- Hi, TheBluflame. Thanks for replying. It's difficult for me to advise you because I'm not sure what resources are available about Bowden that you could use. I can see there was an article in the Denver Gazette about him, but it is geolocked for me. I can also see a 1972 article. If I were you, I'd ask over at the teahouse, where they may have better advice for you. Best wishes, Tacyarg (talk) 06:37, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

- I can definitely add more details using these articles that I have collected on Bowden.... The thing is is it keeps messing up like the spacing and how I had some things large like the headings for each spot. I'm just having a hard time navigating the system and I'm afraid to do anything cuz it keeps messing up semi-acceptable drafts and I don't know if I'm doing it better or worse. TheBluflame (talk) 16:41, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- both the sentence about edging and learning blacksmith are located in The Pueblo Chieftain February 1970 article I can't get it to notate number 9 for some reason TheBluflame (talk) 17:05, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

Mme Maigret (talk) 08:59, 17 April 2026 (UTC)License tagging for File:Martin Bowden carving 1955.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Martin Bowden carving 1955.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:30, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

Photos of Martin Bowden
editYou have tagged File:Last known picture of Martin Bowden.jpg as your "own work" but it is evidently a photograph of a much older photograph, and I doubt you were the person who took the original photograph. If this image is not public domain, then you cannot use it in the article, because you have already used one non-free fair use image in the article, and our criteria for the use of non-free images requires that we keep their use to the minimum.
You have also claimed on File:Martin Bowden canyon carving (finished work).jpg that This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1931.
but the source you've given for the image clearly (and contrarily) states the date as 24 March 1955
.
Wikipedia takes copyrighted content very seriously; you need to familiarise yourself with the WP:Image use policy and non-free content criteria before you continue to upload and use images with dubious copyright status, otherwise you may end up blocked from editing. Athanelar (talk) 19:16, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- okay thank you for replying. The last known picture of Martin Bowden came out of a 1960 book taken by Inez hunt which I cited. I thought because it was something I took with my phone out of her book it would work so I understand not using that picture but what about the younger picture of Martin Bowden that was taken roughly around 1909 or 1910. I own that picture. I was passed on to me by Family relatives and the chain of command a year ago. How would I put that picture in and how come the picture of him carving in his Canyon which was cited from the 1955 article is removed? I'd also like to inform you that I'm doing this on a cell phone so it's very difficult I really want to apologize for any frustrations that I'm causing I have to expand and slide things to read everything that's going on with this and it's very difficult. I thought with editing that you were allowed to go in and just keep editing things as you improved it but I see that that's bothering everybody that just must be my autism way of viewing the world I actually thought I was helping by updating and fixing things but apparently I'm making it worse.
- Thanks for your patience.
- I did submit another draft or tried to publish the painted Canyon which is the place that he's famous for which is also documented and I'm going to try to link those together but I don't want to piss anybody off. I'm just doing my best and I promise you if anybody else could do it I would be grateful to be alleviated of the burden but there is nobody else unfortunately for people that have to deal with me.
- Apologies again
- I'm just trying to get Martin about in his rightful spot in Internet History.
- Best TheBluflame (talk) 20:18, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- The younger photo should be fine; you've appropriately tagged it.
- The photo of him carving was removed because, as I said, you have claimed in the licensing disclaimer that
This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1931.
but the article and therefore the photo is clearly from 1955, which is not before 1931. - I understand your passion about Bowden's life and legacy, but it's important that you slow down and make sure you're following the proper procedures; don't let your passion get in the way of building an encyclopedia.
- It concerns me when you say things like
I'm just trying to get Martin about in his rightful spot in Internet History.
Wikipedia is not the right place to memorialise somebody or to promote somebody's legacy. Our goal is to build an encyclopedia, and that should be the main objective we have in mind when writing articles. Athanelar (talk) 20:34, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
edit
Hello TheBluflame! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § Licensing.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 13:42, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
