Maki Mori (soprano)

edit

I just created an article on soprano Maki Mori. I did what I could with English language materials. I know she has worked frequently in Japan, and the article could benefit from Japanese language materials. If anyone is willing to help expand with Japanese sources I would appreciate it. I think this article on a Japanese submarine could use with some copyediting. Kingsacrificer (talk) 10:14, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Japanese topics among oldest orphans on Wikipedia

edit

Hi! The oldest orphans on Wikipedia are from November 2015. Sixteen of these 10-year old orphans are Japan-related. They need attention from an expert in Japan. Here is the list: Katsu Kamisaka, Yumi Karahashi, Hōchōdō, Kozo Inoue, Reitaro Ito, Kanpu masatsu, Isao Kiso, Yo Kobayashi, List of different terms by Christian denominations in Japanese, Seiji Naito, Saitama Medical University College, Shujitsu Junior College, Soichiro Shimizu, Tenjin zaka, Toki Jurozayemon Mitsuchika, Umadashi Matsuri. Typically these articles have multiple issues. Your help to review the articles, fix the issues, especially de-orphan them, would be greatly appreciated. Load of articles gone from class C to class B

edit

Hey hey, does anyone know why / how about 200 articles (as far as I can tell by the WikiProject Japan stats page) belonging to the Project have been reclassified from Class B to Class C? It’s the most annoying step up to make, so it would kind of suck of someone just came through and dropped them all for no reason… Absurdum4242 (talk) 17:44, 6 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Aomori Prefecture made GA, request input for FA

edit

Aomori Prefecture just made GA. We'd (Mccunicano and I) like to get it to FA. Any input appreciated before we list at FAC. I think this is the first Japanese prefecture article to get to GA. FYI Dr. Blofeld. MisawaSakura (talk) 00:29, 15 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

It is now at FAC. MisawaSakura (talk) 13:40, 20 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Help polishing History of Shinto

edit

Hello all. I have finally finished checking/retranslating the History of Shinto article. I would now greatly appreciate any help polishing it. Please do edit for consistency, readibility, and, well, anything else you think it needs.

If you find something that doesn't make sense or you think has been mistranslated and would like me to take another look, please feel free to ping me/post on my talk page. Erynamrod (talk) 18:35, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Nice job so far but what leaps out at me is need for even more refs. Entire paragraphs have no ref. Every major point should have a ref. I suggest you go get a Wiki Library account, if you don't have one, then go to jstor (and other sources). I just went to jstor and searched for "history of shinto" and got lots of hits; that no one will question because they're journal articles. Fix up the refs and I think you have a GA, maybe eventually FA here. MisawaSakura (talk) 19:10, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the input! I'll look at refs next since right now it's basically just the ones that were in the original ja article. I have a small collection of books on Shinto/history of Shinto as well I plan to use for refs as necessary (unfortunately none of the ones from the ja article for confirming citations...), but it's always nice to have a second set of eyes. I've seen this problem on every wiki except the english one, referencing is poor. You can translate a non-en wiki article but as you saw a lot of it will be unreferenced. MisawaSakura (talk) 11:08, 22 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Sendai Shirō

edit

This article was written perhaps using machine translation based on the Japanese Wikipedia article. I've linked it from the Sendai page and made some formatting/slight grammatical fixes, but any help cross-checking/formatting it or perhaps integrating it more into Wikipedia if possible would be appreciated. It is undoubtedly a notable topic (that I personally found fascinating), but the creator of the English Wikipedia article about Sendai Shirō shockingly went on to draw a loaded gun at WikiConference North America in protest of Wikipedia's policies against blocking self-identified pedophiles. It is on my list to check the translation of this article eventually, but my list is very long so I don't really see myself getting to it in the immediate future. But if there's any part that you think is particularly bad/nonsensical/potentially damaging to the article, let me know and I can take a look at that sooner.
