- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:

- I must say I myself thought about this, but I actually just started to edit after @Consuela9890 opened a new topic of discussion about File:Flag of Portugal.svg regarding the color of the flag, which I never quite understood why they are like that, but I added a few files back on commons before, since then I try to be only a reader but when I see something I know, I try to change it, but I keep it at the bare minimum. Btw, I'm portuguese who likes to talk about our history, like so many of us so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a couple of people who eddit portuguese pages on a certain pattern purely by coincidence, so it's understandable your concern, but I don't know anyone who is on wikipedia/or have multiple accounts Oos88 (talk) 19:19, 8 April 2025 (UTC)
