- It’s all part of the process, I’m not annoyed one bit. Feel free to add comments here when you’re ready. 1989 (talk) 20:31, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- @1989: Thank you for the response and for the link to the peer review. I am looking forward to reading through the article sometime later in the week or over the weekend. I still have a lot of very fond memories with this show so coming back to it will be quite bittersweet (in a good way, of course).
- I have a few quick questions. I noticed that on a discussion about the show's representation of race and criticism regarding that on the article's talk page, which brings up two sources (here and here). I am uncertain of the other citation brought up in that conversation.
- Is that something already addressed in the article? Would it be something that be worthwhile to include? Has this criticism about the show received enough coverage to justify inclusion? I will leave any other comments on the peer review page, but I thought I should ask this here since I have not gone through the article. Aoba47 (talk) 21:01, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- There’s no criticism of the show on the reception section as of present. As of enough coverage, I don’t think so. I’m not even sure if including it with just two sources would be enough. I’ll probably find some in the academic papers I'm gonna read from the Further Reading section. 1989 (talk) 21:35, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response. That makes sense to me. If there is not enough coverage on this topic, aside from these two sources, then I agree that there is not enough inclusion. I trust your opinion on it as you have done more research on this topic than I have. The "Further Reading" section would seem like a good place for that, but to be honest, I am not too familiar with how to best craft that kind of thing so I will leave that up to you. | You have been awarded the Soap Opera Barnstar for your contributions to WikiProject Soap Operas and soap opera-related articles on Wikipedia by helping getting several Passions related articles to FA status. Well done and thank you! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 02:09, 31 December 2024 (UTC) |
- Thank you! I really appreciate this barnstar and the message. I am really proud of my work on those Passions articles, and one of these days, I would love to get back to do more work on articles about that show. I have such fond memories of that soap opera, and it really makes me nostalgic and just happy to be honest. Aoba47 (talk) 02:49, 31 December 2024 (UTC)

Immersion, Narrative, and Gender Crisis in Survival Horror Video Games
editHi again. I was wondering that if you have idea if the content at the book is worth is add at Chris and Jill's article? I am havign trouble at summarizing it as a non native english speaker when it comes to masculinity topic and such. Thanks! 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 02:33, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the message and the link. I will look into it sometime tomorrow and will let you know then. Aoba47 (talk) 02:37, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you. I am willing to add it at the article, but I don't think I do have ability to so; given how complex that topic is. Thank you! 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 02:51, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Boneless Pizza!: I do not think the source is necessary to the Jill Valentine article, which already includes discussions regarding the character's appearance and how she differs from Chris gameplay-wise. I could see a use for it in the Chris Redfield article, as it could bring up how Resident Evil presents the character's masculinity. That being said, I think that would work better if this source was used in combination with others that also analyze this about the character, rather than by itself.
- It is up to you of course if you want to use the source. I do not think that it would be absolutely necessary for either article, but I could see a clearer purpose for it in the Redfield article. To be honest, I do not like the analysis in the source. No offense meant to the writer. I am more so just acknowledging my potential bias against the source. I do love that academia is doing more in regards to video game studies.
- I can understand how this source would be difficult for a non-native speaker. I could also see it being challenging for even native speakers as it does get quite technical at points with its language. I would be curious on what @Homeostasis07: and @Damien Linnane: think about this, as they are some of the primary contributors to the article. Apologies for the pings and for the long response. I hope that this answers your question. Aoba47 (talk) 14:32, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for confirming that you do not like this analysis. I mean if its kinda bad then I don't think we should include them.
- Just to be clear that is just my opinion. I tried to base my discussion more on what the source would add to either article, but I thought it would be good to point out my own bias. Aoba47 (talk) 15:51, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- No, ifs fine. I already trust your opinion =) 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 15:57, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

I am gonna ask a very last question if its okay for you. At page 243 , it says Chris Redfield as an ambiguously good or evil character, who actually serves as part of his absolution since he is figured as a soldier who is performing the proverbial act of "just following orders". This is hardly the lone hero hegemonic masculinity. Rather, Redfield's masculinity is based on simply copping out, especially in the presence of powerful women. Not surprisingly, then, the creators of the game installed the Chris Redfield character switch - both in terms of gameplay and plot - as a kind of reward of the players. How about this, does this seems ok to add? thank you so much =). 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 15:45, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I am glad that I could help. How would you incorporate this information in the article? Aoba47 (talk) 15:51, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I am not sure tbh. When it comes sexuality or masculinity, it's kinda tough to sh
- summarize. Do you think the second book I mebtioned abkve is worth to add? 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 15:54, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I think that it is worth trying. I could see both of the above sources being used in the Redfield article for a part on how scholars have analyzed the character's masculinity. It may be worthwhile to work out a version first in your sandbox and revise that, as I have always found that to be helpful. Aoba47 (talk) 16:00, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I already incorporated it . Feel free to copyedit if you any mistakes. Thanks a lot. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 16:28, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I would figure out a different way to incorporate this information into the section. It does not fit with its current placement, as the rest of the paragraph is about the character's perceived sex appeal, and this analysis of his hypermasculinity does not fall into that topic. I also think that the current wording is too close to what is used in the source. For instance, this part in the article,
particularly in the midst of powerful women
, is too close of a paraphrase to this part from the source, especially in the presence of powerful women. Based on the quote that you have provided above from the source, I see other instances of this close paraphrasing. I would figure out a better way to present and summarize what the source is saying in your own words. Aoba47 (talk) 21:15, 29 January 2025 (UTC)- Yeah, I am kinda struggling about this one. I moved it to the first paragraph and reworded the one sentence at the end. Thank you so much Aoba. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 21:46, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- The placement is better, but I would still encourage you to look at the prose. It can be difficult to incorporate this kind of academic analysis into a Wikipedia article. That is why I recommended working on it in a sandbox so you can revise and rework it over time. I would also say that it is best to have a solid understanding of what the scholarly article is saying and what you want to use from it in the Wikipedia article in relation to the subject. Aoba47 (talk) 01:00, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

Buffy revival
editSince I know you're interested in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I'm sure you'll be happy to know a revival is in the works!!! PanagiotisZois (talk) 00:26, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: Thank you for the message. I am always cautiously optimistic when it comes to these things. I am glad that it is a sequel series, rather than a reboot, and that Sarah Michelle Gellar is back. I have always enjoyed her as an actress. Buffy is one of my favorite shows, and it influenced me a lot growing up. I would probably bring Buffy back either as a Watcher or some sort of mentor figure for a new Slayer. I think that would the most organic way to keep her while still moving forward with new characters and new stories. I'd probably avoid everything from the comics and set this in a separate continuity from that.
- As you can probably already tell, I have spent way too much time thinking about this lol. We will just have to wait and see what happens. On a related note, I am going back to rework Satsu (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) for a potential FAC (depending on how it all goes of course). It has been ages since I have really looked through the article, but it would be fun to revisit regardless. I have always had a soft spot for this character for some reason. It would be fun to work on other Buffy articles in the future. What have you been up to lately on Wikipedia? Aoba47 (talk) 04:17, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- I agree. Bringing Buffy back as a mentor figure seems like the best outcome. We get to have Buffy back, while also focusing on a new generation of Slayers. This would also make sense behind-the-scenes-wise, as I doubt Sarah Michelle Gellar would be up to performing the stunts she did more than 20 years ago. (Not that she couldn't if she didn't want to.)
- This is probably delusional on my part, but I really hope they also bring back Amber Benson. After all these years, I'd be nice if Tara's death was undone. I know some people would complain about deaths being undone, but if almost every other (male) character in the Buffyverse has died and been resurrected, I don't see why she can't come back.
- As for Satsu, I would like to see how you're able to further improve the article. It is a bit surprising that so much information exists on a character that had relatively few appearances in comics, that acted as a sequel to a TV show. If all goes well and I also have the time, I'd love to help with the peer review/FAC. Sidenote: did you read the Buffy comics when they were coming out?
- To answer your question, I haven't been very active on Wikipedia lately, mostly due to work. I'm also trying to dedicate some of my free time to reading novels or watching TV, XD. But there are definitely a few pages I'd like to work on at some point. Getting the X-Man Morph to FA in the future would be pretty swell, but I'll probably wait until season 2 of X-Men '97 is out. Working on something relating to The Handmaid's Tale would also be fun. But I think for now, it will be easier for me to act as a reviewer and help others with their articles instead; especially with "Reception" sections, which I'd say has become kind of my specialty. XD PanagiotisZois (talk) 12:11, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- I would love to see Amber Benson come back, even if it was just as a guest appearance in a dream sequence or as some sort of magic or spirit guide. They did revive Spike after his death in the series finale, and he was caught up in a magical explosion so anything is possible in the Buffyverse. I'd honestly love to see something with Kendra, but I doubt that would ever happen.
- I was also surprised by the amount of coverage for a side character in a comic book adaptation, but I think that for better or for worse, most of the attention was from her crush and her brief sexual relationship with Buffy. I would greatly appreciate your help in the future. I hope a FAC is possible, but I will be more certain about it either way once I have done more research and gathered the sources together. I enjoy the research process so I am having fun with that.
- I read bits and pieces of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight around 2009-2010 so around the end of that "season". I mostly collected it in trade paperback form. "Anywhere but Here" might have been the first single issue comic book that I ever read. I even kept up with the SlayAlive forum. I used some of the panels and covers for inspiration for drawing, which I keep meaning to restart. I fell off with Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Nine, but I do still have an eclectic collection of Buffy comics from different eras. It's interesting to see how different writers and artists interpret these characters.
- Best of luck with everything work-related. I would be more than happy to help with anything Wiki-related in the future. The Handmaid's Tale is one of my favorite books, and I have only heard positive things about X-Men '97. Did you enjoy the first season? I enjoy X-Men in general, but I haven't watched it yet. I can understand on wanting to wait with Morph as the show and things with the character progresses.
- It is always great to help others, and I am glad that you are great with "Reception" sections. If I'm being honest, I still get a bit intimidated by those sections lol. I've also been dedicating more time to other things, which is why I've been slower with my own projects. I believe that I've gotten better with time management, especially when it comes to Wikipedia. Aoba47 (talk) 01:47, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- Any Amberon Benson in a project is always welcome. XD I'm glad to hear you're having fun researching stuff for Satsu. That can also be fun for me, but it can get overwhelming if there are TOO many sources to go through. That's the main reason I decided to not work on The Virgin Spring.
- Funnily enough, the Buffy comics were some of the first trade paperbacks I ever bought. I think I might have actually bought almost all of the collections. Ironically, I still hadn't seen the whole show at the time. XD
- Thank you for offering to help. :) I still need to finish Handmaid's Tale, and then I still have The Testaments, but I might read that at another point. As for X-Men '97, I DEFINITELy enjoyed it and would recommend watching it. I grew up with the 90s cartoon and binge-watched it just as season 1 was premiering, but I'd argue that even with little knowledge of either the cartoon or the X-Men mythos, it's still easy to understand.
- As for "Reception" sections, I could give you some help or suggestions in the future if you need/want. I can understand they can be daunting if you have multiple potentials reviews to go through. PanagiotisZois (talk) 12:34, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- I completely understand that feeling. I also get overwhelmed when it comes to have a lot of sources. I have had a lot of false starts lately for that very reason, like when I thought about rewriting Private Practice season 1. I plan on taking things more slowly with the Satsu rewrite so I think that will take some of the pressure away from it. That and it is connecting back to a topic that meant a lot to me growing and still does now.
- Amber Benson is great, and I really should check out more of her work. It is cool that we both had the same entry point into comics with Buffy. I have all of Season Eight, and I have been buying other trade paperbacks whenever I see them at used bookstores and such. I hope that you enjoy the rest of Handmaid's Tale. I love the ending. I get wanting to take a break before getting into the sequel for a lot of reasons. I have seen bits and pieces of the 90s cartoon and I enjoyed it. That show was probably one of the main reasons why Rogue is my favorite X-Men. Just out of curiosity, who are your favorite X-Men? I've always had a soft spot for Rogue, Jubilee, and Mystique (super random I know lol). Aoba47 (talk) 18:04, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- The Buffy comics were pretty great; at least season 8, as I haven't really read the rest. One thing I liked is that since they were comics that didn't have to worry about budget, we saw more fantastical elements and monster designs than the show, which was fun. On that topic, although it was kinda obvious from before, I can tell that Satsu is a bit of a passion project for you.
- Concerning The Handmaid's Tale, I do know how most of the story goes down, as I've already caught up with the Hulu show. Throughout the whole thing, I've been taking notes about things that I find interesting. Although things like politics, women, women's roles, misogyny, Christian fundamentalist, and whatnot are very important and obvious topics, one theme I'd like to focus on (not on Wikipedia) is that of narration and narrative structure. I haven't read the ending yet, but from what I know about the "Historical Section" epilogue, the entire novel is essentially the stuff Offred recorded and left behind. That would be a very interesting thing to look into; a novel which acknowledges its status as a document of story-telling. I hope the sequel will prove as equally interesting.
- As for the X-Men, firstly I have to say I understand your top three choices. I mean, Rogue and Mystique are adoptive mother and daughter, so it's not that random of a pairing. And Jubilee was kinda hot during the 90s and early 2000s, so I'm sure she amassed fans during that era. She also was the "kid-appeal character". As for me, growing up my favourite X-Man was Jean Grey. Redhead, telekinetic, the Phoenix Force and all that. But now, having actually read Uncanny X-Men up until the early 1980s, I'd have to say that my other favourite X-Men are Cyclops, Storm, and Nightcrawler. I do like Wolverine too, but his oversaturation and dudebro stans are things I don't like much. PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:01, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- I agree. I love that Buffy really embraced being a comic and just had fun with bigger and fantastical stories. I have a more mixed opinion on the season overall, but I still go back to read and enjoy it, so I think that says more than anything. It really did and still does capture my imagination. Maybe it is time for another re-read lol. Beyond that season, I have liked the bits and pieces that I read of the Angel & Faith comic. I would say that most of my Wikipedia work is like a passion project, starting with the FACs that I did on Passions characters, but I do agree that Satsu would definitely fall into that category for all the reasons we have discussed above.
- I really enjoyed the ending for The Handmaid's Tale and found it to be very impactful. I also like that kind of meta quality in books in general. I have studied narrative structure as an English Literature student, and I agree that it is really interesting. I never could get into the television series since Elisabeth Moss is a lead as her connections with the Church of Scientology made me uncomfortable, but I do appreciate how the show, along the sequel, hopefully continues discussions on these ideas, because unfortunately, it is still very relevant. I hope that you enjoy the sequel.
- Those are all excellent choices. I remember being in a bookstore in Washington, D.C. years ago and a kid was upset that there were so many Wolverine comic books and that he wanted to get one about Scarlet Witch and/or Vision. It is always a shame whenever a character gets oversaturated and draws a toxic fanbase. It is always a shame when stans or a fanbase in general turns more sour as these kinds of community can really bring people together to share differing opinions and to just have fun. Aoba47 (talk) 01:58, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
@PanagiotisZois: Apologies for the ping. I have a quick question for you. In earlier drafts of the Satsu (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) article, I had included interviews with the artist Georges Jeanty on a fan forum called SlayAlive. I had removed them from the article following this discussion in the WP:RSN back in 2022. I had found evidence that the interviews were legit. At the time of the WP:RSN discussion, I had linked Twitter posts from Jeanty, which I can no longer access, but there is this article on Dark Horse Comics in which a main person from the forum also confirms interviews with individuals involved with the comics, naming Jeanty as an example. The WP:RSN raised questions about due weight. Just to be clear, I. greatly value that person's opinion, and they were kind about it. I would be using the interviews as a primary source, specifically the process on how the character's look was designed. I think that would be relevant information, but I wanted to get your opinion on it. Do you think these citations would be okay for a potential FAC or would they be considered inappropriate for any reason? I am likely over-thinking it, but it is nice to have a second opinion on these things. Aoba47 (talk) 02:29, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
- I actually ran into a similar issue with the Rachel Foster article. One of the interviews came from a source that didn't have reliability proven. However, as it was an interview used for "Production", instead of a review for "Reception", it was accepted as a primary source. All I had to do was prove that it really was the company giving that interview, which I did by proving a Facebook post of the company linking to the interview. PanagiotisZois (talk) 08:17, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response and for your help. I remember that coming in the Rachel Foster FAC now that you bring it up. I would also be using it as a primary source in a background section so hopefully it will be okay in that context. Aoba47 (talk) 21:31, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
FAC review request
editHello Aoba, I hope you're doing well and having a good day. I was wondering if you would like to review my Christmas Tree Farm FAC. I greatly appreciate your thorough reviews and I think your review would add a lot to the article. I completely understand if you don't have the time or interest, though :)) Medxvo (talk) 10:16, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Medxvo: Thank you for the message. Even though I love Christmas music, I unfortunately do not have the time right now to do a FAC review. I am devoting my time on here to my own projects, and when it comes to doing a review, I want to make sure that I give it the proper time and energy that it deserves. I have done a FAC review in the past week, but as I have been working on my own project, I have shifted more attention to that. I also have a lot of off-Wiki work that I want to get either completed or started so I am not spending as much time on Wikipedia as I did in years past. Apologies for not being able to help. Best of luck with the FAC! Aoba47 (talk) 17:40, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. No worries and no need to apologize, I completely understand! I wish you the best of luck on-wiki and off-wiki :)) Medxvo (talk) 17:50, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you. I appreciate that. Same to you! Aoba47 (talk) 19:25, 11 February 2025 (UTC)

Working in two characters
editLately, I've been thinking if I could nominate Ryo Sakazaki and Killua Zoldyck but before that I put them under request to be copyedited. I'm concerned if certain parts of Ryo's reception are needed considering it was nearly deleted but it survived its ADF. Besides the prose, I'm confused with what parts of the reception are worth keeping considering the length of it. Anyway, I know you are on a break but just wanted you to hear my doubts about it. For Killua, I'm not that concerned since most sources are analysis of his appearances. Cheers. Tintor2 (talk) 22:49, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Tintor2: Thank you for the message. Sorry, but I will not have the time right now to adequately look through the Ryo article. I do not know anything about either character or their related video games so I am uncertain if I would be the best person to ask anyway. I've been busy with off-Wiki stuff so I have been restricting my time on here to just my own personal projects. I do not see myself doing any reviewing and such for a while to be honest. Apologies again. Best of luck with both articles! Aoba47 (talk) 05:31, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
FAC comments
editHey Aoba, how are you doing? Sorry for reaching out to you out of the blue, but I wonder if you could look into my current FAC -- Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Forever & Always/archive1, and provide some comments for it? Many thanks in advance! Ippantekina (talk) 01:56, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Ippantekina: Thank you for the message. I am sorry, but unfortunately, I will not be able to do a review for your FAC. I am reserving my time on here for my own projects as I have a lot going on off-Wiki. For that reason, I am on a bit of a wikibreak, at least in terms of reviewing. I do not see myself doing a review for a while to be perfectly honest, as I would not have the time to do one justice. Apologies again. Best of luck with the FAC! - Thank you for the message. Aoba47 (talk) 15:53, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, you removed my talk page topic on this page, and while I don't necessarily disagree since admittedly it was only tangentially related, the See Also pages are one of the best ways to discover tangentially related information. More related, I'm not sure of a better way to make that suggestion or the best place to add that.
- Even more related, since there was no other activity on the talk page I kind of assumed it wouldn't matter much if a slightly off topic message was added there.
- I understand and actually fully support keeping Wikipedia as a high quality resource (as mentioned in one of the links in that message) but one complaint I do have that I am likely not alone in is that experienced editors do not make it a welcoming and friendly place particularly when one upsets one of the numerous vaguely defined and difficult to discover rules.
- I can't be too upset, because honestly I was being a bit cheeky and was mostly amused this was a featured article since I only learned of that painting a day or two ago so, no worries - just food for thought. Anyway, good work and congratulations on the featured article! I'm sure it is nice to know many people read something you worked on and really I would be protective of it if it was me, too Relevantusername2020 (talk) 02:36, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

edit| The Reviewers Award | ||
| By the authority vested in me by myself it gives me great pleasure to present you with this award in recognition of the thorough, detailed and actionable reviews you have carried out at FAC. This work is very much appreciated. Gog the Mild (talk) 17:48, 21 February 2025 (UTC) |
- @Gog the Mild: Thank you for the award and for the kind words. I always enjoy being able to help out editors and really read through their work thoroughly and carefully. I think that I could still improve a lot as a reviewer, but I am grateful to the editors who set such a great example for someone like to follow. I hope you are having an excellent end to your week and start to your weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 23:10, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- That's very kind of you. I am good thanks. Looking forward to a few days winter walking in Scotland next week - see the picture on my home page. I hope that things are as good with you. Given the number and quality of reviews you have done you are an editor whom others use as a model - including your praiseworthy belief that there is always room for improvement. Gog the Mild (talk) 23:33, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the kind words. That really does mean a lot to me. I hope that you are able to enjoy some winter walking soon. The picture on your user page is truly awesome. Aoba47 (talk) 15:34, 22 February 2025 (UTC)

Checking in...
editHello! Belated Happy New Year (and apologies if we've already spoken before today—then this greeting might seem a bit silly). I just wanted to check in and see how you've been and how 2025 is treating you so far. I want you to know that, even though we might not speak often, your work continues to inspire me in my own editing. I often refer to your articles, especially those on songs and fictional characters, as examples. I'm looking forward to seeing any future projects you have coming, whether soon or down the road :-) Changedforbetter (talk) 16:20, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Changedforbetter: Hello again. Thank you for the kind words. No need to apologize as I am always happy to hear from you. I have always enjoyed our conversations. I hope that you had a happy new year and that 2025 is going well for you. Your message means a lot to me. I have put a lot of time and work into my projects on Wikipedia so I greatly appreciate everything that you have said. I have only positive things to say about your editing, and you inspire me as well. I think that at its best, Wikipedia can be a wonderful community to meet people and to be inspired.
- I am somewhat on a wikibreak at the moment, but more so from reviewing. I am currently working on the Satsu (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) article for a possible FAC in the future. But, I am taking my time with it, especially as I will be going through a decent amount of scholarly articles. While I enjoy that process a lot, I find that it does take time. Lately, I have been feeling inspired to go back to fictional character articles. Those have always been my favorite Wikipedia articles, both as a reader and as an editor. I am looking forward to any projects you have for the future. Do you have anything in mind? Again, feel free to message me anytime. I have certainly left you a lot of messages on your talk page lol. Aoba47 (talk) 20:03, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Aoba47 It's lovely to hear from you, and I’m glad you’re doing well. Thank you for the kind words about my articles — I really appreciate it. I’m also glad to hear you’re taking a break to focus on other things. As always, the work you’ve done on Satsu (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is fantastic, and I’m excited to see where a potential FA nomination goes.
- I wouldn’t quite say I’m on a wiki break, but after the whirlwind of having four of my GA nominations reviewed and promoted within a span of about four weeks earlier this year (which was thrilling but exhausting), I’ve decided to tackle something I’ve been putting off for a while: revisiting some of my older GAs to polish and refine them. Many of these are Disney character articles, which often attract well-meaning but fan-crufty edits and quickly become bloated and unfocused. Recently, I’ve massively overhauled the Kim Possible (character), Simba, Belle (Disney song), and I Won’t Say (I’m in Love) articles. A particular focus of mine has been trimming down the overstuffed "Appearances" sections, where editors tend to list every single appearance a Disney character makes, including lengthy plot summaries that have little relevance to the character’s core significance.
- I'm especially proud of my Mufasa article, which achieved GA status in January. It turned out to be a much bigger project than I had anticipated (especially for a supporting character), but I’m really pleased with how it came together. As for new projects, I don’t have anything immediate lined up, but with the success of the Wicked movie and renewed interest in the stage show, I’ve been considering pushing some of their song articles to GA status – or perhaps creating an article focused entirely on the Ashman-Menken songwriting partnership. We'll see where it goes. Changedforbetter (talk) 20:42, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Changedforbetter: Thank you. I am excited to work on Satsu (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), which is always a good sign. I think that I have gotten better about managing my time on here. I remember spending a lot of time editing on Wikipedia in a single day or a single sitting, so I am proud of myself for finding a better balance, at least for me.
- It can be a surreal experience when revisiting an older GA or an older project in general. I find that I can psych myself and feel a bit too intimidated by the process. One of these days, I should revisit some of my older FAs for a similar purpose, but I have been putting that off for a while as well lol. Congratulations again on all of your work with the Disney articles. I am still so impressed by the Belle's ball gown article. I can understand how these bigger and more popular articles would attract some less-than-helpful additions over time, particularly as Disney characters are used so frequently.
- You have done a wonderful job with the Mufasa article. You should be proud of it. Although Mufasa is a supporting character, he has made a very large impact. I would love to see you work on Wicked articles, but only if you want to of course. It is one of favorite musicals, but I have actually still not seen the movie. I was surprised that people online say the second act is weaker, as I actually prefer the songs from that portion. Ashman-Menken have made some truly iconic music, and it would be nice to see more articles about partnerships like that in general. That being said, I have run into a lot of false starts so I get what you mean. I have just been taking it one project at a time lately. Best of luck with whatever you end up doing in the future! Aoba47 (talk) 04:21, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Aoba47 Time management is definitely important when it comes to Wikipedia editing to avoid burnout, but it's so easy to fall down that rabbit hole, especially if you're a completionist like myself.
- Revisiting old projects can feel a bit like seeing a photo of yourself from 5-10 years ago and wondering what you were thinking, even though you thought you looked great at the time. Even something as relatively recent as the Belle’s ball gown article is tough for me to read four years later, even though I do think it’s one of my better articles.
- Wicked is also one of my favorite musicals, if you couldn’t tell from my handle, haha. I’ve never understood the criticisms about the second act being "weaker"—I think the book (the musical’s script, not the novel, which I haven't read) is as well-rounded, well-paced, and satisfying as you can get for a fantasy show, especially when you’re suspending disbelief about a country with magic and talking animals being shocked by a green human. But yes, I’m trying not to approach any new projects unless I’m absolutely sure I’m going to see it through to the end.
- Out of curiosity, is the Wicked movie something you're actively avoiding, or just something you haven’t gotten around to yet? I’m not here to judge or convince you in any way, just genuinely curious! Changedforbetter (talk) 20:12, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Changedforbetter: I have experienced Wikipedia burnout over the years, but I think that I have a better handle on it now. I can relate to being a completionist, as I like to take projects from start to FACs. I agree with your perspective about revisiting old projects. I am probably just being too hard on myself when it comes to that.
- I am glad that I am not the only one who enjoys the second act. I prefer the songs that are darker like "No Good Deed" and "As Long as You're Mine" or more bittersweet like "Thank Goodness" or "For Good" over the lighter songs in the first act, although I do love "Popular". I am not actively avoiding the movie. I debated on seeing it in theaters, but I never got around to it. I have not kept up with new movies. I have found myself more so going back to past stuff. I have been watching a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters for instance. The last time that I saw a movie in theaters was 2023. I really should change that though. Have you seen the Wicked movie? What were your thoughts about it?
- I am also really only approaching projects that I am pretty confident with finishing. I've also gotten better with leaving work to be done for later rather than trying to do it all at once. I think that and knowing when to take breaks from reviewing has helped with my time on Wikipedia. Aoba47 (talk) 17:36, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Aoba47 "No Good Deed" is definitely one of my favorites from the show, and I can't wait to see how they handle it in Part Two. That said, I think my top song is I'm Not That Girl—an unpopular opinion, I know! Since the movie, though, I’ve gained a newfound appreciation for No One Mourns the Wicked. It was a song I probably would have skipped on the OBCR, but now I love it.
- I've seen the Wicked movie three times in theaters and rented it once when it became available on streaming—mostly to make my partner watch it, lol. I really, really enjoyed it, and I probably drove my friends and co-workers absolutely mad going on about it (as I'm doing to you now lol). Considering how badly things could have gone in the wrong hands, I think Jon M. Chu and the cast absolutely nailed it. You can tell everyone involved is a fan of the show and musicals in general, and they genuinely wanted to do it justice. I have a few minor grievances, of course, but since you haven’t seen the movie yet, I’ll hold off on those.
- I've come to terms with the fact that I’ll only truly finish and feel invested in articles about subjects I’m actually a fan of—whether it’s a character, song, or movie. Since so much of writing involves researching sources and content, I’ve realized I’m far less likely to see an article through if I don’t care about the topic, even if the format is the same. Accepting that has helped me streamline my workload and focus on what I genuinely enjoy. Changedforbetter (talk) 13:09, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Changedforbetter: Sorry for the super late reply (almost a month!?). I am not sure how I missed your message. I also love "I'm Not That Girl". I think that it perfectly shows the vulnerability of both characters. It was a fun way to tie both acts together and bring up their different perspectives. I usually skip over "No One Mourns the Wicked" so I completely relate to that. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I usually skip over "Dancing Through Life" as well, although I am more than open to reevaluating this whenever I do see the movie.
- I am glad that you enjoyed the movie. That honestly makes me more interested in seeing it, as is always encouraging whenever fans are passionate about an adaptation. I would be more than happy to talk about the movie more in the future after I have watched it. The cast is absolutely incredible, and I am so glad that they cast actors who could really sing and perform these roles. I have loved Chu ever since Crazy Rich Asians as I am a huge rom-com fan. I was so disappointed that the sequels and rumored spin-off movie were never done. I have heard that his memoir is really good, but I have not read it yet.
- Your last paragraph really resonates with me. I have probably talked about it far too much on Wikipedia, but I used to work on some articles more out of a sense of obligation rather than actual enjoyment. That was causing real issues for me. Being more streamlined has helped me as well. I also take on things that I genuinely enjoy and I am passionate about. I have been trying to be better about taking breaks and the like. I could still improve on it, but I am better than I used to be in that regard. I have been taking things one project at a time rather than overthinking by putting together lists of ideas for potential FACs and related sources. That was just far too much for me. Wikipedia editing should be fun as it is more of a hobby after all. Aoba47 (talk) 04:10, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Aoba47 No worries at all :) funny, I actually never fancied "Dancing Through Life" on the OBC myself either. Although it's still not even in my top five from Wicked, I did really enjoy how they adapted it for the movie, about which I won't go into more detail. I probably won't put "Dancing" on if I had to choose a song to play, but now I won't feel as inclined to skip it if I'm listening to Jonathan Bailey's version. You make a very good point; critical acclaim is one thing, but the best feedback an adaptation or remake can possibly receive is from fans of the source material, and I have yet to speak to a Wicked fan who has less than positive things to say about the movie (although anyone who did would definitely make for an interesting discussion). As a staunch Michelle Yeoh fan, I've watched Crazy Rich Asians more times than I can count; she and Jon M. Chu are clearly magic together, and I hope they work together forever.
- I totally get that wholeheartedly. I recently did a major overhaul of my Belle article, which was the first GA I ever wrote back in 2012 (crazy, right?). The revision was a massive project that could've been really stressful, but I actually had so much fun updating it with newer sources while both adding and trimming content. There’s so much more research available now than I had access to back then, and my experience has definitely grown since 2012. Changedforbetter (talk) 15:13, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Changedforbetter: Congrats on all the work you have put into the Belle article. It is a bit surreal to think about the time that has passed since we have worked on a certain article. I can still remember where I was when I did a certain project, and it really brings into focus how much things have changed, both for myself and for the world as a whole. I believe that my first GA was back in 2016, back when I was in graduate school, and that honestly feels like a lifetime ago.
- I am glad that you had fun with it. That is always great to hear. I completely relate to how you feel about access to research. I kind of cringe when I look back at my older projects, as at the time, I was unaware of Newspapers.com, or newspaper archives in general, or the Wikipedia Library. I try to view it as a positive as it hopefully shows that I have grown as an editor. Aoba47 (talk) 17:44, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
All Money Is Legal
editHey! I was going through the RX archives and found your old request. That article you were requesting is part of the section titled "Summer Music Preview" from the July 2000 (#130) issue. You can see it at the top of this table of contents I found online. You can also see it in this archived eBay listing, although the full size photo is gone by now. I don't have access to this issue, unfortunately, but as you correctly noted, Google Books has May–August 2000 issues indexed and with some perseverance you can get full text. On that note, the ref number 19 in All Money Is Legal is supposed to be this article, but it actually links to an unrelated Vibe magazine's article? I wanted to remove it, but decided to ask first in case I'm missing something.
Another thing: the Open Music Library article Bruce1ee linked in the RX request is a different article. The one you requested was a preview, while that one is a full review from the November 2000 issue. I have access to this issue and can send you a scan of this review if needed. AstonishingTunesAdmirer 連絡 14:20, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- @AstonishingTunesAdmirer: Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Apologies for that mistake. I am not entirely sure how the Vibe link ended up in that citation, but it probably happened when I was trying to correct issues with the Vibe citations in general. It appears that most if not all of Vibe magazine was pulled from Google Books, and that was how I sourced it for the FAC. I believe that I have corrected this mistake.
- I have also moved up that Vibe citation to the correct place as I believe the Internet Archive version is more helpful and easier to access than going to an archived version of Google Books. Feel free to change anything in the article. Hopefully, there are not any other citations errors, but I would be more than okay and very grateful if you changed any (or brought them to my attention if you want me to change it instead).
- I would greatly appreciate a scan of the review. Would you need me to email you first so you can sent it to me? It would be a nice resource to have in general. I do not see myself working on music articles for a while, but it would be good to have if I have ever return to this topic in particular or if an editor has any questions about what is cited in the article. Thank you again, and sorry for the trouble. Aoba47 (talk) 23:01, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, no worries. Yeah, 3 years ago its publisher removed Vibe entirely from Google Books. Most of the issues from the 90s were already archived, but the vast majority of the issues from the 2000s are gone (other than couple pages here and there that were archived from Wikipedia articles, as well as search-only versions still available at Google Books that require a non-trivial amount of "fishing"). I was unsure about linking these archived issues in the articles, but another editor convinced me that it's fine. It's certainly more convenient than using Web Archive snapshots of Google Books. As for the scans, since it's only couple pages, I can upload them to Imgur and send you the link directly. And well, if you decide to return to music articles at some point in the future, I would be happy to help in whatever way I can! Especially if it's about 90s hip-hop/R&B. Despite all the roadblocks, I'm slowly expanding the library of sources available to me, but I can only use so much of it. AstonishingTunesAdmirer 連絡 00:26, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
- @AstonishingTunesAdmirer: Thank you for the email. I received the link and I was able to open it without any issue. It is a shame whenever things get removed to the point that it is harder to access. I am sure there are a lot of layers to this kind of decision, but I have thought about getting into archiving as a career because I do think that preservation and access are really important as things could easily get lost, even in this digital age. I will definitely let you know if I ever return to music articles in the future. I can for sure see myself working on 90s hip-hop/R&B.
- Just out of curiosity, but do you have any favorite singers or acts from that time period? I have always gravitated toward more obscure artists as I just find stories about people who are seemingly so close to success or stardom just do not make it after making an album. It would be nice to work on articles more so about music that I actually listen to in my spare time. Nothing against the songs that I have worked on of course. Aoba47 (talk) 20:24, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
- From that era? I think it's mostly hip-hop, other genres would be either before or after. And I guess it's mostly popular acts, like Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, The Notorious B.I.G., along with slightly less popular these days acts like Gravediggaz, EPMD or Big L. And if we go beyond the 90s, I love Deltron 3030 and Cannibal Ox's The Cold Vein. I will probably work on both of these articles at some point in the future, assuming I can find sources about the recording processes. Also Soundbombing II, which I didn't know about until I stumbled upon its one-line stub (and to make things worse, it's also not available on the streaming services).I found quite a lot of other music while working on these articles, since I usually listen to whatever I'm working on. Now this is what I love about working on these articles. In a way, I use all these reviews for their original purpose, learning about "new" music. The type of music that is endangered. All the popular albums get attention decades later. But those albums that received couple reviews on release and were quickly forgotten? Now add to that the fact that these reviews are not available to the vast majority of readers (because the publishers are seemingly not interested in preservation, see the Vibe situation and this), and you get what I can only describe as a tragedy. An entire generation of music is now locked in these publications and is slowly dying. After I realized that and after I kept seeing misinformation online, even from journalists who are supposed to fact check (but can't, because they don't have access to the offline sources either, hah), I decided that I should do something about that. And now I'm doing something: searching online, bugging people who can help me, slowly improving whatever I can on Wikipedia (which is usually the main source of information for people). Then we also have albums that "aren't even accorded the respect of having a Wikipedia entry of their own". Which is strange, because I always assumed English Wikipedia has articles about pretty much every relevant album. Nope. After another editor suggested that I should note if a reviewed album is missing an article, I made this page. I haven't finished it yet, but it's already obvious we are missing many less popular albums. For some of them, it's actually because of these reviews. The magazines were powerful enough to ruin careers, like with these guys. Or these guys. And I'm sure for most of these albums there were some interesting stories behind them. Like an album recorded entirely in jail, with smuggled equipment (this article did exist, but I think only because nobody noticed the lonely AllMusic review doing the heavy lifting). Can't wait to learn these stories. AstonishingTunesAdmirer 連絡 00:50, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- @AstonishingTunesAdmirer: Unfortunately, I am not surprised that some publishers would prevent preservation, particularly if it means free access to these resources. I agree with your sentiment that coverage and information on "an entire generation of music" is being made more inaccessible. It is sad that so much information can just be taken out of existence. I think similar things are happening with different areas of music and other types of media in general as well. I have seen more discussions surrounding lost media over the years, and it is a shame that regardless of that and other factors, media can still become lost, either on purpose or due to unforeseen circumstances. In a similar train of thought, I used to do a lot of work on obscure television shows, and I hope that my work on those was able to preserve the sources and relevant information.
- Most of the focus does tend to go to the really popular albums (or even those that are really hated) to the point that others from the same time period can slip through the cracks. I share your feelings when it comes to misinformation online. I can understand how some journalists would be frustrated on not having access to the original sources. I wish that journalists handled that better, but I agree that it is important to see it from their perspective as well. It is tough, but it is also not a simple situation. I have had some interesting experiences with getting access to sources. The one that stands out the most to me was having to buy a scan from an issue of Sister 2 Sister to use for "Laundromat".
- It is fun to hear about the stories about how an album was made, particularly when they are not as well-known. There are some 90's albums that I'd love to learn more about like stuff like Street Faërie for instance. I tend to listen to more R&B than hip hop. That being said, I could see myself working on more Amil articles in the future. I do love listening to this YouTube channel on unreleased or "underrated" R&B songs. It could be a good source of inspiration for whenever I do get back into music articles, although I do not see that happening for a long time to be honest. I am just finding more enjoyment lately with other areas of Wikipedia.
- Best of luck with your work. I admire and respect your passion. It is honestly inspiring. It is interesting what does and does not have Wikipedia articles. The article from The Quietus is interesting so thank you for the link. Somewhat related, I am particularly proud of my work on Manos Arriba, which is a Spanish-language EP that I loved when it came out on the iTunes Store. I doubt most people remembered it. I think that we all hope that our work on Wikipedia will make information more accessible to more people. Wikipedia has its issues, but I believe that this represents the best aspects of this site. Just a bunch of people trying to make the Internet a better place and provide more access to information. Aoba47 (talk) 03:23, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, I've heard of the lost media community. They are doing amazing work too. Last year I found out about a group of people who document everything related to Kanye West. I even shared with them a couple of reviews I've managed to find. Turns out that his MTV interview, that turned into a famous reaction GIF, is now seemingly lost forever, because nobody backed it up in 2010. So it's still happening today. It's possibly even worse, because we expect things to stay on the internet forever. I also befriended a guy who is collecting these music magazines. He actually made that scan I sent you earlier. Our goals mostly align and he also values preservation, so having such ally in this battle against time is invaluable.I know for a fact that my work is useful. I've seen my prose copied across the internet. And if it helps at least one other person (presumably it was useful if they copied it), it's already great. Then, last year I expanded Donuts to include a different account of its recording process. Fast forward half a year, Rolling Stone is writing that "its creation story is up for debate". Now, I can't prove that it's because of me, the journalist could have read the book too, but I hadn't seen any other journalist talk about it prior to that.Thank you for your kind words! I might be passionate about this, but when it comes to writing articles it's the work of prolific authors like you that I'm learning from. I hope to see more of your amazing articles, regardless of topics. Maybe it will inspire me to work on a former featured article too. AstonishingTunesAdmirer 連絡 12:39, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- That is awesome. I hope that our work helps journalists, and people in general, to have greater access to primary sources so they can verify the information for themselves. It is wild that even in the digital age, we can still have lost media. It reminds me of when Tumblr had its purge, which I am sure resulted in a lot of content being forever lost, or when media like Infinity Train is taken off streaming services and digital retailers. I think that these moments emphasize the importance of physical media, and it is always cool to hear about people like your friend who collect music magazines. Thank you for your kind words, and I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future as well. It is always good to learn and be inspired by one another. Best of luck with your future projects!
Hi
editWith help from Bones and a copyeditor I tried cleaning up Tidus, deleting the weakest sources ever in reception. Ryo Sakazaki also became GA (the character was made by the same creator of Street Fighter so that's why it's similar and kinda controversial.) and now I nominated Yuri Sakazaki as there were strong sources about her being one of the earliest female fighting game characters. I was planning Killua Zoldyck in the future too considering some strong sources about his personality. I hope you are enjoying your time. Cheers. Tintor2 (talk) 21:43, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Tintor2: Thank you for the message. Congrats on all of your work so far and for the GA promotion. Best of luck with the GAN for Yui Sakazaki and with your future work on Killua Zoldyck. I really should work on an article about a video game or manga/anime character one of these days. My favorite genre is JRPGs and although I think that I would enjoy working on a Final Fantasy character, I do not want to interfere with anyone's work. It would be fun to research a Tales character. As for anime/manga, I have been getting into Yu-Gi-Oh! a lot lately, so that would be cool. I have a lot of manga that I keep meaning to read so maybe that will inspire something down the line. Maybe one day, I will tackle a more popular or well-known character in general. Anyway, I am always glad to hear from you so feel free to message me anytime. I am enjoying my time, and I am glad that I have taken a step back from reviewing for a while as I think that is helpful for me. I have just been working on my own project and things outside of Wikipedia. I hope everything is going well with you, and have a great week! Aoba47 (talk) 00:47, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- I once tried making a Laguna article but I merged due to GA topic Tintor2 (talk) 00:51, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Tintor2: That is a shame, but it does happen sometimes. I can relate as I have worked on a few articles that I ended up either merging or having deleted. Final Fantasy VIII is one of my favorite video games, and I love Laguna. I have a greater appreciation for the character as I have gotten older. It is awesome that Characters of Final Fantasy VIII is a FA though. I have seen an editor working on several GAs for the Final Fantasy games and characters that I would be interested in (VII, VIII, and X). If I ever feel really inspired to work on something in that area, I am sure that I could message them first to check. Doing a villain like Seymour Guado could be fun. Right now, I am just taking it one project at a time. Aside from Killua Zoldyck, do you have any future project ideas in mind? Aoba47 (talk) 01:18, 18 March 2025 (UTC)

This is the sandbox if you are curious.Tintor2 (talk) 01:23, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Nice! Thank you for the link. Aoba47 (talk) 01:26, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
So far. My recent experience with character articles involved recent famous new characters like Frieren (character), Maomao (The Apothecary Diaries) and Taro Sakamoto as their three series are kinda new and the three protagonists stand out a lot. I also tried creating one really old character Joe Yabuki who originates in 1968 as one of Japan's first antiheroes and sport protagonists. Joe was so iconic that he inspired a series named Megalo Box where I also created his successor Gearless Joe. In other famous cast of characters, I was interested in created one article for Kaneda from Akira (film) but the only commentary I find is his iconic bike slow which has been parodied dozens of times in media. There was Castlevania character that even the Netflix staff praised but has only appeared in two games to generate notable feedback too.Tintor2 (talk) 01:25, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Tintor2: That sounds really cool. I enjoyed the manga for The Apothecary Diaries a great deal so I will definitely check out the Maomao article in the future. It does sound fun to mix it up between older and newer characters. I think that kind of variety helps to keep editing more engaging. I have mostly worked on more obscure characters (and articles in general), but it would be a good challenge to work on a more well-known and influential character one day. It is always a bit of a disappointment to do research for an article only to find a few sources. I have been there several times before. Aoba47 (talk) 02:38, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
Satsu
editI hope this isn't like, adding any pressure on you, but I'm keeping up with your work on the Satsu article with great anticipation. I'm sure it will be divine. :D If I may offer one suggestion, you can always put the sentence about Satsu's voice actress as a note. PanagiotisZois (talk) 19:00, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: Thank you for the kind words! I am always happy to hear from you. Your suggestion makes sense to me. I agree that it would work better as a note since there is not any further information on the voice actress and her role in the motion comic. I will change into a note and will likely put it in the infobox when I get to that stage, like how the voice actors are cited in the Jill Valentine infobox. I have been enjoying the process with this one. I have definitely put far too much pressure on myself in the past for other projects, but I am having fun with this one. I hope that everything is going well with you and that you are having a great end to your weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 22:36, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm glad to hear you're having fun with this project. There have been a few instances where I was working on something and it felt like a chore. Part of me thought, "Oh, it'd be fun if X article was complete", but if I'm not having fun with the process, why bother, you know? Anyway, I'm kind of taking a bit of space of Wikipedia during this period, though I'd like to gradually work on the Rachel Foster sequel as information comes out. I also recently started watching Ugly Betty. A really fun show! Seeing as you worked on "A Nice Day for a Posh Wedding" a few years ago, I've thought about getting some of the other episodes to GA (or even FA) status in the future. Particularly the ones that are Marc-centric. PanagiotisZois (talk) 22:44, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I relate to that feeling. I have often gone back to improve my past GAs and felt like I was working on them more out of a sense of obligation rather than actual enjoyment. I am looking forward to the Rachel Foster sequel. As I have said before, it was very unexpected, and I am curious about it. I am sure your work on it will be great. I feel that I am more excited about that than the actual game.
- I remember watching Ugly Betty when it first aired. It is a lot of fun. My favorites were definitely Marc and Amanda. I would highly recommend the web series that they did for both characters (Mode After Hours). If you are looking for a suggestion for a Marc-centric episode, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" would be a good choice. would imagine there would be a good deal of discussion around that. It feels like ages ago when I worked on the wedding episode lol.
- I know that you mentioned Tara in our past Buffy conversation, and I did just re-read one of Whedon's responses about it. He was asked about it again after he suggested that he may kill off Satsu. I felt that it was a pretty disappointing answer on his part, but I appreciate that the interviewer at least asked him about it. I do get that he liked killing off his characters, but I don't know. Could just be me. Aoba47 (talk) 23:19, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- "sense of obligation". Exactly! It may not sound great to say this, but at the end of the day, it's not like I'm being paid on Wikipedia. If I ain't gonna enjoy myself, peace out. That's how I see it nowadays.
- And thank you for being more excited about my work on The Fading of Nicole Wilson than the actual game. XD It's tone seems quite different than the original game, which I have to say I like. Rachel Foster seemed more like a claustrophobic Shining-esque experience, while Nicole Wilson seems to be leaning more into cultish / paranormal stuff; almost gothic, with its emphasis on decay. Funnily enough, the first game did imply near the end that ghosts may have actually been present at the Timberline Hotel (particularly when Nicole walks through a hallway and all the doors close at the same time by themselves) so who knows?
- As for Ugly Betty, I've reached early season 3. Shame that Alexis left, as I really liked her; Henry not so much, lol. "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is definitely one of the episodes I would like to work on at some point. Though I have to say, although I do like Marc and I'm glad he's in the show, it kinda sucks that so few episodes across season 1 & 2 focused on him and his sexuality in a meaningful way. Other than the episode with his mom, season 1 doesn't have anything else to offer. And even in season 2, you only really have episodes 5-7 that feature him and Cliff. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how the reason of season 3 & then 4 unfolds.
- As for Whedon, he did very much seem to enjoy killing off his characters. Especially when they finally reached a state where they were happy. :/ I guess killing off Tara was one thing, and, to be fair, it did serve the story. But then to kill of Satsu too, would have been completely unnecessary in my opinion. And definitely in bad taste, following Tara's death. Thankfully, though I'm not surprised, they decided to just throw Satsu off the map, rather than kill her off. PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:38, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: Agreed. After all, Wikipedia is a volunteer service. It should be about having fun. I am interested in the overall tone for Nicole Wilson and I think that it is a clever way to go for a sequel. It reminds me of the old Ghosthunter television shows.
- I was also disappointed when Alexis left. I think that they really struggled with her character since she first came out in "In or Out". I think she had a lot more potential. I have also been a big fan of Rebecca Romijn so I just wanted to see more of her on the show. I will not spoil anything. Let me know what you think of the later seasons. One of these days, I should rewatch it. I really enjoyed the ending so it helped me to better appreciate the show overall.
- I can understand Whedon's perspective to a certain extent, but I agree that joking about killing Satsu, even though he knew about all the criticism from Tara's death, just felt weird. Tara's death did serve the story, but I think she had a lot more potential (which I guess is my running theme for this message lol). I was disappointed, but also not surprised, that Satsu was tossed aside. I think the Buffy comics really struggled with developing original supporting characters in general. Aoba47 (talk) 00:53, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
- Late reply, sorry. I'm at about the halfway point of season 3, but I'm kinda taking a small break from Ugly Betty. I agree that Alexis' presentation could be a bit inconsistent at times. In certain instances, she was presented as a pretty sympathetic and reasonable figure, while at other times she's an almost cold-hearted manipulator who can't get rid of Daniel soon enough. And then you look at what her character is like in season 1, and then what's she like in season 2. Girl... did ALL of her former personality disappear alongside her memories? I mean, I kinda get that she had amnesia and forgot her father being a raging transphone, which is part of what drove her to fake her death, but still. Also, even if she forgot her transition, why was she acting as if she didn't already identify as a woman? I may have to rewatch that part of the show, but I remember thinking it was odd.
- Anyways, as for season 3, I have to say, I'm really loving that the show dropped Henry. He wasn't exactly a bad character, but it was clear her and Betty were going nowhere once Charlie showed up pregnant, so... And it's great that they're actually focusing on her desire to become a magazine editor. The thing she wanted at the START of the series, but was then sidelined throughout season 2 in favour of her love life... Also, I LOVE that Amanda moved in with her and the two of them became friends. I'm only at episode 10, but I'm aching to see more of that. :) I'll probably have more to write once I'm done with this season.
- As for the Buffy comics, I only ever read Season Eight, and that was around 2011-12, so I don't remember the story much. But I do faintly remember that while the season introduced many new characters, almost none of them actually became main characters, you know? Nor have any long-term impact on the story. I mean, just look at Satsu herself. In Season Eight, she appears in about half of the season's issues, yet after that point, she makes just one appearance in Season Ten and is the gone. To a degree, I understand them putting the focus on pre-established characters like the Scoobies and whatnot, especially since those would be the characters that the fans were most invested in and interested in reading about, but it is unfortunate that they didn't seem to care much about the comics-original ones. PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:52, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- Sidenote. Your work on the Satsu article? Gag. Could easily become a featured article and join the ranks of Iron Man and Black Widow as one of the few articles on a comic book character to achieve FA status. PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:54, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: No apologies necessary. I hope everything is going well with you. I agree that it was odd. I feel like the writers gave Alexis amnesia to try for a clean slate with the character as a lot of her development even in the first season did not make that much sense. As the "Masked Lady", she was shown as being even more ruthless than Wilhelmina and none of that really carried over into post-reveal stories, and I do not think the writers really knew how to handle her relationships with her family. And just to be clear, I say this as someone who loves Ugly Betty and really enjoys Alexis as a character. If anyone had to get amnesia, I actually think Daniel would have been a better pick as we could have seen Alexis try to handle that.
- I was also glad that they dropped Henry. I remember the storyline with him and Charlie feeling like it was going on forever and had no real purpose. I get that it, and season two as a whole, was affected by the writers strike, but I think the show struggled with pacing at times. I also preferred the focus on Betty's dreams of being an editor, and Amanda and Betty as a duo is just fantastic. Making them roommates was so smart. Amanda was my favorite character. I loved her relationships with everyone. I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the later half of the season. It could be a fun excuse to do a rewatch.
- I wish that the comics-original characters got more development, and that Buffy had more of them in general. In my opinion, there were some genuinely solid options if more room was given to them. I remember enjoying "Swell" and Satsu's friendship with Kennedy, and thinking that could be a nice way to move her into a new direction rather than just abandoning her. Her reappearance in Season Ten seems random (as she became a member of the US Army?!) and generic. I wonder if this would have been better handled if the comics were formatted as an ongoing series rather than trying to emulate a television series, but it just seems like there was more interest in writing the pre-existing characters. Other than Satsu, I think Melaka Fray is the only comics-original character notable enough for a separate Wikipedia article, and she had her own limited series before Season Eight.
- Thank you for the kind words about the article! I am proud of it. I have been enjoying the process. I am glad that I organized the citations and made notes in a separate document. That made everything way more manageable and far less stressful. It will be fun to go back through the comics to double-check the plot information. I have so much respect and admiration for all the time and work put into the Iron Man and Black Widow articles. Whenever I get everything ready for a peer review, I will let you know. I might start there before going directly into a FAC. Aoba47 (talk) 03:23, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- Right?? As the Masked Lady, Alexis seemed to be the one pulling all the strings, with Wilhelmina answering to her. And then after her introduction, poor. Alexis seems to be the one leaning on Wilhelmina. I'll admit, I prefer Alexis' post-reveal personality, which humanizes her, but it is jarring.
- There's definitely more I wanna say about the show, but I should at least finish season 3.
- As for Satsu, I do remember thinking the "Swell" issue was interesting. Perhaps I'll use some of the sources from the Satsu article to make one for the issue. Personally, I liked them separating the comics into seasons, but even if they hadn't, I think the main issue is that the writers didn't seem to care much about expanding upon the comics original characters.
- Either way, when you decide to take the Satsu article to the next step, I'd love to help. :D I have considered on working on a comics character myself, but I'm not sure there's any character I love enough to spend possibly weeks doing research and then writing it. Probably an X-Man, but I've taken a break from the comics from some time. PanagiotisZois (talk) 19:01, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I also prefer Alexis's post-reveal personality. I think there was a lot of potential with her taking on Bradford Meade's role as it could have provided that balance with her being more vulnerable and likely while also making harder and possibly unlikable choices as the head of a company. I am looking forward to your reaction to the rest of the season and the show as a whole.
- I can understand the preference for the season formatting with the Buffy comics as it did provide more structure. I agree that regardless of the formatting, there would have been a preference for the show characters over any of the comics-original ones. I am looking forward to going back through the comics to write the plot section. I have already caught a rather silly mistake that I made in the Satsu article.
- I know what you mean with the last part. For the all the time and work put into an article, it is best to pursue something that you really love or are interested in. The X-Men are a great team, and you have done excellent work on articles about some of the characters. Aoba47 (talk) 19:54, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- By the way, I recently read "Swell", and I still enjoy it. I understand the criticisms against it, but I really liked the connection between Satsu and Kennedy. I thought it was nice to see Satsu being the leader of her own squad and really thriving in that role, which was mostly ignored in the criticism and even the overall analysis of the character. Aoba47 (talk) 17:34, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
PanagiotisZois (talk) 22:44, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

editHi, @Aoba47.
I am thinking right now that I am being an uncomfortable mate writing here, but I need somewhat-urgent help with my current FAC because it could be closed the next three days. Only if you see you can contribute in something, you comments are hugely welcome. If yes, I promise that I will try to make it up to you with whatever you tell me that you need help. Thanks for reading. Santi (talk) 01:49, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

editThank you today for Lady Blue (TV series), "about an American detective and action-adventure television series, with David Gerber as executive producer, which originally aired for one season on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) network from September 15, 1985 to January 25, 1986. The series revolves around Chicago detective Katy Mahoney (Jamie Rose) and her violent methods of handling cases. The supporting cast includes Danny Aiello, Ron Dean, Diane Dorsey, Bruce A. Young, Nan Woods, and Ricardo Gutierrez. After the pilot aired, Lady Blue was criticized by several watchdog organizations (particularly the National Coalition on Television Violence), as the most violent show on television."! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:24, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the kind words! It is honestly quite surreal to look back on this article as it feels like a lifetime ago since I worked on it. I think that it shows how far I have grown as an editor since then, but I know that I should not be too hard on myself for my past work. Aoba47 (talk) 21:49, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
RE: Satsu
editThank you for your comments about Morph. I'll try to go through them in the next few days. However, I think I would like to rewrite/expand certain sections with additional sources in the near-future. Primarily by using the documentary book from 2017 and some YouTube interviews.
BTW, did you notice that we both have peer reviews on characters that are queer, and in a way inversions of one another regarding their mediums? Lol. Satsu is a character originating in comics that are sequels to a TV series, while Morph is a character originating in a TV series that adapted comics. PanagiotisZois (talk) 18:15, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: Thank you for the message. I am glad that you were able to find more sources. I will be more than happy to look through the article once the revisions are done. If you would like, I could either collapse any of my comments or move them to the peer review's talk page while these sections are being rewritten. This is just an idea of course, as I could always keep my comments up.
- I did notice that both characters are queer, but I did not pick up on how they are inversions of each other when it comes to medium. That is really cool. It is interesting to see how characters are added through adaptations. Both characters are also known for being in love with heterosexual characters, with Satsu loving Buffy and Morph loving Wolverine. I only thought about that after reading J. P. Karliak's comment about Morph having a relationship with Wolverine. I'd be curious on how Satsu and Morph would interact with each other. They'd probably be up to some comedic shenanigans lol.
- Best of luck with the revisions! Aoba47 (talk) 22:43, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- You're right! I didn't even realize they both had feelings for someone who's straight; and in Wolverine's case, WAY too into Jean. Maybe that's something they'd bond over and then get into comedic shenanigans. XD As for the peer review, I think I'll go through your comments, and then maybe close it. Most of the sources I have found are primarily about furthering the "Development" section about the original cartoon, so it's not like the entire article will be rewritten; thankfully.
- Sidenote, I finished episode 21 of Ugly Betty season 3. OMG! The baby was Christina's all along?! GAG. And the fact the previous episode raised the question, only to crush it, and then have this episode reveal Wilhelmina faked the results? And then Christina leaving, which was kinda emotional? Damn, these episodes were just a total whirlwind of emotions. (I couldn't help it and spoiled myself on this, so knowing that Christina will return in late season 4 did make her departure easier) Man, this season is SO much better than the second one. PanagiotisZois (talk) 09:27, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: That makes sense to me. Best of luck with editing that section. I a glad that you enjoyed season three. I was also a bit sad that Christina left, but I think that they struggled with where to go with the character. I am glad that she had a satisfying ending, and not to spoil too much, but I enjoyed her brief return in season four. I think that season three did a good job with course-correcting certain storylines, like having Betty join YETI and having Wilhelmina and Daniel work together as co-editors-in-chief. Aoba47 (talk) 19:18, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree. I think one issue with Christina in season 3 partly had to due with the show moving locations, meaning that Ashley Jensen had to be absent from many episodes. Granted, even in the first two where she's present in most episodes, only some of them actually give her a storyline. Like, after season 1 reveals she's married, it takes until the season 2 for her husband to show up.
- I do think that the show had issues with treating her her as a main character instead of just supporting. "Struggling", as you said. Shame they didn't try to at least show her pursuing her dreams of becoming a fashion designer. That could have been a good storyline for her after the whole baby fiasco storyline was wrapped up. PanagiotisZois (talk) 19:31, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I hope that I do not sound too negative. I love Christina as a character, and Ashley Jensen does a great job. I agree that we should have seen her actually becoming a fashion designer. It was really only teased for a few episodes in the first season. I actually thought there was a lot of storyline potential for when she starting being Wilhelmina's "minions". I think you will enjoy her appearance in season four though. I was so happy that she came back, and it is just a fun episode overall. It was nice to see that she was still close with Betty. Aoba47 (talk) 21:24, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thought I'd reply to this comment, lol. I've decided to take a break from watching Ugly Betty, but I'm at season 4, episode 7; I think. Basically, when Daniel finally leaves the Order of the Phoenix thing. Have to say, you were 100% right about the latter two seasons being better than the second one. One character whose journey I really want to see until the end is of course Betty herself, but I'm also interested in Marc; I'll probably have a LOT to say about him once I'm done. Amanda's character arc is one I was very surprised by, as she seems to have a consistent one of finding her identity; first with finding out she's adopted, trying to learn more about Fey, figuring out who her dad is, etc. It's a shame season 3 didn't delve more into that, but at least season 4 has her being a bit more emotionally mature in her relationships with Matt (who sucks) and Betty.
- Sidenote, I know that the current progress of the Satsu article is probably a bit strange(?), to put it nicely, but I just wanted to reiterate how wonderful your work on the article is. It truly is spectacular. Who would have thought that so much information would exist about little old Satsu? XD All this work on the article the past few weeks has gotten me in the mood to rewatch the series and reread Season Eight; or just skip straight to the comics. Anyway, again, amazing work. - @PanagiotisZois: Thank you for the response. I am glad that you are enjoying Ugly Betty. For the third and fourth seasons, I think that they listened to the negative feedback from the second season and adjusted things accordingly. I love that Marc and Amanda have character arcs and change and grow so much from the first season. I agree that I wish we saw more development for Amanda's storylines in the third season, but without spoiling anything, she gets more in the later half of the fourth season. I would be curious to hear what you think of Matt after you are done with the series.
- The progress with the FAC did take me by surprise. I am trying to engage with the comments in a productive manner and revise the article accordingly. I reached out to the FAC coordinators out of a genuine desire to get more feedback so it was a bit discouraging to see that being taken as a negative thing or as a way to shut down criticism. I have taken a bit of a step back from the FAC and the article to clear my head and mentally prepare myself for everything. And thank you for the kind words! I am really proud of the article, and your comments really do mean a lot! I am still honestly surprised that Satsu was able to get so much coverage. I wish that more of it went beyond her relationship with Buffy, but I can understand why that is the focus. That relationship and Satsu as a character may be my favorite part of Season Eight and the Buffy comics as a whole.
- I have also been thinking of rewatching the series. It has been ages since I last rewatched it. It would be fun to reread Season Eight. I went through bits and pieces of it for the article, and although I have a mixed reaction to the season as a whole, there are parts of it that I really love. I actually got a bit emotional when rereading the last issue from the season. I have some trade paperbacks from Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Nine, from both the mainline Buffy comic and the Angel and Faith one, as well as some random single issue comics from different seasons. I should read them. I just remember being so disappointed by a specific storyline from Season Nine that I dropped the comics altogether, but I do not want to spoil that.
- After doing the Satsu article, I have been thinking of doing some fan fiction and/or fan art. I have been considering doing more transformative fandom stuff for years now. Maybe, this will finally be the kick to make me do it lol. But, yeah, the FAC is a lot of a lot, but I am trying my best to keep positive and to take what I can from it. Thank you again! I will just wait and see what happens with the FAC and respond to the best of my ability. Aoba47 (talk) 00:01, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- I think we'll have a lot to talk about once I'm done with Ugly Betty, lol. 😂
- As for Satsu, I was honestly not sure if that use was trolling or new to FAC. Since when do character articles have section on personality? I guess a positive is that you managed to make some more additions to the article. I'm glad that I was able to help, and I really do think you've done a great job. I'm sure it will be fine.
- And I agree that it's unfortunate the comics didn't develop her character more. Or those of the characters introduced in the comics. As for season 9 and after, I've never read those comics. Though I am aware that Buffy's abortion storyline got some attention; and the fact it was actually the Buffybot. Is that the storyline that you found disappointing? PanagiotisZois (talk) 22:17, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I look forward to hearing your Ugly Betty thoughts. I really enjoyed the series finale. I remember seeing it when it first aired, which honestly feels like a lifetime ago lol.
- For the FAC, I am going to assume good faith. I have done further work on the article. I really like the sketch in particular. I am going to step back from the FAC for a few days to clear my head.
- It was the "abortion" storyline. At the time, I was hoping that Season Nine would course-correct from the things that I disliked in Season Eight, and with this storyline, I just knew the comics were not for me.
- I think Melaka Fray was the comic-original character who got the most development, but she did have a comic book series. There could be others who appeared after I stopped reading though. I would imagine that these kinds of issues happen with a lot of tie-ins, as attention and focus are more likely allotted returning characters over original ones. It makes sense on a business/marketing level, but on a creative level, it is a shame.
- The Buffy comics are still fun though. This article has definitely motivated me to read them again. I might just skip over the whole robot part lol. I think I have a single issue comic from that arc lol. It is a shame as I actually really loved the BuffyBot from the show. Aoba47 (talk) 00:19, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- Never heard that a characterization or personality section are required for FAC before lol. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 21:19, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- Agreed. I will just have to wait and see what happens. I have tried to address this to the best of my ability. Aoba47 (talk) 01:08, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
Beyond the Gates
editOn another note, since I know you like soap operas, or at least Passions, and your favourite family from that show was the Russells, who were Black, have you by any chance seen Beyond the Gates? First daily soap opera created in the US in more than 20 years (took them long enough) and it primarily focuses on a Black family. PanagiotisZois (talk) 13:14, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I have not seen Beyond the Gates yet, but I would like to in the future. I should see where it is streaming. An actor from Passions (Daphnée Duplaix) is actually on Beyond the Gates, which I thought was cool. I hope other Passions actors appear on the show in the future. I lived in the Washington, D.C. area for a few years so it would be cool to watch a show set in that area, even though it is not filmed there lol. I would be curious on how the show does. I think that it is a shame that soap operas have largely fallen off. I am always disappointed whenever people use the word soap opera in a more negative connotation. It is a genre with a rich and deep history. By the way, have you checked out Beyond the Gates? I hope that it does well, as I would love to see a resurgence in soap operas. I am just terrible at keeping up with anything new lol. Aoba47 (talk) 13:46, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- Yes! She played Vincent Clarkson's alter ego! When I saw that I was like, "Oh, wow. She looks pretty different from that single image on his article. Much better too." Although I haven't seen Passions (yet), based on what I read from Eve's article, her actress gave a good performance, so it'd be nice if she popped up somewhere.
- I too am glad that there is a mini-resurgance of soaps, and have thought about watching some. I'm particularly interested in Port Charles. And although I'm not sure I'll ever get the chance to watch it, the murder storyline from Loving seems pretty interesting.
- As for Beyond the Gates, I have checked it out. I'm actually around episode 10. I did think episode 1 and 2 where a bit rough, as they were introducing the characters, and it was difficult for me to keep track of them all, their names, relationships to each other, and whatnot. But the moment episode 1 ended with that slap, I was like, "Now this is a soap opera." XD. Karla Mosley is without a doubt the best part of the show. I haven't gotten around to watching Bold & Beautiful yet, but I knew of her from when her character Maya was revealed to be transgender.
- I think you'll like the show. AND, it actually got renewed for a second season a few days ago, so clearly there's a soap opera market out there in the US waiting to be tapped. PanagiotisZois (talk) 13:53, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I would love to see Tracey Ross, who played Eve, go on Beyond the Gates, but I would say the same for pretty much any actor from Passions lol. I have always wanted to watch Port Charles, especially for its supernatural storylines, and the Loving murder storyline does sound intriguing. I am the most interested in Dark Shadows, which I have only seen in bits and pieces. It is fun and campy, and I just gravitate toward the more supernatural shows lol. Sunset Beach had some out-there storylines so that would be an interesting watch.
- I wish that soap operas were more accessible online. I understand how that would be difficult to implement as there are just so many episodes, but it would be cool if there was a centralized streaming service just for old soap operas. I know that would never happen though lol. A lot of Passions used to be on YouTube before those videos were taken down, likely due to copyright issues. I was disappointed by that, as it is not like the show is accessible anywhere else. There are a few storylines from Passions in particular that I would love to revisit.
- The start of a soap opera is always rough in my opinion. It is hard to introduce a large cast and set up their relationships. I am glad that you are enjoying it, and a slap is always a good staple for any soap opera lol. Soap operas are interesting in terms of representation, and I feel like that is unfortunately being forgotten over the years. I have read articles on their inclusion of Black characters and LGBT characters. They were not perfect of course, but I think there is a lot to say about it.
- I will check out Beyond the Gates in the future. I think that if they can figure out how to adapt the soap opera format and storytelling for a more modern audience without losing what makes them fun, there is a real chance for a resurgence. I want all the drama and the angst lol. I am happy that the show is getting a second season. I think that they will have an easier time now that the characters and overall world are now established. Aoba47 (talk) 14:35, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'm intrigued. What happens in Sunset Beach for you to say "out-there storylines"? Especially for a soap opera? XD
- And I fully agree. One of the things that prevents me (and I'm sure many others) from watching soap operas is not just there's thousands of episodes to watch - what TV Tropes calls Archive Panic - but also the fact that episodes are almost impossible to find. I mean, if I have to jump through one hoop after the other just to watch a series - especially one with so many episodes - then I'm just not gonna bother.
- As for soaps having a rough start, I think this applies somewhat to any show with a large cast. A few episodes to properly introduce everyone, and then things truly start going. Beyond the Gates thankfully doesn't take long to establish everyone and quickly has the story going. I still have about 30 more episodes to watch (lol) but I'm pretty satisfied thus far and happy that a show I'm "investing" in has a bright future ahead of it.
- Also, and I say this without having seen all that many soap operas, I do think I get what you mean about a modern soap opera retaining its soapy aspects but for a modern audience. Like, Dani's hsuabdn leaving them for a younger woman he had an affair with who was his daughter's friend is treated by everyone with the gravity such a situation would cause. And characters also acknowledge that Dani slapping her at the end of episode 1 very much constitutes assault and, while understandable, was not the proper way for her to react. IDK, maybe I'm mistaking what you meant, but it feels like this is a way of making a soap opera for modern-day audiences. PanagiotisZois (talk) 22:30, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I first heard about Sunset Beach for the storyline in which Virginia Harrison impregnated Vanessa Hart with a baster with stolen sperm. Admittedly, there are crazier soap opera storylines, but I remember being surprised by it when I was younger lol. The show ran the gamut in terms of stories, having a serial killer one based on Scream and a tsunami one based on The Poseidon Adventure. I have not seen this soap opera, but I can appreciate that it made big swings, even if the series only lasted for three years.
- It is a shame that we can still have lost media despite all the technology available to preserve it. I actually debated on getting a Master of Library and Information Science degree to do archival and preservation work. That is one of the many reasons I respect the Internet Archive so much. I have a lot of silly streaming service ideas that would never happen, like one for one-season shows lol. I recently found out that Swans Crossing, which has Sarah Michelle Gellar, is available on Tubi so there is at least some attempts to preserve these types of shows.
- Older soap did take on serious subject matters, such as rape, race, and sexuality, in a serious way. They have likely not aged particularly well, but I do think there were attempts to seriously discuss these topics and show their impact. I was more so thinking how genres in general always have to adapt, particularly to fit with the audience's changing preferences and perspective with writing, acting, and types of storytelling. I did not have a clear idea in mind. Sorry for rambling lol. I just hope that soap operas can keep the fun and hook a new generation on the genre. I did remember when I was younger, I would think up ideas for soap operas that I would do lol. That feels like an entire lifetime ago, and in a way, it really was lol.
- I am glad that you are enjoying Beyond the Gates. It is always great to get invested in something new, especially when it is successful. There have been a lot of times that I got invested in something that did not last long, like Pushing Daisies which I just rewatched recently. I wish that streaming services in general would give shows more time to develop and attract a fanbase, but that has always been an issue even before streaming. Aoba47 (talk) 01:22, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- Starting from the bottom, I entirely agree with you. It sucks getting invested in a show, only for it to be cancelled, and this is a VERY prominent phenomenon nowadays. Granted, yes, many shows also got cancelled after 1 season 20 years ago (as most of UPN's dramas indicate, oof) but you often had a network renew multiple new shows in a single year. Plus, we often had shows go on for at least 5 years, easily and very often. 7th Heaven, Charmed, Smallville, Special Victims Unit, etc. I can't think of a single streaming series that went on for 10 seasons. And what's worse, not only do TV shows nowadays get cancelled left and right, but they also feature half the amount of episodes they used to (barely 10) and take twice as long to make. Ugh.
- Also, don't worry about "rambling". It's fun! There's no rule saying we can't use user talk pages as a messanging platform, lol. I understand the idea of a genre needing to make changes to keep up with audience expactations and whatnot. Horror for example often relief on suspense and jump scares, but after decades of all that, audiences got accustomed to such things. So horror movies took it a step further by amping the body count. I think this may have been one of the reasons the slasher genre took off after Halloween's release in 1978.
- I too am glad that things like the Internet Archive exist, though I'm not sure a streaming service solely for shows cancelled after 1 season would do well, lol. Cause like, if I was a customer, I'd be like, "oof, do I really want to put myself through the experience of falling in love with this world and characters, knowing it won't have a proper resolution?". Speaking of Swans Crossing, I had NO idea SMG's career didn't start with All My Children, lol. I always assumed that was her first major role in a television series, but seems not.
- Lastly, I'm adding the word "gamut" to my vocabulary, and what?! A Scream-inspired storyline in a soap opera? Naur... XDD PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:19, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: It still baffles me that streaming services wait so long to put together another season of something. Like it is crazy to me that Stranger Things has been out since 2016 and is going to have its fifth season this year. It does seem like streaming services favor either a miniseries or a show with a more limited amount of seasons. It could be because the budgets for these shows have grown so much, but it is odd that network television was able to consistently put out seasons of shows for decades without this issue. There is a lot that I do not really get about streaming though lol.
- Horror has done a great job with staying relevant and popular with audiences. I completely agree with your slasher example. Horror is not really for me and would never be my go-to genre, but I still have a lot of respect for it. Those movies really do take chances while still embracing what they are and having fun. I think that other genres could learn from them in a way.
- I enjoy one-season shows, but I know that I am the odd one out lol. I wish there were more accessible, but I appreciate whenever they are uploaded on YouTube. Recently, I was able to watch all of Thieves (this super random show from 2001) because of that, and I could easily see a show like that getting lost. I have seen bits and pieces of Swans Crossing and it is cute and fun (and the episodes are quite short). Fun is apparently my go-to word now lol.
- It is fun to see how different shows adapt these big popular cultures like Scream. It is interesting how many soap operas have used serial killer storylines. They were all probably inspired by Who shot J.R.? cliffhanger from Dallas. It makes for a good moment for audience engagement lol. I enjoy our conversations, and I am glad that you are okay with me rambling lol. Aoba47 (talk) 01:28, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- Funnily enough, Stranger Things is exactly the show I was thinking off, lol. I know the argument is that streaming shows tend to have high budgets and big-name stars attached to them, as an excuse as to why they take so long. And one could argue that the average streaming show nowadays is better than the average network show from 20-30 years ago. As in, there's a lot more emphasis on quality over quantity. But I'm not sure that's a good thing.
- Even if streaming shows are higher-quality than network shows were 20 years ago, having breaks between seasons that last more than a year, sometimes 2 or more, is simply not feasible; at least for American series. We went from shows having a break between seasons that lasted just a few months to multiple years. At some point, no matter how good a show is, audiences are just gonna get bored of waiting and move on. No wonder so many streaming shows get cancelled.
- And I know this may not sound great on my part, but there might be something wrong with putting too much emphasis on quality over quantity. People argue that it's a good thing we don't have "filler" episodes anymore, and streaming shows have every single episode "matter" and propel the story forward. But those "filler" episodes were part of what made shows successful. Giving some breathing room to showcase these characters, and relationships to each other. And, more importantly, those filler episodes also gave shows a higher episode count, ergo a longer duration of the season, and thus a shorter break from the end of one season to the start of the other.
- I know I'm probably sounding spoiled when I say this, but if you think about it, this current situation is also bad for the crew members. Before, these people knew they had a relatively consistent schedule/a job. Now, not so much.
- Anyway, sorry for rambling myself about all this, lol. I do agree that soap operas probably use serial killer storylines to sustain ratings. A murder mystery is something that always catches people's attention, and given that Sunset Beach aired around the time the first two Scream movies were released, it isn't that surprising. I didn't live throught this time period - more or less - but it seems that Scream had a huge impact on pop-culture. I was aware that it had a huge influence on the horror movie genre with movies like I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend, and even European productions like Swimming Pool; but I had no idea its influence also seeped into other genres/mediums like soap operas. PanagiotisZois (talk) 12:59, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: No need to apologize lol. I completely agree with you. In my opinion, filler is 100% needed for a television show as it allows viewers to get to know the characters, their relationships, and the overall world. I think it is weird whenever "filler" is used to indicate something is bad. I could understand the argument of having too many "filler" episodes, which would throw off the pacing of a season, but a lot of streaming shows feel more like the end.
- I miss longer seasons, but I think that even shorter seasons can include filler episodes or subplots to develop the characters and give everything the room to breath. I think Pushing Daisies is a great example of that. I also believe that filler can be subjective. For Pokémon, I know some people refer to any episode without a gym battle as filler, but I disagree as I watch the show more so for Ash Ketchum's random adventure with his friends. A lot of my favorite episodes from shows are the filler ones. I worry that something like the new Buffy show would suffer from this as filler and balance were so important to the original show.
- I have also seen that kind of argument about why streaming shows take so long in between seasons, but it is odd when there are examples like Mad Men or Breaking Bad that have critical acclaim and shorter seasons and were still able to create new episodes at a regular pace. I do not think that you sound spoiled at all. I have had the same thoughts. Even with streaming shows I love, like Dead Boy Detectives, I wanted more time with the characters and the world. I would also say it is hard to get attached to streaming shows when so many get canceled after one season. It is easier to just tune out at that point.
- Unfortunately, I think actors, writers, directors, and the crew behind television shows and movies are getting more and more exploited and unfairly treated lately. It always makes me sad to hear about those kinds of situations. It does not help that online discussions about streaming has been so toxic.
- It is always interesting to see what influences other genres. It makes me think of how something like Buffy was so influential even though it was never a ratings juggernaut on the level of something like Friends. Passions had a Wicked-esque storyline later in its run (complete with its own songs) funnily enough lol. Just out of curiosity, have you kept up with any new streaming shows lately? Aoba47 (talk) 22:04, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- Funnily enough, even a show that mostly "filler" can still be great. I mean, I love Charmed, but especially season 2 had next to 0 ongoing story arcs; at least something akin to a myth/seasonal arc. And despite all that, a very enjoyable season and series. As you said, it "allows viewers to get to know the characters, their relationships, and the overall world". I also hope the Buffy revival doesn't have every episode be "plot-centric".
- Speaking of shows with short seasons, my mind often goes to Orphan Black, and how that show had one season, always with 10 episodes, air every single year from 2013 to 17. And even before that, True Blood also had one season per year.
- I may be wrong in saying this, or even sound "elitist", but I wonder if part of the issue is that many TV shows nowadays also have big-name leads attached to them; ones that are primarily film stars. Beforehand in the United States, for better or for worse, the film and TV industries were pretty separate when it came to their actors. Most actors focused either primarily on movies or television. But in the past few years, we've seen more (big-name) film actors dipping their toes in the TV industry, and in doing so, pushing "TV actors" to the periphery; at least on streaming shows.
- It's kinda like how in the animation industry, particularly animated films, ever since the early 2000s, voice actors have been pushed aside so that big-name live-action actors can play the leads. I mean, look at the voice actresses of the Disney Princesses. The ones from the 90s are primarily voiced by actresses that, at the time, focused primarily on voice acting and were relatively new to the scene. More recent ones like Rapunzel, Anna, Raya, or even Asha have all been voiced by A-listers that primarily did/do live-action instead of animation.
- With anti-unionism being so prominent in the US for some reason, I don't see things changing for the better anytime soon. It would be nice if the voice acting, animation, and live-action film/TV industries were all predominantly unionized and actors, writers, directors, etc., were all getting treated and paid fearly. If I remember correctly, it wasn't even until a few years ago that streaming networks like Netflix actually started paying their actors residuals. o_O
- One a more positive note... I too think it's interesting how influential X thing can be. As you said, Buffy with a variety of media, but especially television. And I had NO idea Wicked managed to influence Passions! Wow. One more reason to watch it I guess, lol.
- As for streaming shows, funnily enough, Dead Boy Detectivess is one show that I watched "recently"; as in last year. Last time I watch a show before knowing if it's renewed or not; oof. I am caught up with quite a few, but the problem is that many of them are also animated - like X-Men '97 - so they take even longer than live-action streaming series to have new seasons come out. That's why I'm thinking about focusing more on live-action programms from network television; particularly from the Big Three. And why I'm also considering starting more soap operas once I'm caught up with Beyond the Gates; specifically, Bold & Beautiful. PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:08, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I loved the first two seasons of Charmed for that very reason. I preferred the focused being more on their personal and professional lives rather than having a big bad per season like Buffy, and despite all of the behind-the-scenes issues, I thought the show and actors did a great job in showing the sisters growing closer together and being more of a family. I get why later seasons changed, but I thought the villain of the week format was a better fit the show.
- I do not think you are being elitist at all. I could see future seasons of some shows being pushed back and delayed because one or more of the main cast is already committed to other projects. Voice-over work in animated films and shows is interested. I think that some of the actors do a wonderful job, like Mandy Moore with Rapunzel, but I wish more professional voice actors would get more respect. I do not think a Paige O'Hara as Belle or a Jodi Benson as Ariel would happen again for the lead in a major Disney movie, which is a real shame. The 2024–present SAG-AFTRA video game strike does not look particularly hopeful right now.
- Netflix is an absolute mess in my opinion. Based on how they recently announced the use of generative AI ads in the future (source), they clearly only care about money and not about the ethics or the unfair treatment of the employees and the cast and crews of their shows. Unions are so important, and they should be taught and discussed more, although there is likely a reason that is not being done. I agree with you completely on the need for unions, but I am being far too negative now lol
- I was so bummed about Dead Boy Detectives being canceled. I loved that show. I have not really kept up with new animated shows so I am so out of the loop when it comes to production times for that. For a frame of reference, I have only just finished Steven Universe earlier this year lol. Don't get me wrong, I love animation. I am just either behind on everything or watching older stuff like Yu-Gi-Oh! lol. I think that things would go more smoothly if streaming services would treat their workers more fairly, but streaming seems to be a mess now.
- Let me know what you think of the rest of Beyond the Gates and of Bold and the Beautiful! What have you been up to on Wikipedia lately by the way? Aoba47 (talk) 03:37, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
- I agree. Despite everything that was going on, Charmed was a pretty solid series. And it is a shame that with its recent projects, Disney mostly casts live-action actors instead of voice actors. Granted, it's not as if they're bad actors, but still.
- Although it is nice to have a currently-ongoing show to watch - like Beyond the Gates - every now and then I get kinda bored of waiting for new episodes, so I decide to watch older shows that are finished. lol
- As for what I've been up to on Wikipedia, up until a few days ago, my answer would have been "nothing". But having seen Final Destination Bloodlines, I just had to make an article for Erik, so that's what I'm working on now. XD
- BTW, congrats on Satsu's promotion!!! PanagiotisZois (talk) 10:34, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I am glad that you enjoyed Charmed. It is still one of my favorite shows, even though I did not enjoy the later seasons as much. It is very much a comfort show for me, and it did have a huge impact on me. You are much better about keeping up with currently-ongoing shows than I am lol.
- I agree that it is a shame that Disney is doing that approach because voice acting is a talent, which is seemingly undervalued. This is not Disney, but it did make me think of Creature Commandos, in which voice actors were hired based on who could also do the live action version of the characters. That is obviously going to favor live-action actors over voice actors. I get it from a continuity perspective, but I do not know.
- Good luck with the Erik article! It is always great when you feel so inspired to work on something that you just want to get to it right away. And I am always happy to see more fictional character articles lol. I am very proud of my work on the Satsu article, but it honestly feels a bit surreal that it got promoted. I am very grateful for all of the help that I received. Thank you again for that! Aoba47 (talk) 16:39, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
@PanagiotisZois: Apologies for the double ping and double reply. Just wanted to congratulate you on the Erik Campbell (Final Destination) article. Wonderful work with that! Aoba47 (talk) 20:40, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you so much!!! :D I just had to make it. PanagiotisZois (talk) 22:21, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

It is nice to remind myself and stay more grounded in the positive aspects of Wikipedia. Aoba47 (talk) 03:11, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- Aw, thanks. :) Working on the article did remind me of how much I used to love Final Destination. Now, I'm kinda trying to get back into the franchise. And I'll see if I end up working on other articles relating to it. PanagiotisZois (talk) 16:03, 17 June 2025 (UTC)

editI wanted to thank you again for leaving comments on my PR request for Deer Lady. I did have one brief question, you mentioned the Infobox image stating I am uncertain about File:Deer Lady Promo.jpg. It is encouraged to keep non-free media usage to a minimum, and I do not think that the image adds anything for the reader that cannot be conveyed through the prose alone. For instance, I do not think that the image really illustrates the 1990s independent film comparisons, particularly for readers who may be familiar with that style of film
, this is the one thing I haven't addressed yet, that I do want to take care of before an FAC (hopefully next month). From what you did read of the article, is there any piece you read that you think would be better assisted by non-free media that I could replace this image with, or would you just suggest dropping it altogether? (There's also this pseudo-promotional poster which there traditionally seems to be a little more leeway with when it comes to NFC?) Hope your Saturday is going well!
TheDoctorWho (talk) 16:57, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- @TheDoctorWho: Thank you for the response. Just to be clear, if you think that File:Deer Lady Promo.jpg is helpful for the article and has a strong argument for inclusion, feel free to keep it and to get further feedback from other editors about it. I do not have an Instagram account so I can unfortunately not access the poster, but I agree that a poster would have more leeway when it comes to WP:NFC.
- I would trust your judgement on what non-free media would be best. I know that is a non-answer, but it is tough for me to suggest as someone who has not seen Reservation Dogs, although the article has made me interested to watch it. If I had to suggest a potential option, I would lead more toward something from the scenes at the American Indian boarding school. A screenshot could help readers who are unfamiliar with these types of schools and could illustrate how the episode represents them. The boarding school seems to be the primary focus of the episode, both in the plot and the production, so that is why my mind goes there first.
- But, I would also trust your instincts, as you know far more about this episode and overall show than I do. I hope that this was helpful, and best of luck with the future FAC! I will be more than happy to review it when the time comes. I am always happy to see television episodes in the FAC space. It has been a moment since I have done one myself. Thank you for the kind words, and I hope you having a great Saturday too! Aoba47 (talk) 18:24, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

Kyo's peer review
editHi there Aoba. Long time no see. There is the article Kyo Kusanagi that I have been editing for a while and I put in on a peer review to see if it lacks something to be a proper GA. Not planning a FA but I recently changed most of Kyo's article to expand more the real world info and tone down the inuiverse infor. The peer review is here in case you are interested. Fray
editSatsu wasn't enough, eh? XD I really love the work you've done with her article thus far, and like all the character articles you've written before, I'm sure Fray's is going to look amazing once everything is done. It's nice to have more comic character articles receive an upgrade; especially for female characters. Hopefully, they can act as an "ideal" for other such articles to emulate. To be honest, I've never actually read the Fray series, and I barely remember her storyline from Season Eight. Still, I am curious to read more about her development. Anyway, I hope your work both on and off of Wikipedia goes well. :) PanagiotisZois (talk) 12:02, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: Thank you for the kind words! I enjoy working on fictional characters. I think there is something so cool about learning about the process of creating a character and how they are received. I get super inspired by stories so I have a lot of fun looking into the characters. It would be awesome to see more work done for female comic book characters. I was inspired by Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) to work on Satsu and now on Fray. It is still wild to think about my work on here possibly inspiring other editors, even after all of these years. If that is ever the case, I am happy and proud of it.
- I enjoyed Fray. It has been several years since I've read it, so I am looking forward to re-reading it. I loved Karl Moline's art. I was sad to see that he had died last year. You could see if Fray is available at your local library or request for them to purchase it? It is a different vibe from Buffy and has a ton of obvious cyberpunk influence from Blade Runner and The Fifth Element, but it still feels connected somehow. Fray was a standout for me from Season Eight, and that's what inspired me to read her miniseries. I actually knew very little about her development prior to doing this research, like how the character was created during that gap between Buffy's season five and season six (when it went from The WB to UPN).
- I feel like Fray as a character has been overshadowed by the live-action Buffy characters. Although she did get a fan film and was featured quite heavily in the later Buffy comics. It is a shame as I could have seen her doing well in an ongoing series or in an animated show or video game. I do get why the focus would be kept on the more recognizable characters. I am probably going to be super slow with this project lol. I've been making notes in a separate Word document just to try and stay organized with it lol. How is everything with you? Sorry for not being able to help with your current FAC. Unfortunately, I just do not have the time right now. Aoba47 (talk) 16:41, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- I may have said it before, but your work on Wikipedia has definitely inspired me. Especially with character articles. I remember often looking at your Melanie article as a gold standard for writing a TV character article; Morph. :)
- And I agree, it's always fun to learn more about how a character that you love was created, and also what other people thought/think of them. You never know when you'll find something interesting. I mean, the twin things about Erik in Bloodlines? Wow. I would have never considered that to subvert expectations, lol.
- You know, cyberpunk is a genre that I do find interesting for a few reasons, but it's one I could never really get into; unlike horror, or fantasy, for example. I guess if I have the time and interest, I could read Fray. I have to admit, the fact that Moline came back to illustrate the "Time of Your Life" arc in Season Eight, and it was the only arc he did instead of Georges Jeanty, was an interesting fact.
- Things are going all right with me. Don't worry about not reviewing the Erik article. I will admit, I was a bit surprised that I didn't get any comments kinda quickly, given how big the movie was. But I guess I'm overestimating the general populace's love for horror, lol. Still, working on the article was great. It definitely reignited that spark I have for the franchise, and even read one of the novels thanks to it! Just a few more to go. PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:03, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: Thank you for the kind words! I am proud of the Melanie article. I was inspired by the work on Denise Huxtable article, and wanted to do more on African-American characters in fiction, after already doing similar work for the Russell family (Passions) articles. I am not sure if that intention really translated lol, but I try my best to help with representation on Wikipedia when and where I can. I get inspired by your work as well. I really enjoyed reading through the Morph article!
- Research can lead to some unexpected things lol. The twin concept is an interesting idea for Final Destination. I am always impressed how for a franchise like that, they can think up new twists and ways to play with audience expectations. I enjoy reading other people's thoughts even when I completely disagree with them. For a source for Fray, I do not agree with a lot of the author's arguments, but I am still fascinated by that article, and I am glad that it exits.
- I understand how you feel about cyberpunk. It is never something I reach for first. Fray is one of the few expectations. Otherwise, I never really got into genres like cyberpunk or steampunk. No pressure to read Fray of course. There is so much out there so you should read what you enjoy! Jeanty did get to draw Fray for Season Twelve, but that was likely due to Moline having health issues. Moline helped to make Fray so it is understandable why Whedon and/or Dark Horse Comics would want to have him keep drawing the character.
- It is tough to gauge participation in the FAC process. Sometimes, people are really active and reviews come so quickly that surprise you while other times, it is quiet. Last month seemed to be quite slow. I'd be curious to see the data about reviewers. Hopefully, your FAC will get further attention soon! I am glad that you are enjoying the franchise! What did you think of the novel? I always find those kinds of things to be fun, and I could see Final Destination mythos translating well to a book. Aoba47 (talk) 00:01, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- Aw, thank you for your kind words. The Morph article was fun to work on. Hopefully the wait for season 2 will end soon, lol.
- And I agree. For a franchises that often sticks to formula, every film manages to find ways to make itself stand out. With the success that Bloodlines was, I'm sure there'll be a Final Destination 7, and I'm pretty excited to see what they do next.
- The novel I read was Death of the Senses, which instead of an accident killing multiple people features a serial killer going on a murder spree. The visonary Jack has brief flashes of his various victims being killed and manages to stop him, causing Death to go after them instead. It was pretty fun, because the altered nature of his vision meant that we the readers (like Jack) had no idea who the victims were, so there was a mystery element to it up until the halfway point. And the deaths tying to the five senses was fun. Sad the book (and the others) have received so little attention by not just the general (horror) public, but even FD fans. PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:14, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I am glad that you had fun with it! That is important to remember for working on Wikipedia. I hope that you enjoy season two whenever it comes, and given the success of Bloodlines and horror films in general, I would guess that there will be a Final Destination 7 sometime in the future. It is a good sign for a franchise when you are excited to see about what will happen in the next installment.
- Death of the Senses sounds interesting. The serial killer angle and withholding the identity of the victims are fun ideas. I think that a mystery element can work well with really any genre. Tying the deaths to the senses is really cool, as there is so much room for creativity and imagination and potential red herrings. It is a shame that the book did not get a lot of attention. It is available on the Internet Archive (here). Apparently, there was a printing error that likely caused issues with its promotion and performance.
- Death of the Senses was first published almost two decades ago now. Hopefully, the success of Bloodlines would inspire more FD books. I know that not as many people read, which is such a shame in my opinion, but I would think that would be plenty of established horror authors who would love to do something really unique for a FD book. It feels like there are a lot of cool and interesting horror trends in literature at the moment. I enjoy tie-ins a lot as they are just fun ways to enjoy a franchise. I am actually currently reading a tie-in for Star Trek: Voyager, which is centered on Seven of Nine (who is my favorite Star Trek character). Anyway, maybe one day, Death of the Senses, and the FD books as a whole, will get more attention. Aoba47 (talk) 02:31, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- I do agree that everyone loves a mystery, so Death of the Senses had me hooked with that. If you ever feel like reading one of the Final Destination books, I'd definitely recommend it. Out of the ones I've read, I'd definitely say it's my favourite one. And thank God a good samaritan scanned all the novels and put them up on the Internet Archive, lol.
- I'm not holding my breath, but it would be awesome for the books to be reprinted by another company, or even for new stories to start being published. Tie-ins and novelization don't tend to receive much attention but you can definitely find great writing in such works. It really is a shame that we don't see such novels being published as often anymore. As you say, it's probably cause people nowadays are more likely to watch/play something than read. :/
- Sidenote, although I've only seen a few episodes here and there, Seven of Nine has always been one of my favourite Star Trek characters. Maybe Jeri Ryan is just that magnetic? Lol. I absolutely loved her in Dracula 2000.--PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:59, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I should check it out. I have actually never seen a Final Destination movie, but I think that it shows how much impact the franchise has when I know about multiple death sequences (with the logging truck and the tanning bed ones coming to mind for me). It is such a strong concept that can done in so many different ways. I agree with you about the Internet Archive lol. It is such a great resource, particularly for things that you are unlikely to get physically (or in case just can't at all).
- Unfortunately, I agree that it is unlikely that the books would get republished. It is a shame because I would imagine that the reprinting process would not be too difficult. I think a small reprinting, with promotional material tied to the new film, could have been a fun way to gauge interest, but I know very little about that so I could be wrong lol.
- It is a shame that tie-ins and novelizations are not as popular. There really is so much great writing for those. For instance, I remember really enjoying the Ultraviolet novelization even if I did not enjoy the movie lol. It does seem that people would prefer to watch or play something instead, but writing is really able to convey things that a movie or a TV series or a video game cannot. I know Star Wars still does tie-ins and novelizations, but that's the only one I can really think of off the top of my head.
- I am glad that you enjoyed the Star Trek episodes. I think that a lot of what made Seven of Nine great was Ryan's performance. I love the writing and development of the character, but I'd imagine that was a lot to take on for an actor, especially when thrown in the middle of a series. It is cool that she has been involved in different genres, like sci-fi (Star Trek) and horror (Dracula 2000). Aside from Voyager, I remember really liking her on Boston Public (a drama about a high school) and in Leverage (a show about a team doing heists to help people). I'd love to see her be on Leverage: Redemption more.
- Sorry for going on a bit of a tangent there lol. How is everything going with you? It is still crazy to me that it is already July. Hopefully, you are having a good 2025 so far! Aoba47 (talk) 01:07, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
@PanagiotisZois: Sorry for the double ping and response. I just wanted to say that I am sorry to see the current direction of the Erik Campbell FAC. The reviewers have been kind with their comments, but I know from personal experience that getting opposition in a FAC is never any fun. I do agree with you though on the infobox image. A fictional character article should include a clear and identifiable image of said character, and an image of the actor would not serve the same purpose. Just be clear this is not a critique or anything negative toward the reviewers. I more so just wanted to say good vibes through it all. Aoba47 (talk) 20:08, 31 July 2025 (UTC)

I do not have as much time for Wikipedia so whenever I do get the chance to come on here, I am focusing more on my own projects. I have done a FAC review recently, but that will honestly be my last one for a while. Apologies for not being able to help. I hope that everything with your FAC goes well! Aoba47 (talk) 03:26, 14 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Chrishm21: Apologies for the double-reply, but I just noticed your review for the "Outside" (Mariah Carey song) FAC, and I wanted to raise some concerns about it. I am glad that you are reviewing FACs, but I am uncertain about your suggestions.
- For instance, it is best to avoid having a section or a subsection with just one sentence. A song article also does not need a dedicated paragraph about the subject's legacy. This article, at least in my opinion, already covers this aspect in the "Critical reception and analysis" section so I do not see a gap or an issue with comprehensiveness. Also, a lead is not used to prove or support a song's notability. It exists as an "introduction to an article" a "summary of its most important contents" per the MOS.
- I was the most struck by how you formatted and worded your comments. I noticed that you used a similar formatting for your comments at the "Dragostea din tei" FAC. I was wondering why you went with this approach? Just to be clear, I think that it is great that you are reviewing FACs. The FAC process could always use more reviewers. Fray questions
editThought I'd ask this here, as I don't want to bloat the FAC. I noticed that the Fray comic had a pretty irregular schedule. While the first three issues all came out on a monthly schedule, the next two issues took two months to release, while the 6th one took three months. Admittedly, not that bad. But then issues #7 didn't come out until more than a year later, with the final issue also taking four months to be published.
Did any of the sources state why Fray had such an irregular schedule? I'm guessing it's because Joss Whedon was simultaneously working on Buffy and Angel. Was it because the last issues have Fray gain access to the Slayer scythe, which isn't introduced until Buffy's 7th season?
Also, from what I saw, Fray's appearance in Tales of the Slayers was published in 2002, while Fray was on hiatus. Does that issue taking place during the events of Fray, or after it? PanagiotisZois (talk) 00:14, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: The Fray comic was pretty infamous for its delays. Whedon even addressed this during an interview or Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight (here), which also had its own issues (as it ended going for far longer than originally planned). Whedon said he was going to do "25 and 30 issues" for Season Eight, and that ended up going to 40 issues. I do not think that Whedon had a clear sense of how comics are produced and how it differed from how film and television operated. It is a very different medium with a different type of production and behind-the-scenes work.
- The delays were discussed in the surrounding coverage, but I did not pay that much attention to it. That information would be better suited for the Fray comic article, and since I was focused on the character article, I more or less ignored it. I know that the scythe had nothing to do with the delays. Fray was its first appearance, as it is seen in issue #6 (2002),and it comes over to live action for Buffy the following year. Whedon was likely just busy with other projects, and Fray was pushed to the back-burner. I think that Whedon probably took on more than he could have realistically handled. It is also important to remember that Whedon was working on Firefly, which came out in 2002 so add that on top of Buffy and Angel.
- Fray's story for Tales of the Slayers was published in the midst of the delays, but it is set after Fray, which is confusing. Coverage about the one-shot places it after Fray, and in the story, Melaka already has the scythe and is aware of being the Slayer. I would imagine that they thought Fray would have been completed by that time, so the Tales of the Slayers would have been a nice return to Melaka and her story, but that is just my guess.
- I remember one source mentioned how even though Fray has only eight issues, it was first published in the hiatus between fifth and sixth seasons of Buffy (2001), but it did not actually finish until after the series finale in 2003. It is wild. I think that delays pretty common in comics. Doomsday Clock is one example that I can think of, and Batman H2SH is a more recent example. Hopefully, that clarifies things, but let me know if you have any further questions. Aoba47 (talk) 01:33, 8 September 2025 (UTC)

Misti
editGreetings, I was wondering if you might be interested in doing a pre-FAC review at Talk:Misti. I know that this probably isn't a topic you work on much, but from the comments of the reviewers of the previous FAC there it seems like the article might need a view from someone who isn't familiar with the topic. - @Jo-Jo Eumerus: Thank you for your message. I would be more than happy to read through the article. It is important to read outside of one's area of interest or focus, and I do think that this is an interesting topic anyway. Would I post my comments as a separate section on the talk page? Apologies if this is obvious. It has been a while since I have done any sort of pre-FAC review, so I just want to make sure that I would so in the best way for everyone. Please ping me if for whatever reason, I do not get to this by this time next week, as a reminder is always helpful. 13:25, 24 September 2025 (UTC) Aoba47 (talk) 13:25, 24 September 2025 (UTC)

editCongrats on your latest gold star! :D I enjoyed this article. :-) Moisejp (talk) 04:25, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- Many congratulations on the promotion! Medxvo (talk) 11:35, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
I wanted to wait until the FAC was officially closed and the gold star given to Fray. Congratulations on her promotion! :D --PanagiotisZois (talk) 12:56, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you (@Moisejp:, @Medxvo:, and @PanagiotisZois:) for the kind words! It really does mean a lot to me, and I greatly appreciate it. I hope that you are doing well and having a great start to your week! Aoba47 (talk) 13:26, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- I just opened your link, PanagiotisZois, and I was not expecting that. Put the biggest smile on my face lol. Thank you for that! Aoba47 (talk) 15:10, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
Christmas Tree Farm
editI'm not posting to the TFA nom anymore. But just wanted to let you know; I didn't know of the first two Swiftie TFAs at the time. I also see it as more of Christmas nom, not a Swiftie nom. My objection isn't to Dec 24, it's to the photo because I see it as Christmas nom--it should have a Christmas type photo IMHO. If it weren't for the Christmas connection, I'd oppse the actual nom--so it's sort of an exception to me because of the Christmas connection. I would also be opposed to any other Swiftie noms in the near future, similar to what came of the McQueen situation. I'm walking away from the discussion because I'm clearly in the minority on the issue. You may or may not find this reddit thread intersing. Best wishes. MisawaSakura (talk) 13:57, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- @MisawaSakura: This would objectively be a Swift TFA. You present this as if it is mutually exclusive (as if this could only be a Christmas TFA or a Swift TFA), when that is not the case, as in this instance, it would be both. This article may be about a Christmas song, but it is also about a Christmas song by Taylor Swift, and that does not change depending on the TFA image being used. It would still be another article about Taylor Swift on the front page. The Christmas connection does not change that.
- It just seems strange to point out an issue with multiple Swift TFAs running on the front page and then proceed to request about an article about a Taylor Swift song being run on the front page. I noticed a similar issue with The Hunger (collection) request, and I do not think that you handled that particularly well either.
- I do not find the Reddit thread to be particularly relevant in this situation. I think that it would be more beneficial to learn from this experience for future TFA noms. It is always best to try and learn and grow from these types of experiences whenever possible. It is great to have more editors involved in the TFA space, but I think that it would be better to learn from this rather than just walking away from it and potentially repeating this in the future. I know that I have learned a lot from my time on here. Aoba47 (talk) 14:39, 6 October 2025 (UTC)

editHey, I hope you're doing well. Firstly, I just wanted to note something small. Regarding Fray's blurb for when she shows up on the Main Page, do you think a picture of Karl Moline should also be included? Fray was his most prominent creation, and he drew almost all of her appearances, and it would be nice for him to also be included.
Also, if I remember correctly, you liked KPop Demon Hunters, right? Thought you might like this remix. PanagiotisZois (talk) 13:38, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: Thank you for your message. I am doing alright, thank you for asking. I hope that everything is going well with you. I have not seen two images used for a TFA blurb, so I am not entirely sure if that would be a possibility. However, please correct me if I am wrong. I have been only somewhat involved with the TFA process, so I am not as familiar with it as other editors. I could also see some concerns about the Karl Moline image not being the best quality-wise.
- I would prefer for Moline to be on the front page, as I think that it would be a nice memorial for him given his death last year, but I could also see why the Joss Whedon image would be preferred given it is higher quality and Whedon is the primary person associated with the character (and the overall Buffy franchise). I agree though that it would be nice to include Moline.
- I have actually not seen KPop Demon Hunters yet. I am glad that it has become such a big cultural phenomenon. It is awesome to see animation get this kind of recognition (and hopefully, it would encourage other animation projects to be produced and get more support). I am just not really in touch with what's popular right now. To give you some context, I have been watching The Vampire Diaries and Reign, so I am very much out of the loop lol. Thank you for the link! It is a really cool remix. I was absolutely obsessed with Evanescence as a teenager. This is another fun remix with "Bring Me to Life" and Lady Gaga. I remember wanting to try my hand at doing mash-ups back in the day. Maybe I should test some out in the near future lol. Aoba47 (talk) 16:52, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- That's actually something that crossed my mind as well; that it could be a nice little tribute to Moline. I know it's not the same thing, but a few years ago the GLAAD Award for Comics was the featured list on the main page and I included an image of three of the writers/artists, so I don't see a problem with including both Weddon and Moline.
- Oof, TVD? I found out about the show a few months after season 2 finished, and kept up with it until about season 5? Then I stopped. I have considered restarting it but out of the shows I've already seen and would like to rewatch, it's not really at the top of my list. As for Reign, I never watched it, but in the past few years I've picked up an interest in Mary Stuart, so I would like to watch it. (Historical inaccuracies and all, lol)
- For me, some mashups are so ingrained in me it's almost impossible to remember what the original song(s) sounded like. This Rihanna mashup being the example for me. Evanescence is all pretty great. For years, I think I only ever knew of "Bring Me to Life" (shocker), but I also heard "Going Under" last year, which is also pretty great. If you do ever decide to do a mashup, let me know what songs you're using. XD PanagiotisZois (talk) 00:34, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: I will probably stick with just the Whedon image. I am not sure if there is really enough room to properly display two images in the space allotted for the TFA. Thank you for the idea though, as I do really appreciate it! I hope that it would still be a nice tribute to Moline to have one of his characters on the front page and to have a featured article.
- This is actually my first time watching TVD. I am currently on season two, and I am not sure how I feel about it. I enjoyed it at the start, but the pacing and storylines seem really strange to me. I am not sure if this will make any sense, but it feels more like actors thrown onto different sets rather than characters with actual lives in an actual world. And I love supernatural, soapy nonsense, so this should be right up alley. I will keep watching to see if I get back into it though. I have heard that the show completely falls apart in the later seasons.
- I am actually really loving Reign. I appreciate how it is very clearly not attempting to be historically accurate, even down to the more anachronistic clothing and soundtrack. It reminds me of Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette in some ways. I enjoy how historical fiction can engage different audiences and hopefully be the springboard for them to become more interested in history. I think that it is neat, although I can understand why purists would disagree with this. I just love historical romance, and Reign is another one that right up my alley. Mary Stuart is such an iconic historical figure, so I can understand the interest. I was really into Marie Antoinette and Cleopatra when I was younger.
- That is a very solid Rihanna mashup. I would have never thought about putting those two songs together. I am amazed at people that can hear that and make it seem so seamless. Evanescene's second album came out when I was a freshman in college so I think that I happened to be in a time where the bad was everywhere. I would recommend their first album if you are ever interested. I do somewhat cringe looking back because I thought their lyrics were so deep at the time lol.
- I am not sure what songs that I would mashup if I am being honest. They were probably something really random. I have been wanting to get into audio editing for years now, and it would be a fun way to experiment with it. I will let you know if I ever do it lol. Do you have any songs that you would love get a mashup? I swear I would not steal any of your ideas lol. Aoba47 (talk) 01:33, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
- "it feels more like actors thrown onto different sets rather than characters with actual lives in an actual world". XDD One thing I always asked myself is "How do these people even graduate high school?" Like you have Elena or Bonnie dealing with all this supernatural crap nearly 24/7. Do the days in the TVD universe consist of 36 hours or something? When do they study.
- I also agree about historical fiction. It can definitely inspire people's interest in history, and for me at least, I can use it as a springboard to remember historical figures, their relationships to each other, and some of their actions. In fact, it wasn't until after I started listening to songs from Six that I was able to remember the names of Henry VIII's wives. WHich then led me to figuring out how many children he had with each wife, the English Reformation, etc.
- Funnily enough, Marie Antoinette and Cleopatra were some of the first historical monarchs I remember knowing as a kid. I guess they're just THAT famous. And the fact that Marie Antoinette was a queen consort and yet she's more (in)famous than her husband is kinda funny.
- I don't ever plan on getting into music, so steal my ideas if you want, lol. I guess a mashup of Madison Beer's "Make You Mine" and Chappell Roan's "My Kink is Karma"? Not sure if they would fit, but I do like both songs. PanagiotisZois (talk) 11:08, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: We did see them in high school in the first season, and for the second season, I do not think that I have seen a single scene of the characters attending school or doing any type of school work so far. We do not really see them do anything outside of the main storylines. It feels like they do things for the sake of the plot even if it does not make sense for them. Like Damon tortured and killed someone and everyone seems chill about it.
- I just wish that I knew these characters more. Like I was surprised to learn that Elena becomes a doctor. I do not even know how she though high school lol. I am not even sure what Elena's goals are for the future at this point. Maybe the TVD characters meet up with the Riverdale characters in some sort of pocket dimension for study hall lol. All the teen dramas could have a giant crossover, and it would just be all the characters actually studying and doing their homework together lol.
- I have only heard good things about Six. I really should check it out whenever I have the chance. I think that it is neat to talk to someone and go back to what kickstarted their interest in a historical period. For me, the Sofia Coppola movie is what got me into Marie Antoinette. I used to know so many dates and names lol.
- I would think that Marie Antoinette and Cleopatra are up there as some of the most iconic rulers, mostly for the drama around them lol. It is interesting when a historical figure completely overshadows another lol.
- I am not sure if I will ever get into music either lol. I do have a bunch of random ideas to get into audio and video editing. I am just the worst with starting anything >< lol. That would sound like a fun mashup! Thank you for letting me know. If I ever did mashups I might do 2000s songs with something else, as it would be nostalgic for revisit that stuff. Aoba47 (talk) 01:21, 30 October 2025 (UTC)

editHi there! I hope my review didn't read as too harsh – it wasn't meant to be, I was just in a hurry while writing it :) I still don't fully agree with some things left in the article, but I didn't mean to be harsh (in case it came across that way). Hopefully you'll re-nominate some day. Greets

- @Cartoon network freak: Thank you for your message. You are all good. I have a cold right now and I am pretty sleep deprived because of it, so I am not in the right headspace for a FAC. I would rather attention go to the other FACs, as those nominators are better prepared to handle reviews. I will not be renominating the article for a FAC in the future, and I do not see myself doing any further work on it in general. I have decided to take a wikibreak for the rest of the year and will limit my time on here to mostly monitoring my watchlist. Whenever I do decide to work on something, I would just prefer to do something else. I hope you are having a great week so far. Aoba47 (talk) 19:43, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
