Some believe the hanging violated the rules of the Geneva conventions for how to treat Prisoners of War. There needs to be more detail here if it is to be included. Roadrunner 21:05, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Suffocating Death "Struggle" that Lasted 24 Minutes?

edit

It is well understood by medical science that victims of hanging lose consciousness almost without exception in less than a minute after suspension. They do not regain functional consciousness at any point. Reflexes and muscles spasms are not a "struggle"...and yet we see this fallacy repeated all over the place. Wikipedia should not be a place of misinformation.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.88.37.238 (talkcontribs)

I'm glad that he hit his head on the way down, and likely suffered for a while.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.188.108.204 (talk) 06:58, 22 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

What did he do in WW1?

edit

The article jumps from his marriage in 1909 to his war ministry work in 1929. Surely he must have seen action in WW1? 90.155.34.28 (talk) 21:16, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Relationship to Kitty Oppenheimer

edit

Keitel was a first cousin - once removed of Kitty Oppenheimer, not her uncle.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:4040:2AA1:1A00:E4E0:83E2:641A:D450 (talk) 03:02, 22 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Indeed - her mother was Keitel's cousin. Is the reference on the Kitty Oppenheimer page sufficient to overide the reference cited here? Gilgamesh4 (talk) 18:49, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

More neutral, encyclopedic tone

edit

"He signed a number of criminal orders and directives that led to numerous war crimes." -> "He signed orders and directives that were later determined to constitute war crimes by the International Military Tribunal."

"He was reviled among his military colleagues as Hitler's habitual 'yes-man.'" -> "He was criticized by some military colleagues for his close alignment with Hitler's directives." (Unless the former is sourced) SilentExplorer (talk) 21:40, 13 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
