Checking in

edit

Hey 1brianm7, I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing as that was quite a passionate response you made at WT:DYK earlier. I stand with you that what happened at DYK today should not have happened. I'm thankful I noticed it when I did because if it wasn't for the fact that I am also a fan of Kiara then I probably wouldn't have. I hope you didn't mind what I said in my beginning statement about me wanting to nominate the article in the future. It wasn't my intention to steal this from you.

For context, a couple of months ago, I was working on a Kiara article too and got a decent ways through it in a userpage of mine. However, because I have other priorities (on-site and IRL) and also one of the interviews of hers I couldn't get a hold of to read, I ended up losing steam on the article and went onto do other things, with the hope of being able to revive it in the future. I did have my own DYK hook in mind too. I was a bit disappointed someone got to it before I did but I was still thankful she got one at all and was written by someone who cared to make one for her in the first place. (I also planned on making a Korone article but I haven't started that yet.) I still do plan to do a revamp of Kiara at some point as well. That being said, I hope you are doing well and maybe we can hopefully work on vtuber projects together in the future. All the best, CaptainGalaxy 21:49, 26 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hey, thanks for the kind words. None of my anger is directed at you. I would be very willing to work on a Vtuber project with you at some point in the future. Sorry for grabbing it (somebody doing that with an article of mine is a huge fear, though that is luckily much less likely for a random member of the California Senate who died in 1908).
I would say more but I am really stressed out right now about this whole thing and am probably going to shut off of wiki for the day. Thank you 1brianm7 (talk) 22:11, 26 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Asking for permission

edit

Hello again, 1brianm7. I hope you are feeling better today. I saw you have re-opened the Kiara DYK and was wondering if I could add an ALT hook with your permission? Even if the re-nomination gets shot down, I would like to at least help you in your case. All the best, CaptainGalaxy 21:32, 27 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. That would be completely fine with me. I remembered after reopening the nom that you had mentioned you had hook ideas and intended to send a talk page message, but I forgot. Cheers. 1brianm7 (talk) 21:46, 27 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the permission, I have gone ahead and added the hook. In addition I have improved the section that involved the hook on the article from the draft I made. Hope you like it, CaptainGalaxy 21:58, 27 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

One of the best stories I've seen at DYK in a while, in my opinion (probably because I also put way too much effort into finding information on one- or two-game sportspeople, although not anywhere near as much effort as that guy did). Thanks for writing it. BeanieFan11 (talk) 23:28, 16 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! In the past, I've spent a few months trying to find info on obscure persons, and the satisfaction I felt after finding a drawing of a person made 25 years before their first photo was immense. I can't imagine how it feels after 30 years. 1brianm7 (talk) 23:52, 16 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much! Yeah... that journal article, it really is something. It's very gratifying to see the article improved so much (and for the recognition!), and it's only gonna get better. I mean, I've been working on it for not four months, and putting aside that I'm not at all done, in that time 5 of the 8 academic papers that mention Neuro substantially have been published. 1brianm7 (talk) 05:48, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your hard work

edit

Thank you for the work you've put into the Hololive members in the english language! I have translated over some of your written content into the romanian wikipedia articles for the same ones and it has been a tremendous help! That's all I have to say, have a great day or night! ≽(•⩊ •マ≼ Melonoone (talk) 22:29, 28 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much! I had gotten some Wikidata notifications about pages being connected with Ro.wiki versions in the past, and it was interesting to see how much coverage of Hololive members there is over there. Nice work! It's interesting to see how our work has sometimes coincided. You made ro:Inugami Korone five days before I made en:Inugami Korone and you made ro:Juufuutei Raden three days before I made en:Juufuutei Raden. 1brianm7 (talk) 23:13, 28 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
At this format I'm doing the things in order, Been doing it since like November 2025. I also made some custom templates like this or that since in my opinion most infoboxes on the romanian wiki are a bit outdated from a stylistic point of view (then again I will have to have a discussion with the fellows that do edit the red lock formats one day...)
I also wonder why on enwiki and usually only on there the picture in the infobox is like over 1/3 of the page width when in most other lang versions its like 1/4 or technicalities like that (this has been the case for pages of any person in general, is it a standard over here?). The one biggest struggle is copyrighted material. Like for instance I tried to make a discography list table and have the cover on a column at the discography section, but Ive been wrist-slapped for it in the past, so I'm stuck to using colours and gradients (for the most part).
Well either way it's a bit more lively over here at the english wikipedia than at the romanian wikipedia. I have noticed you guys really cover everything (partly due to a convergence of english being internationally spoken and I'm pretty sure more used in my own country than the local version as well).
See you at the next occasion to chat! Melonoone (talk) 10:06, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
