RFC

Hi, Talk:List of wars involving the Czech lands#RfC: List of wars involving Czech lands: 1030 Holy Roman Empire campaing involving Bohemia (Czech land) against Kingdom of Hungary

This is my first RFC. You mentined that this is not short and neutral. Could you help me how should I make it properly? Which part is exactly the problem? I suppose I should describe well the issue. OrionNimrod (talk) 21:24, 10 May 2025 (UTC)

Before even starting an RFC, you have to consider Wikipedia:RFCBEFORE.
Next, RFC statements should be ideally phrased as short question with multiple clear options. Second, you shouldn't be providing arguments for any particular position in your RFC statement. Examples of proper RFC statements can be found at Wikipedia:RFCBRIEF. Your current RFC is several paragraphs long and is an argument aiming to support your position; please edit it to be neutral and short. ―Howard🌽33 21:37, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
Thank you! Should I rewrite or make a new one? OrionNimrod (talk) 20:18, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
You should edit your first statement in the RFC. ―Howard🌽33 20:23, 11 May 2025 (UTC)

Daft Punk

Daft Punk were a French electronic music duo formed in 1993 in Paris by Thomas Bangalter (left) and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. They achieved popularity in the late 1990s as part of the French house movement, combining house music, funk, disco, techno, rock and synth-pop. They are regarded as one of the most influential acts in dance music. From 1999, Daft Punk assumed robot personas for public appearances, with helmets, outfits and gloves to disguise their identities, and made few media appearances. In 2013, the band released their fourth and final album, Random Access Memories, to acclaim. The lead single, "Get Lucky", reached the top 10 in the charts of 27 countries. The album won five Grammy Awards in 2014, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for "Get Lucky". This promotional photograph shows Daft Punk in 2013 after the release of Random Access Memories.

Talk:Google Knowledge Graph#Requested move 3 April 2025

Hello. Thanks for closing this discussion. However, I think this should have been a WP:BARTENDER close to Knowledge Graph (Google), rather than an outright "no consensus" close. Editors appear divided on whether Knowledge Graph is sufficiently distinct from Knowledge graph to distinguish the two topics, but generally agree that the current title is not ideal because Google Knowledge Graph is not the correct name of the feature. This is a formal request to amend your close; otherwise, I will file an appeal at WP:MR. Thank you. InfiniteNexus (talk) 12:39, 25 June 2025 (UTC)

Harold Bloom

Harold Bloom (July 11, 1930 – October 14, 2019) was an American literary critic and the Sterling Professor of humanities at Yale University. In 2017, Bloom was called "probably the most famous literary critic in the English-speaking world". After publishing his first book in 1959, Bloom wrote more than 50 books, including over 40 books of literary criticism, several books discussing religion, and one novel. He edited hundreds of anthologies concerning numerous literary and philosophical figures for the Chelsea House publishing firm. This photograph by Bernard Gotfryd shows Bloom in 1986.

Hi Howardcorn33,

This is to let you know that File:Thomas Eakins, American - Portrait of Dr. Samuel D. The Gross Clinic

The Gross Clinic is an 1875 oil-on-canvas painting by the American artist Thomas Eakins. It measures 8 ft by 6.5 ft (240 cm by 200 cm). The painting depicts Samuel D. Gross (July 8, 1805 – May 6, 1884), a seventy-year-old American medical professor, dressed in a black frock coat and lecturing a group of Jefferson Medical College students in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The painting is based on a surgery, witnessed by Eakins, in which Gross treated a young man for an infected femur. Gross is pictured here performing a conservative operation, as opposed to the amputation normally carried out at the time. Eakins included a self-portrait in the form of a student with a white cuffed sleeve sketching or writing, at the right-hand edge of the painting, next to the tunnel railing. The Gross Clinic has been restored three times, most recently in 2010, and is currently jointly owned by the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

Atari video game burial

The Atari video game burial was a 1983 mass burial of unsold video game cartridges, consoles, and computers, undertaken by the American video game and home computer company Atari, Inc., at a landfill site in the U.S. state of New Mexico. The burial occurred amid the video game crash of 1983, at the end of a disastrous fiscal year that saw Atari being sold off by its parent company Warner Communications. It included 700,000 cartridges of various games, including unsold copies of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), one of the largest video game failures in history. For several decades after the burial was first reported, there were doubts as to its veracity and scope, and it was frequently dismissed as an urban legend. In 2013 and 2014, an excavation was carried out by Fuel Industries, Microsoft, the New Mexico government and others, which revealed discarded games and hardware. Only a small fraction, about 1,300 cartridges, were recovered, with a portion reserved for curation and the rest auctioned to raise money for a museum to commemorate the burial. This photograph shows packaging for cartridges of the video games E.T. and Centipede in situ at the excavation site.

Usambiro barbet

The Usambiro barbet (Trachyphonus usambiro) is a bird in the family Lybiidae, the African barbets, found in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. Formerly treated as a subspecies of d'Arnaud's barbet, it was recognised as a distinct species by the International Ornithologists' Union in 2021. First described in 1908 by Oscar Neumann from specimens collected in Usambiro, Tanzania, it differs from d'Arnaud's barbet in having a longer wing, a shorter tail and a darker bill. The species inhabits open savanna, grassland, shrubland and pasture habitats, including Maasai Mara in Kenya and the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, at elevations of 1,100 to 2,100 metres (3,600 to 6,900 ft). It likely feeds on seeds, fruit and insects, and is listed as a Least-concern species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The Usambiro barbet has a yellow head with black spots, black wings with white spots, and a yellow breast marked by a dark breast band. Its belly is pale yellow with a reddish vent, and the sexes are similar in appearance. This Usambiro barbet was photographed on a branch in the Serengeti National Park.

Suggestion for List of national flags of sovereign states

I refer to the List of national flags of sovereign states article often, but there is one improvement I would suggest making. Several of the flags include white in a section of the flag that includes it's boarder. Russia is a good example. Since the background of the falg column is #FFFFFF, you can not actually see the whole flag. I was going to change the markup to start each cell with a "!" instead of a "|" which makes it grey, but that also declares it as a header, which it is not. Anyway, didn't want to mess with it and felt that it would be better to ask you directly what you thought. I will also add this to the talk page. Israeli Jews

Hi, Howard! Thank you for reverting my edit on this page. I did not realize it violated the Manual of Style and, having read the section you linked, I fully agree with the policy. I came to the page because it was in a backlog of articles with infoboxes needing images. Is there a way to exclude this article from that category so some future editor doesn't repeat my mistake? If you don't know of one, where would I go to find out more? If there isn't a way, what can we do to encourage creating one? Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 21:35, 23 October 2025 (UTC)

Image removal

Hi you removed the image I added for the Al-fasher massacre but you didn't explain why you removed it (other than "sincerity") or replace it with another. Why should that image not be used? Regardless if it's not for the info box it should be used somewhere else in the article Pencilceaser123 (talk) 19:25, 30 October 2025 (UTC)

If you're confused by the thanks it's just the stupid mobile design. Regardless thanks for the other stuff you've done. But I won't be online much next few days. Pencilceaser123 (talk) 19:32, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
The simple reason is because it shows a man smiling and posing near people presumably about to be shot. It is an intentionally degrading image. There are other photos of the massacre online which do not show such humiliation. ―Howard🌽33 20:07, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
I did not intend for the image to be degrading, I chose it to show the horror of the massacere. Not many good images exist at the time. I am open to proposals. Pencilceaser123 (talk) 20:21, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
I believe the satellite images already provided in the article suffice, at least for now. A similar treatment is given at the article October 7 attacks. We should also remember not to select explicit images as the lead image per MOS:SHOCK. ―Howard🌽33 20:32, 30 October 2025 (UTC)

Regarding edit for "Black neon tetra"

Was the change to remove the whole "credit card fraud" part needed?
The fish did reveal the users information on stream; and also did do unauthorized purchases; plus overall the general consensus with the situation is that the fish did commit fraud (given how that's how most sources cite it as such, given how humorous the situation is overall)
Also given that the article had the "Credit card fraud" part for upwards of 2 years, I find it a bit interesting to correct it now.

I personally feel a passing mention of how users consider it "fraud" should be done, given that's the common consensus.
DigiSpaceProductions (talk) 02:41, 22 November 2025 (UTC)

@DigiSpaceProductions: Regardless of the humor of the situation, it is necessary for Wikipedia to remain factual. The provided articles accusing the fish of credit card fraud are being facetious, but I would not object to such descriptions being attributed to them, such as: "IGN, People, and TechSpot described the situation as 'credit card fraud." or something similar.
I also think its unfair to the fish who had no malicious aforethought. ―Howard🌽33 07:12, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
It's not "unfair" to the fish, as the fish cannot understand what people are saying it did; you can also commit crimes without the need for mallice/intent.
Also, WP:BLPCRIME applies solely to humans, not animals; also as said: WP:HUMOR
"When a humorous work on a subject has attracted enough attention to be verifiable in reliable sources,
it can be appropriate to reference that work on the page for the subject it is written about."
DigiSpaceProductions (talk) 17:21, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
Humor does not excuse us from being factually inaccurate. A fish cannot commit fraud of any kind. The simple truth is that the references were being facetious. I have no idea how one can argue with that. ―Howard🌽33 17:24, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
What the fish did still is akin to credit card fraud (buying an item and revealing the card number/security on a live stream without the card holders knowledge or consent, also [alledgedly/possibly, i remember reading about it happening after the events of the stream; though i cant find the info at the moment, so i cannot verify] leading to fraud later down the line), and both arguments sound silly; as the whole situation is silly, though the reveal of the credit card number and security code in itself is serious.
Im just suggesting it be hinted towards/referenced, though WP:HUMOR could be applied either way. DigiSpaceProductions (talk) 17:35, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
I have included the statement in a way that should include this comparison while still being verifiably true. ―Howard🌽33 17:37, 22 November 2025 (UTC)

Hi there :) I have nominated the above article for FA. It is the follow-up to "Dragostea din tei" and a short, but worthwhile read. If you have any time, some of your thoughts would be appreciated on its FAC page. Greets; Cartoon network freak (talk) 15:23, 24 November 2025 (UTC)

@Cartoon network freak: this isn't essential for passing FA so I'll just make one minor suggestion: can you possibly change the cover art to a Romanian edition? It's got German text on it, although this doesn't necessarily matter in the end.
Good luck with the rest of the article. ―Howard🌽33 21:52, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for the suggestion! Sadly no CD of the song was released in Romania. Thus why we use the German version. If you see the article as a potential FA, I'd appreciate a brief support on here (or any other input really). Greets; Cartoon network freak (talk) 01:09, 25 November 2025 (UTC)

Peter Paul Rubens

Sir Peter Paul Rubens (28 June 1577 – 30 May 1640) was a Flemish artist and diplomat. He is considered the most influential artist of the Flemish Baroque tradition. Rubens' highly charged compositions reference erudite aspects of classical and Christian history. His unique and immensely popular Baroque style emphasised movement, colour, and sensuality, which followed the immediate, dramatic artistic style promoted in the Counter-Reformation. Rubens was a painter producing altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings of mythological and allegorical subjects. He was also a prolific designer of cartoons for the Flemish tapestry workshops and of frontispieces for the publishers in Antwerp.

Phil Noble (photographer)

If the source says "Anglo Saxon" then it is a poor translation of the original article we would use the term "English" normally. Theroadislong (talk) 21:06, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

This is what the source literally says in Dutch:

“Het Angelsaksische copyright‑model – letterlijk het recht om te kopiëren – vertrekt doorgaans vanuit de producent of werkgever als rechtenhouder”, weet Neels. “Daarbij trekt het agentschap de exploitatie naar zich toe. In het continentale (Europese) auteursrecht is en blijft de fotograaf de auteur, ook als hij of zij in loondienst werkt.”

Translated:

"The Anglo-Saxon copyright model—literally, the right to copy—usually starts with the producer or employer as the rights holder," Neels explains. "The agency then takes over the exploitation. In continental (European) copyright law, the photographer is and remains the author, even if they are employed."

He is referring here to the Anglo-Saxon copyright model, which is further explained here. ―Howard🌽33 21:10, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
OK...it still sounds extremely weird. Theroadislong (talk) 21:12, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
Not much we can do about his choice of words, I'm afraid. ―Howard🌽33 21:15, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
@Theroadislong: Looking through Dutch Wikipedia, it appears that the word is more accurately translated as "Common law copyright", which English Wikipedia has an article on. I'll edit it to that so it's more clear. ―Howard🌽33 21:20, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
