Discord

I'm wondering if you ever thought about joining the Wikimedia Discord. More info at WP:DISCORD. –Fredddie 03:06, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi, Freddie! I didn't know about the existence of Wikimedia Discord. Although it catches my attention, I don't think I have the time to enter that platform as I would like. I really appreciate your interest. Yarfpr (talk) 02:04, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

Yo soy Boricua, pa'que tu lo sepas!#References

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yo_soy_Boricua,_pa%27que_tu_lo_sepas!

Hello Yarfpr I see that you were one of the last making changes to the page and today I saw some articles were missing from the page and added them. It looks like I might have had an issue with the format on the way it looks. If you could take a look.

Someone should maybe update with latest info from the song and look into making a wiki for Taino as the latest reference from U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in congress went into the congressional record and its an important historical point for Taino and his composition. I had no idea how to add this mention but here is the link to congress records. You can do a term search. Here to help if needed gathering more information. Thank You

Hello, Cperez21! I don't know if I understood you correctly, but I would like to know what your doubt is as such. You don't know how to cite correctly? Do you want to write an article for Taíno? Do you want to mention that event in a specific section in Yo soy Boricua, pa'que tu lo sepas!?
I have looked at the article and citations 10, 11 and 12 are not mentioned within the prose. If your doubts are based on how to cite correctly, this article and this other one can help you better than I can.
Please don't hesitate to write to me. Greetings! Yarfpr (talk) 15:50, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
It was more on the format I saw that the font was not matching in numerical context. I will try to fix it.
I will also try to do an article on Taino is also now a days a blockchain entrepreneur. There is an article from El Nuevo Dia, I saw online will use for quote. Once I'm done I will see if I can send it to you in case you want to review it.
I will also try to fix the citations. Thank You Cperez21 (talk) 23:30, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
Hello yarfpr I have successfully completed the wiki. It took me some time because I wanted to ensure it was completely accurate with the news sources and cited accordingly. I also left a comment for the update. The chatter after the representative of congress cited it brought some attention to the song so it was pivotal to ensure the page was accurate with the latest information.
Also Due to prior litigation I delved into the story, the documentary section was not relevant to the song. Everywhere I looked it had nothing to do with Bosch and it should not supersede the historical context of the song. Also do to copyright litigation that Bosch had it was best to ensure everything was matching to all proper news sources that covered it all.
I will try my best to work on a page for (Bosch) under the artist name Taino so that it has proper links back to the wiki now that I see there is good citations on him.
I will probably be working on other articles that I have seen that are interesting and need updates when I have time.
Thank You again Cperez21 (talk) 04:19, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
@Cperez21: Glad to see you corrected it! I think your ideas are excellent and I support them. I would like you to continue providing information on everything related to Puerto Rico on Wikipedia. You are always welcome to enter WP:PUR, where you can meet and collaborate with other Puerto Rican editors or those interested in our Caribbean archipelago. Saludos. Yarfpr (talk) 16:57, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
I was able to create Taino page but It's kind of tough when people remove hours of work that had proper citations instead of sending a comment to improve. pretty vicious experience that I have to get used too.
For example I had to add a legal section because I found citations from multiple sources and now is completely removed without clear context. They even changed the year of a release date. When I click undo to view what the issue was Im getting an error so Im trying to do my best. Doesn't seem people are too friendly like you have been.
Not everyone is as seasoned or holds same perspectives wikipedia editor. If you have any suggestion or improvements for the Taino page I would appreciate it
thank you Cperez21 (talk) 15:37, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
I understand what you are saying and you are absolutely right. Unfortunately, there are hostile people on WP and we have to deal with them all the time. In that WP is not so different from real life. The important thing is to learn from good and not-so-good experiences and try to enjoy your time in the encyclopedia, but you also have to familiarize yourself with the rules, many of which I'm still learning. Don't be discouraged. We've all been through some awkward moments. The most important thing is to maintain good communication with others and demonstrate your contributions with reliable sources. Mucho ánimo. Yarfpr (talk) 18:48, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

Edit summary

Hey, I just wanted to mention if you could please use the edit summary. It's good practice to use the edit summary. See here for more WP:ES. It's because I have most of the PR articles on my watchlist and when you make an edit I normally have to go in to see what you did 'cause you don't add edit summaries. Cheers! The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 01:51, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi, The Eloquent Peasant! Thanks for reminding me of that detail. I really regret not using the edit summary regularly. Most of my edits are minor and that's why I rarely describe the type of changes I make. I only inform the type of edit if it is something very important to everyone. I promise you that I will use it at all times, even in irrelevant situations. Cheers! Yarfpr (talk) 15:50, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Please read and comment. Bearian (talk) 15:42, 6 July 2025 (UTC)

thanks

I appreciate your uploading all the photos of Puerto Rico to Wiki, but do you think maybe you could include the GPS coordinates of the images? Thanks.--The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 17:36, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

Hi, The Eloquent Peasant! How can coordinates be added? I've seen a template, but I'd like to know how to correctly identify the coordinates of the places where I've taken photos. Gracias. Yarfpr (talk) 18:20, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
If you are using your phone you can the privacy option in Settings. I think turning privacy to "off" would add the GPS coordinates to every photo you take. With privacy = off, the GPS coordinates would automatically be attached to the photo so you wouldn't have to add the location template. It would be added upon upload. Of course, when you want to take pics of private locations then you would change the setting back to Privacy "on". Thanks for considering it. The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 19:07, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
@The Eloquent Peasant: Privacy is important to me, which is why I don't usually turn on the location of my photos. If I use Google Maps coordinates to add an approximate location, is that information enough to validate the location of my photos? For me, it's not a major inconvenience to add some coordinates, but I have hundreds of photos and it's going to be a bit complicated to add that information to all the images. For now, I would only add them to the images I've posted in articles related to barrios if the file name isn't precise enough. Saludos. Yarfpr (talk) 21:35, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
OK. No worries. Thanks again for your awesome photos! The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 03:33, 2 October 2025 (UTC)

Palominos

Hi,

The correct spelling of the island off the coast of Fajardo is "Palominos", as this is how it appears in historical documents since the 19th century. It is also the spelling used by the Departamento de Recursos Naturales y Ambientales y NOAA.

In Puerto Rico, the "s" is often times not pronounced, which has given rise to the "Palomino” spelling, the most commonly used by the media and people, today.

To keep the page accurate, the page title uses “Palominos”, but the first sentence of its intro indicates that “Palomino” is most commonly used.

thanks! Tektonson (talk) 19:59, 29 October 2025 (UTC)

Saludos, Tektonson. I would appreciate it if you could provide me with a link where I can verify that information. I have always known Palomino and Palominito in their singular form, but on the internet there are results that show both forms and for me it is important to clarify that doubt. For now I'll leave the article alone, but I need the information to correct the Wikidata item and its category on Commons. Gracias. Yarfpr (talk) 00:14, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for adding the reference! Tektonson (talk) 08:54, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
You're welcome, Tektonson. I found a great source on the article's talk page. It seems that someone else had the same question as me. I have already corrected the information in the article, on Commons and on Wikidata. Yarfpr (talk) 19:04, 30 October 2025 (UTC)

Information icon I noticed that you have communicated with other editors in a language other than English. At the English-language Wikipedia, we try to use English for all comments and edit summaries. Posting all comments in English makes it easier for other editors to join the conversation and help you. If you cannot avoid using another language, then please provide a translation into English, if you can. If you cannot provide a translation, please go to the list of Wikipedias, look in the list for a Wikipedia that is in your language, and edit there instead of here. For more details, see Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Thank you. Mclay1 (talk) 07:09, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Puerto Rico is part of the US, obviously, and you've made Category:Neighborhoods in insular areas of the United States a subcategory of Category:Neighborhoods in the United States anyway. A completely pointless change that will likely be reversed at CfD. Please do not be rude in edit summaries and respect the consensus on categorising insular areas of the US as part of the US. Mclay1 (talk) 07:12, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
Saludos, Mclay1. I apologize if it bothers you that I greet you in Spanish instead of English on my talk page. Leaving that aside, I thank you very much for writing to me here and for providing me with that information, some of which I already knew and some of which I will not take into consideration. As you may have noticed, the reason I created that category is not because I am contradicting myself, but because Puerto Rico belongs to the USA, but is not part of the USA. Having said that, the way you were categorizing the barrios category wasn't correct because the preposition "in" can have several nuances, including the geographical aspect, but also the political one.
The relationship between Puerto Rico and the USA is difficult to understand even for Puerto Ricans themselves, and that's why it's even more understandable that people outside of this reality are aware of the circumstances of this relationship. That doesn't mean you don't have the right to edit information about Puerto Rico; quite the contrary, but it must always be done with education, respect, and responsibility. If you feel that I acted arrogantly, I deeply regret my attitude, but for me it is more important to tell the truth and not go around misinforming people.
I hope this misunderstanding doesn't cause any friction between you and me because the last thing I want is to have enemies because of differences of points of view. I invite you to visit WP:PRUS if you still have any questions. Take care of yourself. Yarfpr (talk) 00:55, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

Why do the guidelines for wikipedia not apply to the articles you own?

Answer that, and you're most of the way to figuring out why you've proven today to be such a horrible "editor".

~2026-31521-88 (talk) 20:26, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
