Too much focus on Trumpism

edit

There is too much focus on "Trumpism" in this article. Although Trump did kickstart the movement and he is a leader of it as the president, the article should not focus too much on Trump but rather on the new right-wing movement Trump started and laid foundation for to continue even after him. There are already figures within MAGA movement who are not 100% aligned with Trumpism or are even critical of Trump. The new faces emerging in the movement might be thankful and supportive of Trump for kickstarting the movement, but might think that he does not goes far enough and maybe he even played out his potential for the movement. James Fishback can be described as one of the first of these new MAGA candidates. Joel Webbon is another such figure and Nick Fuentes too can be described as part of MAGA movement. Tucker Carlson and Candice Owens have also occupied new niche and are not just "Trumpist". The word "Trumpism" suggests that Trump's ideology is where the ideological evolution of the movement stops, but it would not be an accurate suggestion. Forteur (talk) 00:19, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The MAGA movement is, as NPR states, intrinsically tied to Trump.[1] "MAGA" is overwhelmingly associated with Trumpism, and you will find virtually no people who oppose Trump call themselves MAGA. Two people you mentioned here, Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens, have since denounced Donald Trump and publicly denounced the MAGA movement as well.[2] They would describe themselves as "America First." Trump himself has declared that anyone who does not support him is "not MAGA." MAGA is the movement advocating for the implementation of the ideas under Trumpism, and is ultimately a cult-of-personality under Trump.[3] DocZach (talk) 03:12, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
