Squad navboxes styling

edit

Hey there! I am in bit of a confusion with squad navboxes styling. When I first created a World Cup squad navbox, I styled on the precedent of previous navboxes of them matching the kit of the team for that particular season. But cricket teams tend to have very frequently changing colors and I feel this inconsistency can be addressed by sticking to two common styling styles, one for ODI WCs and the other of T20Is. Would be grateful for your help :) Cric editor (talk) 04:04, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Cric editor:
I agree; a common/consistent styling pattern should be used within CWCs and T20WCs.
I must also add that a navbox should be for navigational purposes and not as a decorative something.. thus, they should only use a bg color representing the team. even if the kit color changes time to time in most cases there's a core color in their kit that doesn't usually change which should be the one used. Although slightly different shades can be used based on the contemporary kits.
The fg color should only be white or black for readability reasons only and the bordercolor shouldn't be used in my opinion. I have done it and now restored it for the 2024 mT20WC squad boxes; I will do 2026 next. But, a similar pattern should be done for other navboxes as well.
I'm open to further discussions about this...! Vestrian24Bio 08:45, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Agreed! Although I still think that contrasting fg doesn't cause readability issues tho. Thanks for working on this man Cric editor (talk) 09:21, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Didn't mean fg color causes readability issues. I don't see the need for any fg color usage other than using black in a light bg and white in a dark bg. Vestrian24Bio 09:30, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Got that! My point is just that contrasting colors for text/links are allowed according to MOS:COLORS, so maybe it's just not a stretch. Cric editor (talk) 09:34, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Cric editor: also, if we settle down on colors for each format then we can create a coloring template which would make maintenance easier. Vestrian24Bio 09:34, 15 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
That will actually be very helpful for the editors who create such templates in the future, seems like a good idea. Cric editor (talk) 13:28, 15 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Cric editor: If you could fill the tables at User:Vestrian24Bio/tmp1 with appropriate hex values; I'll incorporate it into a template. Thanks, Vestrian24Bio 03:55, 21 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have updated the men's table with some changes suggestions for 2-3 teams per WP:MOS and to maintain consistency. Cric editor (talk) 19:04, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

WIkiProject Doctor Who: April 2026 Newsletter

The Space-Time Telegraph
Volume IV, Issue I — April 2026
Brought to you by the editors of WikiProject Doctor Who

A new newsletter materializing? Quick, help us reverse the polarity of the neutron flow so it can safely land on your talk pages!

Don't be lasagna (because there's a new newsletter to read)

Hello, and welcome to our first 2026 issue of The Space-Time Telegraph. Inside you'll find plenty of information about recent happenings in our little Who corner of Wikipedia. We've also included a plethora of Doctor Who news you may have missed elsewhere in the last few months such as the finding of previously missing episodes, upcoming and recent product releases, a new streaming home for Who across the pond (and even a potential future partnership for new episodes). So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and jump on in!

Into the Vortex! (Of Good and Featured Content)

Since our newsletter last December, the Doctor Who WikiProject has seen a large amount of quality article improvement. So far, 16 Good Articles have been improved this year! We're at about the same pace we were last year, which is always good to see, especially given the twelve other articles nominated for GA status at present. Special shoutouts to users Rhain for their improvements on First Doctor serials, SkywalkerEccleston for their various improvements across a wide variety of articles, Lbal for their work on Full Circle (Doctor Who), and Doomitron for their work on Sixth Doctor.
Additionally, since then, Ice Warrior has been improved to Featured Article status, List of Doctor Who creatures and aliens and List of Doctor Who characters have been improved to Featured List status, and three Good Topics focused on articles relating to the Midnight Entity, the Slitheen, and Doctor Who series 15 have been nominated and approved.
Congratulations to all of the users who have improved quality Doctor Who articles in the past few months!

A flabbergasting discovery

In March, it was announced that episodes 1 ("The Nightmare Begins") and 3 ("Devil's Planet") of The Daleks' Master Plan were found by the charity Film is Fabulous! in a private collection among some films. The collector gave them permission to have them and sadly passed away not long after. Upon learning of the discovery through Toby Hadoke, actor Peter Purves, who starred in the episodes alongside William Hartnell and Adrienne Hill, said "My flabber has never been so gasted". The episodes were shown at a BFI screening (with Purves in attendance) in April and are now available on BBC iPlayer in the UK and the official Doctor Who Classic YouTube channel in the US. This means that episodes 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 of The Daleks' Master Plan are now available.
It has been hinted that more could be found in the near future as 95 episodes remain missing.

Intelligence Bulletin from the Subwave Network

  • The 1996 American-produced Doctor Who television film was remastered in 4K using the original film reels for a Blu-ray release this May. The restored version includes both the UK and U.S. broadcast versions and new special features.
  • Big Finish Productions recently extended their contract with the BBC to continue licensing the Doctor Who franchise intellectual property for audio stories through 2035. The first new production to be confirmed following this announcement, is a fifteen-part box set featuring David Tennant set to begin releasing bimonthly next year.
  • In February, the First Doctor serial The Rescue was published on vinyl record as a special release for Record Store Day in the United Kingdom.
  • Circuit Breaker, a new multi-platform story starring Jo Martin as the Fugitive Doctor was announced by BBC Studios to launch this June. Spanning audio, books, comics, games, magazine, internet, and Blu-ray releases, tells a singular interconnected story about UNIT's Black Archive across several mediums.
  • Seventeen years after its last release, Character Options is releasing a new five-part set of Doctor Who figures beginning in July.
  • In the United States, AMC+ has secured rights to be the exclusive streaming video on demand host of all 2005–2022 Doctor Who episodes. This era of Who has been unavailable to stream in the States since its removal from HBO Max in July 2025. Noticeably absent from press releases are mention of spin-off series Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures; while these shows have historically been packaged with this era of Who in streaming deals on HBO Max, before that on Amazon Prime Video, as well as Netflix and Hulu in the ancient days, there is no confirmation if these will be included. Elsewhere in America, Classic Who has it's own streaming home on BritBox (yes, BritBox still exists on this side of the pond), while the 60th anniversary specials and Gatwa's era remain on Disney+ for the foreseeable future. Disney has also yet to release The War Between the Land and the Sea, a five-part miniseries previously marketed by the company as releasing outside of the UK and Ireland in "early 2026". There is also no news on where, if anywhere, future episodes of Who will air or stream in the United States (or elsewhere worldwide, for that matter); however, AMC Global Media (the owner of AMC+) owns BBC America, which it regularly licenses BBC content for and was the linear broadcaster of Who from 2009–2022, and a non-controlling ownership stake in BritBox. AMC+ was also previously the next-day streamer of Who episodes during the Jodie Whittaker/Chris Chibnall-era as a transitional period between their broadcast on BBC America and release on HBO Max. Given this, and the global reach of AMC+, it's a feasible home for future new episodes and even the rumored potential of a co-production deal to fill the funding deficit left by Disney.

Temporary account IP viewer granted

edit
The temporary account IP viewer logo, composed of the Wikipedia globe with a user and an IP address

Hello, Vestrian24Bio. Per your request, your account has been granted temporary-account-viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:

  • You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
  • Access must not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).

It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:

  • When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
  • Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
  • Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or more IP addresses (using the CIDR notation format).

Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences. Happy editing! – robertsky (talk) 14:26, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
