Moving fair-use shields to Commons
editHi, I would like to revisit the discussion on moving the route markers for Australia to Commons: Similar deletion requests have been kept. Is this something that we can do this time around? Rschen7754 00:19, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Requested move 27 February 2026
edit
- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: no consensus. It's kind of a wash here on numbers and arguments; the MOS doesn't apply to WikiProjects and while most roads projects seem to be in title case, it's not all roads projects and certainly not all WikiProjects. Like Arbitrarily0 said, this discussion should probably happen with a much broader scope, either on all roads WikiProjects or all WikiProjects, period. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 22:07, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian Roads → Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian roads – Per MOS:AT and MOS:HEADCAPS, sentence case is to be used for all article titles and many other elements such as normal writing, the title of this WikiProject does not currently conform to that guideline. Why should the title be exclusively in start case while the rest of the WikiProject is using sentence case? This is possibly the only WikiProject to use start case for its title rather than sentence case. Qwerty123M (talk) 05:31, 27 February 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. - Support, although the need to rename a semi-defunct project is not pressing. For the record, there are a number of similarly miscapitalized projects, WP:WikiProject Women in Music, and a dozen or so more (incl. unexpectedly WP:WikiProject Policies and Guidelines & WP:WikiProject Quality Article Improvement). -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 07:22, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Michael Bednarek, is there a list of these anywhere? I am very active in one I know is miscapitalized (Wikipedia:WikiProject Radio Stations), and I've known for some time that at some point this will need to change while unsure what resources are available to explain this is a project-wide thing. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 09:10, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
- I know that I'm late to the discussion, but I'd have opposed this move on consistency grounds. First off, project pages are not articles, so article title capitalization rules do not technically apply. I'll note that the work "WikiProject" has an intercap, so unless every project is going to be moved to change that, you'll always have that inconsistency at work. Next off, we have WP:WikiProject U.S. Roads, WP:WikiProject Canada Roads, etc. so the title casing was consistent before. The outlier has been WP:WikiProject Indian roads (which uses "Indian Roads" as its name within its pages though). As noted, there are several projects that use title casing in their titles, so this already demonstrates deliberate non-compliance with article titling guidelines, which I'll again note do not apply to non-articles. @Arbitrarily0: just pinging you in case this commentary is meaningful and prompts a possible reversal of the move. Imzadi 1979 → 04:27, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you, Imzadi1979. I have decided to reverse the move and relist the discussion. It can't hurt to give this more time. I noticed that there are many other projects in Category:Active WikiProjects that use title case. In my view, a broader discussion is needed, one that raises this question for all WikiProjects: Are WikiProjects to be taken as a proper noun? Arbitrarily0 (talk) 19:16, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose, if the participants of this WikiProject uppercased the name, then that should stay the name of the WikiProject. Randy Kryn (talk) 03:07, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- Why is that the case? What guideline supports this argument? Qwerty123M (talk) 08:02, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- As a member of this WikiProject, although not a founding member, I don't really care either way, as long as whoever closes this discussion ends up moving and changing everything that needs to be changed, if the consensus is to move. There are a number of categories such as Category:WikiProject Australian Roads articles that would need to be moved, for example. Steelkamp (talk) 03:17, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
