ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Signpost exit poll

edit

Dear Wikipedian, you recently voted in the ArbCom election. Your username, along with around 155 other usernames of your fellow Wikipedians, was randomly selected from the 2000+ Wikipedians who voted this year, with the help of one of the election-commissioners. If you are willing, could you please participate (at your option either on-wiki via userspace or off-wiki via email) in an exit poll, and answer some questions about how you decided amongst the ArbCom candidates?

If you decide to participate in this exit poll, the statistical results will be published in the Signpost, an online newspaper with over 1000 Wikipedians among the readership. There are about twelve questions, which have alphanumerical answers; it should take you a few minutes to complete the exit poll questionnaire, and will help improve Wikipedia by giving future candidates information about what you think is important. This is only an unofficial survey, and will have no impact on your actual vote during this election, nor in any future election.

All questions are individually optional, and this entire exit poll itself is also entirely optional, though if you choose not to participate, I would appreciate a brief reply indicating why you decided not to take part (see Question Zero). Thanks for being a Wikipedian

The questionnaire

edit

Dear Wikipedian, please fill out these questions -- at your option via usertalk or via email, see Detailed Instructions at the end of the twelve questions -- by putting the appropriate answer in the blanks provided. If you decide not to answer a question (all questions are optional), please put the reason down: "undecided" / "private information" / "prefer not to answer" / "question is not well-posed" / "other: please specify". Although the Signpost cannot guarantee that complex answers can be processed for publication, it will help us improve future exit polls, if you give us comments about why you could not answer specific questions.

Detailed Instructions: you are welcome to answer these questions via usertalk (easiest), or via email (for a modicum of privacy).

We do promise to try hard, not to make any mistakes, in the processing and presentation of your answers. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact column-editor GamerPro64, copy-editor 75.108.94.227, or copy-editor Ryk72. Thanks for reading, and thanks for helping Wikipedia. Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editingespecially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warringeven if you do not violate the three-revert ruleshould your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Best Actress page revision

edit

Hey there! Just wanted to explain in better detail: Shirley's name was already linked on the line for The Turning Point. As with anyone whose name repeats, per section, one link is sufficient. Especially in the immediate line above, lol. But it was an understandable edit, no doubt. The other aspect was the bold part. Her name was in bold because she WON the Oscar for Terms of Endearment. Hell, I probably don't have to tell you that. You seem like a MacLaine fan. If not for Turning Point, it would be both linked and bold. It just so happened she's the only nominee who has been nominated twice alongside another actress in the leading category. Hope that elucidates why it looks like that. --Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 21:09, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Hello, I'm Pbritti. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Adding an unsourced statement based on your personal thoughts then deleting something supported by multiple reliable sources (while asking where those reliable sources are, even though they're cited) is not ideal behavior. ~ Pbritti (talk) 01:27, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I am very sorry if I have deleted a statement that was supported by multiple reliable sources. I was asking about these sources because I couldn't find/see them at the end of the sentence in question or thought the article. This was an honest question, no sarcastic criticism.
Furthermore, the original statement is based on illogical reasoning: the release of multiple versions of an album does not necessarily mean that this album will enter or remain at number 1. It means nothing other than that multiple versions of this album are offered for sale. The fact that fans and listeners buy these multiple versions is due to their buying behaviour. They are not forced by the artist to buy these multiple versions; they can choose not to. Multiple versions of an album do not guarantee that more copies of this album are being sold.
"The release of multiple versions" therefore does not contribute to the longevity of the album at number 1; it is the consumers' willingness to buy these variants and their buying behaviour. Marval4787 (talk) 10:37, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks for your message and the kind appreciation! Thank you!
You don't have to apologize in any way. I am sorry for this. I can get a little too engaged with "correct" wordings, guidelines, and facts. No hard feelings. Though I don't consider myself a KatyCat, I have been enjoying her music from the very start, and I still do. IMHO, she is a talented artist with a great discography and numerous hits. It is a shame how the music industry and critics treated her over the past couple of years/albums, and how fast they turn on (female) singers, believing an artist is past their prime (whatever this means).
I genuinely hope she gets back on track musically (privately, it seems that way) and the recognition she deserves. I myself enjoy Bandaids and the pop-rock sound. Marval4787 (talk) 17:41, 9 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Onorem Many thanks for the gentle reminder, you are right. Marval4787 (talk) 00:49, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I didn't feel like getting back into that discussion. But I saw your reply and to answer your question about determining the weight, the way I did it initially was to compare melania movie vs. melania movie propaganda for the recent week. Like if "propaganda" was mentioned at all or most of them, similar results would be upfront. It's like if Foo was a comedy movie, and we compared foo comedy movie to foo movie and should see the same results. Otherwise, one can specify the domain, like melania movie site:variety.com, filtering for the recent week (to filter out pre-release coverage), and see how different articles talk about the film. I did this with other domains and never felt like "propaganda" rose to warrant being upfront, even as commentary definitely existed. Doing that research did make me feel like one could also argue for introducing it as a vanity project or as a money-laundering mechanism (my findings were why I thought Amazon and the money spent were worth covering). I think per MOS:LEADCLUTTER, we can spread out all these particular points in the opening paragraph. It's not like readers stop reading after the first sentence. In any case, I think I've said everything I need to say there. Cheers! Erik (talk | contrib) 12:59, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Erik: I truly appreciate your response and your valuable insights. Actually, your last argument on the talk page (and your analysis here) makes perfect sense to me and was the reason I changed my position from "propaganda film" to "film using documentary format" (or anything else than "propaganda film"). I absolutely support your initial Option C ("documentary film... it received negative reviews...") as well as its adaptation made by Jon ("American film using a documentary format...). I hope that did not come across wrong/differently on the talk page. Marval4787 (talk) 13:20, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
