You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

editHi! I wanted to check something with you if that's ok? I saw the edit that you reverted and then your comment on Robski11's talk page, then saw that they've posted to AN saying it's their career. I initially asked them if it was potential COI but I'm not sure if that's applicable in this case since it's just stats (even if the user is the article subject the COI page says that they can still make some corrections to their own page). Can I please ask if you can take a quick look at this, as you're more familiar? I want to AGF and not unfairly accuse someone of the wrong thing so I removed my comment & wanted to check. Question
editHello Chris, hope this message finds you well. I have a question, is this list eligible for FLC? I'm just not sure if length matters and I honestly do not know how to expand the prose, if you have any suggestions please do help. dxneo (talk) 19:11, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Dxneo: - the length of the list is certainly not an issue. The prose is too short but I am sure it can be expanded. I will take a look and see what I can suggest...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:20, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, sorry to bother you, but I'm still waiting for your suggestion. dxneo (talk) 15:54, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Dxneo: - apologies for not getting back to you. You could definitely expand the lead by adding a brief summary of the winners and nominees in each decade e.g. talk about the emergence of Ladysmith Black Mambazo in the late 80s/90s and how Dave Matthews won loads in the 1990s. Some other points to add: because it's a sortable table, you need to link things every time they are used, not just the first. People's names should sort based on the surname, not the forename. And anything that starts with a " should sort based on the first actual letter/word. Hope that helps! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 16:21, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the lead suggestion, I'll work on it. However, I'm not sure if I follow, so I can link Miriam Makeba on 1961 and also on 1964, or I should link once per section? And can I get an example of what you mean by sorting with surname, please. dxneo (talk) 19:25, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Dxneo: Yes, you should link Miriam Makeba on every single use. To sort by surname, use the following: {{sortname|Phil|Ramone}}. This will make it sort under R rather than P -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 20:09, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- Did the first section only. Is it okay? dxneo (talk) 10:55, 5 February 2025 (UTC)

Thank you today for the article, introduced: "Hi everyone, I decided to give you all a break from articles on Gillingham F.C. seasons and nominate something else. I mean....it's still football, but at least it's different football This article concerns a match won by a team which I would imagine 80% of football fans in 2025 have never heard of, but it's undoubtedly one of the most significant matches in football history, as it accelerated the end of the "gentleman amateur" era and heralded the start of the transformation of football into a business rather than primarily a nice diversion for posh young men. If you watched the Netflix series "The English Game" in 2020 you may know about this game, although frankly very little happened in real life like it happened in that show...."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:25, 9 August 2025 (UTC)

Thank you today for 1905–06 New Brompton F.C. season, ntroduced (in 2022): "Regulars at FAC will be aware that I have recently successfully promoted 17 articles on individual seasons in the history of my beloved Gillingham F.C. A little while back I was asked on my talk page how far back in time I reckoned I could go with these, so here's what I came up with. Just to confirm, this is also a season from the history of Gillingham F.C. but the club was not called that until 1912. If successful I believe this will be the chronologically earliest "club season" article to make it to FA status. One image was taken from a contemporary newspaper and three from a book published in 1906, which I could not afford to buy but have access to facsimile pages."! - I see that you brought five more articles to featured status since I came last: amazing, thank you. - I have Rodion Shchedrin on the same page, my story today. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:09, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.
How do temporary accounts work?
- When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern:
~2025-12345-67(a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5). - All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
- A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
- As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
- There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
- There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.
Temporary account IP viewer user right
- Administrators may grant the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right to non-administrators who meet the criteria for granting. Importantly, an editor must make an explicit request for the permission (e.g. at WP:PERM/TAIV)—administrators are not permitted to assign the right without a request.
- Administrators will automatically be able to see temporary account IP information once they have accepted the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy via Special:Preferences or via the onboarding dialog which comes up after temporary accounts are deployed.
Impact for administrators
- It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
- It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
- Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).
Rules about IP information disclosure
- Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
- Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g.
~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR
, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67) - See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.
Useful tools for patrollers
- It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options →
Enable the user info card
- This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
- Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
- Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
- The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

Charlie Kelman eligible for Scotland
editWhy are you deleting the fact that his father was born in Scotland and he can play for them? ~2025-31219-58 (talk) 16:04, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- Because no reliable published third-party source was provided to indicate that he is eligible to play for Scotland -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 16:06, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the changes on the reference title appreciated on the shootout, the reference to his nationality was always there under reference 19 ASN article cheers mk ~2025-31219-58 (talk) 17:42, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- Stop adding unsourced material to articles. Again, as I advised on my own Talk page, please read WP:OR. Anwegmann (talk) 16:24, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- Charlie Kelman's parents are a Scottish-born father and an English mother. His father moved to the U.S., became a citizen, and passed that citizenship to Charlie, who spent part of his childhood living with him in Dallas, Texas.
- Father: Scottish-born, became a U.S. citizen.
- Mother: English.
- Childhood: Spent time living with his father in Dallas, Texas, during his childhood.
- Goggle it pal your country won the George Cross I am a veteran show some respect, and I am his father quit being a fool! I was there when he was born so I think that is a good enough source, don't you have anything better to do with your life? ~2025-31219-58 (talk) 16:47, 5 November 2025 (UTC)

List of Gillingham F.C. records and statistics
editSorry to burden your door once more @ChrisTheDude but in terms of the above listed page, I want to ask about the player records section. Glenn Morris has obviously broken that record several times up until his most recent injury but I wouldn't know where to citate the player's age from. I also believe that Garath McCleary is now the club's oldest debutant at 38 years old + X amount of days, but again wouldn't be sure what to use to citate that. Would you be able to point me in the right direction please Chris? Randomnia (talk) 11:19, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Randomnia: - unfortunately I can't find any reliable sources that confirm that McCleary broke the record for oldest debutant (must have slipped under the radar!) or that Morris currently holds the oldest player record as at the specific age he was when he last played. I will keep looking, though..... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 12:07, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
- @ChrisTheDudeThanks Chris, its an interesting conundrum really. We both know that those players are older than the statistics previously mentioned showed on the basis of using their dates of birth, but I guess the limitations of the site mean that you definitely require some sort of citation to justify that. Barring using something like soccerbase and manually having to calculate the age they were, it's bit of a pain. Randomnia (talk) 09:51, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Randomnia: I might try contacting the club and asking if they can find a way to make mention on the official website, but I messaged them earlier in the year saying they should post something about it being the 100th anniversary of Freddie Fox becoming the only Gills player to be picked for England and they never even acknowledged the message so I am not holding out much hope...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 09:57, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- @ChrisTheDudeThen I wish you luck with the endeavour. I must admit communication from the club hasn't been forthcoming to me recently when I've contacted them about a couple of things so I hope you have more luck. Randomnia (talk) 14:11, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

Congratulations, and thank you today for 1937–38 Gillingham F.C. season, introduced (in 2022) as "a season from the history of Gillingham F.C. At the end of this particular season, the club lost its place in the Football League, which is timely as the way things are going at the moment the same thing is going to happen at the end of the current season..." - Enjoy the season! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:27, 26 December 2025 (UTC)

edit1994–95 Anglo-Italian Cup
editHi Chris, I've been working on 1994–95 Anglo-Italian Cup recently with the aim of eventually bringing it to G/FAC. I'm mindful that there isn't currently an FA for a specific edition of a football tournament (though there's a few GAs), so I was hoping for some feedback from an experienced football editor or two before deciding what to do with it. If obscure 1990s football tournaments are your thing, would it possible for you to take a look? No worries if not, but any feedback gratefully received. 2012–13 Gillingham F.C. season
editHi @ChrisTheDude I couldn't help but notice when I was taking a peruse of this page that that there is a league summary section under the table showing us winning the league. The summary which I believe is meant to show a breakdown between the home and away record of that season appears to stop after 28 league games and then appears to have been left. I wouldn't know where to citate the full results of that season from on the basis in the same section it mentions BBC Sport, would you mind having a look? If you want to point me in the right direction I can update it myself but I'm not sure of which places breakdown the full home and away results. Randomnia (talk) 10:17, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Randomnia: - I'm not sure how much value there is in that additional level of detail. I would be tempted to just delete it, personally...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 11:11, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

Thank you today for 1876 FA Cup final, introduced (in 2024): "Here's my third (and probably last, at least for the time being) nomination of an article on a Victorian FA Cup final. One of the most striking things about this one was that one factor in the losing team losing was that several of their key players were missing due to "other commitments". Can you imagine some of the Man City or Man United players this year saying "well, I'm terribly sorry boss, but I can't possibly play in the FA Cup final because I am busy that day"? :-)"! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:00, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

The article Gary Sutton (footballer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-notable footballer without evidence of significant coverage. Search returns nothing of relevance. Fails WP:GNG.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. C679 09:15, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

editHi Chris. In case it's useful, this is a diff of the current version versus the version that you previously supported at FLC. The diffs in the table simply represent removing the middle image column and removing 2 of the 4 categories in the next-to-last column. The changes in the ref section are PresN's work, rearranging (but not changing) the refs. In case you want to take a look at it again. - Dank (push to talk) 03:54, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
MDTFC edit
editYou reverted my edit, reason being 'wait for season to finish', however, for Market Drayton Town, their season has already ended, it is just other teams yet to finish, so I did wait for their season to finish until I made the edit.
I would appreciate feedback :) F1fan00 (talk) 09:03, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- plus, the game i had mentioned that could relegate MDTFC takes place tonight, and this is also (i believe) the final day of the season F1fan00 (talk) 09:06, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- @F1fan00: - wait until the game has taken place and then, if Market Drayton do get relegated, add that to the article. If they don't, there's no reason to mention the game in the article at all -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 09:22, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- oh, ok, although i would also like to make you aware that the relegation isn't guaranteed, since when in the 10th Division, there is the possiblity to be reprieved (2023-24 for example) or moved lateraly, most likely to the Midland Football League. F1fan00 (talk) 09:27, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- future me here:
- Good News - did the addition of where 2025/26 ended for MDTFC after the Alsager vs Haughmond game
- Bad News - Alsager beat Haughmond, which could now relegate MDTFC :( F1fan00 (talk) 09:01, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

Congratulations, and thank you today for 1998–99 Gillingham F.C. season, introduced (in 2021): "Following on from four successful promotions, here's another season from the history of English football/soccer club Gillingham. This is one which brings back some very good memories but also some very bad memories of a day at Wembley at the end of the season which ended with me literally crying, which is never a good look for a grown man. Oh well, such is life and football."! - I hope you are not serious about the crying, - it's good for humans. - I have two bios on the same page worth reading. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:10, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

editIt was great to see 1998–99 Gillingham F.C. season on the Main Page today.
