Anti-vandalism tool with significant overlap
While it has been rarely maintained in the past few years, the page User:Lupin/badwords contains a list of images alongside potential vandalism words, and predates both this list and AbuseFilter. Some images on this list may be now deleted, relatively tame (such as old paintings) or not actively used to vandalise, but should some entries on that page that are not already on this list be added? May I get permission to use the Logo for Hezbollah in Hezbollah's sidebar?
For the logo of Hezbollah, could I get permission to use it in the sidebar? I don't mean to spread political extremism and only want to improve on Wikipedia in my eyes. GuesanLoyalist (talk) 11:15, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
- No, sorry. The sidebar is a template and non-free images can only be used in article space. If it were added to the template, the non-free bot would simply remove it again. Black Kite (talk) 11:55, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

- This has been discussed in the past and the consensus was they should be rendered in low resolution and that's enough. Stifle (talk) 16:45, 6 November 2025 (UTC)

Doug flag

After users persistently readded the Doug flag to the infobox of Cascadia movement, I added a note to stop adding this non-free image in the relevant spot of the infobox. Then in Special:Diff/1331518317 earlier today, a user added the flag at a different place in the article. I'd suggest adding File:Doug flag.svg to the blacklist as a persistently readded non-free image. There is no clear precedent for this, since most of the currently listed files are offensive images used for vandalism. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 21:39, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
- Actually, it looks like per MediaWiki_talk:Bad_image_list/Archive_7#Repeatedly_abused_non-free_media there is relevant precedent for a predecessor of File:Flag of Hezbollah.svg being added due to people misusing the image. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 21:43, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

- In *General*, images are added here if they are offensive, shocking or meet other criteria and/or repeated vandalism. . And yes, the image is used in other related articles on other wikis (Hitler on frwiki and Propaganda on nlwiki), but to me, this is only one level (and maybe not even a complete level) beyond the images in Der Fuehrer's Face (Donald duck cartoon).
