Draft article improvement direction(s)

edit

Howdy Toby,

You recently rejected a draft article of mine. I would like to know where you found the sources to be unreliable or insufficient to improve it. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope this message has found you well and that you may help me. I apologise in advance if it is inappropriate to ask questions here.

Cheers,

mooshrooms Mooshrooms (talk) 12:09, 7 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Mooshrooms. Here's an analysis of the sources:
1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 10 are all venues to download the game/related media or view basic information. There is no synthesis from secondary sources that prove why the game is notable.
3 is unreliable (see WP:VG/UNREL)
6 is a primary source and does not prove why the game is notable
8 seems unreliable. The author is attributed with their first name only and there is no editorial policy or staff page
Even if 7 is reliable, one working source is not enough. You can see WP:VGRS for sources you should and shouldn't use for video game articles. toby (t)(c)(rw) 18:27, 7 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi there,
I have updated the article with more reliable sources and removed the more questionable sources. I'm not sure if I should resubmit it or ask you? Nonetheless, I'd really appreciated if you took a look again at my sources. I apologise if I'm not supposed to ask this here.
Cheers Mooshrooms (talk) 09:42, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Can you add one or two more sources? The reliable ones listed in WP:VGRS are especially needed. Eurogamer and 148apps look good. You can submit your draft at anytime. toby (t)(c)(rw) 15:26, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hey there,
Just wanted to thank you for all your help and guidance. Thanks.

Promotion of Rain World

edit
Congratulations, Tarlby! The article you nominated, Rain World, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main Page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, David Fuchs (talk) via FACBot (talk) 23:06, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations!!!

edit

Hopefully you don't mind me creating a talk page section to say congratu-freaking-lations on the promotion of Rain World! It's such a well-written, well-sourced, well-organized, and well-presented article that I'm surprised you've never brought any other article to FAC or even GAN. For your first venture, it is amazing. Great job!!! nub :) 00:24, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you @Nub098765, it means a lot.
Ironically, I honestly dislike the process of content creation, which probably explains my lack of GAs and authored articles. It just feels like a slog for me to parse through sources and organize them into an article... which I think makes it even more special for me that I took the time to work on this particular article since February 2024. It took a lot of time and a lot of opinions from people more experienced than me. I don't think I could have done it without the amazing foundation the author @Czar made and left back in 2017. There were a lot of breaks in-between, but I'm still proud of myself. Thank you! Now I just have to think about what other article I can work on for the next two years. toby (t)(c)(rw) 00:35, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I can relate. Unless I'm really dedicated to a topic, I'm terrible at looking through sources. My attention enters a void from which I cannot pull it. 3 of my 6 total GANs have been improvements on foundations. Hopefully the article Fortnite Battle Royale can follow the same pipeline Rain World has with you. I wish you luck on Omori, a game which I have never played but which countless people have recommended to me. Perhaps I should play it. Anyway, again, nice job! nub :) 01:06, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Playing Omori was an unforgettable experience for me. I implore you to play it.
And good luck with your work on Fortnite! toby (t)(c)(rw) 01:30, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I just might!
And thank you!
Have a nice day :) nub :) 03:28, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations, Toby! You deserved it. Vacant0 (talk contribs) 13:17, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Congrats on getting Rain World to FA! It's one of my favorite games, so it's great to see someone putting so much time and effort into giving it the attention it deserves! Gasmasque (talk) 23:00, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. And yeah, it absolutely deserves the attention! toby (t)(c)(rw) 01:03, 9 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I am contacting you because you previously voted in elections related to the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C). You may be eligible to vote in the current U4C election, which is open now and closes on 2 June 2026. You can find out more about the candidates and the election on the election page on Meta, and from there you can access the vote itself. Your participation in these elections is important to the governance of Wikimedia communities, and your time spent learning about the candidates and voting is appreciated.

"Draft:Template:Drake songs" Discussion

edit

Although a template for Drake's songs already exists, there is no room for Habibti or Maid of Honour, alongside all of Drake's featured songs, as list templates like these can only fit 20 sections. Therefore, I fit every song in less sections, giving my version a much different design. Vloggakid (talk) 02:30, 23 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Vloggakid Sorry, forgot to respond to this. Since the template exists, is there no reason for you to edit it yourself? toby (t)(c)(rw) 19:55, 28 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Looking at the source, although there are supposed to be additional sections to the original template, they do not appear, as they exceed the limit of 20 sections. Unless there is a glitch, or a patch that extends the limit, this is not possible, at least, I do not think so. Vloggakid (talk) 12:53, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Weird. Though still, I don't believe submitting a template to AfC is the right way to go about it, as it is still better to update the existing template. You can ask for help on the template then. toby in solidarity 15:42, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

FA review of Well-being

edit

Hello Tarlby and congratulations on getting Rain World to FA status! I was wondering whether you may be interested in reviewing the article Well-being at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Well-being/archive1 since the article hasn't received enough reviews so far. Thank you for taking a look and please feel under no obligation if now is not a good time. Phlsph7 (talk) 08:43, 30 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hey @Phlsph7, and thanks. I might help out eventually (it's close to the end of exam season!), but I generally avoid topics that are broad and significant like Well-being. I'll keep this in mind though and check it out later. toby in solidarity 23:54, 30 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ah alright, let's see if it works out. Good luck for your exams. Phlsph7 (talk) 07:45, 31 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Guest book

edit

Hi, Tarlby ... in the Teahouse (I think it was there), you recently posted something about a guest book, but now I can't find it. At the time I noticed it, I was focused elsewhere and so I planned to come back to it.

I remember one thing about it, though, that I must share with you. Somewhere in that post of yours I was startled — but in a delightful way — to see my name mentioned in connection with some sort of inspiration you mentioned. It couldn't have come at a more perfect time because a few days earlier in the Teahouse I'd had a rare skirmish with another editor after I'd responded to a message he or she had posted with what turned out to be slightly misplaced humor, as you may have seen. I apologized and I think everything's fine now, but it was a bit painful for both the other editor, apparently, and me. So your cheery little note buried in your message was just the right medicine for me! Augnablik (talk) 05:18, 1 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hey @Augnablik! Yes, I accidentally pinged you when creating my WP:GUESTBOOK which you can see here. I included on that page various little thoughts I've written overtime on my user page, and one of them is in reference to you!
And I am glad to have improved your mood with that. I hope you have a great day :) Happy editing! toby in solidarity 17:17, 1 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Well, if your ping wasn't intended but it brought about a delightfully recuperative result, I'd like to nominate it for a perfect example, although in a secular setting, of the Christian saying, "O happy fault!";)
So I see by your signature these days that you're back to Toby. Should we expect regular changes of user names, then? I guess it's one good way of keeping us mentally in shape.
When I went to sign your guestbook, I noticed the directions were for those who use the Source editor. I'm in the minority of editors who prefer the Visual editor. I can deal with having to use the Source editor from time to time, though with gritted teeth, but just thought to squawk a little. Since joining Wikipedia and immediately gravitating to the VE, but finding myself in a definite minority among editors, I've increasingly gained sympathy for left-handers. I'm sure that with your own appreciation for humor, you can see what I was trying to say. But by the time you read this, I'll probably have succeeded in signing. Augnablik (talk) 11:02, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I like that proverb!
I have various usernames across multiple social media sites, including Tarlby, Croissant, Toby, and Toe Beans (did you get the joke for the last one?). Out of the four, I think Toby is simply the best one. It's personal, friendly, and not too confusing like Tarlby. For the foreseeable future, I intend to keep it, because I like it :)
And yes, I did get the joke. I used to always use Visual Editor when I was a newer editor, but I've slowly been using the source editor more and more as time goes on. Thank you for signing the Guestbook! toby in solidarity 20:38, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Toby is a nice name, though I rather liked Tarlby too.
