Definition of edit warring

Edit warring is a behavior, typically exemplified by the use of repeated edits to "win" a content dispute. It is different from a bold, revert, discuss (BRD) cycle. Reverting vandalism and banned users is not edit warring; at the same time, content disputes, even egregious point of view edits and other good-faith changes do not constitute vandalism. Administrators often must make a judgment call to identify edit warring when cooling disputes. Administrators currently use several measures to determine if a user is edit warring.

Definition of the three-revert rule (3RR)

An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Violations of this rule normally attract blocks of at least 24 hours. Any appearance of gaming the system by reverting a fourth time just outside the 24-hour slot is likely to be treated as a 3RR violation. See here for exemptions.

It's not my mistakes. I've already comment it. That user count the wrong data in medal table so that's the reason I've reverted it. Also I believe that user:Bgsu98 have very stronger feeling for me because I'm argue with him before, but it doesn't matter with him and I don't understand why he always complain me. Thanks. As a neutral party I will point out that I attempted to warn BOTH involved parties here and BOTH simply blanked the warning from their talk pages. Would recommend blocks for both involved parties. Zackmann (^{Talk to me}/_{What I been doing}) 16:12, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

I would add that Stevencocoboy's doubling down in the above comment that they were justified in editing warring and saying that Bgsu98 (who reported BOTH involved parties) is somehow out to get them is indicative of a much larger issue here. It should also be noted that Stevencocoboy appears to have a second account which they flip flop back and forth between using (Olympicmen). I understand the concern and apologize for the edit warring. Three of the edits in question were made in quick succession, though I recognize that this is not an excuse. I understand the issue that has been raised, and we are now discussing it on my talk page . There will be no more reverts on the article in question until we come to a mutual understanding. Stadt67 is edit-warring on Oliver Tree and broke 3RR by making 4 reverts in 24 hours.

They are reverting multiple editors to consistently place their own version and seem to be the only editor doing so. After they left me a message on my talk page saying I broke 3RR (which I don't recall doing so) for which I later responded to, I left a message on their talk page about their behavior and breaking policy. They later deleted my message, accusing me of retaliatory behavior, and threatened to report me to ANI instead of discussing a solution to said edit war.

Since they refuse to use the talk page and keep breaking the revert limit, I'd like an admin to intervene in this and hopefully resolve this. ConeKota (talk) 02:00, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

ConeKota, reverting a revert with an edit summary of "I'm not going to have an edit war with you" () has some degree of irony in it. Please generally don't, especially in biographies. I don't think WP:BLPRESTORE applies in this case but WP:ONUS does. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 09:17, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

@ToBeFree ConeKota's behaviour ought to be took into account too:

1. Fundamentally wrong. Cause of death should not be listed in the infobox unless the subject is notable for such a death. Since Oliver Tree is more notable for being a musician and internet personality than his death, such an inclusion in the infobox is unwarranted.

2. Copied and pasted the warning I gave them onto my talk page:

3. ConeKota never asked or wanted a solution. I was right in that regard. ConeKota waited days until bringing it here, the only interaction or discussion was a retalitory 3RR warning (see diff) and saying they'd report me.

1 is important as that's what the whole dispute is about. To deny the biography manual of style is to do with behaviour.
