Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Chatham Town F.C., you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page London League. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:58, 24 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi there - Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people. You didn't provide a source for your changes to the Nicky Spooner article, and I couldn't find one either. If you have a reliable source please let me know and we can change the article. Please let me know if you have any questions. GiantSnowman 20:37, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Why can't Wikipedia make citing more user friendly? My source is as follows:-

Information icon Hello, I'm Belbury. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Patricia Greene, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Belbury (talk) 11:43, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

And where do I find a 'reliable source' for something which I consider a known, accepted fact. QuiltedBunny (talk) 14:26, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'd recommend online newspaper articles, or books (if only through a Google "Books" search). Belbury (talk) 14:31, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, Wikipedia citations are tediously over-complicated. QuiltedBunny (talk) 15:52, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to hear that! But just writing <ref>A Life In Film, by J Smith, p94</ref> at the end of a sentence is fine if you're finding the citation templates too complex. Belbury (talk) 16:00, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Jimmy Thompson (footballer, born 1935), you may be blocked from editing. GiantSnowman 15:24, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

What an unpleasant comment. You could have offered assistance as to how to navigate Wikipedia's arcane citation system.
This player's career with the club is detailed in the club archive site, hydeunited.com. How do I make the citation? QuiltedBunny (talk) 15:32, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
You have been around long enough to know how to reference an article, it is an important but basic requirement which you have been told about before. GiantSnowman 17:21, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've 'been around long enough'? But I still haven't seen any official Wikipedia assistance. Surely, the fact that even after all the time that I've been using Wikipedia (mostly correcting typos, etc) I still find citation totally unclear, is all the evidence you need to understand that Wikipedia could do a better job helping users to meet Wikipedia's citation requirements. QuiltedBunny (talk) 17:47, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes, in the nearly 6 years you have been actively editing, you should know 1) that we need to reference and 2) how to reference properly.
In relation to the first point, from your talk page alone, you have been told multiple times by multiple users (including by me over 3 years ago!) about the requirements and given links to the relevant guidelines/policies which you patently have not been bothered to read.
Important links - WP:RS, WP:V, WP:BLP.
In relation to the second point, I can see that you were clearly told how to reference, see this. To repeat, all you need to do as a bare minimum is use ref tags, such as <ref>book or website or whatever</ref> - so for example, if I wanted to to reference the BBC home page, I would add <ref>https://www.bbc.co.uk/</ref> next to the point I was referencing.
Important link - WP:CITE.
If you do not understand either of these points, please ask, but I'm not sure how I can be clearer, and if it's not getting through, you should not be editing - comptence is requured. GiantSnowman 19:42, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

CS1 error on Jimmy Thompson (footballer, born 1935)

edit

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Jimmy Thompson (footballer, born 1935), may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A bare URL and missing title error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 16:45, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
