Hello! I've seen the adoption program before but didn't read all of it. It seems like something that would help me a lot in learning here and I would definitely be interested. I read through the page and it seems like something really useful! Though, I have a question - how active do I have to be on Wikipedia to partcipate? I have a lot of free time so it should be possible anyways, but I'd still rather know in advance :) --cheesewhisk3rs (pester) 16:07, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your edit on Battle for Dream Island

edit

@Not-cheesewhisk3rs Regarding this edit (link) on Battle for Dream Island, WP:SEEALSO states one of the purposes of a "See also" section is to help readers discover "tangentially related" articles that are relevant to the same "defining topic". Likewise, it will take forever to list all the differences between BFDI and Drawn Together, but they ultimately are both cartoon reality-TV parodies. Total Drama, arguably BFDI's closest contemporary, cannot be mentioned as its first season is already linked in the body. Giovanni Potage (talk) 20:08, 28 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Talk:Battle for Dream Island/Archive 2#"Drawn Together" - this was not resolved. A new discussion could be started to establish consensus on what belongs in the see also. --not-cheesewhisk3rs ≽^•⩊•^≼ ∫ (pester) 08:18, 29 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I agree, I've been considering restarting that discussion for quite a while now. No participant gave a clear MOS-allied rationale for removing the mention of Drawn Together. Giovanni Potage (talk) 08:20, 29 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
It would've been more helpful to restart the discussion before trying to re-add Drawn Together. --not-cheesewhisk3rs ≽^•⩊•^≼ ∫ (pester) 08:22, 29 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Also - this repeats my point in the disccusion I linked above - a see also section is not required. If Drawn Together is the closest to BFDI, but then Drawn Together is removed, re-adding it for the sake of having a see also section isn't necessary. --not-cheesewhisk3rs ≽^•⩊•^≼ ∫ (pester) 08:20, 29 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Your submission at Articles for creation: Alien Chicks (December 4)

edit
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Nil NZ was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Unfortunately this doesn't quite make it over the line for WP:NMUSIC yet. It comes close to WP:BAND#1, but would require more coverage from additional publishers that aren't verbatim interviews or republished press releases (i.e. single or tour announcements).
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

It turns out what happened is that a user was transcluding the article into a sandbox page in their personal userspace — which obviously also transcluded the article's categories onto that sandbox page. So when I tried to remove the categories from that sandbox page, they came off the article instead because that's where they actually were. Thanks for the catch, I've already fixed it a different way. Bearcat (talk) 15:36, 12 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Hello, I'm Sundayclose. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, MQS, but you didn't provide a reliable source. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation, your edit is archived in the page history. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Although a source at the disambiguation page is not required, the term must be reliably sourced at Mary, Queen of Scots. It would've been much simpler to only write the last sentence instead of leaving a templated message which isn't even relevant to the situation (as you wrote, the change shouldn't be sourced at the disambiguation page). --not-cheesewhisk3rs ≽^•⩊•^≼ ∫ (pester) 15:38, 22 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Help/Advice with GlossGenius AfC

edit

Hi not-cheesewhisk3rs-

I noticed you made some helpful/constructive contributions to an article I was working on, GlossGenius, and wanted to say thanks! The article is currently stuck in draftspace unfortunately. I was wondering if you could provide any advice/help on what changes to make to move it into Main Space. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia so any advice is appreciated ! JamesH97 (talk) 22:56, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi JamesH97 - to get the draft accepted, you need to understand notability. I don't know if you do know what notability is, but if you don't: Notability is the requirement that an article has been covered by multiple (2 or more) sources which are reliable (what the sources say are true), secondary (e.g. a news article or a book, but not a social media post or the subject's website), independent (the article subject was not involved in making the source), and non-trivial (more than just a passing mention of the subject in the source).
I highly recommend you read WP:42 as it summarises the actual notability guidelines, which are confusing as they rely on the reader having prior knowledge on lots of stuff.
That said, the GlossGenius draft was declined for the following two notability-related issues:
1) Not having independent sources. This is tricky to fix because you have to assess every sourcw individually and try to judge whether the source is independent. I don't review drafts so I don't knkw if there might be a better way to tell whether a source is independent or not.
2) The sources only have passing mentions of GlossGenius. The Forbes source is a good example. It only has a little section about GlossGenius. GlossGenius is clearly not the topic of the article, so the source counts as a trivial mention.
Final note: I mostly wrote about non-trivial and indepenent sources here, but sources that can be used to establish notability must also be reliable and secondary. So, to establish notability and get your draft published, you need at least two reliable, secondary, independent, non-trivial sources.
Apart from having to show notability, the draft looks good to me. Hope this helps (and sorry if it's too long) :) --not-cheesewhisk3rs ≽^•⩊•^≼ ∫ (pester) 17:46, 21 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Your contributions are greatly appreciated, and we at WikiProject Warriors would like to thank you for your work. Saw this on my watchlist, and wow I don't think I've ever seen someone maintaining the Warriors articles since I joined the WikiProject! I create or classify a lot of redirects. I create quite a few talk pages too. Thanks for spotting those cases where I've managed to pick the wrong 4-letter template call. I should have noticed, if I was doing what I often tell other editors to do, and "look at the result of your edit to make sure it's done what you wanted"! Ah well, I usually get it right. Thanks for spotting the not-so-unique errors. Happy Editing. PamD 17:15, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

IMO it was quite unique. I think I've found every instance of where it happened at Special:WhatLinksHere/Wikipedia:WikiProject. Cheers, --not-cheesewhisk3rs ≽^•⩊•^≼ ∫ (pester) 20:33, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

  • Special report: What actually happened during the Wikimedia security incident?
A horrifying exploit took place, which could have had catastrophic and far-reaching consequences if used maliciously; instead, it seems to have happened by accident and was used for childish vandalism. How did this happen, and what did the script actually do?

Thank you for this work you do around here. Now tell me- how you got so good at editing? Пямвӑл21 калаҫу 12:03, 3 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi Пямвӑл21, welcome to Wikipedia! Getting started at editing is tricky (and very frustrating sometimes), unfortunately I don't have much advice other than try not to argue if you do something wrong early on. However once you know a little bit about how stuff works here, for example if you know what assume good faith means and keep it in mind, the easiest way to make good contributions is to edit about topics you enjoy. That's what I do anyways. E.g. Sea balls and Wikipedia philosophy phenomenon, very interesting topics . DYK for Warriors (novel series)

edit

On 28 April 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Warriors (novel series), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the range of characters in a fantasy novel series about cats was compared to that of a Greek drama? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Warriors (novel series). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Warriors (novel series)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Please archive

edit

Hello! I just wanted to request that you archive your user talk page. While it may not be bothersome to you, many editors have slow connections, and having a very large talk page can hamper communication. If you need help, just check out the guide over at Help:Archiving a talk page. Thanks! Viyowoyero-vya-Malaŵi (talk) 00:49, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

I'd rather not archive it but I might delete some messages eventually. I have loaded this talk page on a not very modern smartphone with a slow connection and it did not take very long to load. So, I'd say it's fine. --not-cheesewhisk3rs ≽^•⩊•^≼ ∫ (pester) 12:58, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
