Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on June 3, 2011.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that Bach chose an unusually complex instrumentation in his cantata for the feast of Ascension, Auf Christi Himmelfahrt allein, BWV 128, "two horns, oboes of every kind, strings and continuo and latterly one trumpet"?

Trumpet in lead (as opposed to "Lead Trumpet"!)

edit

Is there a reason why the trumpet is omitted from the instrument list in the lead? I feel discriminated against! :) I was tempted to pop it in but then worried that I had missed a memo or there's been discussion of its slight non-mainstream status, which is why I am here now. Thank you. I was sure I added it, but obviously not. But now. Sorry. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:52, 30 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Infobox and lead

edit
  • Replace hlist with bullet points per Template:Infobox song
This is infobox musical composition. The instruments in a Baroque orchestra are sometimes many, it would make the infobox very long if they were bulleted. {{hlist}} is therefore consistently used. --GA
  • The first para of the lead should mention the text was possibly changed by Bach himself after stating why he was composed it; the performance should be the last part
The text change seems no information needed immediately, especially if not even certain, but the performance is needed, - it's like a birth date for a person. --GA
  • "It begins, unlike" → "The cantata begins, unlike"
I am not sure, because I have been criticised for using the word "cantata" too much in previous reviews. Perhaps you can convince me ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:49, 13 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

History and words

edit
  • Is a comma really needed before the usage of 'and' after (Acts 1:1–11)?
It is needed, but I added to clarify that it is two types of readings. (I still don't know the grammar terms ...) --GA
  • Img looks good!
    thank you! --GA
  • Where is the personal view part mentioned by [6]?
Good catch! I added Dürr, in the translation. --GA
  • Remove wikilink on chorale per WP:SEAOFBLUE
    yes --GA
  • Where do the sources mention these religious quotes or am I missing something here?
    more Dürr added --GA
  • Last two paras look solid!
thank you! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:26, 13 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
