Hi Obinna Tony. Thank you for your work on African Pride Accelerated. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for creating this page for a series of LGBTQ events in Nigeria. From here, it would help to add additional evidence of notability of coherence. Is it part of a larger body, or does it have its own website? Liking from elsewhere and addition categories would be helpful.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Klbrain}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Hi,
I just linked it on Women's Health and Equal Rights Initiative (WHER) page. Does that count?
I am struggling with the category part. I don't know why. Obinna Tony (talk) 19:24, 16 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Anna Westerholm

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Anna Westerholm requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, as it exhibits signs of having been generated by an AI model with no clear human review. Text produced by these applications can be unsuitable for an encyclopedia and output must be carefully checked. For further information, see the section G15 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think these signs were incorrectly identified and you assert that you did carefully check the content, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Additionally – if you would like to create an article but find it difficult, please ask for help at the Teahouse. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 17:05, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please read the WP:NEWLLM guideline, it is not permissible to use an AI to generate new articles. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 17:52, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Can you delete it? I will love to work on the orginal one. Obinna Tony (talk) 18:14, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, I am not an admin so I cannot actually delete it. But it will probably be deleted soon. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 18:32, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
What do you think? I want to move it to draft so as to wipe off every content and rework them. Then, you take a look? No need for deletion. Obinna Tony (talk) 18:47, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
You are much better off starting from scratch, otherwise you are working backwards. Collect your sources and read them, then start writing a new draft that summarizes them. Trying to salvage something like this takes much more effort, because you don't know what is tru and what isn't. And the current article sounds like it was written by an AI (because it was) and that becomes very obvious when you recognize it. It is not well written, it has factual errors and the sourcing is not good. Just start over, and take your time. Writing a biography is not something that you should just throw together in an hour, this is an actual living person who deserves the respect of a well written article. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 18:56, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Gwanki

edit

Hello there Obinna Tony, do you have any connection to the user Gwanki? --Gurkubondinn (talk) 17:11, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

No. I don't.
And I actually did use AI but all I did was source for links and then add them to AI model and it generated the article which I did partially rewrite. I didn't know it hallucinated a lot. I have my sources. Can it not be deleted? I am going to work on the article before the end of tomorrow by rewriting in my own words through paraphrasing as they are stated in my sources. Please? Obinna Tony (talk) 17:23, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Why did you choose to work on this specific article? --Gurkubondinn (talk) 17:45, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Because we are both in WikiGap contest. We are from the same country but I don't know him personally (whether virtual or physical). It's a provided article list. Here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiGap_Nigeria_Online_Challenge/2026/Participants . Article list: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiGap_Nigeria_Online_Challenge/2026/List I was mostly making edits/improvements and all. But I noticed he was declared leading in the contest and I checked his page and noticed he was churning articles in draft. I figured they were AI assisted and I thought it was accepted because I have never used AI to write. I did it too. You can delete the article though. I still have my sources. I can start afresh and rewrite in my own words. Obinna Tony (talk) 17:51, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Then you do have a connection with that user, why did you say no first?
But your second link explains why two users have tried creating the article in a few days. The version they the other user pasted into Wikipedia was very similar to yours btw, and if that does not convince you that AI is useless for writing Wikipedia articles then I don't know what would. Have you use AI to create other articles that are in mainspace? If so, can you move them to draft space? --Gurkubondinn (talk) 17:57, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
No. This is my first time of using AI to create a wiki article. Obinna Tony (talk) 18:03, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Are you going to do it again? And may I ask you how much time you spent on creating the article? --Gurkubondinn (talk) 18:06, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
No. Because honestly, if I knew Gwanki article was deleted due to AI, I wouldn't have done it but point to organizers that his article was deleted and he is not eligible.
Roughly an hour - 30 minutes. Two - five minutes finding sources. One - Two minutes feeding to AI but most of my time was spent on editing and rewriting. I just didn't take note of the hallucinations. Obinna Tony (talk) 18:10, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I spent about an hour to write the source analysis, but I only covered the lede and the first half of the first section. I had already spent over two hours on source analysis of the first version last week.
So thank you so much for saying that you will not be submitting more AI generated articles. I really mean that btw, thank you.
The time that it takes for someone else to verify and analyze it afterwards is almost always a lot higher than the amount of time and effort it takes for someone to paste it into Wikipedia. And it is very boring, tedious and time consuming. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 18:37, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I am so sorry for the stress. Obinna Tony (talk) 18:48, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
No worries, but I want to say thank you for listening. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 18:52, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have moved it to draft and deleted all the content. I will start working on the original content tomorrow. If it's possible to remove the notice. Obinna Tony (talk) 18:54, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I can't right now (I am not at home), but that makes the nomination invalid so it will be declined. But there is no functional difference between starting a new draft and starting a draft from a blanked page, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 18:58, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Perfect thank you.
I will start a new draft. I was worried it will become a double draft and create conflict. Obinna Tony (talk) 18:59, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Just put a link to this conversation on the talk page of the draft, and the patrolling admin will know what to do. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 19:01, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
thank you. Done. Obinna Tony (talk) 19:04, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

HI, @JTtheOG
Thank you so much. I believe the wiki page has enough secondary sources detailing the individual. It is also a profile of the current Executive Director of one of the biggest music label in Nigeria.
I am open to answering other questions in terms of other Wikipedia policies and guidelines, though your template is vague.
Best. Obinna Tony (talk) 06:54, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hello. I am concerned that none of the independent sources seem to provide significant, in-depth coverage of the subject. They seem to simply repeat or rephrase things he said, instead of discussing the subject in depth. JTtheOG (talk) 06:57, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Well, I am assuming that's because he attends events as a smaller entity representing a bigger entity Chocolate City (record label). Though I am willingly to see how the discussion turns out. Being an executive director of the label, we can argue it makes him notable enough but beyond that, he is just an average successful business person. Obinna Tony (talk) 07:02, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
It seems like that would mean that the label is notable but not him, unless there is significant coverage presented in the discussion. JTtheOG (talk) 08:30, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
A few of the sources still cover him significantly, which you say are promotional, but I don’t think so. Since he is an executive director of a notable label, isn’t it reasonable to assume good faith that the articles were written because he is notable? Not promotional? I mean, an independent writing can sound very promotional especially in a field like music that requires tooting one’s horn. Obinna Tony (talk) 08:40, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
For example, in this puff piece, it says: Interestingly, Abuchi’s appointment as CEO came after a bold conversation with co-founder Paul Okeugo where he expressed his desire to run the company, believing the founders were ready to step back. This assertiveness showcased his confidence in his ability to lead and revitalize the company. I hope we can agree to discard this AI slop article entirely. Which other sources would you say contain the best in-depth coverage of him? JTtheOG (talk) 20:43, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
All right. I’m cool with whatever decisions are made. Obinna Tony (talk) 06:04, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Audre Lorde

edit

Hi Obinna Tony, in these edits, you added references. I'm a bit worried if you checked the contents, because for this information: "Lorde graduated from Hunter College High School in 1951", you added the reference "Charger Press". Charger Press. 2026-04-27. Retrieved 2026-04-27., which is a home page of a news website. There is one page about Audre Lorde on that website, Audre Lorde: Powerful and Dangerous, where it says "After returning to New York, Lorde attended Hunter College, graduating in 1959" - not 1951. I don't have the time or energy to check the other references. Did you use an AI tool to add these sources? Laurier (xe or they) (talk) 19:21, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Why would I use AI for the source when it's easier to use google and find the source? I must have mistakenly slashed off the URL while copying it and it registered as the frontpage?
Also, I added that source because it says Lorde "After graduating high school, Lorde spent a highly influential year at the National University of Mexico in 1954," which means she indeed graduated high school before 1954 which could be 1951. So, I assumed the Hunter College of 1959 is different from Hunter College high school. Obinna Tony (talk) 19:49, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
As you can see, they have a bad URL that has "home" on their link: https://www.chargerpress.com/home/audre-lorde-powerful-and-dangerous Obinna Tony (talk) 19:55, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
What do you mean by "they have a bad URL that has "home" on their link"? Also, it 'could be 1951' is not enough to use this as a source, I'd think? Laurier (xe or they) (talk) 19:59, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I mean, the URL has "home" on it, so I could have possibly copied half of the link hence why it registered as the home page.
The source supports she graduated from Hunter's College. That was why I still added it, pending "contested dates." Obinna Tony (talk) 20:07, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Without a proper source verifying the year, I've removed 1951 from the text. JTtheOG (talk) 20:17, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
You added just chargerpress.com, not chargerpress.com/home or anything. Anyway, thank you for putting the right url in the reference now, and thank you JTtheOG for removing the year. Laurier (xe or they) (talk) 20:31, 24 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Initiative Sankofa d'Afrique de l'Ouest when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Non-neutral notification

edit

Hi there, I am concerned that your notification at WT:LGBTQ+ at least borders on WP:CANVASSing. I would suggest rephrasing it as a more neutral notification. Your concerns about a coordinated, motivated deletion campaign would be better suited for a venue like WP:AN. My intent here is to be helpful. I have not yet reviewed the AfD nominations but I am sensitive to the issues you identify. Notifying the WikiProject is appropriate but non-neutral notifications are against the guidelines and may backfire if the deletion discussions achieve the desired outcome but the appearance or reality of "canvassing" invalidates or calls into question the legitimacy of the results. —Myceteae🌈 (talk) 15:51, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Done. Obinna Tony (talk) 15:58, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
That's much better. As I mentioned earlier, if you have evidence of a coordinated, ideologically motivated deletion campaign, those should be taken to an appropriate venue. It would be best to discuss with the nominator on their talk page first. You would need to provide evidence for a report to WP:AN or WP:ANI to be taken seriously. I just did some quick poking around and I see that the editor who nominated this articles has created articles like this one, which seems inconsistent with an ideological motivation. This is by no means definitive and I have not done anything close to a thorough investigation and I trust that you are far more familiar with this situation and topic area than I am. —Myceteae🌈 (talk) 16:08, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I mean, they created them for a specific wiki love pride contest. That’s not their area of focus but putting LGBTIQ organisation on deletion and their assertions doesn’t make sense. They have not approved any of my article before, so, I’m worried they are now on these. Obinna Tony (talk) 16:12, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm just saying, I wouldn't expect someone who is opposed to covering Nigerian LGBTQ+ topics on Wikipedia to create an article like that for Wiki Loves Pride. Hopefully there will be more eyes on the articles and discussions to bring the proper decision, and possibly improvements to the article if necessary to 'keep'. —Myceteae🌈 (talk) 16:24, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
He seems to be against LGBTIQ Nigerian articles that relies heavily on Nigerian sources either calling them no significant coverage (despite significant coverage) or non reliable source. Obinna Tony (talk) 16:31, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also, the second Nigerian reviewer being on all the nominated pages supporting, tells me all I needed to know. Obinna Tony (talk) 17:04, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Obinna Tony I completely understand having concerns. In my experience, the most effective approach to counter potential bias on Wikipedia is to stick to policies and guidelines very carefully, exercising a lot of care to be civil in my replies. I encourage taking a deep breath, considering complaining privately to a friend, then looking up the relevant guidelines and policies and applying them in your replies. These are a few essays with informal advice that may be helpful or interesting: Wikipedia:Don't call the kettle black, Wikipedia:Don't shoot yourself in the foot, Wikipedia:Don't bludgeon the process. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for making personal attacks towards other editors.
If you believe that there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then submit a request through the unblock wizard or through your talk page.  SarekOfVulcan (talk) 19:00, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's entirely possible that another admin might reduce or eliminate this block, since you've promptly removed the several personal attacks you've been called out on over the past couple of days, so consider well what you want to say in your unblock request, and it could be successful. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 19:02, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

This user is asking that their block be reviewed:

Obinna Tony (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log) • SI)

Request reason:

The following request was written through the unblock wizard.
Can you explain, in your own words, what you were blocked for?
I was blocked for making personal attacks towards other editors through mentioning their identities.
If unblocked, what edits would you make and what (if applicable) would you do differently?
I would stop mentioning people’s identity during conversations.
Is there anything else that may be helpful to your unblock request?
Though I felt personally targeted by people whose ideological differences I believe influenced their actions toward me, I mentioned their identity during the conversations as the reason I felt targeted. I did not realize that this could be classified as a personal attack. Once it was pointed out to me, I removed those references.
