Error on dead links
editT305178 Hi, when creating archive links, archiveurl=, it's also creating deadurl=yes, which is a deprecated parameter, and therefore errors. Please replace with |url-status=dead. Thanks for setting up the tool, I use it loads, Tom B (talk) 13:20, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Tpbradbury: thanks Tom, this is known about, and once we've got our house in order this will get fixed at last. I will archive this thread for now. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:48, 9 June 2023 (UTC)
- I have unarchived this section, since it is a perennial topic for a few years now. It looks like some slow development has happened and has stalled. See T352379 for details. – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:06, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- Same issue on §Invalid parameter usage.––kemel49(connect)(contri) 12:38, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
deadurl?
editWhy does refill use the non-existent parameter deadurl=y? Can't someone just change it in the code or something to be url-status=dead instead? Schützenpanzer (Talk) 20:26, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- See #Error on dead links above. This has been happening since 2019. – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:06, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
Invalid parameter usage
editI edited using refill on a page and it added a parameter |deadurl= which shown as invalid, i guess |url-status= was an appropriate parameter but refill forgot that.––kemel49(connect)(contri) 12:36, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
Doesn't seem to be working?
editI've been using this tool to fix bare references for a long time, and it doesn't seem to be working anymore. Try running it on List of oil refineries & see what it does for you - thanx. Guy1890 (talk) 01:38, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Guy1890. I got a "The tool encountered some errors. Click on the red pencil icons for details.", but I was still able to click on the "Preview/save" button and continue despite the errors. So in other words, the tool worked for me. Is this also what is happening for you?
- Is this different than what the tool did a week or two ago?
- Could also try a different page. Could also try Ctrl+F5 to hard reload the browser page. –Novem Linguae (talk) 07:14, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- That's odd - I saw someone else discuss doing the Ctrl+F5 before, so I tried that before I posted here. I usually don't click on the red pencil icons, so maybe one of them was holding the tool up? The tool seems to run a lot faster than it did before on the page that I originally referenced above. I'll keep an eye on it - thanx! This is a great tool BTW. Working, but different
editThe tool used to display the diffs. Now it just displays the complete page source. — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 17:03, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- I vaguely remember this feature. I think I forgot to test this feature and didn't notice when it broke. Will work on a fix. –Novem Linguae (talk) 08:19, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
Fixed. Thanks for reporting! –Novem Linguae (talk) 01:16, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- Awesome. Not the same as before, but arguably even better. Many thanks — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 12:00, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
Not the same as before
. Out of curiosity, what changed? My impression was that we were mostly 1:1 now with what was up 2 weeks ago, with the exception of maybe some minor visual differences regarding fonts/margin/positioning. –Novem Linguae (talk) 12:09, 19 April 2026 (UTC)- Always a problem, remembering exactly how things were a while back ... I think that the previous version showed only the diffs and the new version shows the source as well, but maybe it was always there

Issues with Safari on iOS
editAsked about this a year or so ago and never heard back - but I’m unable to use ReFill on Safari iOS. It processes etc. but when I select the option to Prefiew/Save, it takes me back to the page as expected… but doesn’t apply the changes - when I select Show Changes there aren’t any changes made. Any ideas? Danners430 tweaks made 08:55, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- Unable to reproduce on https://www.browserling.com/browse/mac15/safari18/refill.toolforge.org. However that website uses desktop rather than mobile. I don't own any Apple stuff so don't have an easy way to try to reproduce your bug. Any talk page watchers want to try to reproduce this? Also can I please get your exact versions of iOS and Safari? –Novem Linguae (talk) 12:48, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- So using iOS 26.5 Beta 2, although this has happened for many months now even on public releases, and Safari 26.5. I am using AdGuard Pro which is a content blocker and local VPN, but the issue occurs even with it disabled. Also, Safari settings which may be relevant: Prevent cross site tracking is enabled, and advanced tracking and fingerprinting protection is enabled for all websites. Wikipedia is set to always open in desktop mode. Danners430 tweaks made 13:36, 22 April 2026 (UTC)

You can try temporarily disabling those and see if it fixes it. Easier for you to test directly I think.Wikipedia is set to always open in desktop mode.
refill.toolforge.org is a different domain than Wikipedia. Although maybe desktop mode is per tab rather than per domain. Might be another good one to temporarily turn off and see if anything changes. –Novem Linguae (talk) 13:46, 22 April 2026 (UTC)- Tried each in turn and a combination of them all and unfortunately no change. Also tried disabling content blockers and reducing privacy protections in the ReFill tab to no avail. Danners430 tweaks made 13:53, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
