A page you started (Pachycoris) has been reviewed!

edit

Thanks for creating Pachycoris.

I have just reviewed the page, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

I've linked to the entry on Wikidata, in the process linking to articles in other languages and the Wikimedia Commons category. I've added a reference list and a tag on the talk page, and a taxonbar at the bottom (which linking to Wikidata populates with links). The claim that the taxon was first described in 1843 needs to be sourced, and some information on geographical distribution would be nice.

To reply, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Blythwood}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

Your submission at Articles for creation: Sapri Sale (June 9)

edit
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Theroadislong was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit when they have been resolved.

Sibú

edit

Hello and thanks for the great article on Sibú. I'm wondering about the spelling of his name, in this version it says both that the Cabécar spelling is Sibö and Sibú, I left the latter spelling in, but maybe you could check that I didn't remove the right spelling? The article also uses Sibú and Sibö interchangebly, would it be okay to switch them all to Sibú?

If you have any more such well-made articles that have been lingering in draftspace for months, you can of course move them to article-space yourself, you don't have to wait for review. I see that this article was made over 4 months ago, which is of course way too long to wait for a review.

Living dinosaur and Category:Cryptozoology

edit

Hello, I see you've reverted the change of Category:Cryptids to Category:Cryptozoology on several articles. The problem with using Category:Cryptid for entities from the folklore record or for supposed sightings of this or that, is that it places the pseudoscientific/fringe term "cryptid" in Wikipedia voice, rather than noting that the entity is of particualr interest to the subculture and pseudoscience—and there are really only a handful of these out there that are of any particular notability to the subculture.

Not long ago, Wikipedia suffered from members of the subculture building a sort of cryptozoology compendoum out of the site, very much in violation of WP:PROFRINGE and WP:PSEUDOSCIENCE. The cleanup of those efforts continues, but there's still a big mess to be mopped up. A major issue is ensuring that these entries are as etic as possible, removing pseudoscience-internal vocabulary unless it's directly relevant and clearly a quote, for example. :bloodofox: (talk) 05:22, 5 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

"Linguist of Afroasiatic languages" describes what he did much better than "Arabist" (a vague and sometimes derogatory term). AnonMoos (talk) 07:08, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I disagree, he primarily researched Arabic, and occasionally other Semitic languages. "Afroasiatic" is far too broad a category for him. If "Arabist" is too vague a term, take it up with the people who made Category:Linguists of Arabic redirect to Category:Arabists. --Qualiesin (talk) 15:53, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

He published on non-Arabic Semitic languages far more than "occasionally", and was an expert in the historical linguistics of Hebrew. Of course I agree that he didn't study non-Semitic Afroasiatic languages, but "Arabist" is far too narrow to encompass his interests (not to mention faintly redolent of pith-helmeted colonialists romanticizing desert bedouins, something which has extremely little relevance to Joahua Blau's works). More than a typo

edit

Hello, Qualiesin, Please don't remove a large portion of content from a page, as you did on the History of LGBT characters in animation: 2020s and describe it as a "typo." Dead Endia has been renamed, Arcane deserves to be on the page, whether you like the series or not, as does Q-Force, despite the fact the latter series is deeply problematic. The Bubble Blabber link should stay as well, its Taneka Stotts not Taneka Scotts, and the stuff about The Ghost and Molly McGee should also stay as well. --Historyday01 (talk) 20:32, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I honestly have no idea how that happened. I was only fixing a typo, I had no intention to delete large chunks of the article. Thanks for catching the error. Qualiesin (talk) 02:00, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Changing section redirects to less specific sections

edit

Hi, I was wondering why you made these two (and possibly other similar) edits?: edit to Ty Lee redirect, edit to Mai redirect

I was going to edit those two redirects to link to the specific characters in question (via the anchors installed for each character on that page), until I happened to think to check the edit history first, and was surprised & confused to see your edits undoing what had previously been more specific sections.

To me, it seems obvious that redirects to sections should go to the most specific relevant section possible, as to help readers find the information they are trying to find as quickly & easily as possible, but perhaps there is some MOS guideline or other reason to not do that I am unaware of? (i still have yet to fully read read the MOS as it is very long & tiring)

Since your edit descriptions didn't specify the reason for the change, I have resorted to asking you the rationale behind them so that I might understand better and possibly improve my edits to Wikipedia.

It just makes no sense for the entire eponymous category to be in all the same categories, when the only relevant page, Arik Einstein, is already in it. If there is a limited number of articles in the larger category, and multiple of them have eponymous categories, then it might make sense to have those as subcategories. The best practice at this time is to stop editing the page and to discuss the disagreements, issues, and concerns at-hand with the other editors involved in the dispute. Wikipedia provides a page that helps to detail how this is accomplished. If discussions reach an impasse, you can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard, or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection while a discussion to resolve the dispute is ongoing.

Being involved in an edit war can result in being blocked from editingespecially as the page in question is currently under restrictions from the Arbitration Committee, if you violate the one-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than one revert on a single page with active Arbitration Committee restrictions within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the one-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warringeven if you do not violate the one-revert ruleshould your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. 1RR violation here @Qualiesin. IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 23:02, 16 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also please use edit summaries for significant changes to controversial content. IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 23:04, 16 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Adding the reaction by Guterres is a constructive edit. Qualiesin (talk) 00:42, 17 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
That is not the issue in question. The issue is that, not only did you introduce issues of MOS:DOUBT into the article, when reverted, you also reinstated your preferred edits, repeatedly removing the descriptions "manipulated" & "fake". That you believe your edits were constructive is immaterial to it being a 1RR violation. Butterscotch Beluga (talk) 01:10, 17 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
To call the video "fake" is misleading, she did say those actual words. But this discussion doesn't belong here, it belongs on the talk page for the article. Qualiesin (talk) 01:17, 17 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Free SBL PDF Book Publications

edit

Dear Qualiesin,

Since you are on this List, if you are interested, here is a catalogue of 30 books that SBL Press (Society of Biblical Literature) made Free to download in PDF on this link: https://www.sbl-site.org/sbl-press/browse-books/ancient-near-east-monographs/ One is an older Israel Finkelstein book from 2013. Other topics include ancient Israel, Judah, Egypt, etc...that you may be interested in. Their publication dates range from 2008 to 2025. Sadly, almost all new academic books are very expensive today and my main interest is in Ancient Egypt. But I did save the Finkelstein book on my computer. There is also a Free 2018 publication on the archaeology and history of 8th century ancient Judah.

  • PS: If you know other Wikipedia editors or personal friends who may be interested in these free books, please feel free to send them this SBL url link to them. Best Wishes from Canada, --Leoboudv (talk) 23:53, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

April 2026

edit

In this recent edit you changed "the ongoing Gaza genocide" to "the alleged Gaza genocide", and your edit summary only says "added link". IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 22:11, 6 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I also just partially reverted a similar edit here where "Gaza genocide" was changed to "alleged Gaza genocide" despite the edit summary of "not relevant to this article" not referencing this change. You need to stop using misleading edit summaries & introducing MOS:DOUBT into articles, it's disruptive. Butterscotch Beluga (talk) 05:24, 7 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Calling something genocide doesn't make it so. It is categorically false that there is overwhelming consensus on this, despite the ideological capture Wikipedia has been subjected to. Qualiesin (talk) 16:02, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
You're entitled to that opinion of course, but please don't use misleading edit summaries to make controversial changes. IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 01:59, 11 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. please be careful with your application of container categories. as well as incorrect parent categories SMasonGarrison 01:21, 11 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. please be careful about conflating religion and political cause SMasonGarrison 22:57, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I added the category Category:Jewish feminists because most notable Zionists are Jews (definitely most of the ones with wiki pages), and all of the pages in that category are also Jews. Qualiesin (talk) 00:43, 18 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Just because most Zionists are Jews doesn't mean that the category should be added. SMasonGarrison 00:48, 18 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
On a related note, I would strongly encourage you to slow down and engage with the concerns being raisedo on your talk page. SMasonGarrison 02:37, 18 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
What do you think me responding to you is? Qualiesin (talk) 02:39, 18 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but I also mean with other people. I'm seeing that many of the concerns being raised have been raised before. SMasonGarrison 12:49, 18 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Arbitration enforcement warning

edit

The following contentious topic warning now applies to you:

You are formally warned to not misrepresent sources, introduce POV language, or use misleading edit summaries.

You have been warned per this AE thread.

This warning is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator under the authority of the Arbitration Committee's decision at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Index/Palestine-Israel articles#Final decision and, if applicable, the contentious topics procedure. This warning has been recorded in the log of sanctions. If your conduct continues to fall short of the expectations of editors in a contentious topic, you may be subject to a contentious topic restriction such as a block.

You may appeal this warning using the appeal process and the arbitration enforcement appeals template. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this warning, it remains current until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything above is unclear to you. Sennecaster (Chat) 23:39, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
