Overdose Section

edit

The Overdose section ends with a long, rambling statement that is in no way related to ref #88. I think the entire part of the section attributed to ref #88 should be struck. 2600:1700:6AE5:2510:0:0:0:24 (talk) 21:07, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I have removed a sentence that I presume you were referring to. Just to note the page is not protected so you are welcome to make the edit yourself. Traumnovelle (talk) 00:34, 8 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Fentanyl fold

edit

I added a section on the "fentanyl fold", which is a fairly notable and visible symptom of fentanyl intoxication in cities where there is widespread addiction. This was removed for not using WP:MEDRS sources, but MEDRS is pretty clear that it only applies to biomedical information, which this was (mostly) not. I feel something about fent leans should be included in the article given that it is one of the most visible aspects of the opioid crisis in the US. David Palmer//cloventt (talk) 00:34, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

'The fold is likely a more extreme form of the head nodding associated with other opioid intoxication, resulting from the depressing effect of opioids on the nervous system and loss of muscle control.'; 'The extremely slumped-over posture indicates a low point of consciousness'; and 'though the posture may indicate a person is very close to experiencing an overdose.' are certainly medical claims.
The only sources in academia about this are this , in Current addiction research, written by a researcher at a social psychology department and , which is published in a journal about Parkinsons, which doesn't ascribe it to fentanyl and points out other potential origins. There is no evidence that this is caused by fentanyl and not something else.
If it is 'one of the most visible aspects of the opioid crisis in the US', then the most appropriate article is opioid epidemic in the United States, not this one. Traumnovelle (talk) 00:53, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Post surgery

edit

Is fentanyl not used peri-operatively and post-operatively? The quick clearance and onset make it ideal for peri-operative use and as a CRI. Sacristy (talk) 01:40, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
