Emma Watson edit

edit

Stop icon You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to Emma Watson. This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.

Important points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive behavior – regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.

You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing.

Okay, thanks. I've read it and I understand. But, I would like to note two things: first, I think her modeling is notable and secondly she quit acting so it should say "former actress". Spectritus (talk) 14:12, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
You don't get to decide though. Seasider53 (talk) 14:21, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Why would we not say former when she clearly stated that she has quit acting? Tell me. Spectritus (talk) 14:33, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
As for her notability as model it was debated in the original discussion but the debate was never finished so I think it's worth opening a new discussion. Spectritus (talk) 14:35, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Well then, "retired" is different than "former" since she will return back to the role soon, says https://variety.com/2023/film/news/emma-watson-acting-break-five-years-caged-1235600852/ Q Gravelle (talk) 15:42, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

New Audrey image

edit

I don't like the black and white image. The article was already perfect before. As she's a spirit now, she's been living with me since late 2023. I don't want to see a black and white image on her article. --~2026-17547-21 (talk) 18:58, 21 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

@~2026-17547-21 It's standard practice to use a black and white image for deceased people if a free one is available. Spectritus (talk) 07:53, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@~2026-17547-21 If you prefer there's also File:Audrey Hepburn 1956 (2).jpg. Spectritus (talk) 07:57, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please refrain from saying "deceased", that's disrespectful. I have soulmate connection to her and don't need others mentioning the word deceased. She's never dead, just becuse she doesn't have a body, doesn't mean she ain't around. She's a spirit. And I don't like looking at the black and white image, it's an utter eyesore. And no, it's not a standard practise to use black and white images. Coloured ones are just as timeless. I hppe you understand thank you! --~2026-17547-21 (talk) 10:48, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
There is actually no official policy stating that images of "deceased" people must be in black and white. --~2026-17547-21 (talk) 10:58, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@~2026-17547-21 It's still standard practice when there's a free one which is the case here. Spectritus (talk) 11:27, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Short descriptions

edit

Hi Spectritus. This change was not constructive. Short description should be short; see WP:SDLENGTH. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 00:22, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Robby.is.on Hello. I understand your concern, but I think it's still short enough and it should show all of the person's occupations not just one as it would be misleading. Spectritus (talk) 09:57, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Short descriptions should ideally use 40 characters or less, your version had 82 characters. They are meant to help readers identify the desired article when searching. We don't need to list all of a subject's occupations for people to be able to realise they have found the article they're looking for.
From reading the article it appears that Wiseman was primarily known for making film documentaries so the short description "filmmaker" – or alternatively "documentarian" – seems sufficient to me. Robby.is.on (talk) 10:46, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Your Arbitrary Selective Changes of Words in American English to British English

edit

I read the summary of your edit, where you repeatedly changed two selective words from American English to British English. Therein, you state "Subject isn't American and therefore the article shouldn't be in US English.", while the subject itself is German. Foremost, I did not find any criterion for WP articles from which your reasoning follows. For instance, your edit actually goes against MOS:ENGVAR as it mixes both versions in the same article, even for the same word. Hence, I cannot see any improvement from your edit, quite the contrary. Could you please point me to the regulation from which you draw your reasoning? Otherwise, I consider your edits as erroneous. Proof finder (talk) 16:14, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Proof finder Perhaps, I misinterpreted the rule and it's just US English in articles about Unitedstatesian subjects and UK English in articles about British subjects. Can you confirm? Also, that article already mixed both since it used the British date format and some US spellings before I edited it. Spectritus (talk) 16:55, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your quick reply! Okay, I suppose that I can then safely revert your edit. I assume that you were thinking of MOS:TIES, right? For a German academic in mathematics, I can clearly not identify strong ties to any particular English-speaking country (see also MOS:DATETIES). My interpretation of that rule is furthermore that it does not apply to any, e.g., US or British subject, but only those that have specifically national ties, e.g., an article about a place therein, but not necessarily a person (if not, for instance, a president of such a place).
For the article in question, MOS:RETAIN makes much more sense to me.
Sure, feel free to edit the date format and some other British spellings therein. What I found particularly disturbing about your edit was that you did only edit a subset of all occurrences for the particular word you were editing. Proof finder (talk) 17:21, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Proof finder I didn't go through the entire article, that's why I didn't change all the US spellings. I will leave the British date format as it's commonly used in articles about people from non-English-speaking countries. Spectritus (talk) 17:36, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

WIkiProject Doctor Who: April 2026 Newsletter

edit
The Space-Time Telegraph
Volume IV, Issue I — April 2026
Brought to you by the editors of WikiProject Doctor Who

A new newsletter materializing? Quick, help us reverse the polarity of the neutron flow so it can safely land on your talk pages!

Don't be lasagna (because there's a new newsletter to read)

Hello, and welcome to our first 2026 issue of The Space-Time Telegraph. Inside you'll find plenty of information about recent happenings in our little Who corner of Wikipedia. We've also included a plethora of Doctor Who news you may have missed elsewhere in the last few months such as the finding of previously missing episodes, upcoming and recent product releases, a new streaming home for Who across the pond (and even a potential future partnership for new episodes). So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and jump on in!

Into the Vortex! (Of Good and Featured Content)

Since our newsletter last December, the Doctor Who WikiProject has seen a large amount of quality article improvement. So far, 16 Good Articles have been improved this year! We're at about the same pace we were last year, which is always good to see, especially given the twelve other articles nominated for GA status at present. Special shoutouts to users Rhain for their improvements on First Doctor serials, SkywalkerEccleston for their various improvements across a wide variety of articles, Lbal for their work on Full Circle (Doctor Who), and Doomitron for their work on Sixth Doctor.
Additionally, since then, Ice Warrior has been improved to Featured Article status, List of Doctor Who creatures and aliens and List of Doctor Who characters have been improved to Featured List status, and three Good Topics focused on articles relating to the Midnight Entity, the Slitheen, and Doctor Who series 15 have been nominated and approved.
Congratulations to all of the users who have improved quality Doctor Who articles in the past few months!

A flabbergasting discovery

In March, it was announced that episodes 1 ("The Nightmare Begins") and 3 ("Devil's Planet") of The Daleks' Master Plan were found by the charity Film is Fabulous! in a private collection among some films. The collector gave them permission to have them and sadly passed away not long after. Upon learning of the discovery through Toby Hadoke, actor Peter Purves, who starred in the episodes alongside William Hartnell and Adrienne Hill, said "My flabber has never been so gasted". The episodes were shown at a BFI screening (with Purves in attendance) in April and are now available on BBC iPlayer in the UK and the official Doctor Who Classic YouTube channel in the US. This means that episodes 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 of The Daleks' Master Plan are now available.
It has been hinted that more could be found in the near future as 95 episodes remain missing.

Intelligence Bulletin from the Subwave Network

  • The 1996 American-produced Doctor Who television film was remastered in 4K using the original film reels for a Blu-ray release this May. The restored version includes both the UK and U.S. broadcast versions and new special features.
  • Big Finish Productions recently extended their contract with the BBC to continue licensing the Doctor Who franchise intellectual property for audio stories through 2035. The first new production to be confirmed following this announcement, is a fifteen-part box set featuring David Tennant set to begin releasing bimonthly next year.
  • In February, the First Doctor serial The Rescue was published on vinyl record as a special release for Record Store Day in the United Kingdom.
  • Circuit Breaker, a new multi-platform story starring Jo Martin as the Fugitive Doctor was announced by BBC Studios to launch this June. Spanning audio, books, comics, games, magazine, internet, and Blu-ray releases, tells a singular interconnected story about UNIT's Black Archive across several mediums.
  • Seventeen years after its last release, Character Options is releasing a new five-part set of Doctor Who figures beginning in July.
  • In the United States, AMC+ has secured rights to be the exclusive streaming video on demand host of all 2005–2022 Doctor Who episodes. This era of Who has been unavailable to stream in the States since its removal from HBO Max in July 2025. Noticeably absent from press releases are mention of spin-off series Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures; while these shows have historically been packaged with this era of Who in streaming deals on HBO Max, before that on Amazon Prime Video, as well as Netflix and Hulu in the ancient days, there is no confirmation if these will be included. Elsewhere in America, Classic Who has it's own streaming home on BritBox (yes, BritBox still exists on this side of the pond), while the 60th anniversary specials and Gatwa's era remain on Disney+ for the foreseeable future. Disney has also yet to release The War Between the Land and the Sea, a five-part miniseries previously marketed by the company as releasing outside of the UK and Ireland in "early 2026". There is also no news on where, if anywhere, future episodes of Who will air or stream in the United States (or elsewhere worldwide, for that matter); however, AMC Global Media (the owner of AMC+) owns BBC America, which it regularly licenses BBC content for and was the linear broadcaster of Who from 2009–2022, and a non-controlling ownership stake in BritBox. AMC+ was also previously the next-day streamer of Who episodes during the Jodie Whittaker/Chris Chibnall-era as a transitional period between their broadcast on BBC America and release on HBO Max. Given this, and the global reach of AMC+, it's a feasible home for future new episodes and even the rumored potential of a co-production deal to fill the funding deficit left by Disney.
