Manila LRT station articles

edit

Please stop moving pages! A template is being used in naming station articles. -Hiwilms (talk) 10:55, 8 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Well, the issue was raised in the tambayan page at least a week ago and heck both the international admin User:Cuchullain (via the Central Terminal Station) and User:TagaSanPedroAko (for PNR) did it without hesitation from any other users. Korean Rail Fan 11:24, 9 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Really, having the stations of the Manila LRT and MRT stations based on a template such as {{LRT Station}} and {{MRT Station}} looks bad in the real situation. The names should reflect those that we see in reality, not those based on automatically-generated stuff. So does the Philippine National Railways stations, that used "[Name] railway station'", even that is not true also in reality (though "railway" has use is the Philippines, naming a PNR station using the name generated by {{RWS}}, that is, "[name] railway station" will not make sense in the Philippine context, plus that template seems to be intended for mainline railway station names in Commonwealth nations or in countries whose coreesponding WikiProject agreed to use such naming). I made several changes to the station names, just before I addressed them at the Tambayan Philippines talk whether the name changes are okay or not.-TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 14:30, 9 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Where did you get the info on Metro Manila Subway being called Line 9? TIA. ITSQUIETUPTOWN talkcontribs 02:15, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, this data can be seen here which is DOTr's internal presentation of railways in the country. Also present is the plans for Metro Manila Railways from Lines 1-9 and PNR lines. This still excludes unsolicited proposals from the private sector for Lines 10 and 11. Korean Rail Fan 02:24, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Re: Line 5

edit

Makati Intra-City subway is different from Line 5. Line 5 starts from MOA and ends at Pasig. Makati Subway's terminus is at BGC. And also, Line 5 wasn't revived after the unveiling of the Makati Subway. In fact Sec. Art Tugade himself said that he didn't know about the subway. (interview here)

ITSQUIETUPTOWN talkcontribs 09:19, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Note the date which is October 2018, such closed-door talks happened between the DOTr and Makati LGU in November prior to the groundbreaking. National Roads/Properties are required to have National co-ordination so Makati LGU needed to co-ordinate with DPWH and DOTr. In the internal meeting, an interface was agreed upon with Line 5 being split between 5A and 5B segments with 5A being the entire Makati Subway Line plus possible extensions to Taguig BGC via either the 26th or the 32nd alignment options, while 5B is the spur from Ayala via Gil Puyat-Diokno Avenue to MOA/Aseana in Pasay. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:2015 Line 3 Single Journey Ticket.png

edit

Thank you for uploading File:2015 Line 3 Single Journey Ticket.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Your moves of Sixth Avenue, Third Avenue (Manhattan)

edit

Your moves of Sixth Avenue and Third Avenue (Manhattan) were disruptive. In the case of Sixth Avenue, we just had a discussion in which it was agreed to move the article from "Sixth Avenue (Manhattan)" to "Sixth Avenue". In the case of Third Avenue, you did not start a discussion on the talk page before making a potentially controversial move. Please be careful next time, as you are overriding a previously decided consensus. epicgenius (talk) 12:54, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Both articles is not right as there are other places named the same. Manhattan does not own any rights for it to be named only as such and it is but right to add a disambiguator. Korean Rail Fan 15:10, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Lourdes station

edit

Hi - I was taking a look at this article just now while NPP patrolling. I looked at the source, and I couldn't find a mention of the work 'Lourdes' in it. It's a pretty long document, so I don't pretend to have read it all the way through, but Ctrl+F didn't find it - can you point me to the point in the source that supports the assertions in the article? Thanks GirthSummit (blether) 19:00, 18 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Yes, stations have not been named in the document but it has been a common practice to name it at the bisecting roadway or point of interest which in this case is Lourdes Drive and Lourdes School of Mandaluyong. Also since the naming file is a hard copy and confidential as of the moment, I cannot publish it but the names I reflected in the articles are the working names utilized in the confidential document. For the sake of sustaining an article, such naming can be utilized for the mean time until they release a new naming should they desire. Otherwise, these names in the confidential documents will be the final names. Korean Rail Fan 01:58, 23 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Consensus on MM's rail line colors

edit

Hello! Since there are many new railway projects in Metro Manila, I think we need to have a consensus on its colors. Currently the colors in wikipedia are: Line 1 = Green Line 2 = Blue Line 3 = Yellow However, DOTr's map uses the old colors, LRMC uses the new colors, LRTA uses the old colors. What should we do? ITSQUIETUPTOWN talkcontribs 05:40, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, My opinion regarding this is to de-colorize all railway articles and just indicate the current and former colors in the articles themselves. This would save us the pain of confusion regarding colors while retaining their names which was decolorized way back then based on articles history. Thanks! I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Lourdes station, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now-visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

2019 US Banknote Contest

edit
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

edit

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

I really wish that the wikiproject proposed by Hiwilms would become a thing since 1) there's no standard logic on article layouts (which is what pushed me to do "drive-by editing" despite it posing a bit of risk towards on-wiki harrassment, and 2) so everyone could work on things under well-defined things instead of WP rule-bombing.

The counterarguments and refutations get really tiring to look at, but regardless, I'm being quite a Wikipedholic! Regards to your friend Juls as well. :) {{ping|Koressha}} {interact|ambags} 12:25, 19 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Better source request for File:2015 Line 3 Single Journey Ticket.png

edit

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact source (such as the web page, or printed document) where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the direct/bare URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. — Ирука13 20:44, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
