Delete it, or move?

edit

I proposed deletion as noted. In the alternative, we move this to Manuel A. Pérez? Bearian (talk) 15:40, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

If no one gets any more cites, then the article should be deleted, but where does García come from? His last name is Pérez, not García. Please give us more time to improve the article as much as possible. After all, Manuel A. Pérez is important in Puerto Rican history. Yarfpr (talk) 15:59, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I see that @Yarfpr is working on the article. Verification and notability are established from the government biography. Per the proposed deletion template, as it is being worked on and a reliable source reference is in place, I'm removing the template. However, as noted the article does need work. -- ERcheck (talk) 18:25, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Yarfpr - Looking forward to your improvements to the article. ERcheck (talk) 18:26, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I fixed the link. Thank you everybody. It's not yet saved, but it's better. Bearian (talk) 19:15, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you both very much. The truth is, I also had a bit of a hard time finding cites to help me improve the article. It's strange because Manuel A. Pérez was a prominent figure in his time, and there's almost no information about him available online. It would be a great help if someone else could help us by looking for information in a book. I just noticed a book cite was added. Thanks to both of you for your help. As for the title of the article, I don't care whether it remains "Manuel Pérez (teacher)" or "Manuel A. Pérez," but that last option is how he's most commonly known. I leave that change to your discretion. Yarfpr (talk) 19:40, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
There is already a redirect for Manuel A. Pérez to Manuel Pérez (teacher) so both are taken care of. However, it doesn't seem that he is best known as a teacher, so perhaps "Manuel Pérez (teacher)" might not be best. I recommend waiting until you have improved the article to decide for a better alternative name. ERcheck (talk) 20:09, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I found a Facebook article (written in Spanish) which has details, here. While perhaps, if you can communicate in Spanish with someone from the group (Biografías y Fotos Históricas Puertorriqueñas), you might get some references - ERcheck (talk) 20:12, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Great find! Thanks. Yarfpr (talk) 01:31, 7 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've put a note on Tony the Marine's talk page about this article. He has a special interest in biographies people from Puerto Rico. - ERcheck (talk) 21:17, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Excellent! I think he and other editors interested in biographies can contribute more than I can. Thanks again. Yarfpr (talk) 01:36, 7 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
@YarfprI checked the PR Project and find that most of the editors involved in biographies and history are not very active. I'm not a member, though I see you are. If you have contacts within the project and/or know how to flag this article for needing attention, please do. ERcheck (talk) 04:26, 7 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
