Kent Parker

Hello @StefenTower. I recently created the article Kent Parker which you kindly reviewed and edited. I've made a number of revisions to make the tone less like a resume. I'm hoping you could take another look and let me know if I could remove the template. As far as meeting Wikipedia:Notability, I think I've provided adequate citations. If nothing else, the patents seem like they should be enough. If not, what other suggestions do you have? Thank you Variety312 (talk) 22:52, 3 November 2025 (UTC)

Thank you as well for improvements. However, I find that the tags continue to apply. There is very little WP:SIGCOV for his professional career - really, just one article that I found in the mix, which may be perceived by readers as a lack of notability. Also, the content about his professional career is structured in resume-like sectioning, per company, when, combined with the lack of SIGCOV, comes off as a resume/CV. We need to see a lot more WP:SECONDARY coverage of the subject at these positions; otherwise, he's a non-notable business executive (and most are non-notable, like most in any given profession). The bottom line is that if the article was submitted to WP:AFD, I'm not confident the article would be kept as of this moment. Stefen 𝕋ower's got the power!!1! Speedy deletion nomination of Category:1847 disestablishments in Indiana

A tag has been placed on Category:1847 disestablishments in Indiana indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 19:48, 14 November 2025 (UTC)

I created this by mistake as I wasn't paying close enough attention to the establishment/disestablishment years in 5th Indiana Volunteers. Please delete. Stefen 𝕋ower's got the power!!1! GabGruntwerk 19:54, 14 November 2025 (UTC)

Stay off my talk page. Viriditas (talk) 20:24, 14 December 2025 (UTC)

I think you may prefer that response to your baseless personal attacks than having this discussion at WP:ANI. In my 59 years of life, I have never been so viciously attacked than you did me, after I completed a lot of research that YOU requested. Never. And it was baseless and brutally unfair, all because you cannot handle the possibility that a photograph from nearly 90 years ago may be involved in a case of yellow journalism.
Now, you stay off my talk page. You are a proven brutal, un-wiki individual who does not assume good faith, and I dare say, does not belong here in our movement. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 20:31, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
To wit, this individual compared me to "Fox News" and a demonic person who declared a school massacre of young children was fake, and then expects me to continue discussion about original research on-wiki, where it does not belong. This was very deserving of an ANI case.
And to this individual, I ask at this point to cease the harassment on this talk page, all because we have different opinions about a f**king photo. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 20:49, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
By the way, thank you for the additional evidence of PA (see the edit summary). I shall keep it in my lockbox for safekeeping until one day needed. At any rate, the removal of your baseless attacks is wise because of the grossly unfair maligning of a WikiProject that came along with your brutality toward me. ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:18, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Objectivity is to Assume Good Faith

State and regional pride may affect a person's perspective in such a way that they become blind to facts even when they have been suppressed by willful ignorance. I reverted two of your edits on the Kentucky Colonel article because according to state commissioning records at KDLA the first commissions were issued by McCreary in 1875, not W.O. Bradley in 1894 who was not even Governor yet. Further information presented in court suggest that there is no starting point in 1813 and that the HOKC has not operated in good faith by introducing a fictional backstory (i.e. 1813 with Governor Shelby and Chas. Todd). Considering as much they should probably be removed from the article as they have compounded upon a myth, see the Historical Markers at Boonesborough. Civilian Officer (talk) 23:04, 15 December 2025 (UTC)

One of the most notable commissions made by McCreary was Henry Watterson, Editor-in-Chief of the Louisville Courier Journal. Civilian Officer (talk) 23:07, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
You are injecting straight-up nonsense into the article. At the very least, you should do a better job of adding only the parts that make some encyclopedic sense. There is no "1833s" and "Kentucy" was not misspelled that way in the provided source. By the way, this discussion belongs on the article's talk page. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 23:32, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
I did not write "Kentucy", dig deeper it was not my edit. I see reviewing the history of the article, there was some compelling historical references made in the past. I did not put "1833s" either (not my edit either), but I see that 1833 may be when the title was first applied historically. Have fun with it, whether you realize it or not it is against the law in the United States to create (or support) a false designation of origin. I am done and disgusted. Civilian Officer (talk) 00:10, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
For the record, I did not make any statement or support any such thing as a "false designation origin". Note WP:THREAT. I just reverted a poor set of edits that need to be redone more carefully. Since we have no WP:DEADLINE, we can wait for the work to be properly done, if it needs to be done at all. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 17:55, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
Also, as I stated on your talk page, the edit history does show you wrote those nonsensical portions of text into the article, so there's that as well. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 18:05, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
@StefenTower Before I touched the article the nonsensical stuff was already there (see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kentucky_Colonel&oldid=1322426351) so again you are wrong and still have not read the references I used. You rolled back good edits. Civilian Officer (talk) 18:32, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
I already rechecked this, and you added the nonsensical bits. I rolled back messy work. See your edits here and here. The only thing I got wrong was the misspelling of Kentucky. You misspelled it as Kentuky, not Kentucy.
Instead of debating this, you could be doing a more careful re-edit of additions. I have not stopped you from doing that. Reverts are not forever in Wikipedia articles. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 18:46, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
@StefenTower I did not misspell it as "Kentuky" or "Kentucy" either, the ONLY thing I did wrong was change 1850s to 1833s instead of 1830s or 1833, which is when the term "Kentucky Colonel" first appeared in a US newspaper. All the other 30+ edits I made were good edits and double checked. For my tiny mistake of leaving the letter 's' in place you rolled back good edits. Civilian Officer (talk) 19:12, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
When multiple aspects of nonsense are spotted, a full revert of material is the prudent thing to do, because if a couple aspects are nonsensical, that suggests additional problems. Therefore, I did the right thing. Now, the right thing for you to do is redo the work and make sure you are not injecting nonsense like before. Or leave it up to other editors to handle. There is nothing else to discuss here. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 19:18, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

Garret Lewis

Hey, Stefen! Maybe you missed it, but the assertion about the public assessment of Lewis' character is supported by the citation just prior to that sentence. Newspapers are public statements. The writer said he could talk long about how trustworthy Lewis was. I don't mean to start an edit war with you by removing the citation. I'm saying this here on your talk page because it's too long for an edit summary. Please let me know if you disagree and one of us can revert my edit. Happy Birthday!

Crazy day

Hi. After my last reply at Wikipedia talk:Database reports I started wondering why I just didn't do what I always used to do all the time before we had the daily updates like here for example. I believe that it is what you suggested as the correct action if needed, right? Why I didn't do exactly that, I don't know, but it really has been a very bizarre day, dealing with the foot of snow, among a few other crazy things, I probably shouldn't have bothered editing today.

I appreciate all you do and thanks for the input. --DB1729talk 01:15, 30 November 2025 (UTC)

Yes, that is the correct action but again, only if really really necessary. The link to regenerate the report usually works, and is pretty much guaranteed to return a clean result, so that is the preferred action. And the most preferred thing of all is letting the report update itself. :)
Re: snow, yuck, I hate it, and I'm sure we'll get our share in Louisville soon enough. But it's a cost in living in a place with seasons. Happy holidays! Stefen 𝕋ower's got the power!!1! GabGruntwerk 01:50, 30 November 2025 (UTC)

Orlando brown Page

Hi Stefen, just wanted to clarify on the Orlando Brown page that the many edits recently have been of a inter/student project who is learning Wikipedia from scratch. They only get a couple hours a day to work on the article, and they do not always have time to cite it before leaving. If you can be patient and let them work on it piecemeal it would be much appreciated. Lhhscurator (talk) 17:51, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

Feel free to use a sandbox for that purpose, but you cannot add uncited material to an article under any circumstances. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 17:56, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

We need a new userbox that says "{username1} has been blocked n fewer times than {username2}". Can another specific user with a shizload of blocks on their record stand the heat? teehee. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 08:09, 15 December 2025 (UTC)

Airport route tables

Hi, just for info - the existing consensus is that airport route tables need to be sourced with independent sources. The guidance is at WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT, which also links to the RfC. I personally may not agree, but that's what the most recent consensus is. Danners430 tweaks made 11:34, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

OK, but your reverts weren't exactly surgical - I did useful cleanup and structural changes outside of that concern that now have to be redone. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 17:47, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
That's mostly because it wasn't clear from your summaries and the diffs which were source changes etc. and what was cleanup. Also, I'd personally be against putting all cites in the refs column - especially where the cite only refers to one or two routes, not everything in that row. Hello! Remember me from TheManTheyCallAdam? What if I tell you that there is a similar user, right now, damaging Wikipedia with WP:OR and uncited content, even if he is warned several times. And what if I tell you, that I already reported him twice at WP:ANI with dozens of examples of such edits of that user, they both got to nowhere, and he's still continuing. When I make another report at WP:ANI, can I get you check these edits and decide what should be done (just like Adam, he doesn't reply to anything)? I'd be really happy with your answer, Jako96 (talk) 20:47, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

Sure, I'd be happy to assist. Let me know when you report. Coincidentally, I may also have another candidate for ANI soon myself, someone injecting a series of problematic edits into a good-rated article while being radio-silent and using temporary accounts for reverts. What a fun site this is sometimes. :) Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 21:02, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

Thanks, Stefen

I've noticed all the help and corrections you've made on all the editing I've doing on Frances Farmer's page. I've been trying to learn from your corrections. For example, I notice we don't (do not) contract unless it's a direct quote? Why is that, I can't help but wonder? But I'll (I will) try hard to avoid contractions in the future. I also notice a dash correction but that one I haven't been able to figure out how to do myself on my keyboard. Just wondering if you could explain how I do that - when you have the time, of course! Thanks!

Cheers, Rand Poiluj (talk) 23:24, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

Hi. I sometimes link to something that explains the change in Wikipedia's Manual of Style. For contractions, it's MOS:CONTRACTION. The overall idea is that we write in WP:FORMAL language for an encyclopedia.
As far as dashes are concerned, the Wikipedia editor provides the en-dash and em-dash among other symbols. I don't use the keyboard for dashes, as the sequence is too difficult to recall. But I keep them around in my notes app or clipboard for easy access if necessary. Hope this helps. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 03:03, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
