  • Comment: nominating this for a CHRISTMAS prep queue (i realise there's been a lot of discussion about DYKs for Jilly Cooper's works and in this discussion I offered to do multi noms with this exception as I think it works really well for Christmas!

• @Lajmmoore: The two hooks aren't really compliant with MOS:EGG, I suggest ALT2: ... that Jilly Cooper once wrote an "Xmasochist's Guide" on surviving Christmas? I also suggest that this could in fact be made into a multinom by bringing Cooper to GA.--Launchballer 23:15, 11 October 2025 (UTC)

Oh, I misread the above comment. I thought the issue was with the hooks and not the plan to bring Jilly to GA. Are you still planning to do so? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 12:06, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

Ideally I'd like to, but I'm not sure I will have time. Is there a limit on when I could add a GA to this hook? (if it does get held for Christmas) Lajmmoore (talk) 16:18, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

There is no limit as to when a double nom can be added; I added Mesadorm to Blythe Pepino six weeks after I created the nomination.--Launchballer 16:22, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

• @Lajmmoore: In the meantime, giving this a full review. The article was moved to mainspace on the day of the nomination, and meets the length requirements. Apart from the Synopsis section (which does not need references), everything is properly referenced. A full QPQ has been provided. I did not find any close paraphrasing. Although the proposed hooks are interesting, none of them would meet WP:DYKHFC since the book's title, and even the "Xmasochist" subtitle, lack footnotes. Yes, the hooks are meant to be quirky, but without proper referencing, they can't be used. Instead, possible options could involve hooks based on the Reception section.

In the meantime, since it is unclear if Jilly will be nominated for GA anytime soon, and even if she was, if it would make it in time for Christmas, my suggestion would be to move forward with this nomination without Jilly, and propose a separate nomination for her. Given her recent death and the circumstances, DYK will probably give leeway regarding the excess of Jilly hooks. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 08:58, 15 November 2025 (UTC)

Thank you. Upon reflection, I think ALT5 might not be compliant with WP:DYKFICTION, so I am only approving ALT3 and ALT4. I do have a slight preference for ALT4, but I will leave the final choice to the promoter and I will not object if ALT3 is promoted instead. @Lajmmoore: As an aside, since I'm sure DYK will be lenient just this once given Cooper's recent death, would you be open to have a solo hook just for Jilly? Yes, the recent DYK preference has been to multi-hooks, but I'm sure DYK would be fine with it given the circumstances. Also, it might be better to just have a hook about Jilly herself than any specific book since she did so many and it would be hard to choose which one to focus on.
