Removal of suspect names

edit

The names of the juvenile suspects / children in conflict with the law (CICLs) should be removed in the main article since the investigations are still going on and to protect their and their families’ privacy and dignity. General-chikuwa (talk) 11:07, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

I've made two WP:OVERSIGHT actions in connection to this already. Also there is no WP:RS publishing the names even so attempts to include the suspect names from hearsay and unofficial sources would fall under WP:ORHariboneagle927 (talk) 11:38, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ping me if you see it happen again (when you revert), I've got the page watchlisted but if you get to it before I see the specific diff I might miss it. Primefac (talk) 11:52, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Apologies, I meant in the edit summary when you redact, there were 48 edits made between when I last saw the page and now, so a ping in the edit summary will help me find things faster going forward. I did just see the OS emails you sent in; that might be a better way to get these sorted since I'm travelling and not available much during the day. Primefac (talk) 23:37, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I suggest creating an edit notice about this. Warm Regards, Miminity (Talk?) (me contribs) 00:19, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Citation for BFP

edit

A citation is needed for the Bureau of Fire Protection (aka BFP) as some people don't know the full acronym. ~2026-36257-30 (talk) 06:47, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ref says it was teachers and students so I've changed it to that. Primefac (talk) 11:01, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
News reports from GMA (24 Oras) and ABS-CBN (TV Patrol) say that the first suspect was caught by a BFP officer and a civilian (perhaps a teacher or non-teaching staff in the high school). General-chikuwa (talk) 14:26, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Do you have a reliable source we can use for that information? - Adolphus79 (talk) 15:02, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I believe I cannot use a YouTube video as a reference here due to Wikipedia’s policy, is that correct?
Finding a Facebook video of the clip is also challenging since it may violate our privacy terms concerning the suspects (plus it was me who also raised the disclosure in the previous edits). General-chikuwa (talk) 12:54, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
It would be a lot better if you had a published article from a known and reliable newspaper or other news source (a youtube video of a reliable news report could suffice until a better source comes along. - Adolphus79 (talk) 13:02, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Pending changes or semi-protection

edit

This article should be WP:WHITELOCK or WP:SEMI since investigations are still ongoing, verified sources of information aren't complete, and the nature of the event is highly political/controversial, subject to misinformation/vandalism in the coming days/weeks Grapejuicei.ad (talk) 14:59, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Pages are not protected preemptively. - Adolphus79 (talk) 15:34, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Already pending at WP:RFP, but rather related on the BLP issues raised above. Hariboneagle927 (talk) 15:46, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Has been declined, but I agree with the admin who did so in that a) TAs are not (currently) being reverted, and b) most of the problematic edits I've been seeing are from established editors. Neither PC nor semi would really do anything. Primefac (talk) 23:54, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
