For what? If it's for recognizing how great you are, yes. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:15, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
That WMF shouldn't give your name and address to an Indian court, basically. More at Wikipedia_talk:2024_open_letter_to_the_Wikimedia_Foundation#Context?. Me and Gerda signed. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:21, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
How and where do I sign? Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:47, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:2024 open letter to the Wikimedia Foundation. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:10, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
Btw, I don't know if you remember, but I think one of your earliest "clashes" on WP (check your 2017 archive) was with the Great Wikipedian Doug Weller. Sadly, User_talk:Doug_Weller#Update_on_cancer. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:31, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
Sure, I can get behind that.
My interaction with Doug doesn't really qualify as a clash. He was trying to help me by directing me to the Teahouse for additional learning back when I was in a panic over Jytdog. Inexperience on WP on my part, and bias on Jytdog's, produced a perfect storm for me, but Doug was nice about it. I'm very sorry to hear he is ill. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:46, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
He's one of the very few I've contacted off-wiki when I saw the need. Admin, former arbcom member, sound mind. And we were both disliked by a Wikipedian who thought she was a descendant of Jesus and Mary Magdalene (true story). She did some socking and one of her accounts was named Doug Dumbass (subtle). For some reason he don't think is funny, but Great Wikipedians are allowed to be eccentric. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:09, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
Good night nurse!! I don't think I was ever rude to Doug! I hope not. Perhaps if I was it was a case of fork handles... . Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:23, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
That petition took of a bit. I actually started this thread Wikipedia:Community_response_to_Asian_News_International_vs._Wikimedia_Foundation#The_Asian_News_International_vs._Wikimedia_Foundation_situation in October (originally at the the Village pump, but it's been moved), and I'm pretty sure it's the longest WP-thread I've ever started. It's Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_327#Scriptural_texts_(WP:RSPSCRIPTURE) x5. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:31, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
Indeed. A long and seemingly pointless argument imo. Primary sources have limited value and not just in religion. Most commentaries are akin to a modern blog, and should not be quoted as authoritative.
I went to a State school. My religion professors were not all believers, and of those that were, they weren't all Christian. They flunked any paper, any person, who did not practice accepted mainstream scholarship. They defined mainstream scholarship by its use of modern critical method - by "methodological naturalism" - and what is verifiable historically - which in religion, isn't much when it comes down to it. I graduated #1 in my class and won a full ride to Vanderbilt grad school, and I did not do so by quoting dubious commentaries that reflected personal belief. On WP, I have never used a commentary in any religion article I have ever worked on and never will. (I am clearly infinitely superior in every way... and humble of course...)
We just have to follow the same standards no matter the topic. Problem solved. Religion discussions are not quite as bad as politics, but they tend to be filled with passionate personal opinion that is usually blind to its very nature as personal - and that happens on both sides of the divide. Sigh. You and me bud. And Gerda of course. Everyone else is a bit nuts... Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:12, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the laugh! Yep, noone would think there's something nuts in dedicating hours to this place. But as I told my brother recently, I can do this, or something like watch a tv-series, play a video-game, read a novel, solve a crossword (and I do most of those). But WP has elements of all those things, so I like to do that too. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:25, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
It is hard to explain the appeal to non-wikipedias isn't it? Long hours of research and reading, recording minutiae into an outdated format to occasionally obtain over-the-top criticisms from people you'll never meet for work they don't even recognize. Whhoohoo! What fun! At least one of my children thinks I am simply wasting time, and that is no doubt absolutely true from time to time. Yet we all go to WP first when looking something up! But you know, personal tastes are impossible to explain or justify to others. My dad loved golf and that is completely inexplicable to me... :-) Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:41, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
Yes, there are annoying people you encounter, but there is also the complete opposite, like yourself, and that makes it worth it. And the successes, though perhaps minor, can be so effing rewarding. Cooperating with unknown people you perhaps just share a narrow interest with can be so fun.
A while back, the wife of Skeeter Reece asked me if there was any way we could get a pic she had of her husband and a somewhat known boxer onto WP, she had the only copy. I managed to find the photographer who took it in 80:s online (unusual name, now an astronomer and used to be married to Richard Pryor). Mrs Reece called her, and she agreed to do the Commons-thing, which is not that easy for a beginner. So now the world can look at File:The Champ and The Clown.jpg, I put it in every article I could think of. Call me nuts, but I like that. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 21:02, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
Awesome. Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:44, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
Going back to the start of the thread, there's now over a thousand signatures. I don't know if you've been following the India-story at all. This video is a little long, but interesting. And the guy reminds me a bit of Jar Jar Binks. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:47, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from WikiAccumen (07:06, 13 December 2024)

Hi mentor, do you know how to change a photo used on a wikipage? I would like to edit the page of a favorite celebrity to have a nicer more flattering photo, thanks for your kind help on it. --WikiAccumen (talk) 07:06, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

@WikiAccumen More details are needed. Basic rule of thumb is that any random pic you find online is under copyright and can't be used. Apart from old stuff in the public domain, and some stuff by governments, WP is generally restricted to pics uploaded here by the copyright holder, almost always the photographer. We can't use a pic because "nice", we go by "per rulez". So, we have a lot of pics from comic cons etc.
So, with that in mind, what pic did you want to use? If you are in contact with this celebrity, you can point them to Wikipedia:A picture of you. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:00, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
Oh okay, thanks for your response, to be more specific, just wanted to remove a more unflattering pic on the page, the other pics are great and that one is just not representative of the beauty at all, thank you for the helpful details you provided, appreciate it. WikiAccumen (talk) 08:23, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from Writer.ch2 (05:35, 16 December 2024)

Hi! I wanted some help in creating an article- I do have a conflict of interest so I may need help with getting someone else to write it (I can provide sources) or review it.

Thanks! --Writer.ch2 (talk) 05:35, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

If you look at the list on the left of your screen, you will see "Help". Click it, then click on some of the blue-highlighted pages and start reading up. To see what to do about a conflict of interest, go here: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest To start an article, click this one: Your first article . And welcome! Byzantine Empire

Hi @Jenhawk777

I've completed my review of your work in Religion. I wish to thank you for your contribution. You introduced some great new sources and thematically covered things appropriately. I had to make some changes, but it's all based on the work you did with some great sources I enjoyed reading. Thank you. Biz (talk) 06:30, 19 December 2024 (UTC)

I'm glad I was able to help. If you have time on your hands right now, History of Christianity is at FAC and needs a review. Jenhawk777 (talk) 06:42, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
I unfortunately don't, but I'll take a look and see if I can add any value. Biz (talk) 06:49, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
Thanx! Jenhawk777 (talk) 06:58, 19 December 2024 (UTC)

History of C FAC

I saw your comment on Gog's page "I was hoping that someone would read it all the way through and comment on content, but so far the comments have all been about little things that have been easily fixed". I think this shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how FAC works. A reviewer mentions a general problem with the article and gives a couple of specific examples. You fix those examples, add a little "Done" with tick on the review, and move on. But it isn't done at all. This is a common problem with some nominators at FAC, and their noms usually struggle. The reviews you had, even in a few days, raised (often contradicting each other, sure) a long list of basic issues that will not be "easily fixed" at all. Johnbod (talk) 02:12, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

I'm sure you're right, and the fault is in my ignorance of the process and the requirements. What is fixable? Jenhawk777 (talk) 03:18, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from ChloeBella185 (08:28, 22 December 2024)

How do i create a wikipedia page? --ChloeBella185 (talk) 08:28, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

@ChloeBella185, hello! Making an acceptable WP-article (I assume that's what you mean, like for example Wheelbarrow race) without knowing how to edit WP is hard. A common advice is to "just" edit for a while first, to try to get a hang of this place.
That said, your first hurdle is "Can a WP-article about your chosen subject be written at all?" Start with reading WP:BACKWARD. If you conclude "Yeah, I have those sources, no problem!", move on to WP:YFA. If your choice of topic fails WP:N, the article will not be accepted. If you decide to go ahead, you need to learn how to add references correctly, WP:TUTORIAL can help with that. This is crucial, and I can't stress that enough. Really. If you intend to write about a living person, read WP:BLP. If you intend to write about yourself (WP:COI), the short advice is "don't."
Hope this helps some, and Merry Christmas! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:16, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

Joyous Season

Thank you so very much, and the same to you and yours. Bless you. Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:26, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

Merry Christmas

I've not had a chance to read through History of Christianity yet, and I see the FAC has been closed. I'll read through it in the new year, I can still give feedback from an amatuer perspective if it would be helpful. Hope you enjoy the holidays. -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested «@» °∆t° 00:28, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

Hello! I am so glad to hear from you! I had to pull the nomination because all it was getting was negative feedback. My inexperience with the FAC requirements ... An editor more familiar with those is working on it now. He's amazing. I am surprised the process is making it less detailed, so less precise and more general, which for my academic mind is completely backwards - but a narrative is apparently necessary. A narrative with simple words. I am just watching from the cheap seats right now, but you know I always appreciate your input. You are pretty amazing yourself. Hope you and yours are well and having a happy holiday season. Two days till presents!! :-) Merry Christmas! Jenhawk777 (talk) 04:06, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

New leadimage at Jesus?

Talk:Jesus#RFC:_Changing_picture_in_infobox if you feel like having an opinion. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:59, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

Not really, and hey, I apologize for the revert. I was given wrong info. I think I've fixed it now. Again. Without you that might not have been found. Thank you. Jenhawk777 (talk) 21:53, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
The hyphen-thing? I just noticed that per article-text, they were rare (when I noticed it). Quite possibly, they are one of those MOS-things that can be either way (but should be consistent within an article) and some people feel strongly about. I considered "4th century" style, but that didn't seem to be in use. No biggie. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:55, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

December music

story · music · places

On the Main page today Jean Sibelius on his birthday. Listening to Beethoven's Fifth from the opening of Notre-Dame de Paris. We sang in choirs today. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:37, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

We had beautiful music today as well including Handel's Messiah. Amazing. Love and happy holidays to you and yours. Jenhawk777 (talk) 04:24, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
Sounds great! - Listen today to the (new) Perplexities after Escher. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:56, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
I was glad for the reopening of Notre Dame. I was there in the 60s and was very distressed at its damage. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:58, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
So am I, - one of its organists played a (scheduled) festival concert shortly after the fire, and invited donations. - Listen today to Beethoven's 3rd cello sonata, on his birthday - it was a hook in the 2020 DYK set when his 250th birthday was remembered. I picked a recording with Antônio Meneses, because he was on my sad list this year, and I was in Brazil (see places), and I love his playing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:42, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
We are gleichgesinnt, (is that the right word?) aren't we? Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:27, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
Yes, good word for same attitudes, views, beliefs. For taste, it's rather "wir haben den gleichen Geschmack" or "wir mögen dieselben Dinge". - I came to fix the cellist's name, with a 10-years-old DYK and new pics - look for red birds! - Good luck with the FAC! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:32, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
It is unlikely it will pass. Its length and the inadequacy of some topics that simply can't be fully covered because of length are already raising exclusively negative comments. How is it possible to cover 2000 years of history - that they demanded last time must include the entire world - and its impact on politics, economics, art, and culture without it being long? Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:54, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
It has to be long. - See, I don't make Bach's chorale cantata cycle a GA, but individual cantatas, - some even became FA. I think I said this before ;) - Today is a woman poet's centenary. And then I'll look into a recent death, and then work on the Advent cantata which I should have tackled in November ... (but there was travel, celebration and death). Last few pics from trip uploaded. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:19, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
Yes everyone tells me to take a smaller article to FA, but it isn't the FA I care about so much as the article itself. But I think I am giving up. There is just no way to satisfy everyone. Cé la vie! Jenhawk777 (talk) 22:39, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
I don't know if you are interested in anything besides the history of Christianity right now, but just for later: today's story is about the Hauptfriedhof Mainz where I had to go and sing, and brought flowers. - I think I never told you not to make the history a FA, but to make something smaller your first FA, as a preparation, to better understand how it works, to be known and respected in that (a bit difficult) elite community. I hope you can see the difference ;) - I tried to put the history of Christianity in one DYK hook, for Christum wir sollen loben schon, BWV 121, on the second day of Christmas, and have to be happy that it was accepted at all although late - imagine: someone sacrificed a hook in the full set to later to make room. However, of the 1500 years my hook covered, only 500 are in prep. I hope that readers will find out in the article. - Finally: crying a bit is ok! I will be back for Christmas. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:20, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
Bless you Gerda. Merry Christmas. Jenhawk777 (talk) 16:34, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
Thank you! We rehearsed for tomorrow. - Today it's another great woman, soprano Sigrid Kehl, and I found a 1963 Christmas Oratorio detail. 10 years earlier than that cycle, Bach wrote seven cantatas for the 1724 season, based on seven songs, - my focus this year. Expect three stories for the three days they celebrated in Leipzig ;) - Enjoy the season! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:43, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for your note! #1 Christmas story: about Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ, BWV 91, 300 years today, and its song, 500 years old. Enjoy the season! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:12, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

Similarly, my second Christmas story is about Christum wir sollen loben schon, BWV 121, 300 years today, and its song, 500 years old. An aria is inspired by a baby leaping in his mother's womb. Enjoy! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:36, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

Such a different perspective! Everything in America must be new! We have no reverence! Jenhawk777 (talk) 23:02, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
My third Christmas story is different, - mo modern base so to speak, the individaul believer's joy. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:04, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Love it! Jenhawk777 (talk) 03:43, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

Your work on "History of Christianity"

Hi Jenhawk777, as you know, I've been reading "History of Christianity". I see that you've contributed almost three-quarters of the content, and I wanted to congratulate you for your fine work on the article—most impressive. The "Who Wrote That?". tool shows which parts you wrote. A huge task, and I think you're doing a splendid job. Carlstak (talk) 03:40, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

OMG! Thank you. I haven't received many compliments, since most comments have come from reviews looking for ways to improve it, so I am doubly grateful. Hardly anyone realizes what a huge task this has been - maybe ~~ AirshipJungleman29 who is helping to make it more concise is beginning to feel the weight of it a little. It's a humongous topic, and I am not an expert in all these ages, so it has taken two years for me to do the reading and research needed. I am committed to getting this article where it needs to be, and as the wonderful and amazing AirshipJungleman29 will tell you, I have a tendancy to be verbose and include minute detail, so when this is done, he will be as deserving of praise as anyone. And thank you for your input. I am grateful to everyone who has shown up to help on this article. It really needs to be one of WP's best. Jenhawk777 (talk) 04:03, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

I just thought you should know. I actually watched part of the Pope's midnight mass on Christmas eve, and part of it was him opening an impressive door to mark the beginning of a year of jubilee. Popes do these things. And today, I stumbled on 2025_Jubilee#Conspiracy_theories. The internet, you gotta [somehing] it. Happy new year 2025, opened with trumpet fanfares that first sounded OTD in 1725 (as the Main page has). -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:14, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Happy New Year Gerda! Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:47, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
Thank you! - Liebster Immanuel, Herzog der Frommen, BWV 123, my story today 300 years after the first performance, is up for GAN. Dada Masilo will be my story tomorrow. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:22, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Congrats! Jenhawk777 (talk) 22:07, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
To what? Bringing a rather plain cantata article to GAN in a day? (which I should have done before Main page appearance, but real life was in the way.) - Then taken ;) - Listen if you can, - it's unusual. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:21, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Yes to both - absolutely! Jenhawk777 (talk) 22:35, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Thank you! My story today is about a composer who influenced music history also by writing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:01, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Today a violinist from Turkey, Ayla Erduran, whom you can watch playing Schubert chamber music --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:45, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
... and today, pictured on the Main page, Tosca, in memory of her first appearance on stage OTD in 1900, and of principal author Brian Boulton. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:39, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
You write on fun stuff. I need to think of something like that. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:40, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
I do, but Tosca was Brian's ;) - For fun: today, between many who just died, Tobias Kratzer on his 45th birthday who was good for an unusual DYK mentioning a Verdi opera in 2018, - you can see his work in the trailer of another one that I saw, and my talk page has a third (but by a different director). I had not not heard of a director entering a competition under two personalities, one a woman ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:24, 17 January 2025 (UTC)

I have more vacation pics to offer, and today's story of Werner Bardenhewer. I took the pic, and it was my DYK on his 90th birthday, in both English and German. He spent the day in Africa, and after his return said - chatting after a mass of thanks he celebrated at Mariä Heimsuchung - that we'd have to talk about these articles. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:42, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

Semi-random suggestion

Something I of thought after seeing History of Christianity fail FAC in December for size issues. Have you considered bringing some of the subpages up to GA/FA first? It might help you get a handle on summarizing them for the main article. I.e. Christianity in the 1st century and Christianity in the ante-Nicene period are certainly major subsections; while a History of Christianity in [country] article might help you garner a more global view, and History of the Catholic Church (or another denomination) would help understand what events are more or less important.

Whatever you decide, though, I am impressed by your dedication to History of Christianity and how much effort you've put into improving it to the highest standards. So next time it goes to FAC, ping me and I'll try and review it. Happy editing, SilverTiger12 (talk) 19:04, 1 February 2025 (UTC)

History of Christianity

I noticed some rather disparaging comments directed towards you on Talk:History of Christianity. That someone has taken such a sincere and learned approach to improving such a monumental article on a challenging subject deserves nothing but commendation. While I can't say when or if it'll ever be an FA class, that almost doesn't matter. The article—one read by many thousands annually—is in a much better place than before your contributions. ~ Pbritti (talk) 05:24, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

Hear hear. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:48, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Pbritti and Gråbergs Gråa Sång thank you. I needed that. I am familiar with Borsoka's approach. If there are any mistakes by others, they must run away and hide their heads in shame, whereas when he makes a mistake, it isn't even worth acknowledging as such. It isn't an approach I respect, so I am not particularly effected by it. That doesn't lessen my gratitude toward both of you for this. Thank you again. Hello I’m starting to write my own page. --Crvallejos (talk) 19:30, 14 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello back! What topic are you writing on? Yourself? Are you famous enough to have multiple secondary sources about you that you can reference? You are a primary source on yourself and therefore can't be used, you know that right? Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:35, 14 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from AzureMenace (18:52, 19 February 2025)

Hi, I am trying to make a page on the JR East HB-E220 train, however the image available are on the JR East website meaning that I can't upload it to wikimedia, should I contact JR east for permission to use the image? Thank you! --AzureMenace (talk) 18:52, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

Yes, you must have permission or it's a copyright violation. They can publish it with a license for its public use. Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:55, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
I see thanks for answering AzureMenace (talk) 19:01, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Happy to be of absolutely no help whatsoever... take a look at this and see if it actually does help any. There are no doubt others on Wikimedia who know more than I do on this. The Teahouse is also a possible source of info on how to go about doing this. Good luck! Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:06, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

"West over East"

Moved to usertalk:jenhawk777

Jenhawk777, I apologize for having gone off on a tangent, but I'm a Southerner, and that's what we do.;-) To return to the question of "West over East", I should say that when I hear that phrase, I personally think in terms of Asia rather than the Eastern Church, in whatever iteration. I do believe that Christianity in the modern developing world gets short shrift in the article, but that may be an unavoidable consequence of the constraints of covering life, the universe, and everything in 10,000 words. Sorry, Africa, Asia, South America, and Polynesia.;-)

I just want to throw this out there before I get drunk (kidding, sort of): To figure out what proportion of the article should be devoted to the "East", it might be useful to make an outline (if you haven't already) in your notes, to organize your thoughts. An outline complete with sections, like those listed in the article contents at the top of the page. Maybe put a little abstract of possible content in the individual sections, and publish it in a sandbox so everyone can see it and make suggestions or edit it. What do you think? Carlstak (talk) 01:23, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

Have you completely lost your mind? No way is that ever going to happen. Everyone can already edit the article itself. Present good sources, Be Bold, and do your own work. That's sufficient. :-( Jenhawk777 (talk) 05:27, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Whatever you say, Jenhawk777. (Shock. Dismay.;-)
You asked, "My question goes back to: should our content reflect that or not; if yes, how much?" Then you said, "I think we are going to have to decide for ourselves how much and what to include. I'm just going to start. Feel free to jump in."
Who is "ourselves"? If the goal is shooting for FA at some point, I was thinking you would want to shepherd the process—otherwise progress is made only in fits and starts and there will be endless regressions. Not to mention diversions by the occasional drive-by troublemakers. All that would probably happen anyway even with shepherding, but with anarchy it would seem to be much worse.
This drive has been going on for almost a year and no end in sight, and you're inviting editors to run amuck? You've made 8324 edits to the article. Is this your career?
You started off on the talk page with this comment: "First off let me say this is a phenomenal article. Cudos to everyone who has contributed. IMO it just needs a little updating here and there." Pardon me, but in light of what you've done since, I find that quite humorous. And you're asking me if I'm crazy? If I'd done that much work on an article and it was still unfinished the guys in white coats would have to wrap me in a straight jacket. (They're actually not that uncomfortable.;-) Carlstak (talk) 06:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
LOL! YES! It has turned into a second career! I had no idea when I started this how much other editors thought it needed - and I would not have known if I hadn't made it a FAC. It hasn't been a year. It's been over two years. WP works on consensus, so it is absolutely necessary that others contribute and are eventually reasonably satisfied with the result. Carlstak this discussion is more personal than content related, so I think it should be moved to my Talk page, is that okay with you? Jenhawk777 (talk) 17:47, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
I'm done. Carlstak (talk) 18:42, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Okay, but it's here now, and can be pursued at will. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:08, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from ThatOneMathGuy (14:01, 13 March 2025)

Hi! I'm new to this, and I do not really know much, but I have a doubt regarding the article "Simon problems." When i search for sources I keep getting different information each time, like one says he posed them in 1982 and others in 1984, and all of them seem reliable. What must I believe? Should I edit the dates, as the time of solving the problems is also very different from the article? --ThatOneMathGuy (talk) 14:01, 13 March 2025 (UTC)

No no no, you can't edit sources. Conflicts between what different sources say can be presented in an article as just that - that there is no agreement on a date or some such thing, but information has to reflect what they sy and not yoour opinion of it. That's called original work and that isn't allowed on WP. What sources are you referring to specifically? I will take a look at them and see if I can figure out the problem. Question from LegalMakeupTruth (17:36, 14 March 2025)

Hello, I want to state clearly that I work for tarte cosmetics. I want to provide additional to the tarte Wikpedia page. The Tarte Wikpedia page was initially set up by a 21 year college student as part of an assignment. The Tarte Wikpedia webpage is inaccurate in certain areas, not well developed and is not reflective of a 25 year old billion dollar company. Similarly sized cosmetic companies have much more developed pages (like Rare Beauty or Estee Lauder). Wikpedia is an important source of information and we want to provide accurate information. I am an attorney and I understand the requirements of including objective nonpromotional content and objective respected sources. Can you help me? I want to supplement sections that exist with documented news sources like Business Week or industry articles. --LegalMakeupTruth (talk) 17:36, 14 March 2025 (UTC)

Thanx for trying to get this straight before editing! What you want to do is called "Conflict of Interest" editing and it is strongly discouraged on WP. Neutrality is a primary standard and goal of all WP editing, and COI makes that almost impossible - humanly speaking.
First, read this page: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Some important points: Editors with a COI, including paid editors, are expected to disclose it ...COI editors are strongly discouraged from editing affected articles directly, and can propose changes on article talk pages instead. This is the best approach, especially if you propose significant or potentially controversial changes. You can use the double curly brackets front and back around around the phrase edit COI placed at the bottom of the article's talk page. State your suggestion underneath, and be sure to sign it with four tildes. If the proposal is verifiable and appropriate, it will usually be accepted.
If you choose to edit directly, you have three choices on how to disclose your COI: put the template with double curly brackets front and back around the phrase connected contributor at the top of the article's page, fill in the data, and then publish. Or make a statement that you are a COI contributor in the edit summary of any and every edit you make. Or you can use the double curly brackets front and back around the phrase UserboxCOI as a template on your user page with the relevant data filled in there.
If you don't follow these, eventually someone will notice and revert (remove) all your work, and you will have wasted all your time and effort. Always disclose. Thank you for your interest and support of WP. It's a great place. I hope you enjoy your stay. Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:59, 14 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from JustOryn (19:40, 8 April 2025)

I just made Wikipedia due to reading up on a tornado that hit my city, but the information was somewhat inaccurate.

Wikipedia says that you're an experienced editor, and that if I edit, I should consult you. Is there any formatting I need? Would I need to provide proofs of my edited claim? Is there anything I should need to know before editing? --JustOryn (talk) 19:40, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello! JustOryn I have now posted a welcome to your talk page. You will note that doing so has turned your page name blue. It has some links on it that I recommend you read. Wikipedia has some pretty strict requirements. They are similar but somewhat different from writing research papers and other scholarly writings you might be accustomed to, so no matter how experienced you are, it pays to read these links. There is a lot to learn here, and it can seem a bit overwhelming at first, but if you persevere, I can promise it will be worth it. Wikipedia is a wonderful place - with an occasional bad egg - but it is possible to deal with those as well, and the majority of people here "assume good faith" in others and treat people accordingly. We are glad you are here - honestly - we need and want new editors with a commitment to making a quality encyclopedia. I hope you are one.
Everything you write must be referenced to a quality secondary source. You must not write original work, personal opinions, or biased views. It will get reverted - deleted by other editors. If you have a source that contradicts what is written here already, you may add that and note that there is disagreement, but unless you have a source that says one is wrong, you can't say so. You don't get to pick which one you think is right. We try to write the majority view but also include dissenting views because WP tries to be neutral. It tries not to have a point of view but presents in a representative manner the points of view of those in the sources. That includes all of them and not just the one you agree with. Sourcing is our god. All disputes over content rise and fall on quality sourcing. Good luck, and if you have any future questions, feel free to ask. Jenhawk777 (talk) 21:34, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

How Trump’s Stock Market Chaos Is Dividing Wikipedia

Interesting article. Stephen Harrison is something of a WP "beat reporter" and has a pretty good WP-understanding. He told me once (he has a WP-account) "I've always said at speaking events that I do not especially want a personal Wikipedia page. I have a somewhat unique perspective in that people email me every 2-3 weeks complaining about their Wikipedia articles and I can tell it's causing them a lot of grief." A few days later he said (paraphrased) "Btw, here's a source you can use for that draft about me." Like Oscar Wilde said, "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about." State your suggestion underneath, and be sure to sign it with four tildes.
Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:32, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

Started a new article, very unusual thing happened

Stations of the Cross at the Cloisters on the Platte by Lundeen Sculpture. Pretty impressive, I think it's 4-5 meters high. It's station 13, but I bet you already knew that.

The name George Lundeen popped up at the Teahouse, and I got interested. I finished it, and after sometime, a new arrival popped up at the talkpage saying hello, I work for him, thanks for working on this article! Thinking one can always ask, I say how about giving us some pictures, here's how you can do that? My jaw drops when 2 hours later she replies SURE!!

So I put them on Commons (some were there already, and some of those are being purged per rulez) and have been spreading them on WP quite a bit, learning about Casey at the Bat and Stations of the Cross in the process. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:03, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Edited by 234 (06:52, 29 April 2025)

Hello, can I add recent photos that needs to be updated --Edited by 234 (talk) 06:52, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

@Edited by 234 Depends on what you mean. The basic assumption is that any random picture you find online is under copyright and can't be used on Wikipedia. If, say, you think the Jennifer Aniston article should have a newer leadimage, you can't just pick one you like from her instagram or wherever.
So, can you give an example of what you want to do? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:10, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

Thank you! - Check out my talk: for a great woman's Johannes-Passion (listen!), our music in detail, and three people who recently died and are on the main page (where she isn't). My call for collaboration has the first "no", and the second - for the Easter Oratorio - seems inevitable. - I'll look reviews after Easter, yours is third in the queue. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:32, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from Engraverman (15:37, 30 April 2025)

Hello Jenhawk777, I have created a User Account so that I could start a Wikipedia page about myself. I want to write an introductory article about myself and then carry on with my work history, my publishing history and articles about some of my projects. Have I started this project in the correct way? --Engraverman (talk) 15:37, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Only if there is sufficient secondary material published about you to use as a references. You cannot use yourself as a source. You are a primary source, and WP does not reference primary sources. That would require our interpretation, and that's against WP:OR. Jenhawk777 (talk) 15:42, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Question from EditWharton (02:35, 30 April 2025)

Thank you for being my mentor! I definitely will be in touch with questions. --EditWharton (talk) 02:36, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello! I have sent a welcome to your talk page and hope you will check out those links. There's a lot to learn when you first start on Wikipedia. Jenhawk777 (talk) 15:43, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Sorry about your FA.

It seems this topic chokes our system somehow, and I don't know what to do about it. If there were three you against the inquisitors, you might have a chance. Or if the FA focused on one section at a time until that was done, and then moved on. Hope you're ok. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:36, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

I hope it is OK to put my two pennies in here.
I've watched all of the work you have put into the article and you have done a fantastic job. Never forget that your work has improved the article tremendously. Well done you. Knitsey (talk) 19:39, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
The Christianity Barnstar
For your tireless efforts improving the History of Christianity article Seltaeb Eht (talk) 19:55, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

Thank you all so much. Your kindness brought tears to my eyes. I can be tough when people are mean and as soon as someone is kind I lose it! Don't stop being kind though! This topic does choke this particular system which is statistically populated with people with strong feelings against Christianity. UC is the only person in all the reviews this article has had over the last two years who has ever accused me of being biased toward Christianity. UC never checked the sources I cited. They never responded to me checking theirs. But none of that mattered. Once you get an oppose, if you argue you're in the wrong for arguing, and if you don't argue and just accept it, you are still screwed. The oppose - not its reasons or its validity - are all that matters. It is hard to think that this method of selection doesn't need revising, but I don't know into what or how. I am finally giving up on this one. It will never get through FA no matter what I do simply because there are so many details, there is no end of sources for disagreement. It's impossible to please everyone. I accept that now. I also thank you for your kindnesses. It helps. Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:17, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Abhisennin (08:17, 3 May 2025)

Hello, I'm looking to request an article for a senior civil servant in Indian law enforcement. All of the material has been collated however there is a conflict of interest. Could you guide me on the approach to submission and way forward.

This would be a article for an accomplished senior Indian Police Services Officer with multiple awards, a tedx speaker who has held key responsibilities in the state. --Abhisennin (talk) 08:17, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

You can write a biography of a live person Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons but you need to have secondary sources to do so. News articles qualify, but it must be a published source that is not you. You may not use yourself or them as a source. You are both primary sources, and that would require what is called WP:OR original research, and that is not allowed on Wikipedia.
Read this page: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and disclose what your relationship with this person is and if there is any conflict of interest. Some important points: Editors with a COI, including paid editors, are expected to disclose it ...COI editors are strongly discouraged from editing affected articles directly, and can propose changes on article talk pages instead.
If you don't follow these, eventually someone will notice and revert (remove) all your work, and you will have wasted all your time and effort. Jenhawk777 (talk) 17:45, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Scott Slowik on Ruth Buzzi (18:19, 4 May 2025)

Hello. Ruth Buzzi recently passed and I’d like to edit her filmography (TV show section) to include the fact she was panelist on Hollywood Squares in 1968 (4 times but that is irrelevant). I could not figure out how to insert that information between her other television appearances.. mainly “That Girl” and “The Carol Burnett Show”. Thank you if you can help. --Scott Slowik (talk) 18:19, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello Scott Slowik and welcome to Wikipedia. I am posting a welcome with some links on your talk page. Please do a quick read of those links. There is a lot to learn here, so taking the time to do that is important to your success and enjoyment - and the acceptance of your work. You can start here: Help:Editing. You must have secondary sources - printed sources - that are not you. You are a primary source and therefore are not a valid WP reference. You would have to interpret what you say yourself and its accuracy cannot be verified by a reader who doesn't know you. That's anathema here. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:17, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from RabbiEMF (02:08, 6 May 2025)

Hi, how do I correct an error in this article on the Calvary statue on the Charles Bridge in Prague. It mentions a plaque placed near the statue at the request of group of North American rabbis. I was one of those rabbis present along with a representative from the Cardinal and the mayor of Prague and the year was not, as stated, 2009. It was in 2000. --RabbiEMF (talk) 02:09, 6 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I have posted a welcome with a few links in it that should be read before attempting editing here. In answer to your question, you must have secondary sources. You cannot use yourself as a source - unless someone interviewed you and printed it in a newspaper or magazine or some such thing, you are not a viable WP source. You are a primary source, and primary sources cannot be used because you would have to interpret them yourself WP:OR and they would not be verifiable WP:verifiablity for the reader. Question from PsaiKi S (10:54, 8 May 2025)

Hello, I found out that the name of my favorite singer on Wiki page is wrong, so I registered on Wiki and changed his name. Then a few days later, another user cancelled my change saying that it was because the Wikipedia guideline said the name of Hong Kong person should be a hyphenated style. As a Hong Konger, based on Hong Kong ID Card and Passport, the names on Hong Kong legal documents are not hyphenated. The actual case is Eason Chan. His current name showed on wiki page is Eason Chan Yick-shun, but according to Hong Kong legal documents such as passport and ID cards, it should be Eason Chan Yick Shun. And the user who cancelled my edit told me to follow this page "WP:ZHNAME". Am i get any mistake in my editing? --PsaiKi S (talk) 10:54, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

You have to cite the secondary source you used to make that change or another editor will revert you every time. I have now posted a welcome to your talk page with links that will answer your questions here. Referencing is a requirement. Use good quality secondary sources. If you do that and still get reverted, post on the talk page and ask them to provide references and see if you can work it out. Jenhawk777 (talk) 17:16, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Bushigongzuomayi on Richard Stöhr (16:55, 19 May 2025)

Hello Jenhawk! I think I like it! I found some corrections I would like to make at the German translation. Do I just correct and if I am mistaken the crowd will re- correct? I am out of Business since a decade and try to uphold my skills but sometimes I must look up the dictionary as I start to mix the writing of the different languages in writing. Or I am sure of something wrong. 😀 --Bushigongzuomayi (talk) 16:55, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello back at ya' Bushigongzuomayi!! You must - must - have a good quality secondary source that verifies anything you add to Wikipedia. Otherwise the "crowd" will revert - that's delete - what you've added. Dictionaries can be a source for translation. Good luck and happy editing! Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:31, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

AI and WP

Based on my participation in threads like

my default assumption is that AI generally sucks for the Wikipedians. At least Thi said "I'm dumping some AI stuff on you." Now, if an editor wants to go through such a list themselves and consider editing based on some of it, we can't stop them, there might be some corn to find in there. But dumping it on a talkpage, implying "someone should spend their time on this" is, well, sub-optimal. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:44, 15 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from Malagnumcloumusic (20:14, 10 June 2025)

Hi there — I’d appreciate a second opinion on Draft:Freddie Nelson, which was just declined for the third time with a generic comment that it "lacks significant coverage in reliable, secondary sources."

Since the last decline, I’ve done a full cleanup and added multiple reliable, third-party references that show non-trivial coverage, including:

PopMatters (interview + feature) TribLIVE (Pittsburgh press feature) AllMusic (for credits) WQED (PBS affiliate coverage) Plus additional articles and reviews from others with inline ciatations throughout.

I believe the article meets WP:MUSICBIO and general notability guidelines. The decline came again less than 24 hours after resubmission, without any comment about the updated sourcing. Could you take a fresh look or offer feedback on how else this might be improved?

Thank you so much! --Malagnumcloumusic (talk) 20:14, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

Theroadislong (talk) 3:12 pm, 10 June 2025, last Tuesday (6 days ago) (UTC−5) Comment: This draft definitely has some potential, as he is featured in a lot of review articles. However, it is impossible to write an biography with just reviews alone. Much of the draft is unreferenced. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and BlabberMouth citations look promising, but sadly I cannot access them. Are they accessible to you? Ca. Comment: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and BlabberMouth citations seem to be dead links and are not archived in the Wayback machine.
Quality sourcing is part of what's definitive about Wikipedia. Everything has to be sourced so that any reader can find and verify what's been said. These are comments by different editors, so you already have a second and it looks like a third opinion, and they all found the same issues with your sourcing. To get this article published, just do what they say needs doing. If you can't, it can't be published. Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:55, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
Significant changes had been since those comments that you pasted above - nearly all of the original sources were removed and replaced. Did you have a chance to look at the article? I did re-submit after that but it was almost immediately declined by the same commenter, with a generic reply, so I know it wasn't looked at. Thats why I was asking for your opinion. Thanks in advance. Malagnumcloumusic (talk) 01:53, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Malagnumcloumusic I not only looked at your article, I checked your sources. Source #1 doesn't say what you say it does. It doesn't even mention BiPolar, and it doesn't say that the unmentioned album caught the attention of Paul Gilbert and led to their first collaboration. There is only one mention of Paul Gilbert in that article, and that is about the album United States. Source #2, Blabbermouth.net says the album was a "collaborative effort" but it doesn't say in what way that collaboration worked. It doesn't say Nelson co-wrote, performed, and co-produced the album. Source #5 does say that, so at best, that's a misattribution. Reference #3 is just an ad and shouldn't be used. Source #4 is a good source that says what you say it does. Source #5 is a good source.
Do I need to continue? This is a mixed bag that still needs work. Jenhawk777 (talk) 03:15, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Thank you - this is the kind of feedback I was looking for. As far as proving the specifics of the collaboration - do you know if ASCAP would count as a reliable source? It states clearly that they are each 50% writers of the material on that album. I wasn't sure since I haven't seen it used much elsewhere. Otherwise, I will clean up the rest and resubmit. Thanks again! Malagnumcloumusic (talk) 03:37, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
I think the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers would be a perfectly good source as they are a non-profit. Good luck and happy editing! Jenhawk777 (talk) 03:42, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Thank you Gråbergs Gråa Sång I don't know how I would manage here without you, honestly. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:53, 19 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from Marccmihai (20:18, 30 June 2025)

Hi I just made my account because I wanted to write a page about my Great Grandpa who was important to the Romanian WW2 effort. Could you pull my page to Wikipedia or alternatively look over it and lmk if it needs any crucial changes ... thanks!! --Marccmihai (talk) 20:18, 30 June 2025 (UTC)

Are there books written about your Great Grandpa? You know you can't use him as a source right? Wikipedia policy is No original research. Without adequate secondary sourcing it will get deleted. Jenhawk777 (talk) 03:29, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

Hello, Mentor! I just joined Wikipedia and am looking forward to contributing. Do you have any tips or helpful advice that you wish would have known when you first started editing pages? Thank you!

Question from AnarchoRepublican (00:25, 13 July 2025)

Hello Mentor, I've run into a potential, howbeit, common problem, perhaps you can give me some advice. I've recently tangled with another editor, on an Article Samaritans, they wiped out an entire section of material, I posted regarding an odd, allegedly anachronistic, reference to "the Samaritan", in the Quran. I reverted this edit, several times, and we have gone back and forth regarding...the matter, it is still unresolved... ...However, much more troubling than that, I also, just noticed that on the very same day (July 10), this Editor, also targeted my other edits on an entirely unrelated article Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle. Wiping out that text, as well. The reason given was "Speculation". It obviously was not that. Due to the timing, I can't make myself believe, that is a mere coincidence, nor that this Editor, has any particular interest in the subject ...This seems to be clearly personal, vindictive, targeted, and frankly vandalism..It seems, they are to be trying to draw me into a personal edit War. ...I've already reverted the damage they have done to the Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle article, and requested support from the article's community on it's Talk page..If this Editor, is intent on continuing, with such behavior, what advice can you give me, moving forward? Thanks, --AnarchoRepublican (talk) 00:25, 13 July 2025 (UTC)

I went to the article and looked at all the recent edits and I can tell you exactly why yours were reverted: your edits are sourced to primary sources WP:Primary sources, contain original material WP:OR, and are not sufficiently sourced to high quality secondary sources WP:Sources. It is possible the other editor has now decided to go check all your work to see if all of it has these same problems. It is also possible they just got ticked off and are now harassing you. If so, you can always take them to arbitration. That being said, I doubt that would go well for you. The moderator will do what I just did and look at the edits. They will conclude your edits are the problem, and you are the one who wouldn't listen. The best way to deal with this is to learn WP: Policies and practices WP:MOS. Let the other editor know you are still pretty new - the first year or two is new here - and still learning, and all of us have been there, so they will likely understand and there will be no hard feelings. However you decide to approach it, do what they told you about sourcing. If you don't, another editor will come along and do the same thing - revert all your work. And if someone else doesn't, I will. Jenhawk777 (talk) 21:22, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
AnarchoRepublican I found no such request on the talk page of Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle. That would be a good step. You can also ask for a request for comment WP:RFC or a WP:Third opinion. Jenhawk777 (talk) 22:52, 14 July 2025 (UTC)
Nevermind. I see now that you have been blocked. The block was deserved I'm afraid. As Bishonen explained, it's a short block because you're new and don't really know better, yet, but you are still required to demonstrate you are making the effort to learn. Read the rules and requirements; try to comply; or this experience will become your normal experience till -- like so many others before you including me -- get frustrated enough to quit. Jenhawk777 (talk) 23:02, 14 July 2025 (UTC)

AI-thoughts

A German newspaper had an AI/human team check articles on German WP, and found that there are many WP-articles that contain errors and have outdated information, and the number of editors are not that many. Apparently this didn't use to be the case, unclear when it changed.[sarcasm]

Anyway, this was interesting:

"Can artificial intelligence replace the online encyclopedia? Not at the moment. The FAS study also shows this: When Wikipedia and artificial intelligence disagreed, the AI wasn't more often right than Wikipedia. Sometimes, the AI even correctly criticized a sentence, but also provided false facts itself. That's why human review was so important. At the same time, most AI models are also trained on Wikipedia articles. The AI has therefore very likely overlooked some errors because it learned inaccurate information from Wikipedia." Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:50, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

Interesting. I know it's true there are many articles that need updating -- therefore they contain current mistakes that probably weren't mistakes when they were first written. I did know that AI used WP, thereby creating that circle of errors problem that we avoid by never referencing ourselves. AI needs to have our standards of referencing before it can ever be seen as dependable. Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:30, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
On a positive note, the paper made the research available, German Wikipedians put it in an on-WP table, and started going through it, correcting stuff, covered here.
In other news, someone nominated an article I started for GA. First time! We'll see what happens. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:56, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
Congrats! Will you participate? Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:52, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
I meddled a bit. May meddle more. From :
"I asked Claude, one of the newer AI systems, whether it was condemning Wikipedia to obscurity. It replied that it didn’t believe AI would completely “take over” Wikipedia, especially given the “strong governance structures” that values human involvement. Users would continue to use Claude for short answers and Wikipedia for more detailed and intricately sourced information.
“Let’s hope so, Claude,” I typed.
“I share that hope,” my generative knowledge assistant replied. “Wikipedia is genuinely one of the most remarkable achievements of the internet age – a massive, collaborative effort to make human knowledge freely accessible to everyone. It would be a real loss if that were to disappear.”"
That's a bit spooky, I think. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:24, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
Spooky indeed. Its view of Wikipedia is absolutely right though... Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:33, 12 July 2025 (UTC)

Got the GA, that went well. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:32, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
Awesome! Congratulations! Kind of gratifying, huh? Jenhawk777 (talk) 21:23, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
Certainly gratifying in that the reviewer didn't have very much to complain about, showing that it was pretty good as written. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:15, 14 July 2025 (UTC)
In other news, here are three new-ish WP-articles you may not have seen:

These were fascinating -- the philosophy phenomenon was particularly funny! They wrote a paper on it - that's a hoot! I'd like to find the sources list! I noted that while ideological bias speaks of politics, no one mentions religion where there is also often a lot of bias. If we are still flying under the radar that's okay by me. We editors can better work out balance and neutrality on our own without the hoorah. Jenhawk777 (talk) 23:11, 14 July 2025 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for mentoring me in starting to edit Wikipedia. Recently I've edited some articles that are assessed as Start-class, which I believe may be due for a reassessment. How would I view how recently they've been assessed and how would I go about requesting a reassessment? --AspiringGnome (talk) 20:20, 17 July 2025 (UTC)

Read this: Wikipedia:Content assessment; scroll down to Assessing articles and follow the instructions. But it's my experience that if you do enough work to genuinely change the quality of an article, someone will notice and just show up and do that for you! Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:30, 17 July 2025 (UTC)

Women in Green's 9th Edit-a-thon

Hello Jenhawk777:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Editathon event in October 2025!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2025, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) editathon event with the theme What Women Do! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 different occupations or professions (or broader roles in society) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!

Question from Jamais Vu-WilhelmPaulaAnton (12:45, 19 September 2025)

Hey, I won't lie I did create this account to discuss (quietly complain about the difficulty of) specific nuances in documenting the statements of someone very popular recently, but I noticed that there's little things I can do to improve articles and I'd actually really like to do that, is there a good consensus on what defines a good link to add to an article? (beyond like, whether it's related to the article it's being added to) --Jamais Vu-WilhelmPaulaAnton (talk) 12:45, 19 September 2025 (UTC)

@Jamais Vu-WilhelmPaulaAnton Welcome! The guideline is Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Basically, think books, articles in magazines and respected news-sites. Not blogs, wikis (including this one) and social media. But this depends very much on context.
Say there is an article about person X, and you want to add that they just moved to Boston. Then you can use their personal confirmed (you know, blue checkmark) Instagram post where they say "I just moved to Boston!"
But if you want to add that person X are a murderer, then you need at least an article in The Times that says person X was convicted of murder in a court.
At WP:RSP, there is a list of sources that have been discussed several times (sometimes many many many times, we are an argumentative people), and if you scroll through that, you can get some sense of what is and isn't expected. You might want to try this video: Become a Wikipedian in 30 minutes, or WP:TUTORIAL.
Hope this helps some! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:41, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
Thanks! This is a great amount of info to start with and having done a chunk of research of my own around things like the murdoch/newscorp acquisitions, I really don't blame people for contesting RSP significantly, it really is ever changing. Jamais Vu-WilhelmPaulaAnton (talk) 14:23, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
@Jamais Vu-WilhelmPaulaAnton The RSP-list itself has had plenty of media coverage, so much in fact, that it now has a WP-article: Perennial sources list. Bizarre, but in WP-verse, quite logical. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:30, 19 September 2025 (UTC)

We're in the news again

Why Right-Wing Outlets Attacked Wikipedia After Charlie Kirk’s Shooting. Your choice of WP-topics doesn't seem to be the kind that enrages the New York Post. So far. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:31, 18 September 2025 (UTC)

Hello! Just checking in for a quick minute. I really appreciate your help in keeping up with posts here, since I am overwhelmed in RL right now. I will be done with this class I'm teaching in 8 more weeks. Perhaps life will return to normal then! It's going well!
The reaction to the shooting has distressed me almost more than the shooting itself. Wikipedia becoming the punching bag for the right-wingers seems par for the course amidst all the craziness. They are not the only lunatics. Lots of leftists all over Facebook etc. have condemned the victim, saying he deserved it, and of course my position is that no one deserves to be murdered! I don't care if you agree or disagree with that person, it's wrong to shoot someone. DUH! But you know I stay out of politics and have a genuine commitment to the concept of neutrality here. I love and respect Wikipedia for that. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:38, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
Glad to hear you're off-WP for that reason! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:45, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
I have put together the curriculum myself and am often still composing on the afternoon I teach! It's been stressful, but it's been great fun. I've had an exceptional turnout, really favorable reviews -- so far -- and I am enjoying myself - but I miss Wikipedia! I'll be back! In the mean-time, thank you again for helping out here. I am deeply grateful. Jenhawk777 (talk) 04:40, 20 September 2025 (UTC)

You would have to upload a picture to Wikimedia first, then use it, but I doubt they will accept a personal photo. It's unwise to post much personal info here. It can be abused -- then you will be. Jenhawk777 (talk) 17:24, 25 September 2025 (UTC)

Interesting article

"Remember, Wikipedia is not a sleek Silicon Valley startup with rows of paid moderators. Wikipedia is held together by a few thousand volunteer editors, a patchwork of semi-reliable bots, and the stubborn conviction of a community that still believes truth is worth defending. ... Wikipedia has built a defense system that reacts faster than most newsrooms: vandalism is reversed in minutes, bots flag obvious abuse, and semi-protection walls off the most targeted pages. The human side is equally formidable: a culture that isn’t polished, isn’t always welcoming, but is absolutely relentless. That relentlessness - combined with the fact that Wikipedia remains one of the few places online where money can’t simply buy influence - is exactly why it now occupies such a privileged position." Question from Cpanosiandunavan (23:28, 5 October 2025)

Dear Jennhawk777,

Thanks in advance for your help, especially since I am totally unfamiliar with how to re-do my Wikipedia page! Having said that, I am very grateful that Jess Wade created my original Wikipedia page (which I only recently discovered) several years ago. Nonetheless, at this point it requires updates and changes.

Would it be okay if I sent you a brand-new, re-written version of roughly the same length that includes much of the current content and structure along with updates, deletions, and correction of errors along with some new online links and references that you could blend with the old references? Or is that asking too much of you?

I'm not in a huge rush --just want to complete the task properly in next few weeks if that seems reasonable.

All best Claire Panosian Dunavan, MD in California --Cpanosiandunavan (talk) 23:28, 5 October 2025 (UTC)

I'm pinging @Jesswade88 if she wishes to respond (that's Jess Wade if anyone didn't know). @Cpanosiandunavan, I'm guessing this is about Claire Panosian. There is a good chance this will not be as quick or easy as you'd like, but on WP, you never know. My advice, worth its weight in diamonds:
Post your proposed updates at Talk:Claire Panosian, that way an interested Wikipedian can see what you're after. If it's a lot, consider picking only what you consider most important, a huge list is less likely to be acted upon. Then, also post a message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women scientists and WP:BLPN that you have done this and would like help with it. Then see what happens. Hopefully someone will edit/communicate with you on Talk:Claire Panosian. More info at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Help. Hope this helps some. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:32, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
And oh yeah: on your userpage, User:Cpanosiandunavan, please write something like "I'm Claire Panosian, and I'd like to update the WP-article about me." It's the rulez. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:30, 6 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from BasedCorporatist on User:BasedCorporatist/sandbox (22:24, 9 October 2025)

Hello jenhawk How do I make a header --BasedCorporatist (talk) 22:24, 9 October 2025 (UTC)

I don't know what you mean by "Header". WP articles have titles, and that is part of what gets accepted when you publish the article. Jenhawk777 (talk) 02:32, 10 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from BasedCorporatist (01:49, 9 October 2025)

Hello would making a semi-joke wikipedia page be allowed the page would be named "list of video games made in 1932" which is meant for laughs (because there were no video games in 1932) but it could be helpful for people because then I could send a link to tennis for 2 which was the first video game made in 1958 --BasedCorporatist (talk) 01:49, 9 October 2025 (UTC)

@BasedCorporatist No, it's not allowed. On this website, that would be considered WP:Disruptive editing or WP:VANDALISM. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:03, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
But i saw a page which was a stop abusing kittens petition and that was allowed why would this not be allowed BasedCorporatist (talk) 18:30, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
BasedCorporatist I suggest sending it to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost our monthly "newsletter". They have a humor column. Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:42, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
how do I do that BasedCorporatist (talk) 20:06, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
Click on the title. Go there and ask them. Jenhawk777 (talk) 02:30, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
Ok, there is a distinction here. Wikipedia:Administrators against kitten abuse is a WP-page, but not an article, this is seen by the title beginning with Wikipedia:. List of video games made in 1932 would be a WP-article, and what I said applies. If you want to make such a page in your user space (User:BasedCorporatist/List of video games made in 1932) or project space (that's the ones that start with Wikipedia:), guess you could, but it's quite possible someone would think such pages should be deleted. Wikipedia:Humor may be of interest to you. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 22:14, 9 October 2025 (UTC)

Hi Jen, hope you are well. Yesterday I published an article about Yves Laumet at the request of his wife who I have as a dear friend. I tried to search for the articles to send her the link so that we can improve it and the search does not show the article. Help please. Many thanks. What's the name of the article? Jenhawk777 (talk) 06:26, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
Hi Jen, I was not very specific when I contacted you earlier. I used the sandbox to draft an article about Yves Laumet at the request of his surviving wife. The article is not yet complete because there are details that his wife will have to provide and also some of his work, especially TV series are not yet mentioned in his filmography. Question: will the article be publish as it is at the moment and then through consecutive edits it will be complete. And if yes, how it can be published. Influviajante (talk) 18:50, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
Use Wikipedia:Article wizard and follow its instructions. The wife cannot be used as a source for a Wikipedia article. She is a primary source, and Wikipedia only allows secondary sources. A secondary source could be a book or an article that has been published on your subject; it could use her as a source, and you can use it, but you cannot use her. The article will not be published. How do you create an article, and can you use bots or ai to add links to it? --Nerdy Cat14 (talk) 23:15, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Nerdy Cat14 do not use AI unless it states its source and you can go to the original source, verify it, and cite it along with page numbers of where you got your info. AI uses Wikipedia, and we are not allowed to reference ourselves -- it has created problems in the past -- it becomes circular: AI references us and we reference AI and if there's a mistake, it becomes an internet phenomenon that becomes almost impossible to correct. We don't want to be a source of misinformation. We want to be dependably accurate.
Also, if anyone disagrees with something you have posted, the quality of your sourcing will be what determines what actually ends up in the article and what doesn't. This is an encyclopedia. The quality of your research determines everything.
For your first article follow this : []. Good luck and happy editing! Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:35, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

But I checked my page just now and realized that my poster was considered copyright violated, can you help me to solve the issue? Thank you! --Lpwebby (talk) 02:12, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

You'll need to send me a link, or I have no way of knowing what page or what poster. Jenhawk777 (talk) 04:44, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
Where can I find the link for the poster that was deleted? I can’t find any inbox message, only the page mentioned that when I re-uploaded the poster. I didn't screenshot that page.
The file name was “his-princess-from-nowhere-poster.jpg.”
or
"_" instead of "-"
"his_princess_from_nowhere_poster.jpg" Lpwebby (talk) 13:28, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
Not sure if it helps, but: Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:02, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
@Lpwebby Assuming this is about User:Lpwebby/sandbox, and that you want to keep your copyright and not apply a free license to it.
WP generally accepts the use of a non-free pic in cases like this (lead-image for a tv-series etc), but only in actual articles, not drafts. So, if your article gets accepted per WP:GNG etc, then you can go to WP:FUW, chose Upload a non-free file > This is a copyrighted, non-free work, but I believe it is Fair Use. > This is the official cover art of a work. Hope this helps some. I recommend you take a look at WP:BACKWARD and WP:COI. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:14, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Touching Base (Finally)

Good evening! I know the nettling delay was inappropriate after our conversation agreeing to connect here, and I offer subsequent apologies. But I am here now, and excited for it, if a little intimidated by the learning curve. I also would like to express that, contrary to our personal conversation, I would like to remain as anonymous as possible in this space, from visage to personal history. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you! Pauper Karl (talk) 21:57, 4 November 2025 (UTC)

YAY!!! Whoohoo!!! No one here will know anything but your user name. If you need help, let me know! Jenhawk777 (talk) 23:14, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
Thank you! Would you prefer all Wikipedia-related correspondence done on here? How do these chats get documented? That is to ask, are these chats counted as additions to this "talk page" and will go on extending this webpage indefinitely, or are they brought to other individual pages of discussion? Pauper Karl (talk) 23:20, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
You may of course chat with me any place any time you please, but you might find that wiki related questions are more conveniently handled here. All discussions on my talk page are added there, but my talk-page is set to automatically archive anything over 30 days old (except my awards which mean too much to me to archive!!) so after awhile they are removed.
It is possible to copy a discussion to another page, but you have to put a "from-to" notice (on both the original page and the page it is moved to) saying that you have done so. That way anyone can find it if needed.
Articles have their own talk-pages, so discussion about an article should be carried out there. If you make an edit and someone removes it -- called a revert -- don't just go and put it back. Go to the talk page and ask why and try to reason with them. Disagreements must be settled by who has the best/most sources, but if you run into someone really stubbornly unreasonable - which does happen here - there are other methods. You can learn those as needed.
Everything on Wikipedia is documented. It is possible for me to access my first edit 7 years ago. I don't know why I would want to, but hey, if I ever decide to, it's there.
I have a few friends that have been really good to me here. They have been here longer and know more than I, and could be really helpful to you as well. They are some of the nicest people I've ever run across, may I introduce you or would you rather not? Don't feel constrained.
I'm glad you're here! Jenhawk777 (talk) 03:50, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
I cannot promise frequency or consistency in my responses for this month, but I would like to be introduced. Pauper Karl (talk) 19:31, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
No promises required. I will just mention you to them. They may or may not respond. They are both among our best and most respected Wikipedian's. Jenhawk777 (talk) 21:20, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
Pauper Karl Gerda, of course, responded immediately. She is German and a Christian and brilliant and an absolutely amazing person in every way. She has so many WP honors and awards, I can't count them all. She has written articles with a million views. Yet she always takes time to help others. She is a wonderful friend. Jenhawk777 (talk) 21:51, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
@Pauper Karl Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia, it's a very special place. I "met" Jenhawk here in 2017 and we haven't stopped talking since then. Here are two of my favorite WP-stories, maybe you'll like them too: You can see some of my WP-doings at User:Gråbergs_Gråa_Sång#Articles_I_started. Someone once joked "Have you ever considered that Wikipedia was built like the modern-day Library of Alexandria on the mere need of geeks to correct each other?" and there's an element of truth in that.
Btw, Jenhawk, Talk:Crusades#Request_for_comment:_scope_of_the_article might be of interest to you. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 05:47, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from JonathanHuyLe13 (04:58, 9 November 2025)

Note: JonathanHuyLe13's mentor Aaron Liu is away.

Hello! I am a beginner editor and I just want to ask how to add a row in an info box school section and how to add information in the row. Thanks! --JonathanHuyLe13 (talk) 04:58, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

The easiest way is to go and copy someone else's and just fill it in with your own info. Feel free to copy any of mine. Jenhawk777 (talk) 04:19, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from Vastmajority20025 (14:56, 10 November 2025)

hello. its really scary to get banned on wikipedia bacause one of my friends got banned and he had like 4000+ edits. would you give me ultimate advice(s) to not get banned or limited on wikipedia? --Vastmajority20025 (talk) 14:56, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

It's hard to get banned on WP and easy to stay without incident. I put up with harassment for a year, then left for another year and a half, before the editor that had been dogging me got in enough trouble, he was finally banned. Your friend has to have gotten several warnings and ignored them. The wheels of Admin grind slowly here - but they do eventually weed out the problems. My advice is, learn the behavioral policies and guidelines Help:Menu/Policies and guidelines and follow them. Treat other people with respect. Do quality work. Nothing else is required. Enjoy editing. Jenhawk777 (talk) 17:37, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

How to be an editor with manners. --NahuelFanboy2004 (talk) 13:02, 12 November 2025 (UTC)

I personally committed to this: User:Andrewa/gentle editor and this Wikipedia:Kindness Campaign, but even if you just make it a point to be personally civil -- even when others aren't -- you can be that kind of editor. No one can ever make you be something you don't choose for yourself. I certainly fully support your efforts. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:21, 17 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from EvrenP (08:31, 12 November 2025)

i wanted to ask, im just making a military thing in sandbox for fun and im trying to add the flag of the first saudi state in the infobox military conflict template but i still cant find out what i need to write so it shows up. thank you --EvrenP (talk) 08:31, 12 November 2025 (UTC)

I'm guessing but it probably has to be uploaded into Wikimedia where they will also require that the public-use copyright be validated and recorded. Wikipedia is deeply paranoid about copyright violations. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:23, 17 November 2025 (UTC)

HAH!! You're right! I don't know why I assumed that! Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:38, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Maybe because the majority of singers are female? At least that makes me sound less biased ... :-) Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:39, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Perhaps ;) - I have three biographies on the main page today (two women), miss a fourth one (a woman), nominated a fifth (another male singer), that means little time for other matters. - My places now include La Scala, - see music, Verdi three times, and twice in my story! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:49, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Yes, wait for a review. Jenhawk777 (talk) 17:00, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
Hello! I've been waiting for a sandbox review for 2 weeks. Did I miss a step to request a review, or is that a normal timeframe? Thanks for the help. MakComms (talk) 20:45, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
There is a terrific backlog -- lots of new articles, too few reviewers. Work on something else while you wait. I will be back from real life the first week of December. If your article hasn't been reviewed by then, I will do it. Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:04, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
Welcome back! My sandbox has still not been reviewed. It would be amazing if you could squeeze it in this week. I've started reviewing articles published by others... a little bit of a learning curve, but fun, too. :-) Thank you! MakComms (talk) 06:11, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
Hi! I had a review of my sandbox article 'SambaNova AI.' All of the changes were implemented, and the article was published. Once it was published, it was marked for immediate deletion. I didn't even get the 7-day timeframe to make my case to keep the article. The article is not promoting any products - it is just an overview of a company. I see a lot of other company articles in Wikipedia that are fine - in fact I used them as templates. I really need help to understand what I'm doing wrong. Thanks. I need to cite a court case and birth certificate to prove paternity. There IS legal proof of Omar being Ben's son. --Goodyprocter (talk) 14:25, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

@Goodyprocter See WP:BLPPRIMARY. Unless you can source it to CNN, a scholarly article or something like that, WP is not the place. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:25, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

This may be a shock to you, but non-Americans are allowed to edit WP. For your appeal, you can try WP:BLPN, I'm assuming this Omar Humes is a living person. WP:DR may also be of help to you. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:59, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

Question from Ptolemy XVI Epiphanes (13:39, 5 January 2026)

What is the most efficient way to deal with referencing a particularly large number of sources. As wikipedia's citation system do not seem to lend themselves towards speed. --Ptolemy XVI Epiphanes (talk) 13:39, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

It doesn't really matter if you think it's efficient or not, you must still follow WP's referencing. Help:Introduction to referencing with Wiki Markup/1 Follow this through all three pages. I always have a large number of sources, since I source every statement and have an inline citation for every one. Always include page numbers. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:12, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

It was pretty funny when I realized it was you he was griping about, yes. As is often the case, the nuances of WP often escapes observers, though I'm not really certain Rindsberg believes his own whatever. The Unherd article is also discussed on Wikipediocracy, if you want to look at that: Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 04:55, 7 January 2026 (UTC)

You're braver than I am, but Wikipedians have survived it before. They don't have a CIVIL policy, afaik. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:23, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
I just discovered this WP-article: American expansionism under Donald Trump. Should we redirect Manifest destiny 2 to it? No Mexicans wanted apparently, gotta have some principles. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:12, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

men are predestined to fall
(as Eve did, when tempted),
but will be redempted."

Question from Babarkj1 (19:42, 12 January 2026)

Hi Jen.

Given recently released data presented to investors in this report (https://ir-cdn.inderes.com/assets/remedy/reports/remedy-release-of-control-resonant-marks-turning-point-in-investment-story.pdf) from Remedy, I'd like to update this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_Resonant

I'd like to update the release date to "end of Q2 2026" (as stated in the linked report).

I would also like to include that Remedy estimates that "Control Resonant will sell approximately 1.8 million copies in 2026 and approximately 2.2 million copies in 2027" totaling $240 million dollars on a distribution budget of 38.6 million dollars.

Per the report, the company anticipates that Annapurna Pictures will earn back $55.8 million from 50% backing for the game's 50 million euro development cost. --Babarkj1 (talk) 19:42, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from Jennifer.Sargent1 (06:19, 13 January 2026)

Hello Jenhawk777, I would like to create a new Wikipedia page. I tried clicking on a red link at the top of my home page, but it took me to an area that seemed still focused on editing. Can you please tell me how to initiate a new page? Thanks very much, Jennifer.Sargent1 --Jennifer.Sargent1 (talk) 06:19, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

@Jennifer.Sargent1 Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I assume you want to create a Wikipedia article, like Lemon water.
You can start here: WP:Article wizard or here: Help:Userspace draft or here: WP:AFC. Take your time, and when you think it's ready, you can submit it for review.
Writing an acceptable WP-article as the first thing you do can be hard, or even impossible if your chosen subject fails WP:N. Some guidance at WP:BACKWARDS, WP:YFA and, if it applies, WP:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. If you intend to write about a living person, read WP:BLP. Hope this helps some! Question from Kate5cz9 (13:21, 20 January 2026)

Thank you for the citation help, that was great! Another question, I've been getting a lot of editing recommendations that say the page seems to be promoting the subject instead of just giving information, and while I agree with that assessment I'm not sure how to fix it. Any suggestions? --Kate (talk) 13:21, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

300 years ago, a Bach cantata was born: happy new year! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:15, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay Gerda, I've been gone. Happy New Year to you too. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:18, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
Thank you - inviting you to check out "my" story (fun listen today, full of surprises), music (and memory), and places (pictured by me: the latest uploads) any day! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:47, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
20 January is the 100th birthday of David Tudor (see my story) and the 300th birthday of Bach's cantata Meine Seufzer, meine Tränen, BWV 13, if we go by date instead of occasion as he would have thought, so see my story for last Sunday, and celebrate ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:58, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

Super simple, how do I save a page without publishing it --PizzaSauce2424 (talk) 02:29, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

@PizzaSauce2424 Everything you write on WP is published, in the sense that anyone who knows where to look can see it. However, if you use for example WP:Article wizard, you will make/publish a draft, like Draft:Kellen Beck, which is published on WP but is not an article. Hope this makes an amount of sense. FA review of Rule of inference

Hello Jenhawk777 and thanks for your FA review of the article Existence a while back. I was wondering whether you may be interested in reviewing the article Rule of inference at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Rule of inference/archive1. I've nominated it for FA status, but it hasn't received enough reviews so far. Thank you for taking a look and please feel under no obligation if now is not a good time. Hello mentor - I've written a few things about our company that I was hoping to put up on wikipedia since we have some products that have unusal names and if someone googles them they may not come up. anyway... Women in Green reviewing drive

Hello Jenhawk777:

This month, February 2026, WikiProject Women in Green is participating in the February 2026 GAN Backlog Drive, in which we're aiming to review as many outstanding Good Article (GA) nominations about women and women's works as possible. If you want to help out, you can check out the project talk page for a list of nominations in need of review (including some WiG originals). If you haven't reviewed a GA nomination before, be sure to check out the reviewing instructions and guidelines and feel free to ask for a mentor to check your work.

We are also working together with a wikithon hosted on 5 February by Wikimedia UK, which will focus on writing and improving articles about women involved in sustainable development. If you want to join the event, feel free to sign up at the eventbrite page; or if you would be interested in providing a 20-minute assessment and/or a full GA review of the submitted articles in the weeks following, put your name down on the project talk page for updates as the event progresses.

We hope to see you there!

Question from JCam73 (19:57, 10 February 2026)

A belated "hello".

My first effort is to submit for review a short biography with citations on my life.

The submission has been lightly edited by others. I'm not sure what I shoul now do to facilitate the process.

Please advise and thank you for much for your assistence.

Question from Sire Denathrius (13:19, 11 February 2026)

Hello Jenhawk777, you're my mentor so I'm hoping you can help me with this. There is a large discrepancy between the bioavailabilities of medications that are exclusively administered via the intravenous route on Wikipedia. By definition, a drug that's given IV has %100 bioavailability. However some of these drugs will have %100, some will have "n/a", and some will have their oral bioavailability percentage listed even though the drug isn't indicated for oral use. How am I supposed to approach fixing this? Should I create a discussion (if so, how?) or somehow mass edit? Thanks in advance and apologies for the long question :) --Sire Denathrius (talk) 13:19, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
