Check sources before blind reversion

In this edit you re-introduced information that doesn't match the cited sources, #1 & 2. You blindly assumed that the article was correct. You should go clean up all those reversions. More homework, less attitude. Toddst1 (talk) 06:04, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Toddst1: Yeah, that's my fault. Sorry. I assumed the article text matched the cited sources.
However: sources seem to be inconsistent as to whether the event was June 26-29 or June 28-29. This source says it would be June 28-29, while this source says it would be June 26-29. So which is it? SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 12:35, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't know. However, the source needs to match the statement in the article per WP:V. Toddst1 (talk) 16:24, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hope

It's good to have hope, even when you're continually disappointed. For what it's worth, I used to be way way more optimistic about the WMF myself. Then I started realizing why so many people were jaded as hell. But I still try to make things better and sometimes things improve slightly. It's always worth trying. It'd be nice if people didn't have to try so hard for it to matter, but that doesn't make that effort pointless. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 15:10, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 15:12, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, we do need voices that constructively challenge group think, you didn't do anything wrong. Only thing I'd say is to defer a bit to others who have more information available to them, but that is not always clear or easy to discern. FWIW I (and likely many others) still think you're great Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 18:17, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think part of what's hard in a situation like this is you're either bringing up something people genuinely haven't considered before (a very good thing!) or everyone already has thought of that and is a bit offended that you'd ask if their basic premise is even correct. If we could rewrite history, it'd probably be best if you had left to the one comment and asked Tamzin directly, instead of changing thread titles/creating a whole separate section, but it's also not the end of the world. I hope you feel comfortable respectful challenging authority in the future if you feel uneasy. I'd rather someone feel able to say something than keep it to themselves. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 18:24, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the kind words. I really hope this situation can be de-escalated. The VPW discussion is getting so long and bloated that I had to unsubscribe from it, it's been heavily sidetracked to involve WWU and union-busting allegations when I don't think the layoffs had anything to do with WWU, and there are multiple editors chanting "death to the Foundation!" and proposing things like locking all of enwiki and/or causing massive disruption.
I don't want to strike. I'm not happy with the idea that strikebreakers will get punished. But the groupthink is very strong. That's one of the disadvantages of a consensus decision-making model: it encourages groupthink.
I've regained a lot more hope in the WMF after seeing them acknowledge suggestions to improve the wishlist on meta. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 17:15, 23 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't mean to bother you and I apologise if my tone was harsh previously. In hindsight, I wouldn't have been so direct with you had I had known your concerns. I just want to let you know that I am listening and will now make the effort to evaluate things in more depth. What I mean by this is I previously ignored all the noise about "strike breakers" because to me that's all it was: the opinion of a single editor, somewhat blown out of proportion. But if editors are genuinely concerned that this could be reality, despite the strong push-back and lack of support for such an opinion, then it's clear that more does in fact need to be discussed regarding it. Btw I'd recommend joining the WP:DISCORD. Tbh until very recently I used to think off-wiki forums were bad since it makes things less accessible to newbies and harder to incorporate them, but the discord (and probably WP:IRC as well) are useful given how inefficient it is communicating on-wiki Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 18:24, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Things seem to be improving slightly. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 18:51, 27 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
More positive updates. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 01:03, 30 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Trouted

a rainbow trout fish

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

You have been trouted for: I am no Timelash sock!! D= LuniZunie(talk) 00:28, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

This is why you check that you're on the right user's contributions BEFORE reporting them to SRG... sorry about that! SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 00:52, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sam. (The period is there intentionally)

Hi! You reverted Nelechann's (talk, contribs) edits to Sam. because they hijacked the article, but they just did it again. Given they were already warned, what is the best course of action?
Thanks, This is a hard decision (talk to me!, contribs) 16:22, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I reverted them. You can likely report them to AIV. Also, it seems they may have a sockpuppet now, as the brand-new account Babanambaybz showed up to edit the hijacked article. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 17:16, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, there is a move review underway relevant to a discussion you were recently involved in. Link above. Thanks. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 19:49, 27 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Compromised

Hello, can you provide the context behind this edit? Jay 💬 04:12, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

The account is currently globally locked as a suspected compromised account. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 15:13, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Do you get notified, or any page we need to watch to know of compromised accounts? Jay 💬 16:00, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Not really. It's really based on behavior. If you see an account that's been inactive for a decade suddenly reactivate to move promotional drafts to mainspace, it's probably compromised. If you spot an account you suspect is compromised, report it to m:SRG. I also have User:GeneralNotability/mark-locked installed, which shows a dashed red underline under any account that is globally locked, much like how you can change your preferences to strike out blocked usernames. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 16:26, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Specifically, it seems to have been compromised by Alakmarsaify. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 15:14, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

CSD log

Because of repeated vandalism using multiple sockpuppets, I have indefinitely semi-protected User:SuperPianoMan9167/CSD log. If for some reason you don't want that protection then let me know, but I can't think of any good reason not yo have it. JBW (talk) 13:20, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

I can't think of any good reason not to have protection myself. Thank you! SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 19:02, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
