For this reason, a message intended for one person may be received by another and a block may be shared by many. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases, you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to deal with vandalism; if so, please see here.

If you are autoblocked repeatedly, we encourage you to contact your Internet service provider or IT department and ask them to contact Wikimedia's XFF project about enabling X-Forwarded-For HTTP headers on their proxy servers so that our editing blocks will affect only the intended user. Alternatively, you can list the IP at Wikipedia:WikiProject on XFFs.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider using a soft block with the template {{anonblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

Note: In the event of vandalism from this address, abuse reports may be sent to your network administrator for further investigation.
IT staff who want to monitor vandalism from this IP address can subscribe to a web feed of this page in either RSS or Atom format.

Unregistered editors using this IP address received messages on this talk page years ago. Since users of the IP address have likely changed, these messages have been removed. They can be viewed in the page history.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Elisabeth Waldo has been reverted.
Your edit here to Elisabeth Waldo was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links in references which are discouraged per our reliable sources guideline (see also this list of frequently-discussed sources). The reference(s) you added or changed (https://www.discogs.com/release/2253491-Elisabeth-Waldo-And-Her-Concert-Orchestra-Rites-Of-The-Pagan) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Decline reason:

Looking at our logs, it seems your IP address is either shared or part of a large range that has been blocked to prevent an abusive user from vandalizing our site. Unfortunately, while this adequately protects our site, it does affect a large number of innocent users. You can, however, still edit while logged in with an account. I'm assuming you don't have one already, so you can request one at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Request_an_account To speed this up, it's a good idea to check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:CentralAuth to make sure that the username you want is not already taken. Apologies for the inconvenience this causes, but I assure you large blocks like this are a last resort-- Deepfriedokra (talk) 15:58, 1 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@UtherSRG: As this is a public library, it looks like it's possible for multiple people to edit Wikipedia from the same IP. What was the rationale for a 3 month block over, for example, 24 hours? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:43, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

The past four months of warnings indicates no intention of behavioral change. The pattern of behavior indicates a repeat library customer as opposed to just the general library population. - UtherSRG (talk) 13:01, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
What's wrong with this edit? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:18, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Did I say "every edit is bad"? No, I said there is a pattern of behavior over the past four months. - UtherSRG (talk) 13:23, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can you show me some examples of edits that are disruptive and clearly harming the encyclopedia? A spot check over the last 48 hours or so indicates lots of good-faith edits. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:26, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

'Trimming' Cast Listings in Film Articles

edit

Good Day!

Can I ask the people who are using this account to please refrain from 'trimming' names from the Cast listings in film articles unless you are using what appears on the screen in the actual movie as the basis for your edits.

For example, earlier this year (on 4 January) someone used this account to 'trim' Glen Boles from the Cast listing of the article for the film Flirtation Walk, but if you were to view the credits at the beginning of this movie, you would see that his name appears on the screen immediately below the name of John Darrow.

However, keep in mind that even on the talk page of an article, you should limit your discussion to improving the article. Alexf What prompted this block? 331dot (talk) 18:59, 6 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

This public address, owned by the NY Public Library, has been doing rapid edits, at the rate of sometimes one a minute for months, and years. It has been been repeatedly warned before, and then blocked for increasing periods of time. If you want to edit, and not be mixed with other editors using the same IP Address, consider creating an account as indicated in the banner up top. There is no reason for rapid entries, at one a minute, or more, for weeks. Look at the logs for this Address. If you do not want to create an account, that is fine, but then you will be mixed with whomever uses this IP Address and whatever they do will be joined by all. Just to be fair, as we assume a different user each time, the block was removed. -- Alexf(talk) 19:10, 6 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I noticed the rapid edits, but would that not be consistent with computers at a busy public library in NYC? (if they were sharing an IP) 331dot (talk) 19:14, 6 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I will edit more slowly. 65.88.88.56 (talk) 19:15, 6 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
So, you are claiming responsibility for all the recent edits from this IP? 331dot (talk) 19:18, 6 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
All over "months, and years"? No. Just my own. I know I sometimes edit rapidly ("This public address, owned by the NY Public Library, has been doing rapid edits, at the rate of sometimes one a minute for months, and years. It has been been repeatedly warned before, and then blocked for increasing periods of time"...) so I am trying to ameliorate and avoid any misunderstandings. Is there a particular edit that is offensive or violative of WP to which you are referring? 65.88.88.56 (talk) 19:21, 6 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Hello, I'm HurricaneZeta. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Pamela Rouse Wright, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 21:05, 9 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at List of serial killers in the United States, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources to see how to add references to an article. Thank you. CycloneYoris talk! 20:19, 15 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding unreferenced controversial biographical content to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did with this edit to Selene Vigil. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thank you. Struck out erroneous warning. Adakiko (talk) 00:10, 18 October 2025 (UTC) Adakiko (talk) 19:32, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy, as you did with this edit to Valerie Agnew. Adakiko (talk) 19:41, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Adakiko I don't think either of these warnings are warranted. The IP added sourced info to the infobox of Vigil as you already acknowleged, and simply added a claim to the lead that was already in the infobox of Agnew. Not helpful, but they weren't the one to make the birthdate claim. LaffyTaffer💬(she/they) 19:44, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
@LaffyTaffer: My apology, got many pings from here and didn't see yours. Thank you for fixing my blunder! I struck out the erroneous Selene Vigil warning. It would help if an edit summary was used; esp. with the unusual name "Here". IMO, adding unsourced info and a CN tag isn't any different than adding it without the tag. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 00:10, 18 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Considering I've now removed several unsourced claims from this IP from other articles, I now think the level 3 is warranted. IP, please stop adding unsourced claims to articles. LaffyTaffer💬(she/they) 20:04, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this IP address or network has been used to disrupt Wikipedia. It has been blocked from editing to prevent further abuse.
If you are not the intended target of this block, please read the information below in order to receive assistance.
Wikipedia tries to be open, but we sometimes must block IP addresses to prevent editing by abusers, vandals, or block evaders. These blocks can affect users who have done nothing wrong. If you are a legitimate user, follow the instructions below to edit despite the block. Users who are the intended target of a range block may still appeal the block.

Users without an account: If you do not have an account and wish to bypass this block, an account can be created to allow you to edit. In general, these blocks only prevent users who are not logged in from editing; once you are logged in, the block will no longer affect you in any way. To request an account, simply click here and follow the directions provided on the page. It is important that you use an e-mail address issued to you by your ISP, school, or organisation, so we may verify that you are a legitimate user. When filling out the account request form, please refer to this block in the "comments" input field. If you've been instructed to request an account via email, please refer to this block in your message.

Registered users (with an account): Please make sure you are logged in to your account. If you are unable to edit while logged in, you may request IP block exemption to bypass blocks unconnected with you that affect your editing. Post an unblock request to your user talk page.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.

@Ponyo: THIS IS ABSURD. YOU DID NOT EVEN ALLOW ME TO DEFEND MYSELF. HAVE YOU REVIEWED THE EDITS IN QUESTION OR AS A FUNCTION OF ALL THE EDITS I MAKE? YOU ARE FAR TYOO QUICK TO BLOCK USERS.
This is what I was typing when you blocked me:
@LaffyTaffer : What does "referencing the wrong page" mean? And you made it sound like you had uncovered numerous instances of misediting on my part when all I did was add Commerford's middle name as attributed to him online. The large tranche of unsourced edits you removed from Commerford's page were not made by me. Why don't you investigate all my edits, instead of 1/1000th of them?
I didn't deserve a Level 3 warning, much less a Level 4, and none of this is the point of @Adakiko's abusive conduct and deletion of talk page messages questioning his actions. 65.88.88.56 (talk) 20:23, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Abusive behavior by Adakiko and irresponsible behavior by @LaffyTaffer should not result in my being blocked over nonsense by an admin who is far too quick to issue boilerplate long-term blocks. 65.88.88.56 (talk) 20:27, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This is a checkuser block. That means this address is not blocked solely as a result of the edits publicly associated with this IP. The block may not be intended for you, the person writing this unblock request, at all. If you have never had an account before, request one at WP:ACC. If you have an account, simply log in. And if you're block evading, you know who you are and what you di, and you know this unblock request is both insufficient and misplaced. asilvering (talk) 06:58, 18 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

IP, I was mostly attempting to defend you to an extent. You should also take a look at WP:NOTTHEM, no chance is an admin going to accept an unblock request attacking other editors while making no attempt to address the actual reason for the block.

Please don't ping me again. LaffyTaffer💬(she/they) 20:36, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
