Thank you for restoring the previous version and for pointing to WP:BRD. I understand the preference for maintaining stability, and I’m open to reaching a consensus here. My intention in adding the newer image — File:Nitin Nabin, National President of Bharatiya Janata Party meeting with the President of India, Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan (2025) (cropped).jpg — was simply to explore whether a more recent and well-composed photograph of Nitin Nabin in an official setting (with Droupadi Murmu) might be suitable for the infobox. That said, I appreciate that factors like composition, clarity at thumbnail size, and how well the subject is centered can also influence suitability beyond just recency or resolution. I’m happy to defer to consensus on which image better serves the article, but I would request that the newer image be considered alongside the existing one so we can evaluate both on overall encyclopedic value. Please let me know your thoughts.

(PS: Also the original without cropped image may also be used with caption Nabin (left) with President of India)

Thank you...

for the greeting, but have been at it for decades, while a faculty member and since. Just no longer log, because haven't enough life left to take time to engage in the WP systems that manage things. Cheers, hope to cross paths. ~2026-14365-71 (talk) 22:33, 13 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Speedy Deletion

Hey, I'm wondering as to the reason behind this deletion as it doesn't appear to be eligible for speedy deletion. Was this a WP:RETURNTORED situation? If so, it should have gone through RfD. CoconutOctopus talk 11:10, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@CoconutOctopus: I am away overnight camping & responding on my phone mostly via voice to text. I will be back at my desktop tomorrow evening and can take care of undeleting it and adding an RfD. However, I do believe that reasons #1 & #10 of WP:R#DELETE apply as the target article barely mentions this individual and there are articles in French and Italian Wikipedias that could be translated. The redirect effectively prevents use of the {{ill}} template. Peaceray (talk) 15:02, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
It likely it does fail WP:R#DELETE; however, as administrators, we can still only summarily delete pages in situations the community has come to a consensus that it is appropriate to do so (that is, where there is an existing CSD criteria). Agree that an undeletion and RfD is the correct process here. CoconutOctopus talk 15:28, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

VisualEditor auto-generated reference names

Hi Peaceray, I'm Johannes from Wikimedia Germany's Technical Wishes team. We are currently considering improvements to VisualEditor auto-generated reference names in order to provide something more meaningful than <ref name=":0"> when editors re-use citations in VE. We want to make sure that the proposal works for all wikis. Given your interest in citations I reckon you might be interested in sharing feedback on our talk page about our proposals. Thanks for your time! --Johannes Richter (WMDE) (talk) 15:20, 5 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

New Page Patrol

Hello Peaceray!

  • New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting, or could meet the guidelines for granting soon if you build a track record in one of these three areas: article creation, articles for deletion, or articles for creation reviewing. These demonstrate proficiency with notability, and are what admins typically evaluate when deciding to grant this permission.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please make sure you have some experience with new article creation, articles for deletion, or articles for creation reviewing, then consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Referring to "the Noba" as a Nubian-speaking ethnic group

Hello I found references to the Noba being referred to as "foreign invaders" on the Kingdom of Kush article. This is incorrect. The Noba are not an ethnic group, and they are not foreigners. What can be done to correct this ? Nubian Archer 929 (talk) 12:32, 31 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Nubian Archer 929: without looking a Kingdom of Kush, this is my advice.
  1. If it is mentioned in the lead with no references but not supported by the body, state that in the edit summary & remove the text.
  2. If it is mentioned in the body but there are no references, state that in the edit summary & remove the text.
  3. If it is mentioned in the body and there are one or more reference(s) but the citations do not support it, state that in the edit summary and either place a {{Failed verification span}} or remove the text.
  4. If it is mentioned in the body and there are one or more reference(s) that support it, read the Verifiability, not truth essay & follow the advice there, particularly This page in a nutshell::

Any material added to Wikipedia must have been published previously by a reliable source. Editors may not add content solely because they believe it is true, nor delete content they believe to be untrue, unless they have verified beforehand with a reliable source.

If you have contravening citations, you may include additional text along with those citations as long as they are not WP:UNDUE. It is best to discuss this on the talk page. To remove incorrect attestations when there is convincing evidence in citation to disprove those attestation, one can use the {{Dubious span}} template & open a discussion on the talk page. In either case, it is wise to get consensus on the talk page before removing any text.
