Proposal to establish WikiProject Penang
editHello, as the title suggests, I have been gathering information to create a WikiProject for Penang, which I intend as a way to organise and cleanup articles specifically related to Penang itself. I have created a draft for how this arrangement of articles should be done:
User:PenangLion/Wikiprojects sandbox
I hope other fellow Malaysian editors would join this project so we can actually move past the proposal stage. Thanks.

- Hi @PenangLion and others! Through the WP:MAR26 campaign, which includes trying to find citations for the articles that have been unsourced for the longest amount of time, I ran into Pinang Tunggal, which has been tagged as lacking sources since September 2010. I noticed that this is one of several small, minimally-sourced articles about neighborhoods of Seberang Perai, and they seem like good candidates for merging into Butterworth, Seberang Perai, or Seberang Perai (depending on the individual article), and I posted that suggestion here: Talk:Seberang Perai#Merge in articles about neighborhoods. But I'm not familiar with this region, so I'd be happy for somebody familiar to take a look and see what you think. Thank you! Dreamyshade (talk) 01:29, 27 March 2026 (UTC)

The article Leka Beach has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unsourced for 16 years. Tagged as Unreferenced for almost 2 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. A Google search found two different beaches, one in a town and another many miles away that is a beach bar. Fails the relevant notability guidelines and even verification. Created by a SPA. Lacks significant coverage.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 15:48, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
Kulintang has been nominated for a good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status may be removed from the article. Z1720 (talk) 20:43, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

The DCWC is back!

Hey WikiProject Malaysia, the Developing Countries WikiContest is back for a third year, and sign-ups are now open! The contest will run from 1 July to 30 September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia.
Thanks to everyone who answered the call for coordinators, and please welcome the new faces on the coordinator team: the 2024 Gold Belt Buckle winner Generalissima (talk · contribs); and the record-holder for most India-related submissions in 2024, Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs)! Following feedback from last year, adjustments have been made to the scoring rules; discussion can be found on the contest talk page.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or contact one of the coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), Generalissima (talk · contribs), Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs).
