Numerous uncited paragraphs, including most of the Notable people section and residences. Demographics section needs an update of the prose, and the history section needs an update of COVID-19 information (and I'd argue that it needs to be expanded to include many more significant events). Z1720 (talk) 01:58, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- Delist per citation issues and outdated demographics. This history section overall does seem lopsided, though I don't know if COVID-19 is due, unless it uniquely had a major effect on the university. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 07:44, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
- I agree that the article does look outdated somewhat. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 12:06, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

Change current president from Meric Gertler to Melanie Woodin. [1] Historicalbenzenering (talk) 14:22, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
: WP:TOOSOON According to the linked source, she doesn't take office until July. PianoDan (talk) 17:01, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
Not done
- @PianoDan We could still add it in some paragraph in this article as information, but not directly change the current president. Justjourney (talk) 17:08, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Given that we don't mention the CURRENT president anywhere in the article, I'm not sure where the change would go. Do you have a suggestion for wording and location? PianoDan (talk) 19:45, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- @PianoDan
I mean the infobox mentions the current president.Justjourney (talk) 19:48, 26 March 2025 (UTC)- The infobox says "President". Then let's have sentences explaining it. Justjourney (talk) 19:51, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I'm being clear - it's a requirement of using the "Edit Request" template that you provide the exact language you'd like added, along with where you want it to go. "Change X to Y" (although "x" can be blank).
- I don't think the infobox needs to be updated at this time, so if you'd like to suggest verbiage for the body, please spell it out word for word. PianoDan (talk) 19:56, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Alright then. Justjourney (talk) 19:57, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- As you said above, waiting for when she will be in office. Justjourney (talk) 19:58, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Regardless, Gertler is still president until July. We wait until then. We don't change presidents on sudden announcements as there are always transition periods. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 00:42, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- It's soon time to update the president and will be marked as "done." Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 00:34, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
Done but not by me. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 13:24, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Rules For Notable Alumni
editHi! Just saw my edit reversed on notable alumni at UFT. I am hoping to add a sentence with more recent alumni specifically in entrepreneurship. I do have a slight bias as I am a (now retired) business professor at Waterloo but do think Canadian students should see more recent successes in entrepreneurship on top of the one the page already mentions. My only issue with the way things stand right now is that most of the notable business alumni graduated the university 40-50 years ago and we have the opportunity to highlight more recent successes.
Here are some of the candidates I was thinking would appreciate everyone feedback:
-Sam Ibrahim. More recent UFT grad and successful entrepreneur. Made the largest donation in the history of the Scarborough Campus (https://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/sicieeil/ and has the entrepreneurship center named after him.
- Ali Zaheer. Another more recent UFT grad. Seems to be a favorite of the university given that they wrote 5 separate articles about him and is notable given other Canadian press about his work and business.
- Aiden Gomez (Aidan Gomez), created Cohere which is worth over 25B USD
These are just a few names which I believe we can add in the business category. Massive successes in their own right and given the University shining a spotlight on them I believe a sentence that highlights them would be appropriate. Greencheckconure (talk) 23:58, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
- Ibrahim and Zaheer need to have articles of their own first. Currently, they don't have articles. Once they have articles can they be added to List of University of Toronto alumni instead. For Gomez, he can be added directly to List of University of Toronto alumni, not the main University of Toronto article. Remember to follow to format there. Thanks. Refine "Nobel Laureates"
editI propose removing Michael Spence from the list of Nobel Laureates associated with the University of Toronto. Michael Spence is widely listed with 13 laureates; however, he has no official academic affiliation (neither as a student nor as a faculty member) with the University of Toronto. Including him based on non-academic, peripheral connections misrepresents the university's actual academic record. Correcting this will bring the total count to 12. ~2026-34212-63 (talk) 22:09, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
