word "stem group"
editI recognised that the word "stem group" means the several basal extinct lineages against the extant major clades (crown group). Is the usage in this template correct? --Kingfiser (talk) 10:40, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- Some people use it as a synonym of 'branch-based clade' (i.e. everything more closely related to A than to B) but this is not the standard, orthodox definition of stem-group. Kiwi Rex (talk) 17:27, 8 September 2024 (UTC)
Acknowledging the contribution of Alphaproteobacteria
editEukaryotes could not have formed without mitochondria. I think there should be something like "+Rickettsiales" or "+Alphaproteobacteria" under eukaryotes and "other Asgard archæa" should be disambiguated to show that eukaryotes are not Asgard archæa. Additionally the "other Asgard archæa branch should probably be represented as many branches, as the original host cell of eukaryotes was nested deep within the Asgard archæa.
